Once I started Josie and Patrick’s story, I couldn’t put it down. Josie’s past was heart-wrenching, growing up in foster homes, and then at 18, ending up on the streets and homeless. It was pretty remarkable that she was able to hang on to her faith and her innocence, and not become bitter or angry at God. I thought that Ms. Alexandra did a good job of unraveling Josie’s past bit by bit throughout the book, and of weaving faith seamlessly into the storyline.
Both Josie and Patrick were flawed, but likable characters, and you couldn’t help but root for their happy ending. I did get a bit frustrated with Patrick and his inability to be honest with his family, and I could sense the train wreck coming when they would eventually find out that he had been lying to them. I was impressed though, that he was quick to go above and beyond to make amends for his wrongdoing, the strong message of forgiveness that shone through, and how the story was wrapped up so beautifully in the epilogue. This book left me feeling warm and fuzzy all over, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a sweet and clean romance.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Loving Josie. Having a homeless heroine, as in living on the streets, makes for unique situations. I loved Josie and Patrick. She was so determined, and he was so caring and kind. Josie was thankful to God for the smallest things, such as having a jar of peanut butter and a loaf of bread. There’s godly wisdom sown seamlessly into this story. For example, as a teenager on a mission trip, Patrick had said, “You can’t threaten me with heaven” in response to being denied the opportunity to minister in a dangerous area that was close by. The setting of Loving Josie was small-town Arizona in the winter. The resolution of the plot was incredibly touching. I plan to read more of Tayla Alexandra’s books. I highly recommend this one to readers of Christian romance. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion.
Heart Warming and Heart Melting
This is a sweet and clean, faith-filled romance. The story is touching and could be true. The plot is done very well and is quite believable. All of the characters could be people in your own life. I received this book for free and this is my honest review.
I’ve been fortunate in my life, I’ve never been homeless and I’ve never felt like my choices were limited. Tayla Alexander brings Josie to life and through her you experience the helplessness of being homeless and feeling you are invisible with very limited choices in life. Josie is a remarkable young woman and definitely deserves a man as wonderful as Patrick This book will make you laugh and make you cry. I enjoyed this book and the author’s previous book in this series, Finding Alissa, and look forward to her next one. It isn’t necessary to read the previous book, but because it is so good I would recommend it also.
The day Patrick found the homeless Josie sleeping on his couch their life changed drastically. He hired her to be his housekeeper and she’s just happy to have a place to call home, even when it will be temporary. Can a person like her being loved after what she has done/gone through? What life lessons have they both to learn before they really can love each other?
This is such an amazing emotional story with some life lessons about facing and overcoming your fears, and the importance of loving yourself before you can love someone else. Don’t forget to have tissues nearby.
Loving Josie will make you cry as you live on the streets with Josie. Tayla Alexandra puts a face on homelessness. If you have not faced homelessness, you should not judge those who are. This is not your usual romance, but I loved it and read it in one sitting. Patrick had his own flaws but he was patient, caring and loving with Josie. I enjoyed watching Josie gain some self esteem and both Josie and Patrick draw closer to God. This is an excellent book and I highly recommend it. I received an advanced copy of Loving Josie and am voluntarily leaving a review.
