Title: Loving Hard
Series: Single Ladies’ Travel Agency
Author: Carina Wilder
Designation: Book Three of Series, Full-Length, Standalone, NO Cliffhanger
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Five Delightfully Entertaining Stars*****
I love, love, love Loving Hard by Carina Wilder. I became a diehard fan several years ago after reading Wilder’s Wolf Rock Shifters and Sought by the Alphas paranormal romance series. I fell in love with Wilder’s unique worlds, imaginative storylines, larger than life characters, and effortless prose and couldn’t get enough. Steamy paranormal romance has always been one of my favorite genres and Wilder writes some of the best I’ve ever read, but I also enjoy contemporary and new adult romance as well as chick-lit. When I heard Wilder was planning to release a contemporary romance series entitled Single Ladies’ Travel Agency, I was over the moon. I couldn’t wait to get the first book, Gettin’ Hard, in my hot little hands. I truly enjoyed the premise of the series and was eager to read the second book, Going Hard. It was even better than the first, so I not so patiently waited for the third release, Loving Hard, and loved it even more! And so began my love affair with Wilder’s contemporary romance, a genre I hope she will continue to offer her readers. I read each of these books as soon as they were published but they are all full-length standalone novels and can actually be read in any order. As I stated earlier, I loved each of the books but this one is my new favorite!
Loving Hard is a well-crafted, fast-paced, easy to follow contemporary romance filled to the brim with laugh-out-loud humor, snappy dialogue, endearing characters, irresistible attraction, dreamy romance, steamy sex and, of course, a little agonizing angst. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with his and her perspectives from the two protagonists, beautiful American blogger Riley Simmons and handsome heartthrob and successful London model Galen Davies. The dialogue is smart, well-executed, and flows effortlessly. But my favorite component of every Wilder story is the cast of larger than life but still realistic characters who always draw me into every story, and Riley and Galen were no exception. I was hooked in the first chapter and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I was instantly smitten with devilishly charming Londoner Galen and beautiful, blushing American girl-next-door Riley. They were absolutely delightful, so different yet also so similar, and complemented each other brilliantly. Poor Riley had traveled from Vermont to London for a few weeks of not-so-fun vacation, trying to escape the fallout of a broken engagement after finding her fiance with his love-pickle stuffed inside her now ex-best friend. She’d sworn off men completely and had no intentions of dating, much less seeking any kind of relationship, even going so far as to impose a twelve-month prohibition on any and all dating. She planned to concentrate on her work, blogging about her Stepbitch, an electronic pedometer. Her daily posts of scathing, hilarious conversations between her and her Stepbitch had become wildly popularly and were attracting a lot of online attention. Unfortunately, somewhere along the heartbroken trail across the Atlantic, Riley seems to have lost her muse. Thankfully, the owner of the Single Ladies’ Travel Agency rides to her rescue with an offer of a tour guide to show her some of the sights in London, but her guide is a very handsome, delectable model named Galen Davies. Oh my! Galen agrees to do a favor for Katherine and show her American client around for a couple of days, albeit reluctantly since he’s also in a self-imposed no-relationships moratorium. But Riley is much more than Galen ever expected and when these two meet, sparks fly and attraction builds, the kind that can’t be ignored or denied, although they both do give it the old college try. Galen and Riley are so adorable, trying to stick to their guns, but some things are meant to be. You just can’t fight fate, although it was a lot of fun watching them try (or rather reading about them trying)!
Did I like this book? NO, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain a few steamy, dreamy sex scenes. Will I read this author again? Absolutely, just as soon as she releases her next book! Be it paranormal or contemporary romance, count me in! ANd finally, was I entertained? COmpletely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
