I loved him first.Jake was my best friend in college-my very straight best friend, until one night he was more. He may have ran after what happened between us, but I never forgot him. When fate puts us in the same place, five years later, he has a fiance by his side. Carina is beautiful, driven, and draws my attention almost as much as he still does. A game of truth or dare leads to a wild night … dare leads to a wild night and a relationship that has all our feelings growing into something bigger than any of us intended.
But what happens when our feelings deepen? Can I handle being with two people?
If it means I can have him, I’ll love them both.

One of the perks of being a romance author is being friends with other romance authors. So when you’re reading a book that just FLOORS you, you can pause at the 70% mark and send the following message to your friend:
*****Me: Fiona, you sneaky, gifted bitch. You sucked me in with the hot as fuck mmf scenes and now I’m on my couch with a cat on my lap crying over these people like they’re my best friends.*****
OMG this book. I don’t know if I have enough swoons available to express my feelings for this book. I think I need to enter some kind of swoon-recovery program so I can build up a new store of them. And once I had enough, I would give them all to The Lovers all over again.
*****Me: I’m 13% of the way in. Guuuuuuurl. There is sex dripping off the pages ALREADY*****
There is no doubt this is an erotic romance. The sex scenes are mind-meltingly hot, and even the quiet moments are charged with a steamy energy that made me have to keep shifting positions as I read. This is a “feel weird while you’re reading with your kids in the same room,” book. This is a “stay up way to late reading and then shake your husband awake” book. This is a “give me another one of those hits I crave” book… and honestly I’m going through withdrawal now.
*****Me: So here’s the story. Every night I cuddle one or both of my kids to sleep. I usually read during this process. So I start your book last night with my kid all nuzzled up, figuring that I’ve got some time before things heat up.
Uh, no.
I was… really grateful in that moment my kid refuses to learn how to read.
Start with a bang… literally*****
But the thing that separates The Lovers from the rest of the erotic romance pack is the emotion. God, these characters are so real, their emotions so fully realized, their pain so palpable. I want to grab Jackson by the lapels of his shirt and tell him to stop accepting second best. I want to hug Jake and then shake him hard. I want to guzzle bottles of wine with Carina while we bake a pan of brownies. These were real people to me and honestly I’m a little ticked off they’re not my in real life friends. Like, I’m already thinking about how I would have advised them differently to avoid their heartbreak. Is that insane? I don’t actually care. Because I LOVED The Lovers.
Lovers
Voyeur #2
By: Fiona Cole
Narrated by: Greg Boudreaux, Teddy Hamilton, Jo Raylan
Wow. I am full of emotions. This listen not only steamy, the feelings and relationships drive this story to perfection. Jake and Carina are engaged. Love is strong, after all they are best friends. When Carina’s fantasy of two men comes to light, Jackson, Jake’s best friend from college is a prime candidate. Only problem? He has feelings for Jake. Will this trio end well? My heart in turmoil, I was torn for both Carina and Jackson. But my real frustration was for Jake. He is lost, unable to reconcile his feelings and as a result we are in limbo with him! I wanted all three to be happy, hoping they would find a way to make it all work, and while in the end the happily ever after is there, it’s not what I was anticipating! Angsty and passionate, Cole had me on a roller coaster of emotions in the best way possible, and I wasn’t sure I was ready to get off! It was that good.
The narration of this book was definitely and enhancer too! The trio of Greg Boudreaux, Teddy Hamilton and Jo Raylan bring out all the emotional tugs at my heart and had my earbuds glued in. I needed to know how it was going to turn out, and the fabulous interpretations of the characters by these three had me captivated.

This book was one of my first MMF Books I’ve read and honestly I really enjoyed it.
At first I wasn’t 100% on board with the story but after getting to know all the characters more I quickly fell in love with each and everyone of them.
Carina was by far my favorite character of Fiona’s and my heart broke for her everytime something bad happend to her even though I can understand everyone’s point of view in the book.
I can honestly recommend this book to everyone and to everyone who wants to try out MMF.
Fiona’s writing was phenomenal and I hope to read more books from her very soon.
Well dang…
I went in blind..had no idea what this book was about. I just picked up cuz one of my book friends raved and raved about it and I am happening to meet this Author in Dallas at an author event this weekend…sooo what a better time to pick it up and fall in love with a new author to me.
And that is just what happened. I fell in love!! Cant wait to pick up more books by Fiona Cole cuzz man I do love her writing and her smoldering Hawt writing!! Sooo glad I picked up Lovers!!!
