Raina’s first day at NYU starts off when she gets elbowed by a man with the most intriguing eyes she’s seen. Bumping into him again at a rock band tryout while drunk wasn’t in her plans, neither was kissing the man who’s name she doesn’t even know.
Levi’s captivated by the beauty who just kissed him, he knows he’s seen her before, but now’s the time to focus on the chance of a lifetime. A chance to work with one of the best producers in rock music and he can’t mess this up. His life’s a mess, his mom passed from cancer, his dad’s an alcoholic who’s not coping, and alcohol is Levi’s drug of choice to cope with his issues. He knows he needs to clean up and focus not only on his classes, but now making the band with his friend and roommate.
What starts of as a good NA romance turns into a deeper story of love and addiction. There are real world issues that are addressed, the story dives deep into one man’s addiction with alcohol and how it affects not only his life, but also that of the woman he loves, his friends, and his band.
I enjoyed the story, but it was over too quickly for me. I also didn’t really connect with Levi as much as I hoped. I can’t detract points for that because it’s simply my wishes. The writing is good, I like seeing where the story arc is going, and I liked both Raina, and Mable. I would love to see where the next book goes.
** I received an ARC of this story and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Raina packs her belongings and heads to New York City with a dream in her heart, and stars in her eyes, she cannot wait to see what the city holds for her. She is a little nervous though to, since she is basically on her own in the big city, she left her family behind to attend her dream college. But then she meets her new roommate and a friendship quickly blooms, Mable is determined to teach Raina everything she knows about the city… that includes all the city’s hotspots. While out exploring the two of them run across a place holding rock band auditions, so they decide to sneak in and check out the musical talent.
While finding a place to sit Raina literally bumps into a sexy stranger, and the moment their skin touches fireworks ignite, Levi is the kind of man naughty dreams are made of. Sexy raspy voice, gorgeous from head to toe, and he knows how to handle a guitar… he has trouble written all over him! But that doesn’t stop Raina, if anything it fuels the fire, he is quite possibly the perfect guy for her… or is he?
Lovin’ You is a story of new beginnings, finding love, conquering dreams, and embracing the unknown. Raina went to New York to accomplish her musical dreams, and embrace all the city had to offer and it gave her Levi. She never expected love to be a part of her new life in the city, knowing she needed to focus on her studies, but once she met him she couldn’t let him go. Their instant connection spawned a beautiful relationship, but little did Raina know Levi had some lingering demons that were about to wreck everything they had begun to build. Watching these two come so close to having everything and then having one little thing threaten to take it all away was pure torture, my heart broke for them. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for these two, hopefully some much needed healing and happiness. I really enjoyed this one, the words were so darn addictive, once I cracked the cover I could not bring myself to put it down. The pages of Lovin’ You are littered with romance, angst, drama, emotion… all the things necessary for a perfect heart-squeezing literary escape! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Wow! This story is all kinds of feels. The intensity of falling for another person. The complications that can arise in a relationship. It was all too real and I loved every moment. Raina is a freshman in college, just wanting to experience New York and all it has to offer. Levi is a sophomore, wanting to peruse his dreams of being in a band. When they collide, it’s so intense. I can’t wait to see how their story ends!
This story is powerful that deals with issues many of us have encountered in one way or another. In true Lyssa fashion, you can FEEL the emotions coming off the pages. It is a page turning masterpiece that leaves you wanting more.
This is the first in a new series and is Levi and Raina’s story. These two are drawn to each other over their mutual love of music. Levi is struggling to deal with a huge loss and is spiralling out of control and deals with it the only way he knows how to. Raina supports him but it gets to the stage as with any addiction tough love needs to be acted upon. My heart broke for them both. This is a well written story which had me hooked and intrigued throughout, and I cannot wait for #2.

Oh My Dayssss!! Everyone needs to read this book it was written so good and I loved it. These characters have an instant connection and when they meet they spark together. They way they both love music this bounds them together completely. This book has some twists that I didn’t see coming and I was really rooting for them both as I really felt for them and everything that they go through. Sometimes love is not enough to take you through? The reader can really connect top the characters and I cant wait to see what happens next in this series. This book will have your emotions up and down as you feel what these two characters go through in their journey together. This book ends on a cliffhanger that will leave you desperate for the next in the series. Thank you to the author and the publishers for allowing me to read an early copy of this book. ARC provided in exchange for a complimentary honest voluntary review. This book is a real page turner and I will be recommending it to everyone.
This book is expected to be released on 28th May 2020.
