Love JR Ward novels!!!
The BDB series is my annual read series. J.R. Ward’s world building skills, character arcs, and witty banter are so tantalizing that this reader just wants to live in this world. If you are looking for a fantastic series to read—the audiobooks are fabulous too—to fall into, I highly recommend the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series! This particular book is book five in the series: Vishous & Jane are the main characters in this tale. I ‘ship’ them so very much!
3.5 stars
Vishous possesses a destructive curse and the ability to see the future. He doesn’t want love or emotions, just the thrill of battle and defeating Lessers. When the Scribe Virgin comes calling for him to fulfill his destiny his world changes. Not only does he have a new destiny but he has found the one woman for him, Jane.
V’s story is filled with violence, sex, emotional heartache and wity banter. I enjoyed this book mostly. V is a character that I find interesting but don’t love. He has had a terrible past and that has affected his outlook on life and sex. I don’t hate him but he is definitely not a favorite. I really liked Jane. She was smart, sassy, and wasn’t afraid to stand up to the brothers. I don’t love how things end with her but I do look forward to seeing her in future books.
My main issue with this book was mostly the ending. To me, this felt like a forced happily ever after. I know there aren’t a lot of options for human mates but the result felt off and not something I could really imagine in this series. I wish it had been different but that is just my opinion.
I’m a sucker for a damaged hero–and boy is Vishious damaged! I loved the relationship between Vishous and Jane. J.R Ward draws you into the world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, and you never want to leave.
JR Ward books are awesome. Love the black dagger brotherhood world. She’s right up there with Laura Adrian and Laurel K Hamilton . She is in my top three favorites of the genre.I highly recommend her books.
My second fave book in the series!!!
Love It!!!
I love this series. I buy all of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books. These characters are awesome!
I love the Black Dagger Brotherhood series! I’ve read all the books and have enjoyed each of them.
Anything BDB I enjoy reading. Ms Ward is a fantastic author. I don’t get bored reading the BDB series. Each character is unique, each story is engrossing.
This book is one of JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood books! Her vampire series. I have read all of her books and recommend every one of her books!
This book is just like Vishous: mysterious and complicated.
**spoilers**
This was the first time I was truly unhappy with something in this series. I didn’t like that Jane died, yeah she came back as a ghost thing, but still. It’s great that she can still touch V but I feel really bad that she can’t touch anybody else. But other than that the story was good.
As the story continues I always think that I can’t like the next member of the Brotherhood more than I did the last. I am wrong every time. V was always my favorite side character in the series, I like the wit he had about him but to get inside of his head and learn his story made me like him even more. And to take a badass character and make him bi was even better, I love it when boundaries are pushed like that.
I am really loooking forward to where Phury’s story is going to take us.
J.R. Ward is one of my top 10 favorite authors, and the BDB is a must read!
Especially if you love vampire stories.
I have read this series more than once, so that should tell you how good it is.
The world that J.R. creates is so enthralling that you feel as if you are actually there, in the pages of her books.
Funny side note…when I’m reading one of the BDB books I am so engrossed in the story that if I am interrupted it actually feels like I’m being sucked out of the book back into reality.
It’s very disorienting for a few minutes.
Anyway, I hope you pick up a copy of the entire series. I recommend starting with book one.
Happy Reading:)
J. R. Ward is an exceptional writer. I love her books and have everyone she has written. Well worth the read.
This book began j.r.ward’s downhill death spiral in quality for me. She destroyed her character vichious fir me. Her next book lover enshrined was the end for me with auto buying her books. I do not recommend reading this book.
I own this book in hardback, I am in lust with ALL of the “Brothers”!
Perfectly plotted. Gripping all the way to the end. Darkly romantic and deeply erotic.
This series is one that I can re-read and never tire of it!
Love the author and her sexy vampires! This series is fantastic, lots of drama and the vampires are the good guys!
