They said he was missing, but she knew she could find him… because the connection between them is stronger than lifelong friendship… they were soulmates.
Cassandra Rosi wasn’t the person Graystoke Environmental wanted to send to Africa on a rescue mission, but she was the one willing to go. Her lifelong friend, Donal Graystoke, the largest shareholder and CEO of the corporation disappeared … disappeared nearly four years before, working to protect wildlife from poachers and trophy hunters.
It doesn’t matter how many people tell her that she’ll never find him after ten years away. Her heart tells her he’s still alive. And she loves him too much to ever give up.
Before Donal Graystoke traveled to Africa, he believed he was dying. The feral anger and the blackouts left him drained for days afterward. Even though every doctor he saw said nothing was wrong he was afraid that the family’s curse had reared its head. His grandfather had suffered from an undiagnosed malady that sent him running to the other side of the globe to die in solitude.
To protect the only person he loved, he lost himself in one final good deed. He dedicated what was left of his life to saving the animals he had always treasured in Africa, only to find that what he carried within was more than a disease it was a gift. Harnessing the power of the wild, shifting into the form and majesty of a gorilla, giving him a new mission in life.
Cassandra wondered at the cruelty of fate. Finding Donal alive only to discover that both of them are in the crosshairs of men determined to end their love before it truly begins. Can Donal’s gift give their love a real chance?

I fell in love with ‘Loving Graystoke’s Heir‘ very quickly for several reasons. Most importantly of all, it’s a damned good story. I’ve always been fascinated by the myth/legend this reminds me of (or is actually based on, that I do not know), While I’ve read gorilla shifter stories, I’ll admit that there aren’t a great many of them to be found. And I confess that I have always loved looking into gorilla’s eyes – not up close and personal though but through photos and documentaries. These gentle giants have such humanity within their eyes, the tales they could tell they seem to speak with those eyes. So in many ways, aside from this story coming from one of my favorite authors, I was ready to be swept away by this story… and I certainly was.
Donal, being a male (sorry guys but we all know that you guys will sacrifice unnecessarily without giving the women who love you a good reason) decided that to keep his love safe from whatever was happening to him that he should leave her… for her own good. *sigh* He traveled to Africa to continue the work he loved with keeping the animals safe from poaching, which runs rampant in spite of all the best efforts. He believed he was dying until he discovered that he certainly was not, but was in fact granted another life, an additional life… but he feared this other life could harm Tamsin so he remained away allowing her and his company to believe that he was most likely dead. (all I can say with a shake of my head is: “Men!”
Tamsin was determined to find Donal and equally intent on keeping his uncle from declaring Donal dead so that he could take over the company. So she made one last, almost desperate effort to find the man she loved by going to Africa to search herself. Her discoveries only intensify her belief that the uncle is up to no good at all. Finding Donal will be a bittersweet reunion if she cannot convince him that they belong together or that his uncle has plans that do not include rescue, discovery, or acknowledging that Donal is very much still alive.
Have I mentioned that I loved ‘Loving Graystoke’s Heir’? Tamsin and Donal work so well together as a couple, the action is fast-paced and intense, the villains vile, and the chemistry between these two mates is sizzling. I really hope that this story is simply the beginning of an unnamed series… I so want to go back to this world, it would be amazing. If you love a really good love story, if anything Paranormal or Shifter Romance related is your cup of tea – then pick this one up, right now. I’m betting you’ll be quickly hooked as well.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
No need to walk alone
When it comes to shifters this author knows how to give us what we want. This is a book that captured my heart and my mind and I am sure to read it over and over again. The author has built this love story full of longing and loneliness that made my heart ache. Tam is one of the strongest characters when she follows her heart to find her man, and the author gave her the perfect mate. Okay I was a little frustrated that he was able to leave her so easily, but as the story progressed we saw he hadn’t been idle and that his love transcended his own need. I hope the author continues to bring us more shifter romances because after finishing this book I can’t wait to read whatever she sends my way.
I loved the setting in Africa for Donal and Tam’s story. They said he was dead but Tam goes to Africa to find him even though the uncle doesn’t want her too. He has other plans for the company and wants to declare Donal dead. There’s shifters, romance and secrets are revealed. Loved the characters.
Second chances are one of my most favorite romance and this one filled that with more than you could expect. Finding him again after years filled her with love but under that love was anger, sadness, of not being what he wanted but little did she know that he had his reasons, and the fear that she couldn’t love him pushed him to leave. Now that they’ve found each other again can he save her when evil comes calling?? Loved it!!
I volunteered an honest review for this book..
A second chance. Torn apart because of uncertainty brought back together by a strong want to find her love. A unique twist on the Tarzan legand that I enjoyed. Shifters, surprises, heat, and heart. I received a free copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a review
My first gorilla shifter romance and I loved it. Lovers reunited, secrets revealed, then faced some danger together in exotic Africa? All that made for a great romance. I now want to go find my own gorilla to snuggle up to but it’s probably safer just to snuggle up with this book instead. 😉
*I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book*
Donal Graystoke is not the man that Cassandra fell in love with. He is missing. She must find him.
