A grumpy groomsman. A surprise shipwreck. Stuck on a deserted island together? Worst maid-of-honor gig ever. From the NYT bestselling author of A Nordic King comes an all-new standalone romantic comedy.
Daisy Lewis is experiencing a relentless string of bad luck.
Fortunately, Daisy has her sister’s destination wedding coming up. A week of sand, sea, and sun in the South Pacific as the … sun in the South Pacific as the maid-of-honor is exactly what Daisy needs to forget her upturned life and focus on the positive.
That is until Daisy meets the best man.
If you take tall, dark, and handsome, and add a dash of rugged, a pinch of brooding, and a whole lot of sexy, you’ve got Tai Wakefield. Unfortunately he’s also a major grump, total alpha, and seemingly out to antagonize Daisy at every turn.
As if being part of the wedding party with Tai wasn’t bad enough, Daisy’s bad luck soon resurfaces when she ends up on a cramped sailboat with Tai and the newlyweds.
Which then shipwrecks on a deserted island near Fiji.
Okay, so they aren’t completely alone. There’s an oddball research scientist who has been isolated for far too long, they have rundown bungalows as shelter, stores of water and canned food, plus a feral goat named Wilson.
It’s Lost…without the smoke monster.
But with rescue weeks away, Tai and Daisy realize the only way they’re going to get through this mess is to stop fighting and start working together.
And with their guards down, they get closer.
A lot closer.
Soon, Daisy realizes that the only thing worse than being stuck on a deserted island, is being stuck on a deserted island with a man she hates to love and loves to hate.
A man that can break her heart.

Lovewrecked by Karina Halle is the story of Tai Wakefield and Daisy Lewis.
Daisy traveled to her sister in New Zealand for her sister’s wedding. Which Daisy already had some bad luck via a cheating boyfriend but then she meets Tai who came to pick her up to take her to her sister. They rub each other the wrong way right from the start. Tai is a grumpy, hard headed and just all out rubs Daisy wrong. Daisy, even though has had a run of bad luck is a loving easy going person who looks for happy where Tai looks for the bad. Once her sister gets married, there is an issue with traveling for the honeymooners, so Tai steps forward to help. Daisy gets talked into travel with them which of course ends bad when they all get shipped wrecked. Now Tai and Daisy either have to work together or kill each other….with their attraction. Enjoyed their story and hope to read more from this author!
This book was just what I needed right now!
“Lovewrecked” has the right amount of drama, sass, humor and love.
And you even get a Wilson!
Thank you Karina for another great book
This was JUST the book I needed right now. Something with laughs, great banter, wonderful characters and a story that took me out of my head for a bit.
Karina Halle has a knack for pulling the reader in within that first chapter or prologue. This book was no different. We are introduced to Daisy and boy, is she having a bad few weeks. But what she walks into in her home had my laughing. Yes, what was happening was awful, but how she handled dealing with that confrontation was pure perfection. You gotta use what’s around you. I get it.
From there, we are taken on an adventure. From the flight to New Zealand (oh my, those couches ), to a 4 hour drive with Tai (a man her sister had pick her up at that airport) to see her family and get together for the wedding of her sister Lacey and Richard; we were in for a ride. The banter these two already had within moments of meeting was biting. I knew these two were going to make for some great “enemies to lovers” scenes. Add in more laughs along with some family and friend dynamics to the mix and you have not only a romcom, but a story that dives deeper. Where characters can grow and emotions run deep. It was just what this girl needed.
After the wedding, Tai and Daisy join the newlyweds on their honeymoon. Why, you ask? Because Tai must charter the boat they are taking to Fiji and Lacey asks her sister to go along. What ensues is some crazy sailing and a ship that, you guessed it, shipwrecks. This is where the story grows more from romcom to a little bit of the more emotional. And I LOVED it. To see the characters open up and experience life in a different way is freeing and raw. Plus, the island they wreck on? Oh, it’s good. That’s all I’ll say.
Told in dual POV from Tai and Daisy (but mostly from Daisy), this is a book of adventure and discovering oneself. Of opening up to new things and being all in, committing to your decisions. Of laughs and love and family. The banter is perfect. The sexual tension is out of this world and the attraction is sizzling. I loved the cast of characters for who they were and enjoyed how the laughs and the emotions melded together. It’s the perfect book to pull you out of a funk. Beautiful and funny and very timely.
