Colin Campbell had been a champion all his life. Nothing had ever beaten him, not even a drug lord’s bullet. And he approached law school the same way he approached everything in life, with cocky confidence fizzing through his veins like ginger ale. He had it all. He had the looks, the brains, the experience, the know-how and he also had the love of his life at his side. He couldn’t be defeated.… defeated.
But he hadn’t counted on the gravitas of law school, the reading, the preparation, the cases, the competition, the Socratic Method, the concepts, the grading curve, the expectations, the finals, memos, study groups, outlines… all of it piled and heaped upon those preparing for a career as an attorney until it wasn’t surprising that some of them simply imploded under the weight of it all.
Suddenly Colin was spinning out of control, scrambling to keep up, rarely ever seeing Joshua. His grades slumped as he tried desperately to balance the opposing forces in his life, but his only solution was stretching himself thinner and thinner, until he feared he’d be torn in two. Joshua pleaded with him to slow down, but Colin refused to lighten his load and the path before them grew darker and darker.
They’d been through so much and survived. Would law school be the storm they could not weather? Would it do what a drug lord’s bullet could not – hand Colin Campbell the bitter defeat he never believed he’d have to face?
Or would the man he loved find a way to draw him back from the abyss.

This was my first story by Janice Jarrell and will NOT be my last. It had all the feels, very emotional. Colin is a strong overachieving man and is stronger having Joshua at his side. Joshua is a super supportive husband. I loved their story. I could easily read this several times. Must read, highly recommend!
Colin and Josh are back! (an audio review)
I have loved this author’s work from the beginning. Colin and Josh pulled me in. Colin with his cocky Irish charm and no-nonsense attitude. Josh with his loving heart and his desire to help other people. Josh is a counsellor and it brought him into conflict with Colin and things were pretty heated, but soon the men realized they were attracted to each other. That attraction soon morphed into more and despite their differences – or perhaps because of them – they fell in love.
Next came the realities of the relationship. Josh has a stressful job and Colin’s a cop. He was there for the Charlottesville riots and the level of hatred Colin witnessed had a profound impact on him. Then he got shot and nearly died. That nearly broke Josh who wanted to be supportive but also struggled to keep his stubborn Irishman from pushing too hard in rehab. Colin is disdainful of weakness and his biggest fear is that Josh not see him as completely competent.
When the lustre falls away from being a cop, and Colin realizes Josh will never be comfortable with Colin’s career again, a new challenge emerges.
Law School.
And Colin isn’t just going to finish a three-year program in two years, he’s going to be the best. No matter the cost – to him personally or to his relationship with Josh.
Josh is all-in. He’s supportive of Colin’s new passion but watching his husband fall apart isn’t part of the marriage vow he can abide by. It’s not an easy go and more than once I wanted to knock some sense into the Irishman.
I had worried about an entire book being about law school. Certainly no action to be found here. But there was conflict. Conflict from all sides. Poor Colin just couldn’t seem to catch a break – although a lot of it was self-inflicted. I enjoyed the book. This is the first book in a new series and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.
And I’ll mention narrator Walker Williams. He’s perfect for the series and I can’t imagine anyone else doing such a great job. Can’t wait for the next one.
Love’s Lawyer by Janice Jarrell is the first book in The Fearless Heart series. Collin and Joshua experience more trials and tribulations in their journey through life together, but their love story is strong and beautiful. Lots of emotion and heat. Loved it! Walker Williams does a wonderful narration job, with a clean recording and a n enjoyable voice performance.
I’m reviewing the audio edition. I had read the book before I got the opportunity to hear Walker Williams narrate it. He brings so much to the story. The narration makes the story really come to life. His portrayal of these two gives each a unique personality. This series gives me book hangover when I finish each story. Each story gets more and more intense even though the last story sure was very emotional. This is mainly following Colin’s college experience. Colin being the strong personality and high achiever causes him to makes some bad choices and almost pushes Josh to the limit. I have to admit I’m not sure I can see Colin as an attorney. He is so competitive that I’m not sure what he would do if he lost. I love the song Colin sings for Josh. It’s so easy to picture him singing. After all the situations they and their friends go through I was totally surprised that Colin didn’t sit back for a little while before causing more stress for Josh but the surprise ending causes me to believe his “promises” will keep him in trouble for awhile or forever. I’m also curious to see where Josh will go with his career enhancement.
