A New Job. A Whirlwind Romance. An Elopement. But what happens when it all falls apart? Avery Loggins had no one to depend on but herself. She learned a long time ago that her mom couldn’t be trusted to keep her word, and she’d never had the love of a father. When she landed a job at a popular diner assisting the very handsome but surly chef, Dean Galloway, she only had three rules: Always stay … surly chef, Dean Galloway, she only had three rules: Always stay one step ahead of whatever he needed (basically keep the beast happy), treat the man who was used to accolades and lots of attention like any other Joe, and last of all, no googly eyes. Ever.
One night out on the town led to feelings both Avery and Dean never expected, and before they knew what happened, they were both smitten and saw forever in each other’s eyes.
But when Avery couldn’t let go of insecurities about her family background, she left Dean with little more than a note to say goodbye.
It wasn’t until they both learned the meaning of sacrifice that they were able to put it all on the line and find the kind of love that lasts a lifetime.

Love’s Sacrifice is a well-written romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. In fact, I read it twice; something that I rarely ever do. The main characters are likable and well-developed. There are twists and turns in the story. I relished the theme of sacrificial love. I would highly recommend this story to readers of sweet romance and to Christian romance readers. I plan to read more of this author’s works. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this marvelous story.
Avery after being married and on her honeymoon decided that she made a huge mistake. She leaves Dean her husband a note and leaves while he is sleeping. This is the VERY BASIC BEGINNING to the story. They truly love each other….what happened? I really enjoyed and felt Gods Love in this story. Suspenseful romantic mystery you just can’t put down. I was given this in a free book giveaway and I voluntarily leave this review.
well written
Avery and Dean never expected there to be an “and” between them. She was hurting from her fiance’s betrayal; he just wanted to do his job. Together in the small kitchen of Betty’s Diner, they found a way to make it work–during business hours.
But can they make a relationship work?
When we first meet them, neither Avery nor Dean consider religion to be worth their time or energy. As the story unfolds, their understanding grows.
This novella is a clean inspirational read about two individuals who must find forgiveness, face their fears, and communicate honestly to find a forever love. Evangeline Kelly delivers another engaging story with a powerful message that love conquers all fears.
My favorite quote is : “Fear had a way of dividing people while love brought them together.”
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I loved both Avery and Dean right from the start! Dean had a very rough exterior but it soon showed what he was like underneath that hands-off shell he put forward. You could see how in spite of her rough start growing up Avery had worked hard to get to the place she was but for obvious reasons harbored self-esteem issues. I love the way the author showed so clearly that no matter what a person goes through in life we all have a desperate need of Salvation through Christ! The way she wove that fact into a story that pulled you in and made you long to keep reading and root for this ever so unusual couple was beautiful to read! This is an amazing story!
I received an advanced copy of this book from the author but this review is my voluntary and honest opinion.
5 Stars
I received a free copy of the clean novel Love’s Sacrifice by Evangeline Kelly in the 14 book collection Love’s Treasure – A Christian Romance Collection – Limited Edition and this review was given freely.
This is a fast paced instant attraction romance with a touch of humor and two stories of salvation where insecurity over childhood abandonment and her mother’s drug abuse skews newly graduated graphic designer Avery’s view on love and her self-esteem.
This couple has a few things in common, both are relationship shy, stubborn and resisting the pull of salvation. I was truly surprised at Dean, his determination and love for Avery are admirable. I was truly shocked at her actions yet she’s very realistic. Both have big hearts and are in need of a little spiritual guidance to help them open up to one another.
Avery needs some income until her graphic design work becomes more popular. Betty’s Diner need a new cook. A match made in heaven – I don’t think so. Not at first anyway. When Avery meets Dean, the gruff and angry chef, her internal alarm bells go into 4 alarm fire mode. Determined to make it work, Avery grits her teeth, puts a big smile on her face and lets her strong work ethic take over. Her determination makes Dean take a second look. Love blooms, but will that be enough? Where does the sacrifice come in?
This is a delightful, heart-tugging story of two people who have no time for God and certainly no time to question whether or not they will be going to heaven.
I loved being able to read about the way God had a perfect plan for them, even when they refused to listen. I will highly recommend this book to all my friends who love to read.
Avery has depended on no one but herself, weighed down by her family history and the impact it’s had on her relationships. Dean runs his kitchen with the ferocity of a lion defending its den. He doesn’t anticipate Avery standing up to him, let alone worming her way into his heart. Until a wonderful date leads to an impromptu wedding and Avery freaks out. I love the way Evangeline Kelly worked through Dean and Avery, bringing them both to a place of faith and sacrifice where they could face the consequences of a rash decision, but still find a way to lasting love.
I love Evangeline Kelly’s inspirational stories. This is a sweet love story with two imperfect main characters. They both needed to learn to trust and, for Avery especially, how to communicate. I could not put it down.
Wonderful Christmas Season Romance
This is a warm, clean and faith filled romance. It is a great story with deep characters and an interesting plot. Not unlike O. Henry’s ‘Gift of the Magi”, this has a memorable ending. This author always writes good and thoughtful stories and this does not disappoint. I received this book (ARC) at no cost and chose to post my honest review.