“Humans can get used to anything. We’re nothing if not adaptable……With each wrench the world tries to throw at us, whether it be sabertooth tigers, or famine, or disease, or Facebook, we have found ways to adapt and learn come out better for it.”
If that’s not a message to now, I don’t know what is.
Take an adventure with Tai and Daisy and be open to laughs and love and one sunrise at a time. It’ll leave you with a smile on your face.
Lovewrecked was just what I needed in these crazy times we are living. It was light and fun, with a beautiful island setting. The main characters Tai and Daisy were great, and I loved the banter between them. Tai is grumpy and broody, while Daisy is more uplifting and lively. They were definitely the opposites, but you know what they say: opposites attract. These characters plus Daisy’s sister and husband are shipwrecked and stranded on a deserted island.
I love the stranded trope, especially when it is on an island, because it is just a beautiful setting. These characters were already sick of each other after spending closely together on a boat for ten days, but things get even more heated when they get stranded. The chemistry and interactions between all four of the characters were great. I loved all of them. Tai and Daisy were perfect for each other, and I loved seeing them grow closer and closer together.
This was a fun, sexy and light contemporary romance, with very likable and relatable characters. Karina Halle did such a great job with this book. I was hooked from the start and looked forward to reading what would happen next. I didn’t want the story to end, and I wouldn’t have minded if the characters were stranded longer on the island. This book is perfect for romance readers and I highly recommend anyone who enjoys this genre to pick this book up.
Absolutely loved!! Just in time for summer! Beautiful and fun story!
4.5 ‘One sunrise at a time’ Stars!

I completely understand why Karina Halle decided to stop working on what was supposed to be her next release to start writing Lovewrecked. In these difficult times, I do believe all of us romance lovers need a happy place to get lost in and this light romantic comedy was just the solution for me. Being a huge fan of Karina’s contemporary works, I knew she would give us the perfect escape from reality.
Lovewrecked is Karina’s newest standalone romance and it’s a romcom about two people who supposedly hate each other and they get stuck together on a desert island with two newlyweds. Daisy Lewis needs a break, she is not on her best moment and her sister’s wedding in New Zealand sounds like the perfect destination. Enter Tai Wakefield, the grumpy and sexy best man. Sparks fly between them and not the good kind. Imagine when they are forced to spend time together when they get stuck on a desert island. Will we find out if is it really hate what they feel? Or will the truth come to light after their layers start peeling off?
“Sometimes it feels like the world around us is collapsing. Sometimes it’s the world inside us. But the sun always rises. It always promises that we can start again. It’s the one thing we can count on when we can’t count on anything else.”
Oh yes, this is the type of romance I am loving right now! I love me some light on drama stories with awesome characters, funny moments, banter, sexual tension and a couple with burning chemistry. This is exactly what Lovewrecked is and I loved every second of reading it. It sure went fast since I read this in one afternoon basically and that is the sign of a good read for me! I loved the humor, the development of the characters personalities, their relationships and the connection between Daisy and Tai.
Even the old times were never easy. If we weren’t flirting, we were fighting.
For once I’d like to do neither. I’d like to just…be with him.
What seems to start as hate sure goes to a deeper bond that neither Daisy nor Tai expected. When these two really get to know each other and leave the supposed hate aside, their feelings are just so beautiful. I loved getting to know the layers of this couple and what is built on that relation they start having. And of course, do not doubt for a second that the chemistry between Daisy and Tai is off the charts. SO, SO hawt! I loved them together and I am so glad they found each other.
“How are we going to get through this?” […]
“One sunrise at a time,” I tell her. “One sunrise at a time, and with me by your side.
Therefore, I am rating Lovewrecked with 4.5 STARS because, as I said, it’s the perfect light romance read we all need to disconnect from what is happening and to give us hope everything will be okay in the end. I have to say, I really enjoyed all these characters and the love story between Daisy and Tai. Their chemistry was so adorable and intense and I loved all their moments together. Be sure t check out this romcom if you want to find the perfect escape and have fun with it!
