I loved him first.Jake was my best friend in college-my very straight best friend, until one night he was more. He may have ran after what happened between us, but I never forgot him. When fate puts us in the same place, five years later, he has a fiance by his side. Carina is beautiful, driven, and draws my attention almost as much as he still does. A game of truth or dare leads to a wild night … dare leads to a wild night and a relationship that has all our feelings growing into something bigger than any of us intended.
But what happens when our feelings deepen? Can I handle being with two people?
If it means I can have him, I’ll love them both.

This book wrecked me and I KNEW IT WOULD from very early on but I kept going (glutton for punishment that I am) and I could not be happier about it. First of all, there are SO MANY SEXY BITS. Like, so many. But somehow, they don’t feel gratuitous – they are indicative of the psychoses that Jake, Carina, and Jackson are going through as they try to navigate their relationship(s). I was in AGONY for each of the characters for 85% of the book. And while I am utterly satisfied with the ending we got (it could not have concluded in a better way), I sincerely hope that this is not the end of the story. Fiona Cole manages to portray the longing and vulnerability of each of the characters in such a real and beautiful way that reading this book felt like an experience. And for me personally, I felt such a connection with Carina and seeing her arc resonated with me so deeply – it served as a reinforcement of a truth a lot of women need to remember: you deserve to be first. We deserve passion and affection and reciprocity. We deserve respect and acknowledgement. Any book that can convey such an important message AND serve such major HEAT deserves all the stars and wine glasses. 5 out of 5 wine glasses.
Holy heck! You know, I didn’t even read the blurb on this one. I had read that it was a MMF type romance and I just knew I wanted to dive into it. I had never read a book written by this author before but I am delighted to say she has found a fan for life!
I was expecting one thing about this story, hot MMF scenes, and that is what I got. It. Was. Hot! I did not however, expect the twist that I got. But oh my goodness this book just hit my top favourite reads EVER.
I loved the swirls of emotions from all the characters, it all felt so real. Real reactions, real connections, real angst. I just loved it ALL.
I want to say so much about this story but I do not want to give anything away so I will just stick to vague reviewing! I loved the characters, they made me feel so much. I was hurt for Jackson a couple of times but those times were redeemed and I understood why they happened. I can not wait to read more from this author, and I am so excited that I have many books of hers to go back and read. This book is worth 100 stars out of 5 for me.
I adore this story.
Wow! I have to start off by saying this book was so much more than I expected. The feels, chemistry, ups and down in this book took my feelings and toyed with them while keeping me riveted until the last page. I was expecting a typical MMF read but Jake, Jackson and Carina’s story was complex, beautiful and had my heart torn. I wasn’t sure which way I wanted the story to play out and my emotions were all over the place. There were moments when I wasn’t sure I wanted to keep reading but I was so addicted and invested I had to know what happened. The Lovers is a steamy and riveting pageturner with all the feels and a definite must read!
Well, I really didn’t see that one coming! I was swept up in Jake, Carina and Jackson’s story right from the start and I was glued to the pages until the very end. Fiona Cole is a master at expressing emotions and building angst. I felt like I was sharing in every joyous moment, every tear that was shed and every heartbreak that graced the pages. This book was a journey of self-discovery for all three of the main characters. They shared in the ups and downs, but in the end, each grew braver, stronger and wiser for all he or she went through. I also enjoyed Andrew’s character and the lighthearted fun he brought to the story. I hope we see more of these characters in the future.
The Lovers by Fiona Cole is my first read by this author and all I can say is, why wasn’t I introduced to this author before now!?
The Lovers is fantastic. It’s MMF genre isn’t just hot connections and romance, it’s emotionally heartfelt too. The three main characters Carina, Jake and Jackson are brilliantly written.
A game of truth or dare leads to more for Jake and Jackson who then try to forget. But 5 years later, they are thrown together again to work on a project, with Carina too. Will these three work out what and who they want?