As she travels to Africa to look for ways for him to retain his shares in his family business, she repeatedly finds her way blocked.
Reina Torres takes us back to the time of classic romance, as this couple fights to survive-for their love and their lives.
But, there is more to Donal than Cassandra can ever even imagine!
A very quick yet highly entertaining, action packed and emotional journey filled with engaging charters, witty banter, exciting twists and thrilling passion. Great reading
I love all the books under the Bowls romance banner, be it a tiger, Ape or falcon. Donal Graystoke is the heir to the conservation company his great grandfather built, to protect endangered species. He knew something was wrong with him so he went to Africa to help but to find his true self. Unfortunately he left the one person he loved, thinking he would hurt her if he showed his true self. The most unbearable thing is in this book, illegal poaching of endangered animals including mountain gorillas. It up to Tamsin, his love and Donal to stop the poachers once and for all. Little realising that his uncle is behind the nefarious acts. A great read with a love story built in. Great characters and along the lines of Tarzan but with a twist.
Interesting shifter story. Donal thought he was dying and went to Africa. But he was gone a year and no one had heard from him. So Tamsin was his proxy and she didn’t believe it. Especially when his uncle was trying to get him proclaimed dead by the board. But she wasn’t having it. She took the jet and went to Africa to find him. Unforeseen things happened while she was there and almost died, if not for Donal. HEA
I was captivated by this book. I love the Tarzan legend. I love second chances romance. This story has all that and more. I read this book in one sitting. I wanted to know does love conquer all? Can your connection/love survive against all those that want you to fail? This was my first time reading about a gorilla shifter and I loved it. Donal and Tamsin will pull at your heart. So much emotion, determination, love and more. A must have book! I am voluntarily leaving my review after reading an advance reader copy from the author. Check it out and see for yourself.
I have read a lot of shifter books but this was my first gorilla shifter romance, and I loved it. Donal and Tamsin had a deep connection so when he left for Africa and disappeared everyone thought he was dead but Tamsin didn’t believe it. She heads to Africa to find Donal. This is a well written story with well developed characters and a beautiful romance. My only complaint is that I wish the book had been longer, other than that this is a fantastic read.
I’m going to admit to being torn on my opinion of this book. The idea behind it is good. I actually felt like it wasn’t enough for me, that Reina could’ve made it longer, she could’ve kept the story going and I would’ve kept reading and devouring more of Donal and Tamsin’s story. This is the first gorilla shifter story I’ve heard of and the setting in Africa was lovely.
Unfortunately I gave it only 3 stars because it was confusing in some parts. Like Chapter 7’s sudden and unexplained turn around in Donal’s thinking of Tamsin. The ending with his uncle that was left feeling too unfinished for me, his company thinks him dead! That’s the whole start of this story! I would’ve liked a little more details on the background characters. I felt that there was more there, especially the group in Africa.
All in all, it wasn’t a bad read. I’m not sorry I read it. I didn’t struggle to get through it, I did enjoy it. I personally like things more tied up, loose ends are one of my obsessive compulsive problems and I’ll need to immerse myself in another book so it doesn’t preoccupy me lol.
An enjoyable story that sees one man a heir leave the women he loves to go and live Somewhere where he can no longer be in contact with the outside world. He loves Tasmin, but his beast is telling him she is coming, he must tell him about them…she is close.
Tasmin is on the hunt for Donal, his Uncle is trying to get the company to delcare him dead…. Letting the board give her time to find Donal she heads off for Africa to prove that he is still alive.
Love between these two souls is still there, more than ever, can they get there HEA
This is my first gorilla shifter book I’ve read and Reina did a fantastic job with this book. I love second chance books and when you put them together you have a fantastic read. Donal leaves to protect Tamsin but 4 years later Tamsin goes off to find him but trouble follows her there. I couldn’t get enough of this book and ultimate soulmate book.
A sweet second chance story!
Donal loved Tam so much he did the only thing he could do…leave. It was the only way to keep her safe. He has a secret to keep but his heart aches for his mate.
Tam needs to find Donal and figure out why he left. So she heads to Africa in a desperate search to find the only man she’s ever loved.
Will Tam forgive Donal? Once his secret is revealed will Tam leave Donal forever? Can they finally have the love they both dream of?
“I voluntarily received this arc book for an honest review”
I loved that this book had a gorilla shifter which is a different shifter than I have read before.
Donal and Tamsin have been friends since childhood, but he leaves for Africa in his attempt to protect her.
4 years later, Tamsin goes to Africa to find out if Donal is alive since no one has heard from him. Once she gets there big secrets are revealed and they’re in danger from evil men. Will they be alive long enough to reconnect. Loved the characters in this book! A must read!
