Loving an American Spy
Marsden Descendants, Book 8
By: Dawn Brower, Miracle Express
Narrated by: Nicola F. Delgado
This WWI based story takes us to a time where life is dangerous. William knows one day he will be running his family plantation, but while there is war, he knows there is something he must do. Enlisting to be a Gentleman spy, he finds himself in France where he meets a nurse, Victoria. She is the daughter of a vicar and travels from camp to camp, and over several years meets William several times, on a train and even tending to his wounds, building a love. But Victoria isn’t sure this is what she wants and breaks things off. But is it the end? Little does she know what will happen in the future. A true love never dies, and in some special cases will find a way to keep smoldering til that flame is able to reignite. Brower writes a captivating story of bravery and the devastation of war. The characters to me are very realistic. Victoria is brave and comfortable doing what she knows. When it comes to unknown possibilities, she is not able to come to terms with outcomes, so the obvious response is to stay with what you do know. Human nature, right? But life isn’t always that easy. William is quite a man. Fighting for his beliefs with the idea of knowing what he would come home to is high incentive. He is patient and loving. I loved Victoria and William, their journey and their destination. It’s a beautiful story
Nicola F Delgado gives a good performance, bringing us to the front lines, She has several voices and accents, all easily distinguishable and enjoyable. Her portrayal is entertaining and a great way to spend an afternoon.

January 1915 Victoria was a nurse and headed to France to meet up with a regiment to a field hospital to help and do her part for the war. Daughter of a vicar, she had grown up to help those in need and with the terrible war raging nurses where needed desperately.
She meets William who sits beside her on the train to France and as they talked, it seemed she had finally found a man she felt comfortable with. But when they got to their destination, she would probably never see him again. He was off to fight in the war and him being an American, it seemed just a chance meeting.
But she received a letter from him and he wanted to see her as much as she longed to see him.. When she next saw him, he was a wounded soldier in the field hospital.
This is a wonderful story of the persaverance of two people who meet and become instantly attracted. Their journey against all odds in a world torn with war to ever be together. Well written and a story of the heart!
William an American who becomes a Gentleman spy during WWI. While on a train to France he meets nurse Victoria and a beautiful friendship begins. These two go through so much in this well written historical romance and I enjoyed every delicious page. I look forward to reading more books in this series.

Finding love during a world war.
Dawn Brower has again written an engaging story this one is about two people from different countries both with rather interesting careers for the time period of the book. William Collins and Victoria Grant were such strong characters and beautifully written you are easily in the moment with them. From meeting on a train during WWI to events after the war you will be completely engaged with William and Victoria. This is a historical time period that is new to me as a setting and I enjoyed the book a great deal. If you like Ms. Brower’s books you will love this one. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

They promise to write to each other & during the war they meet on a couple of occasions, not all are planned as they grow closer Victoria ends their budding romance as she fears for William’s safety &
would hate to mourn him. Several years after the war they meet again but can they move forward.
A lovely romance that spans a number of years. There’s no doubt how William & Victoria feel but I loved how they grew & especially Victoria learnt to trust & move forward. Endearing characters & a well written story all made for an engrossing read that I read in a sitting
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
