A warrior with inner demons falls for a woman who could save his soul in this seductive novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling Black Dagger Brotherhood series.Within the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Rhage is the warrior vampire with the strongest appetites. He’s the deadliest fighter, the most voracious lover, the quickest to act on his impulses. He’s also been cursed with two hundred years of … with two hundred years of hell. Possessed by a beast, he lives in fear of the times when his inner dragon comes out and he’s a danger to everyone around him.
Mary Luce has unwittingly found herself in the vampire world, and under Rhage’s protection. With her own life-threatening curse to bear, she’s not looking for love. Besides, she’s stopped believing in saving grace and miracles long ago. But when Rhage’s intense sexual attraction turns into emotional bonding, he knows he must have her for his mate. As their enemies close in, Mary finds herself praying for something she fears she’ll never have: life eternal with the one she loves.

I like how Ward developes her characters. I also like how they are not forgotten in future books in the series. While focusing on two characters she does not forget past characters or on going story lines.
I have the entire J R Ward collection. All of her books are worthy of a second or third read!
I’m a big BDB fan. Love the characters. Has violence, language, and adult content so keep that in mind. If you like alpha males and the paranormal, this is a great series. Definitely read in order though.
I was blown away by this book – so I have acquired the rest of the series and am thoroughly enjoying the read. Can’t put them down.. I literally go from one to the next!!! Indeed Ms. Ward takes a path from other vampire books I have read. But I love it… and I LOVE the stories behind each of the characters; the what and how of each of the heroes and heroines that made them who they are. Sometimes I find myself arguing with the characters or crying and laughing with them. I am soooo into this series!!! Thank you Ms. Ward for creating this world… you are amazing!!!
the jumping from character to character was confusing. The story didn’t stay with the H/h. It revolved around 5 ppl. I didn’t care for it
The black dagger brotherhood books are wonderful. Love eternal is 1 of my faves. Rhage and mart are a spectacular couple
The Black Dagger Brotherhood series is totally awesome. I have read the entire series 8 times now since I first purchased them. Plenty of excitement and a very great story.
Good series
My 2nd time reading Lover Eternal by J.R. Ward and I’m still in love with Rhage and Mary Luce’s story.
I actually listened to Lover Eternal, while I was at my day job (with ear buds of course). Jim Frangione definitely brings the BDB to life with his narration and his voice definitely keeps me company, when I’m working on projects at my day job.
This time Rhage ‘Hollywood’ is going to get his story in Lover Eternal and he’s going to find his shellan. His shellan though is not one of them though. Mary Luce is a beautiful human woman who is dealing with her own problems. Problems that that she has been dealing with awhile. She is going to get thrown into the BDB world due to another side-character that comes into play in Lover Eternal. She wants to help this side-character, but things about him come to light to another character meeting him. (I don’t want to give away any details)
Mary became a favorite female character in the BDB series, when I first read this book in 2009. She’s a strong character that definitely has gone through a lot and she still continues to live her life and help others, whenever she can assist someone. She’s an amazing human being and that is why she’s perfect for Rhage because they are complete opposite and he needs someone to accept him for all he is in the story. Rhage battles a beast within that was given to him by the Scribe Virgin. He’s afraid the beast is going to hurt Mary though in the story. Even the BDB is scared of Rhage, when the beast comes out and that should tell you something about his full character. I loved him from the beginning because he’s vulnerable, but a deadly character. He’s very gentle, when it comes to Mary though and he’s very caring.
One of my favorite parts in Lover Eternal is when Rhage actually takes Mary on a date. Can you imagine one of the BDB characters being at a normal restaurant? Yup, very intimidating, but also very sexy too. These lethal warriors all have a soft side, especially with the women they end up with.
If you’re thinking about reading the BDB series then read in order, please. Otherwise, you’ll miss out on some side-stories in the books from the other characters and you’ll miss out on some of the other BDB main stories. Believe me J.R. Ward builds up the storyline of certain characters in each book to prepare for the next book in the series. I love the main storylines and the side storylines because J.R. Ward is a master storyteller, which is why she’s a favorite author who I always auto-buy.
J.R. Ward introduces Zsadist more into the story, which happens to be the next BDB book in the series. Zsadist is another BDB character that is scary, but he’s going to open up a bit in Lover Eternal and then prepare for his story. I love this series!!!!
I give Lover Eternal 5 stars and highly recommend this book and the series to PNR readers out there.