Lovewrecked is exactly what I needed right now! It’s the perfect escape from current events. It’s an enemies to lovers trope, set on a deserted island with easy to love characters. Tai is a grump, and Daisy is all sunshiney, positive, happy person, even with her recent bad luck streak. These two are complete opposites, but work so well together. They have a rough first meet, but all their interactions are filled with great banter, and explosive chemistry.
Daisy is in New Zealand for her sister’s wedding, and Tai is the best man. In an interesting turn of events, they both end up on a sailboat with the newlyweds, on their way to Fiji. After a terrifying shipwreck, they end up on a deserted island for weeks with a scientist, and a crazy goat. It’s filled with thrilling parts, steamy scenes and laugh out loud moments. It’s the perfect blend and makes for an entertaining read. It’s so good and so needed right now! I would highly recommend this one.
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Could there be anything more romantic than falling in love on a deserted island? If it’s written by this author, it is a dream come true.
What a pleasure it is to read this rom-com filled with funny banter, life-threatening oceans, a strong hero of a man, and two hearts looking for their chance to be happy.
From the first page, humorous scenes abound with this female character down on her luck, family issues that never relent on her, and a future more adrift than floatsome. She is still bright and hopeful, but beneath there is a commotion of feelings that needed to be voiced. We can’t always be smiling in the face of grief, so I really appreciated that message.
I do believe we have to allow ourselves the healing acknowledgement of our own sorrows. One of the strong points of this story is precisely that. It allows room for failure, but also for growth and compassion for ourselves. It’s really uplifting till the end.
Besides that, it’s also a funny enemies-to-lovers romance that starts with two opposite personalities that clash and tease. I really enjoyed the angry meet-cute, the family reunion that sets the pace for the voyage which triggers the whole debacle and loss of civilization. It’s the perfect setting for raw emotions to fly, survival instincts to prevail and basic needs to rise over the things we think are essential but aren’t. And the passion is sinfully sensual.
I never thought I could envy a bunch of castaways! It actually was a believable and exciting recount of a risky tragedy at sea without going to deadly territory. All the trimmings of salty adventure and island life with a touch of fun and spiritual awakening amid lots of hot romance. Tai is quite the bait to visit New Zealand, if you ask me 😉
Lovewrecked is such an enjoyable and wonderful castaway story. This is a slow burn romance and while the sexual tension between Tai and Daisy is high (especially when they banter with each other which is hilarious), it’s well worth the wait. When Tai and Daisy finally get down to the nitty gritty, it is scorching and panty melting!! Even though they are complete opposites with Tai being the strong, silent and irresistibly sexy type and Daisy being sweet, quirky and a little high maintenance, they are definitely meant to be together.
If you’re looking for a fun and sexy quick read to take your mind off things, then I would definitely recommend reading Lovewrecked.
I’m not entirely sure what I was expecting going into this. Except for maybe getting out of my reading slump. I’m not sure I did, as I haven’t read anything after I finished this book last night, but my hopes are high.
As any returning reader will know, I am a part of Karina Halle’s ARC team which means that I get to read most of her releases. Lately I haven’t had a lot of time or really felt up to it but now I’m excited for it again. That being said, I will always be honest in my reviews and all opinions are my own.
I know I always mention the way that Karina describes the scenery in her books, she does it beautifully and so vividly that your mind paints a picture that’s almost like a memory of the time you were there yourself, except you never were. As I sat on my couch, yesterday, reading this book, my husband playing NFL20 on the PS4, I turned to him and said “I want to go to New Zealand”. This isn’t the first time I’ve mentioned New Zealand to him, the last time was back in 2015 when I read Where Sea Meets Sky which also takes place there and was also written by Karina Halle (there might be review for it here, not sure). The point, that I’m trying to make, is that the writing awakens the wanderlust in me. Reading these words makes me want to go places, to see the world, fall in love with different cultures, try all the foods, maybe find a new place to live my life and be happy with my husband.
What about the characters? They weren’t one dimensional, during the course of this story they evolved, became different versions of themselves, better versions of themselves. They discovered what was really important in life, they fell in love, the made life changes.
