#1 New York Times bestselling author J. R. Ward’s “instantly addictive”* novels of the Black Dagger Brotherhood continue as an ally of the Brotherhood must face his own dark desires…. Butch O’Neal is a fighter by nature. A hard-living ex–homicide cop, he’s the only human ever to be allowed in the inner circle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And he wants to go even deeper into the vampire … deeper into the vampire world. He’s got nothing to lose. His heart belongs to a female vampire, an aristocratic beauty who’s way out of his league. If he can’t have Marissa, then at least he can fight side by side with the Brothers.
Fate curses him with the very thing he wants. When Butch sacrifices himself to save a civilian vampire from the slayers, he falls prey to the darkest force in the war. Left for dead, he’s found by a miracle, and the Brotherhood calls on Marissa to bring him back. But even her love may not be enough to save him.

Would like to give all the J.R. Ward books more than 5 .
Excellent read, despite not being fired up to read this one. Marissa and Butch didn’t torque my wrench, but I was still engaged and entertained. Add some series story progression, you definitely don’t want to miss reading it, though.
Best series ever!
I first read Lover Revealed back in 2009 and after reading the book a second time I can still say that Butch and Marissa are one couple I will always adore.
First off, if you haven’t read the first book in the series then you did not get to know Marissa from the beginning. You should just stop reading this review and go back and read the first book, so you can get to know one of my favorite female characters Marissa. You’ll also get the beginning story of Butch too. Believe me, you want to know the beginning of how Butch and Marissa ended up meeting up with each other and also becoming obsessed with one another. I love these two together!!!
Lover Revealed is when J.R. Ward opens up so much more about Butch and Marissa. I really adored Butch from the beginning in Dark Lover, but I really loved him in Lover Revealed. He’s a tortured soul just like some of the other characters are. He may not had it as rough as Zsadist did, but he did have a troubled past and a really troubled family that didn’t want anything to do with him.He deserves every bit of happiness though. J.R. Ward doesn’t make it easy for Butch. She makes him go through some rough times in Lover Revealed. There is so much that happens with Butch in this book, so I don’t want to give anything away. Let’s just say Butch is going to find his happiness.
What can I say about Marissa? I was sad with what she had to deal with in Dark Lover and I was even more pained on what she went through in this book. Half the time I wanted to give her brother Havers a piece of my mind. Marissa though was not a quitter at all. She is a strong-willed determined person and I loved that about her. She also knows how to handle Butch, which is another good quality for her.
Now, let’s not forget that J.R. Ward does have secondary characters that steal the limelight away from the main characters for a bit. Although, it’s kind of hard, when the chemistry between Butch and Marissa definitely was worth while in this book. Vishous plays a big role in this book and I really felt sorry for him at times. He loves Butch like family and would do anything for him. I definitely read it so many times on how Vishous was there for Butch and even Marissa at times. He’s got a soft side to him, it’s just going to take the right person to get it out of him.
One of the reasons why I love this series is due to the fact that J.R. Ward is a master at world building and creating unforgettable characters. This is why I’m reading the books from the beginning, so I can feel connected to the characters again. I’ve missed them. I loved re-reading Butch and Marissa’s beginning together and also finding out other things I definitely didn’t pay attention to the first time I read the book.
This book definitely gets 5 ‘amazing’ stars and I highly recommend this book as well as the first three books to readers out there that enjoy PNR. If you haven’t read J.R. Ward’s books before, you’re definitely missing out.
J.R. Ward did it again. Lover Revealed is another riveting book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series. It has it all, a bumpy but beautiful love story, a damaged hero finding his way, a naive sheltered heroine finding herself, and loyal friends so close they’re family. Butch/Dhestroyer and Marissa’s book had so much going on, so many unexpected twists in it I never got bored. Butch was such a sweetheart. He was so gentle and tender with Marissa. Protective, loyal, brave, charming, and strong Butch was everything a hero should be. I loved his special friendship with V. Loved the fact that he would have died before betraying the brothers and their shellans. Butch had a sad backstory and I was so glad that he found his home with the brothers. Marissa grew a lot in this book. She started out timid, very naive, and insecure. I loved how she found her backbone. She found her true calling helping others and she stood up for herself. What I didn’t like was there was a few times she wasn’t very supportive of Butch’s role in the Brotherhood. I know she was scared of losing him but she could have stood by her man more. Of course she turns it around and redeems herself, but I just wish she would have had his back from the start.
Butch and Marissa were so cute together. Butch was so nurturing with Marissa. Always telling how much he wanted her and how beautiful she was. Which Marissa really needed to hear because everyone treated her so badly. Marissa loved Butch and saw his worth and strength when he felt weak because he was human for half the book. I loved the way Beth befriended Marissa in this book and how her and Wrath were there for Marissa when her worthless brother Havers threw her out 30 mins before dawn. There was a lot of Z in this book and that always makes me happy. There was this part with Z and Bella where Z is chasing Bella through the Mansion playfully, catching her, biting her and dragging her off to make love. It was so cute I totally melted. Qhuinn was in this book, and the Qhuinn, Blay, and John friendship is formed. Xhen, John Matthews’ future shellan is in this book, but she hooked up with Butch which I really didn’t like. There was also some more Rehv in this book and I like me some Rehv. There was too much time spent with the Lessers which is why instead of 5 stars I gave this book 4.5 stars but still a great book. Below my favorite moment in this book and yes it’s from my Z!
This is a great series of books to get hooked on. Such fun and great characters.
I would like to remark more on this as a series. I have read every book in this series and still get excited to see each time a new book comes out. The characters are intriguing, the emotions are real and the way these characters become a part of you, or rather you feel a part of this storyline is amazing. I feel like I know these characters and I feel their happiness and Ther sadness, their successes and failures. That is the mark of a great author to me. When I can escape into the books and become a part of the story….I am happy. Thank you JR Ward for sharing these adventures.
I absolutely loved it, couldn’t put it down
I continue to adore this series. I have to admit to not really liking Butch too much in the first book, but he grew on me and I was glad to have his story. The ups and downs in this book were many. The Suspense as to how it would all work out just kept me reading (way past my bedtime lol) and I love how J.R. Ward just drew us into the whole world of the Brotherhood again. I am so happy how it all worked out for Butch and I was glad to get answers to where he came from even if the answers weren’t given to him. I am concerned about V, and I am anxious for his story! So glad that friends talked me into reading this series!
This is getting 5 stars yet again. This series is still really great and for me it gets better with every book. Now throughout this whole book one character got a lot of screen time as I would say and I’m glad the next book going to be about him. An overall great addition to this series, and I put the 17+ rating on this for all the books in this series.