One of the best MMF books I’ve ever read!
This book absolutely blew me away it’s my first book to read by Fiona and it won’t be my last. Talk about a angsty, powerful love story that involved 3 people and a game of truth and dare that changed the lives of 3 people. This book left me feeling all the emotions, from crying about why to wanting to throw or hit something to laughing at their banter and the damn heat level of steaminess coming off this book could melt even the coldest heart. I can honestly say this book has left me with a lasting impression of just how wrong it is to deny your feeling’s when you feel what you feel for someone and love does find a way. Don’t take my word for it grab it for yourself and find out what happens.
This is my opinion and my voluntary review
Holy crap. I had to take a couple days to figure out what I was going to say in my review for this story. I really could not put this story down. The whole thing blew me away, but the ending, the ending tore me up and then stitched me back together.
I refuse to give anything away. But know that you have to read this book. It does have MM and MFM in it, so if that is not your thing don’t read it. But if you can get past it the story is wonderful.
This story is beyond hot! Jackson, Jake and Carina are what my x-rated dreams are made of!! I’m really having a hard time finding the words to express the complete awesomeness that is this book!!! After reading Voyeur I knew I was going to want to read Jackson’s story. I was absolutely NOT disappointed in his story! It was everything I hoped it would be and so much much much more. Every part of this book continued to suck me in. Every page was more and more words I couldn’t get enough of. I don’t want to spoil anything, so I won’t go into detail…I will just say that there is one part to most threesome stories that REALLY bothers me and turns me off… But I had faith that Fiona would make it ok for me. She did! All the feels with this one… And be careful!!! Your e-reader may melt while reading!!! GO ONE-CLICK NOW!!!
I wanted Jackson’s story from the moment we met him in Voyeur, and Fiona did not disappoint!! The tension between Jackson and Jake is so intense it just keeps you turning the pages waiting for them to explode with passion. I was almost sad to get to the end because then it was over, but it was so worth the read.
So much heat and emotion!
This book is so much more than I expected. I knew it would be good, because Fiona Cole writes such incredibly passionate and edgy books. I just didn’t anticipate how invested in The Lovers I would become.
These characters, with their soul searching and heartache, captivated me. I genuinely cared about how how their story ended…and I wasn’t 100% sure how it would end. I love that I can still be pleasantly surprised by where an author will take a story. To avoid spoilers, I’ll leave out specifics, but this is a scorching hot MMF book from the same world as Ms Cole’s previous book, Voyeur. Yum…
Read this, savor it, get swept up in the flood of emotion Fiona Cole created. You’ll be glad you did, I know I am!
This book was amazing. I love Jake and Jackson, I think they’re adorable. I love Carina, and I hope she can find her own happy ending as well. They treated her so badly, and she deserves happiness too
While not the kind of trope I typically read, I am so glad that I gave this book a chance. This book was smokin hot and insanely steamy! We saw Jackson in the last Book “Voyeur” and this one brings up the guy friend that he mentioned that was straight but he had ONS with. Jackson is leaving behind his job at Voyeur and going to be the manager at their new bar called Voy. Two people come in to help get the bar up and running, Jake and Carina. Jake is Jackson’s friend (these similar names gave me a hard time throughout the book) and Carina is his fiance! Carina is the one who wants her and Jake to watch Jackson perform at Voyeur. She is very interested in threesomes and is the one who also asks Jackson to join them in the bedroom. The sex between them is very hot and I love how close they all got and continued on their relationship that way. I was actually disappointed when they didn’t figure out a way to continue their relationship long term that way. I was happy to see Carina has her own story though.
Loved it! Everything looked perfect on the outside for Carina & Jake. Great jobs & engaged to your best friend! What could go wrong? Jackson had been Jake’s friend in college. He also worked at Voyeur. Carina made Jackson an offer that he couldn’t refuse. Will the three of their lives ever be the same?
Where to start??? This book is AMAZING! Complex, smart, conflicted, likeable and hot characters. Snark, wit, humor, self-doubt, insecurity, pain, loss and anger … all in one of the hottest stories wrapped up in layer upon layer of deep and powerful emotions. Absolutely excellent writing filled with fully developed individual characters readers will highly care about. I loved this book and strongly recommend.
OMG This book!!! I am not a huge fan of love triangles but this book was so different from any other love triangle I’ve read. Fiona did an amazing job on these different POV’s and basically wreaked havoc on my chest cavity. Jackson, Jake & Carina are incredible characters. This is a definite must-read. This series is amazing. ( I listened to this as an audiobook on a road trip and the narrators are on point- they brought this amazing story to life SO WELL)
Lovers is the second book in Fiona’s AMAZING Voyeur series. It’s my favourite of the bunch, which is saying a LOT because the entire series is SO GOOD!!