I just love these characters and the secondary characters. They come alive and are so likable. I like how this author focuses on experiences and doesn’t villainize any of the main or recurring characters. She has a way of making their daily life so emotional in good and bad ways that I can be mad on one page, ready to cry on the next, laugh in a few more pages and swoon as the story goes on.
My only problem is the book gets over before I’m ready. Her writing isn’t fast enough for me….but no one could make a quality story as fast as I wish for the next. I also am so attached to these characters I wonder just how far she can go. Hopefully I will get to see years and years of their lives as they interact with others.
This is the first book in the new series but we’ve already met Josh and Collin in the previous series. This book can be read as a standalone because the author has an amazing ability to recap the important events without making you feel like you’re missing something. Although I highly recommend the other books because they’re absolutely brilliant. I really loved reading about those two again. I had missed them and they are wonderful together. It was heartbreaking to see them struggle but at the same time this is one of the reasons I love the author’s books so much. They just feel so real. I loved Colin and Josh’s journey . Fantastic book and the narrator brought them to life beautifully.
Oh how I love a continuing story like this. I loved revisiting Josh and Colin they have such a beautiful relationship with a very real feel to it. Overall it’s well written and developed but don’t start here for their story!
Love’s Lawyer is the first book in the Fearless Heart series, but it is also the next book in the continuing saga of Josh and Colin. And it is probably my new favorite story in this series. Well-written with amazing main characters as well as a great supporting cast, the book will pull you in and hold your attention until the last page. It has the right amount of angst, emotion, romance…a combination I’ve come to expect from Janice Jarrell. The characters become real, and you don’t want to let them go. On top of that all is the interactions, dialogue, and the heat. Whew! Did I mention they are steamy together?
They didn’t have the best start, but they have gone through trials and tribulations, and they have always overcome, standing beside each other. Love’s Lawyer brings new challenges into their lives, and as usual, they don’t cope well. They learn to adapt though. I loved this story and couldn’t stop turning the pages until I reached the end. I’m already wanting the next book in the series. 4.5 stars and I highly recommend you pick it up yourself. One-click today!

Overall: 5
I loved the book and I loved the audiobook even more.
I read Love’s Lawyer back in May of 2020 and I loved it. I knew then that the only thing that could make me love it more was if Walker Williams performed the audiobook like he has for the other books that Janice Jarrell has written. I was so happy to get the opportunity to listen to this audiobook. Unless he also does audiobooks under another name, the books for Janice Jarrell are the only ones I can find on Audible that he’s done.
I really can’t say enough good things about Walker’s performance. I love the voices he uses and I love the emotions he puts into the words; he has really made Janice Jarrell’s books even more special than they were when I read them.
Below is what I wrote after I read the book last year.
Oh so hot and a great story!
If you don’t like books with lots of hot loving and terms of endearment then you might as well stop reading now. Love’s Lawyer is such a great story and it’s full of hot sexy time between Josh and Colin.
It’s story that was sometimes hard to read as Colin tried to adapt to life as a student and the pressure of law school. He really struggled at times and did not welcome Josh’s help when he tried to give it. Colin sets nearly unreasonable standards for himself and it comes close to being his undoing.
Josh tries his best to be supportive but he can only take so much. When things finally come to a head, he has to make Colin understand what he’s doing to himself and to them. With the help of their friends, Nate and David things get better.
Love’s Lawyer is full of all kinds of feels and it brought me to tears more than once. It ends with John and Colin in a good place but I know there is more to come for these two and I can’t wait to read the next book.
A copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Visiting Josh and Collin’s world never gets boring! Yet another adventure and it still feels fresh, engaging and so emotional!
I love how mature the approach to the characters is! The focus on their emotions is full on and there are no shortcuts. The reader gets it all, right where it hurts or makes you laugh.
As with all the previous parts, just YES!
Janice Jarrell has written another book with Colin and Josh. This story began in the REVOLUTIONARY HEART SERIES. With this next journey they carry on in the FEARLESS HEART. As their life together continues to grow and change, Colin enters law school, armed with determination and his stubborn Irish pride. As Colin struggles, Josh also struggles right beside him. This book is MAGNIFICENTLY written. You feel every emotion these characters feel. I’m looking forward to reading about the next leg of their journey. I fell in love with these characters all over again. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!!
