A man ready to put the past behind him, a widow struggling to find a future, a boy in need of a father… and a small town where nothing stays secret.Tressa Danell is finished with men—from the wastrel who left her a widow, to the smelly trapper who keeps proposing, to the banker who wants to repossess her bakery. She spends every hour working to pay off her late husband’s debt and keep a roof over … husband’s debt and keep a roof over her son’s head, though it’s doubtful she can continue to do both for very long. But one thing’s certain—she’ll never be beholden to a man again.
Lighthouse keeper Mac Oakton has long dreamed of leaving Eagle Harbor and running a shipyard in a place where no one knows his family’s past. He’s tired of living in a small town where actions his father committed ten years ago still haunt him. So why does the pretty widow at the bakery keep tugging at his heart? He can’t get involved in her predicament when he’ll only be around for two more weeks.
But when Tressa’s burdens overwhelm her, they both face a decision. Can Mac find a way to help Tressa without giving up his dream of leaving town? And will Tressa accept his support if doing so means being obligated to a man again?

Enjoyed reading this book!
I loved this whole series. The author was amazing and told new story lines in each book of the series that kept you on the edge of your chair. Could not put them down.
Loved this book
Naomi Rawlings has written an interesting book about a Lake Michigan community in the late 1800’s. Tressa a recent widow and her son are trying to make ends meet, but keeps getting behind and creditors of her late husband attempt to collect from her. She meets Mac who works at the local lighthouse, and he tries to help her, but she is scarred from her first marriage, and refuses. The ups and downs she goes through and her budding faith carry her through. I enjoyed reading this book.
This book was very enjoyable to read. It was great to see how the people room care of each other even when they had little themselves, they trusted God would provide.
I recently decided to read this book by Naomi Rawlings because I love the Keweenaw Peninsula, the setting for this story. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Tressa’s story. I liked the way Rawlings added Christian aspects to the story without making it “preachy.”
By the end of the book, I felt like I had developed a relationship with the people of Eagle Harbor. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author.
Love’s Unfading Light (Eagle Harbor #1), my second read from author Naomi Rawlings. Well-written with memorable characters. December seemed to be my month for new authors, January & February & then March continued the trend, and now April. I got this book in November of 2018 and am just now getting around to reading it. “I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.” The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to Love’s Every Whisper (Eagle Harbor #2). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
It was a great, clean book to read!
This beautiful story that takes place in a town I visited many times in my college years in Houghton and Hancock, Michigan, in the same county as Eagle Harbor is in. This is one of the reasons when I saw this title, that I wanted to read it. It is such an amazing story in the century before I was born. I love historical romances and anyone that takes place in my home state will always be on my list.
One thing this wonderful story tells about besides the copper mining in Michigan and most of what gives the name to the Copper Country in Michigan, because there were many copper mines in that country and other places mostly I believe in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, is the history of the Great Lakes, especially Lake Superior. This story tells of just how quickly and how bad storms can be on this massively huge Lake and the others. This history given is factual as storms can even take down mighty cargo ships just as badly as the oceans. I was there when the mighty Fitzgerald went down in Lake Superior.
Anyway this has history that is intriguing, as a well written story with a lot going on. I highly encourage you to read this book and this series as I intend to. It’s going to be so good.
Again a wonderful book by Naomi Rawlings! Left alone by her husband Jessalyn with two little ones and one on the way can she make it on her own? When Thomas comes home can he make it right? A wonderful story you won’t want to put down! Each page enmeshed you in further and further! Enjoy!
An engaging, heart warming story from beginning to end. I’d really like to visit Tressa’s bakery and who wouldn’t fall a bit for dear Mac. Highly recommended!
How can so many terrible things happen one widow? You will fall into the depths of despair waiting for Tressa and Mac to figure out God’s plan for both of their lives!
Love’s Unfading Light by Naomi Rawlings
Eagle Harbor Series Book One
Tressa Danell just wants to run her bakery and have a home for her son. But it seems that living eleven years with her dastardly husband wasn’t enough. Otis Danell is going to haunt her from the grave with his debts. And she’s finding out the man had plenty of them.
Mac Oakton’s life hadn’t been easy. After his father swindled the good people of Eagle Harbor, Michigan…he left town. He left Mac. Thankfully the Cummings took him and accepted him as one of their own. Still, he’d be leaving this town who only saw him as the son of Clive Oakton.
Two people who are suffering for someone else’s sins. One the widow and the other the son of swindlers. Neither seeing their true worth through the eyes of God and those around them. Wonderful story of breaking free of the past and believing in a possible future.