Seriously freaking good. Mary and Rhage were just amazing, though there were a few times I wanted to slap Mary. However, I have never been dying so can’t decide if I wouldn’t do the same things. And can I just say, I may have fallen in love with the dragon more than I probably should have? Though, I did love the first book more.
Lover Eternal the 2nd book in the BDB series is Rhage and Mary’s book and a total 5 star hit for me! It was just as awesome as book one maybe a bit more awesome because there was so much Z in it and I am head over heels for Z! I don’t know what it is about this series but each book just grabs me by the feels. Rhage and Mary’s love was an angst filled journey to HEA. But it was so good all I could do was hold on for the roller coaster of love.
Rhage was the playboy of the Brotherhood. He’s called Hollywood because of his good looks and his man hoe ways. Everyone thought he was cool and sexy, but under it all he was numb. He hated the meaningless sex and wanted a female of worth. The problem was he was cursed with a beast inside that if he didn’t have sex of fight to tame it, the beast would come out and kills everything in site. I do believe this was the only book in history where the hero cheats on the heroine and I still loved him and forgave him within minutes. Of course he only did it once, there are no details of it to be read, and he did it because he started to lose control twice of his beast. Not that I didn’t wish he would have found another way, but I still understood. Rhage was so lovable even with his flaws. He was honest to a fault, Sexy, caring, and loyal(yes I know I am saying that about a man that cheated but he really was!). Mary knew she was dying. Her leukemia was back and now there was this amazing, super sexy guy that wanted to be with her. So of course she pushed him away a few times and lashed out. She was scared and hurting and you could feel her fear and pain coming in waves off the pages. I love that Mary was sweet but she could act rude and stupid too. She seemed down to earth and more real because of it. Mary in her own way was a warrior and a fighter. I loved how big her heart was. I also love how accepting she was of Rhage( the fact that he was a vampire and had a beast).
Mary and Rhage were so sweet together. Both loving and supportive. I was really rooting for their love. Rhage was sexy as hell and being the legendary lover of the vampire world, he was rocking it in the bedroom. I loved the parts with Mary and the Beast. It was funny and cute how he was like a loving puppy with her after having just ripped a bunch of bodies apart. These two had to go through so much to get their hea it was really heartbreaking at times. Is it just me or does anyone else not really like the The Scribe Virgin? I mean at times she seems so mean and cold. Then she will do something nice and I will soften to her a little only to have her turn around and be cold again. I loved all the bits of Z and Bella in this book. Z is just so damaged I want to kiss it all and make it better for him. And I love Bella because she sees what a amazing male Z is when most just look at him and see broken. Their book is next and I can’t freakin wait. Z is one of my top 5 book boyfriends of all times
This is a must read. You can’t help but fall in love with an egomaniac in this story.
Lover Eternal is book 2 in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I love these warrior vampire brothers who fight hard and love harder!! Rhage is cursed with a Dragon beast that lives inside him and he can’t control.
Mary is a human who seduces even the beast within the beast!
“I will not fall in love with you,” she said. “I can’t let myself. I won’t.”
“That’s all right. I’ll love you enough for the both of us.”
Lover Eternal is the second book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. This novel is all about Rhage, the beast that lives within him, and the woman who is willing to sacrifice everything for the both of them.
I am loving the BDB series. It isn’t necessary, but vital, to read these novels in order. There is a ton of background happenings going on that you shouldn’t miss out on.
Rhage was exactly how I imagined him being, a man with a short fuse. But I never factored in how he would change when he eventually found his mate. I loved the way this novel played out, Rhage isn’t the only one with a beast living inside. His chosen mate who also happens to be human, Mary, is also living life with her own beast. This was an interesting take on Rhage’s story, I may have even cried a tear or two.
I cannot wait to continue on with this series. So far, I am loving the hell out of this paranormal world!
Sexy alpha males, warriors with a great story line
I have fallen head over heels in love with Rhage.
This one made me CRY! But I loved it. I loved the tragedy of Mary, I loved how accepting she was first of John Matthew and then later of Rhage and his beast. I loved how protective and loyal all the brothers were to Rhage and how even Zsadist was showing his worry and concern. I’m glad I have the next book to read though because I am very worried about Bella.
I would rate this book 5 stars, this an addictive book series, and once you get into it you never want to sop reading it. The characters are all great in their own way, and this series has just gotten me hooked so far from what I have read from it. I state this clearly this book is more for 17 or older their is some explicated content that is no for the young viewers.
