This book, the twelfth in this series takes us back to revisit the couple that started it all, James and Rain. All the Kings get their own story arc a under a continuing timeline. Characters reappear and events are reference throughout the series. For this book you could probably forgo Lex and Ed’s arcs, but do keep in mind that they feature heavily in this book. I would say that you really must read The original James books (1 thru 3) first. If not you will not only be confused, you will be dropped in the deep end without knowing how to swim. Now, as for this book it was simply wonderful to get back to these characters. I will not lie, Rain and James are my favorite couple in this series, they always have been and I believe that they always will be. Their story left that much of an impact on me and that appeal continues. I immediately re-connected with these two and was all in from chapter one. The emotions are deep and the tension powerful as life, work, friends and family all take a toll on this couple. The attraction, affection, chemistry and passion all remain strong hot but you also sense an undercurrent of ennui that left me nervous about what troubles are headed for this couple. Does end on a cliffhanger in preparation of the next book and for me it can’t arrive soon enough.
Loving James
By Shayne Ford
Main Characters: James and Rain
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
4 out of 5 stars
I believe this is book 12 in the series but it is the 1st book about James and Rain that I have read. Even so, I liked this book and would like to go back and read the 3 books that started this whole series. I’m sure that would have made this book even better.
I must admit when I first started reading Loving James I was a little irked. I thought to myself have Rain and James not been through enough. Why do we need more BS in their love story? Did they not sacrifice enough to finally be together and love one another? But I love this series so I kept reading. Boy am I glad I did. While the story is a cliffhanger and I have to patiently wait another month or so for more this is a great continuation of their story. Issues that have plagued James for most of his life are are coming full circle and forcing him to face them. Rain is dealing with how to keep her heart from breaking because the man she loves with her whole being is gone for his job. These are real life issues that people deal with frequently and can beak apart love. It is interesting to see more of the story instead of being left with assuming the happily ever after. I can’t wait to see if they can overcome these obstacles life keeps putting in the way. I also liked the glimpse into Ed and Lex and how they are moving forward in their new paths in life. I also would not mind getting a book for Eve. I really thought she was going to eventually be Ed’s girl and I am sad that life has not been kind to her when it comes to love. This is not the book to start with in the series, if you did you would be totally lost, but I highly recommend this entire series. It is well worth your time to read.
HEA?…Not so Happy!!!…OR IS IT?
This read irked me, it burst the bubble of happiness I found with James and Rain. I was on pins and needles holding my breath my heart was racing as I literally felt the shift in the drama and the fractures and stresses as they came through the words with a force making me jump to conclusions that had me getting mad at my self telling me to calm down wait it out but the damnn emotions that kept bleeding through the storyline kept right on tugging at my heartstrings and the unwavering suspense just added more fuel to the emotional struggles and challenges within the lives of the King’s couples bringing old skeletons back stirring up the drama even more forcing its ugly head to the fore front of my mind that just added more fuel to the unwanted fire! Passionate hot chemistry, edgy, conflicting emotions, old skeletons knocking at the door, past acquaintances and possible new relationships, baby fever and engrossing twists! An incredibly powerful read that will continue to dwell on my mind with worry for the outcome of the Kings couples that feel realistic to me and not just another story I have read through the amazing writing that truly brings these couples to life and getting me invested with a motherly want for there to be a HEA for them all in the end! I loved it and can’t wait to read
(Damnn misspelled due to Amazon won’t post cuss words anymore and I have to have my swear words.)
This is several years on in James and rain story, I brought on a rollercoaster of a ride through emotions with them plus theres some twists along the way. We also get to see previous characters. A Must read, I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy
EXTREMELY INTENSE!!!
Oh man, talk about swimming in quicksand. This is one gut wretching, nerve racking, heart pounding, nailbiting, page turning thrill ride that keeps you riveted to every word. An overwhelming flood of heartbreak, emotional turmoil, and man all that drama, tension and intrigue that goes hand-in-hand brings this bad boy roaring to life flawlessly. All the trials and tribulations, along with a few glitches and bumps here and there pulls this little jewel together. The characters are complex and believable with such depth and individuality it’s easy to relate. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive you have no trouble picturing each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. Shayne totally rocked this bad boy to its core. Awesome job Shayne, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
Are you a fan of Shayne Ford like I am? Have you read the “Night of the Kings” Series? If so, then you’ll be as excited as I was to get another chance at seeing James and Rain again along with the rest of the Kings and their women. It’s like visiting old friends and loved ones. James and Rain initially had a hard row to hoe and came out the other side deeply in love. Now we’re seeing them seven years later, after Ed and Thea’s story. They’ve grown, matured and built a life. But is it the life they imagined? After this much time, you would think there would be no more surprises. But sometimes they come when your searching for something else and sometimes they come out of the blue. Either way, Shayne Ford has a way of delivering them with such an impact it ensnares you, making things almost personal and the characters relatable. Of course, there is a cliffhanger, but wait until you see what it is. You won’t believe it!
