“The hottest collection of studs in romance” (New York Times Bestselling Author Angela Knight) returns as J. R. Ward brings together two of the most beloved people in the Black Dagger Brotherhood world—at last…. Qhuinn, son of no one, is used to being on his own. Disavowed from his bloodline, shunned by the aristocracy, he has found an identity as a brutal fighter in the war against the … the war against the Lessening Society. But his life is not complete. Even as the prospect of having a family of his own seems within reach, he is empty on the inside, his heart given to another….
Blay, after years of unrequited love, has moved on from his feelings for Qhuinn. And it’s about time: it seems Qhuinn has found his perfect match in a Chosen female, and they are going to have a young. It’s hard for Blay to see the new couple together, but building your life around a pipe dream is just a heartbreak waiting to happen. And Qhuinn needs to come to terms with some dark things before he can move forward…
Fate seems to have taken these vampire soldiers in different directions, but as the battle over the race’s throne intensifies, and new players on the scene in Caldwell create mortal danger for the Brotherhood, Qhuinn learns the true meaning of courage, and two hearts meant to be together finally become one.

It’s been a while since I have read a BDB story, and Lover at Last has been taunting me from my shelf for a few years now (darn blogging and not enough hours in the day)
Blay and Qhuinn’s story is the one I have been waiting for since… well since forever. My heart will always belong to John Matthew, however this pair have been bound to give him a run for my affections.
This story was everything. Whilst I wanted it to be alllll about B & Q getting to the good stuff and their HEA, I knew it was not going to be this way.
I loved that it was a slow burn. I loved that they had so many things they needed to overcome to get to a HEA.
I loved seeing the other Brothers and their loves. Sigh, man, it makes me want to move into their mansion and have their vampire babies!
Now I need to not leave it so long before I start the next book.
I’ve been expecting to read this book for a long time, and I must say it definitely didn’t dissapoint. God the romance was so perfectly written…..
In this book Quinn is finally accepting his feelings and doing anything about it, and Blay es trying to move on and forget the male that broke his heart too many times to count…
I only can say that this is a must read if you’re looking for a great romance and some action in a world of vampires.
I have always loved Blay. His quiet strength and fierce way of loving has always set him apart in the best of ways for me. Qhuinn, on the other hand, is the exact opposite, and part of me really wanted Blay to end up with someone better. But in other ways, they are perfect for each other – in the opposites attract fashion.
In true J.R. Ward style, this is more than just another paranormal romance. The story of the Brotherhood and their enemies takes another dangerous turn, and while some of the antics were far beyond belief, the war between the vampires and the lessers is really heating up.
I wish (and I say this often) that Ward would include more of the previous females in each book. We very rarely get to see them as anything more than a background plot device after they have fallen in love and mated their Male. These are strong and fierce women (vampire and otherwise), and I want to see them become a more integral part of the stories.
This series is the BEST!!
I can read each book over, and over, and over and find something incredible in it each time!!!
A must read for the paranormal-romance fans!!
Another excellent addition to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. This was a long-awaited couple that I am happy to report did NOT disappoint. My only gripe was the huge amount of subplots in the book, but that’s kind of a running theme with me. On another note, you know know what couples will be have their books soon.
The Blackdagger Brotherhood was my first paranormal romance, and it sucked me in from the first book. As much as I loved the brothers, though, Quinn and Blay have always been my boys and I’ve always held a soft spot for them. This was their love story and it didn’t disappoint.
It’s just redundant now to say how much I enjoy these books. The dialogue, the drama, the action & suspense-highest levels of entertainment! My first time reading an M/M romance. I was curious and very impressed. I could’ve done without all the side stories involved, but the story was excellent at any rate!
Lover at Last is one of those books I enjoyed but didn’t love. As much as I loved Qhuinn and Blay, I was very frustrated with Qhuinn pushing Blay away in past books and felt this read was going to be a very dramatic one. I just didn’t know most of that drama was going to come from my sweet Blay. I mean wtf? Qhuinn in past book was acting wild, out of control, and reckless. Being a coward and pushing Blay away, hurting him deeply, while sleeping with everyone that crossed his path. In this book Qhuinn really manned up and changed his ways. I found myself hurting for Qhuinn and falling a little in love with him were as before I just liked him. Blay in this book flipped the switch and instead of Qhuinn he was the drama queen. I mean I love Blay and I understand that after years of Qhuinn pushing him away he is scared of getting hurt but man. I thought it was so immature that Blay hid his break up with Sax from Qhuinn for almost the whole book. I mean come on are we high school girls or full grown warrior men?
On top of that Blay was the one pushing Qhuinn away. Every time Qhuinn would try Blay would freak and bolt. I was ready to rip my hair out. Don’t get me wrong, when they were together there was some smokin’ hot heat, but the catty fighting between them drove me crazy. They would have this rip the clothes, raw, powerful sex then Blay would panic and run. Also I felt really bad for Sax. He was totally in love with Blay and to have to watch him move on with Qhuinn. Not to mention that Qhuinn almost killed him thinking he was cheating on Blay because Blay didn’t bother to tell anyone that they were broken up. Sax handled everything with grace and dignity. I hope Sax gets his own HEA. I really liked the way Qhuinn was with Layla. The way he checked on her, supported her, and respected her. The way he roughed Havers up for disrespecting Layla was awesome. I was really proud of Qhuinn’s growth in this book.
I loved that Qhuinn was honored by being made a Brother although I wish John Matthew would have been made a Brother first. I’m going to be honest and say I didn’t care much of the Trez and iAm story line. Now with Assail and Sola I’m mildly intrigued. I will just have to see how their story plays out. I smell drama coming for Beth and Wrath as Beth has got the baby fever and Wrath doesn’t want to have young. Now Layla and Xcor omg I loved them. There was some serious Romeo and Juliet vibes going on with them. My favorite part in the whole book was Xcor and Layla in the car together. I so melted into sappy goo. I mean I straight swooned. I really wished Xcor was the father of Layla’s babies. I can’t wait for their book. Bottom line with Qhuinn and Blay’s book is I love them as a couple but I didn’t like the journey their relationship took to get to their HEA.
I love this author and I buy all her books!!!
Finally…. Wow, I loved loved oh did I say loved this book. Blay & Quinn were actually in love with each other for a while. Glad for the happily ever after ending.
I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book! Definitely in my top three of the whole series. I’ve been pulling for Blay and Quinn since they were introduced and was very impatient to finish the rest to get to this one. I also loved all the side stories! Especially getting more insight into the Shadows! And I’m very curious to see how the storyline with Assail goes. I wish the next book was out NOW but alas, I shall have to wait!
This is my FAVORITE of all of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books. I love Quinn and Blay. The issues that they are working through in this book seem so much more realistic to me than the love at first sight (which I love to read) that happens in the other books. I definitely recommend this one!