The Lovers is part of the Cards of Love series and after starting out on this series, I will be reading more – not just from the series but from the author too.
5 stars
I mean I was rooting for Jake and Jackson even from the start of Callum and Oaklynns story. The up and down was yum. It sucked that Carina was caught in the middle but I loved the internal psychological fights of what you want naturally vs what society expects for you. This is a story of finding yourself, learning to stand up for your beliefs; of putting it all out there laid out in order to come home; home is not just a place but the people in it. I absolutely loved this book. And the sex was fire.

Cole weaves a tale of lust, longing and unrequited love that had me turning the pages. There was a lot of angst going on throughout the entire story and as a reader I felt connected to all of the characters, because the three POV’s were written extremely well and clear, not to mention the sex scenes were absolutely on fire.
Plot, pacing and character development were great, and Cole is a hell of a story teller. I loved the taboo nature of the relationships in the book and the peak back into exhibitionism was crazy satisfying, as I’m a huge fan of that in books.
This one gets 3.5 stars from me only because it didn’t go the way I had hoped, everything else was fantastic. Laying it all out there is extremely spoilerish, and I never do that. I’m hoping we step back into the Voyuer world very soon. If you love ménage books with a definitely give this one a go.
I am blown away!!! This is my first book written by Fiona Cole and I am hooked!! She created 3 well defined characters in this MMF story that all had my heart racing, my pulse pounding and my mind so desperate for more!! I love the relationships between Jake, Jackson and Carina. The chemistry between them was sizzling hot, the intimate scenes were so descriptive you’ll feel like you’re right there with them!! I loved the story line, fast moving, lot’s of intense moments and just plain amazing!! I loved reading this book so much that I just hated to see it end! Now to find all the rest of Fiona’s books and start devouring them!!! Highly recommended!!
A simple game of “Truth or Dare” changes these 3 characters lives forever! THE LOVERS was a sexually charged and emotional story that took me on quite a journey! I went from fanning myself from all the tension to feeling my heart break into pieces in the next chapter. And I loved every min of it!
Jackson, Jake and Carina were the perfect trio, until they weren’t.
Jackson knows who he is and who he wants, but he’s afraid to take the chance.
Jake is confused about WHO he is and his feelings for his best friend. That fear causes old pain to surface and new wounds to develop.
Carina is feeling lost in her relationship and in an attempt to figure out their future, she is left feeling more lost than ever.
All three characters need each other to figure out what needs to happen next in their lives, but WHO will get hurt in the end?
This was a novel about friendships and second-chances. THE LOVERS may be a M/F/M novel, but deep down, it was more than that. At it’s core, THE LOVERS was about finding acceptance for yourself and allowing yourself happiness no matter how that looks and who that’s with.
Fiona Cole’s writing kept me coming back for more. Each encounter was HOT! And the relationship develop between these characters was perfectly paced. It was taboo and forbidden and Fiona executed it deliciously! I’m so glad she took the time to delve into Jackson’s HEA…I didn’t realize how much I wanted to read his story, until she announced it was happening!
If you read VOYEUR, you will definitely want to read Jackson’s story. And if you haven’t read VOYEUR, where have you been?!?! LOL! But for reals, you can read this as a standalone or a spinoff, either way, I believe you’ll enjoy it.

This is Jackson’s story if you read Voyeur he was introduced there and I couldn’t wait for his story.
Fiona does an amazing job at writing this MMF is so full of hot moments and emotions. It really suck you in. I loved every minute of this story.
Truly recommend it. Also if you haven’t read Voyeur is not necessary to read it but it will give you a glimpse of Jackson.

* read an ARC and this is my honest opinion
This book has my speechless it is everything and more well done Fiona it is amazing
The story took me on a little adventure with all of the characters’ emotions. I thought the story would go one way but I was wrong. Was it a bad thing? No because I felt the tension, hurt, and redemption in the author’s words. Holy hell this story was hot. Fiona Cole knows how to write a sexy scene! The sexy scenes added to the story and didn’t overshadow the love story being told. I really loved how the epilogue reflected the maturity of Carina, Jake, and Jackson. I’m really anticipating the next story in this hot little word FC’s created!
