I received a copy of this book from the author, I was no required to give a favorable review. This is the 2nd book in this series and some of the characters from the first book are in this one and a few new one. This one is Shannon story of survival from a abuser & killer in Washington State. When he came out to his parents when he was a teen they were not very approving and he turned to someone who he thought he could trust, but years of physical and mental abuse made him run and he ended up in Texas and friends with Taylor. But now he has graduated college and doing well, and has fallen in love. But his past is going to come back and haunt him with the case his boyfriend is working on. Can he heal and find love with 2 men.
Lover is the second book in the Survivor Trilogy by T.M. Smith. This contemporary mmm romance delivers a fantastic well- written story that is filled with suspense and danger, steamy interactions between three sexy men, sweet love between those same three men, and a touch of humor. Shannon, Rory and Rand are great characters and their story had me glued to the pages and anxious for more from the series.
Audiobook review:
Story – 5 stars
Performance – 5 stars
Nick J. Russo’s narration was great. His voice is soothing to listen to and he gives each character a unique voice.
Lover:
As I’m writing this review, I realize that if I say anything too much about this story it will create spoilers for Survivor. So, fair warning – If you haven’t read Survivor you might want to stop reading here.
We met Shannon, Rory and Rand in Survivor. Shannon is Taylor’s best friend; Rory was an undercover FBI agent and Rand a Cold Case detective. During most of this story Shannon and Rory are in a committed relationship with each other but each of them are also attracted to Rand.
While this story is about how the three of them eventually form a relationship with each other it is also Shannon’s survivor story. He was in an abusive relationship that he eventually escaped from.
For some reason I’m having trouble putting into words what I liked about this story. There is a lot going on: mystery, hot sexy time between the three MCs, and a very satisfying HEA.
After listening to these two audiobooks, I was happy to learn that a third book is expected. I’m really looking forward to that story, which will feature two secondary characters from Lover.
A copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
At fifteen Shannon ran away from home into what seemed to be a loving perfect relationship to turn into a nightmarish hell he barely escapes. He and Taylor become best friends and like a second family.
Rory thought he and Frank would step up their relationship once the Landers case was solved but when it became obvious Frank and Taylor were in love it left him out. But he met Shannon and things began looking up for both of them.
Rand is fortysomething and single when he finds his longtime lover cheating he takes on the Cold case unit and begins working with Rory and his team. But some old cases may come to backfire and bring the devil back to Shannon’s doorstep.
I am loving this series, It is the second book in the survivor line. I really think you do need to read the books in order since we meet all of the characters in the first book plus we get more of Frank and Taylor as well. I am a character driven reader and I love every single character in this book. There are lots of them too! The mystery of Shannon’s past is sad and there are a few twists that are bone chilling. The heat between the three men is amazing.
If you like Menage, May/December, Hot Detectives, mystery/suspense, twists and some ot man-love this is for you!