Starting college should be the time to make new friends and have your future in your grasp. When Raina meets Levi they instantly connect over their love of music – she writes lyrics and he is the musician to make it all come alive. When the pressures of his band’s instant stardom begin to be too much Levi’s inner demons come out to play. Can Raina’s love and support help him get through the baggage? Or will it all be too much for her to deal with. With beautifully written characters the reader feels like they are walking along their path. Each turn of the page locks you in and the highest of highs and the lowest of lows is an emotional journey that you have to read to understand. i cannot wait to see where this storyline goes.
Lovin’ You is beautifully written. You’ll fall hard for Levi and Raina but then you’ll also crumble with them. Love is never easy. Sometimes it takes one person to just step back and reset the relationship. Now it depends if they were truly in love and can overcome the past. I can’t wait for book two.
Sometimes love isn’t enough to fight our inner demons. Reina, on the cusp of her collegiate life meets Levi the brooding musician. Theirs is an insta-connection and it is sweet to watch them fall in love. Behind the scenes, Levi is hiding secrets and spiraling out of control. In order to help Levi, Reina must make the ultimate sacrifice. The highs are high, and the lows are low. I am definitely invested in this story and this couple.
“I pray our love brings us back together. It has to.” ~ Reina
“A high unlike any other and only from my lyrics. My words. That’s when music became a part of me. A part of my soul. Now, they’re gone. My muse is gone.”
Ms Cole is a new to me author, who wrote a beautifully tainted story of young love, empty promises and broken dreams. Perfectly imperfect characters, an interesting plot that had me turning the pages until I came to the cliffhanger ending. My heart broke for Levi as he struggles to find clarity.
Raina has a new beginning in New York as a college student. She’s a guarded and private, but her new room mate helps bring her out of her shell. Finding herself inebriated and on her ass with those eyes she hasn’t been able to get off her mind looking down at her. Raina does something out of character and falls down the rabbit hole with a rockstar. Levi has a beautiful heart and good intentions, the last thing he wants is to let anyone down. However, he becomes distracted by the girl with almond eyes and welcomes the reprieve from his nightmare.
This was an angsty, college age drama that was well written and dealt with difficult issues in a realistic and sensitive way. Addiction, in all its forms, can be incredibly destructive, and I was impressed by the way the author portrayed the rollercoaster ride for all those characters in this story that were affected by the vagaries of such a compulsion.
I didn’t immediately feel a connection with the main characters, and I had an on/off relationship with them throughout the story. Raina is a strange combination of conflicting traits: she’s talented, determined, and at times judgmental, and conversely there are times when she is sweet and lacks confidence and on occasions insight. Levi is talented and charismatic, but also self centred and self indulgent, traits that often accompany an addictive personality. That said, these two have a chemistry between them that had me invested in their relationship and willing them to be there for each other and to overcome the demons in their lives
The ending left me with unfinished business; I do hope these two find their happy ever after in the end…I received a copy of the book from the author via Quirky Blind Date with a Book
This story has the most perfect build up and burn that led me to one of my most addictive reads. Levi is the most broken soul who find Raina and they seem to be two puzzle pieces which fit perfect together. Slowly as the rock star life style builds up for Levi you are taken on an emotional roller coaster. My heart is broken in 1000 pieces right now with this incredibly powerful read.
This was a great hot start to a duet about Levi and Raina. Their chemistry was off the charts. This was slow burn but still instalove. It was emotional and heart wrenching. I couldn’t stop reading until I finished this wonderful, thrilling, beautiful love story. I can’t wait for the sequel to this wonderful series. Loved this story and I can’t wait to read more by Lyssa Cole.
This story put me through the wringer. You get sucked into the story from page one. I loved the characters and the story. Looking forward to more from this author.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Great start to the series. Raina & Levi steal your heart throughout their story in the first book. Your heart breaks along with them. I’m rooting for them for them to have their HEA. Hopefully they can find their way back to each other. I’ll be patiently waiting for the next book.
Wow what a push pull love read this story will tear you emotionally apart and take you on a adventure through dark and hard times to have love be strong and true.
5 EMOTIONAL STARS!! This story is beautifully written about love and struggles. Raina and Levi will hit all your emotion buttons, through their story. Lyssa Cole has gained a reader for life.
This story took me a while to get into and then a cliffhanger! I really like Raina as I understand how she feels. My heart also hurts for Levi! While it did take me awhile to get into the story, I did love the instant connection these two seem to have. I am looking forward to the next book!
This book was really good to read and I can’t believe how it ended and now I have to wait until the next book come out to find out what happen next
My heat is breaking because of Levi and Raina right now. This was such an emotional, outstanding story and deserves way more then 5 stars. As much as I hate being left on a cliff I don’t mind it this time. I can’t wait to see what happens with these two next in Ghostin’ You.