Usually I relate really well to the main female characters, this time it was bit harder, but also not. Daisy is an avid reader, she tries to put on a brave face and she loves wine. Basically, Daisy is me. But she’s also not because Daisy exercises, is jealous of her sister, doesn’t know how to commit (at first), she is bold. I really didn’t like her sister or her Little Dicky. I did enjoy Tai because when has Karina ever written a leading man that I didn’t like? He was a grump, trying to pretend he didn’t like Daisy. I like my men grumpy, those are actually the kind of men I write myself, usually (and by write I mean in the stories I conjure up in my head because they never actually make it to paper).
The reason, I think, that this books wasn’t a five star read is because it’s a slow burn, and I’m really not a fan of those. I mean it was worth it in the end and while I realize that it wasn’t really that slow of a burn it felt super slow to me. I usually prefer insta lust, sexy times soon after the first meeting if not at the first meeting and then maybe a slow burn. But, like I said, the wait for Daisy and Tai was worth it.
The book, all in all, was a great one.
So, while I go look for trips to New Zealand, you should head on over to your usual ebook retailer and buy the book, you will not be sorry!
xx Kayla
A standalone sexy romantic comedy about being stuck on a desert island with a man you hate to love and love to hate
Daisy Lewis is experiencing a relentless string of bad luck.
Fortunately, Daisy has her sister’s destination wedding coming up. A week of sand, sea, and sun in the South Pacific as the maid-of-honor is exactly what Daisy needs to forget her upturned life and focus on the positive.
Loved Daisy and Tais’s story. Talk about polar opposites but they totally worked together. Loved every paged of their story.
As a longtime fan of Karina Halle, I know she can create anything and I’ll enjoy it. That being said, I’m so used to reading her angsty, intense characters that I forgot how much I enjoyed her lighter works. Lovewrecked gives us a lighter escape from the craziness of our current world. Thai and Daisy seem delightfully opposite from each other from the start and we all know that those couples who are so seemingly different are that much more fun to see fall for each other. It’s always interesting to see how similar they are, despite the first impressions they give each other. He’s got some interesting and tragic history and she’s got some family baggage and together they are able to help each other move past the things that have held them back from the things they want. While their past informs their present, it’s not the predominant feature of this novel; no, that would be their epic adventure that has them shipwrecked for a few weeks. It’s that forced togetherness that really yields results, lol.
Lovewrecked’s last few chapters before the epilogue are timely in their ability to capture how many of us are feeling in this quarantined time and timeless in that surely anyone would feel what they feel, should they find themselves in a similar situation. It’s light on angst and heavy on fun characters, laugh out loud moments, and steamy romance–a definite escape from the daily grind.
I adored Karina Halle’s “Lovewrecked,” a delightful romantic comedy featuring likeable, well-rounded characters, an engaging plot, and a superbly developed slow burn romance between main characters Tai Wakefield and Daisy Lewis. The dynamic between Daisy and Tai as they slowly transitioned from frenemies to lovers was a lot of fun, and their banter frequently made me laugh out loud. The serious moments of the story were also incredibly well-written and kept me at the edge of my seat, particularly the shipwreck scene, which was very suspenseful without being overly dramatic.
I’m a big fan of grumpy heroes, so I found Tai to be a great lead character. He had more reason than most to be grumpy, having suffered more than his fair share of loss in his life, but I loved seeing him slowly come out of his shell as he and Daisy grew closer. They really seemed to bring out the best in each other, with Daisy helping Tai come to terms with his past hurts and Tai helping Daisy find a new direction in life.
Daisy was also a great main character, mostly because it was so easy for me to empathize with her. For years she tried to focus only on the positive, managing to hide her unhappiness even from herself in the process. As their time on the island lengthened, however, Daisy’s feelings eventually overwhelmed her and she was forced to face the fact that she wasn’t OK. When she did, I was right there with her. Everything she said, I’ve felt at some point in my life too. Obviously I’ve never been shipwrecked and stranded on a desert island, but the struggle she voiced was universal and so incredibly relatable.
In addition to the central romantic relationship between Tai and Daisy, I loved the complexity of Daisy’s relationship with her older sister Lacey. They were so different from each other, which made it tough for them to understand each other’s point of view, but it was clear to me how much they loved each other anyway. The story’s other secondary characters added a lot of depth and humor to the story as well, and Fred’s friendship with Wilson the goat was super cute (if a bit odd).
Overall, “Lovewrecked” was a wonderful story and I highly recommend it. I look forward to Karina Halle’s next book!