Jake Wellington and Carina Russo have been fated to be together since they were kids. Their fathers built a business together and the family joke for years had been that Jake and Carina would get married and take over the business in time. After college, their families got their wish when their friendship became more.
Jake and Carina love each other SO much, neither one of them doubts that. And neither one of them has any complaints in the bedroom, but they both begin to feel an unexplained distance growing between them.
An interesting opportunity presents itself when an old college friend of Jake’s, Jackson Fields, explodes into their lives. Jake and Jackson’s close friendship had come to an abrupt end several years earlier after a very sexy game of Truth or Dare with their friends got out of hand. Jackson had always been openly bisexual, but Jake was 100% straight – or so he believed. The encounter with Jackson freaked him out so badly he cut Jackson out of his life. What Jake didn’t know was that Jackson has been in love with Jake forever. Although, knowing Jake was straight, he never thought he would have a chance.
As the three of them start working together and hanging out, Carina starts to think maybe Jackson is the key to spicing up their sex life. She invites Jackson into their bedroom, and things start to get REALLY interesting.
Jake is able to acknowledge and explore the side of himself that has always been attracted to Jackson. But as their relationship as a threesome grows, Jake and Jackson’s connection becomes undeniable. But Jake can’t bear to hurt Carina, and for him to be with Jackson would tear her apart.
Fiona does such an amazing job of getting into the heads of all three characters. I cried when Jake was so distraught about hurting Carina, and I cried when Carina realized what was going on between the two men. And I cried again when Jackson believed he was never going to be able to love Jake the way he wanted to.
Lovers shows us how complicated love can be. And how hard it is to face the fact that being true to yourself may end up hurting people you love. And all three of the characters have such incredible strength, that shows up in very different ways.
Lovers is absolutely one of my favourite books ever. I’ve read it more than once, and listened to the audiobook, and every time is just as steamy and emotional. I never get tired of these characters, and I always want more from all of them. The next book in the series follows Carina, and her journey to her own happily ever after.
Lovers by Fiona Cole really tested my limits. This hotter than hell, angsty and soulful story just won my heart. This was an emotional rollercoaster for sure. But the pain was so worth it.
Jackson Fields had feelings for his best friend Jake Wellington since that one drunken night in college. The night that broke them. Now years later they are face to face again for business. Jackson is in charge of the new bar Voy, a division of the sex club Voyeur where he works part time. Jake and HIS FIANCE Karina are in charge of marketing and designing. Jake doesn’t understand his carnal reactions towards Jackson. And everything gets complicated when Karina invites Jackson in their home and their bed for some sexy adventures.
So first thing, I was hurting for Karina so bad. Even though I have already read her amazing HEA, I was sad for this amazing, talented girl with the biggest heart. Now the story was on a fine balance. I think the cheating didn’t bother me as much as I expected because the author showed the deficit and distance between Karina and Jake even before Jackson appeared in the scene. The background story of college also helped to make it realistic. Still it was a rough journey. Jake was in total denial and he hurt both Karina and Jackson by clinging to his preconceived notions about sexuality. He was also the one worst tormented and tortured and terrified and broken. His inner turmoils were worst. Jackson was equally hurt. He wanted Jake but had to suffer silently as Jake sorted out his feels. This was a heartbreaking journey but necessary to justify the actions of the characters. And OMG THE HOTNESS WAS OFF THE CHARTS. SO SO SEXY. I am getting worked up all over again just thinking about the scenes.
As I say repeatedly, Fiona Cole has this rare power to balance steam and emotions so brilliantly. Lovers was no exception.
This is the first MMF/MM novel I’ve read and I loved it. It was so steamy? But also heartbreaking in a beautiful way. I love Fionas characters and the way she writes.. it really enhances the story. Plus they’re set in Cincinnati, OH.
A complicated love story but I still loved it. The temperature gets steamy too! This one is a more emotional one. This series is seriously good.
I love the characters and how real this story could be with Jake struggling with his feelings for Jackson whilst trying to give Carina what she wants and needs. But with friendship’s mistaken for love and vice versa, can everyone in this relationship be happy or will there be heartbreak?
I loved this book! It’s an MMF/MM romance. There’s lots of hot and sexy times but also heartache, guilt, and angst. I highly recommend it to those who don’t have a problem with cheating in fiction.