Cards of Love: The Lovers by Fiona Cole melted my Kindle screen and my heart! This scorching hot MMF romance was dirty, sexy and totally addictive! I’m going to buy that new waterproof Kindle and reread some of the good parts while sitting in an ice bath;) All kidding aside, The Lovers packed an emotional punch with a super slap of sexy! Don’t miss this one.Lovers Fiona Cole
Wow! What a hot read this was! This was by far the best book I have read by this author, and I love all her books! It was wonderfully angsty and naughty too, just what I’ve come to expect and love from Ms. Cole. Straight to my favorites shelf! Well done!
Ladies this is a must read book. If you are looking for steamy hot, a tangled love story, and a book you can’t put is is it! I loved every minute of it. Jackson and Jake you stole my heart and made me laugh too. Fiona Cole you Rock!
Yes, The Lovers is a hot and sexy MMF read with scenes that will light your heart and panties on fire. But what is fantastic about Fiona and her writing, she gives us so much more than just the hot and sexy times. She gives us characters that we fall in love with and swoon over! She gives us heart and raw emotions from characters that are struggling to understand what they want out of a relationship. Bottom line, we get it all and then some!
Jake and Jackson were best friends in college, but their relationship was put to the test after a night of playing their infamous game of truth or dare. Fast forward 5 years and fate brings Carina, Jake and Jackson together to work on a project that will have them interacting daily. The three of them find themselves playing the very game that tore Jake and Jackson apart, but now Carina in the mix.
I loved Carina, Jake and Jackson. My heart broke for them as they traveled down this unknown road. The dynamic of their relationship is new and exciting, but once strong feelings are involved the lines become blurred. This is a complex relationship, it’s so much more than the physical attraction the three of them have for one another. There is mutual respect, admiration and true affection. What started as a dare, turns into something none of them imagined. The journey between these three is more than just lust and fantasy, and that’s what makes this romance so special.
Cards of Love: The Lovers by Fiona Cole was A SMOKING HOT, SEXY MMF romance that I devoured! Now I’m not normally a MM reader, but I’m a HUGE Fiona Cole reader, so I wanted to read more about Jackson, whom we met in her book Voyeur.
The chemistry, the heat, the passion all the emotion, and feels tied up in a beautifully written story. The Lovers definitely covered them all. Jake, Jackson and Corina WOW! I LOVED these characters!
This book is a must read if your in the mood for a sexy, hot MMF book with all the feels and emotions The Lovers is definitely the book for you!
Truth. Or dare?
Love is love, no matter what form, or what variety it may come. Never let anyone tell you different. That’s something the people in this book learned. Some would say the hard way. No, definitely not the easy road for sure, but I say the only way that makes sense to them. The only way they could have learned what they needed to. Lessons of the heart, lessons between lovers can only be learned one way. Through experience. And that’s what they have. One really wicked, wicked experience.
Jake and Carina had been engaged for two years, and friends longer than that. So experimenting in the bedroom isn’t new to them. Adding someone new is.
Jackson and Jake were best friends in college before one night changed everything between them. Not able to handle the change in their dynamic, Jake pulled away and their friendship faded. Seeing each other so many years later brought up old hurt, but also new opportunities.
As the three of them work on the new club Jackson is opening, they also do some more personal work. Making fantasies come true. How do you stop when things start to get too real, without hurting anyone? Thus presents the problem. And the hard road they must travel down to learn their truths, whatever they may be. While the road is hard at times (in more ways than one ) it is always a really wicked ride.
An emotional and scorching hot story!! I was hooked from the very first page and it refused to let me go until the very end. This one has everything a reader could want in a book plus so much more.
