She’s not the woman I thought … but dammit, she’s the woman I want.I never thought of myself as cynical, but getting dumped at the altar changes a man. Now, I’m all about my job. About building my business and getting on with my life. Don’t get me wrong; I still love women. I love the way they look. The way they smell. The way they feel. Especially the way they feel. And I’ve pretty much made it … feel. And I’ve pretty much made it my mission to give each and every woman who shares my bed the ride of her life.
But getting close? Getting serious? Giving a woman my trust again? Yeah, that’s not going to happen.
Or so I thought.
Then I met her. It’s funny how things can change in a heartbeat. How one case of mistaken identity can change everything. But there she was, all business and completely uninterested in me. And damned if I didn’t want her. Crave her.
Most of all, I wanted to help her. To keep her and her sister safe. But the more I get to know her, the more I want her. The whole package. The complete woman.
And the miracle is that she wants me, too.
Trouble is, we’ve both been burned before. Now, I know one thing for certain—the only way that we’ll survive the heat that crackles between us is if we both find the courage to leap into the fire together.
Lovely Little Liar is a novella originally published as Bitch Slap. Minor edits, such as expanded scenes, have been made to this book.

From the beginning, you can feel the sarcasm and power struggle between the main characters. Alpha male, not wanting a relationship meets woman who is a strong woman. She stands up for herself, esp to him!!
There is a security firm involved with that aspect that is forBidden for anything to happen between them. If you know JKenner, that never stops her. There is rocky start, and sexy middle and happy ending. That’s all you need to know to buy this book and demolish it in one single day.
JKenner always includes some part of stark (which is my fave of all time series and Man of the Month!! ) and she never fails to disappoint. It’s one of her faster reads, but you won’t regret reading it. J Kenner is an author that makes you have all the good feelings along with the dirty parts as well.
3.75 stars– LOVELY LITTLE LIAR is the first instalment and novella in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult, Blackwell-Lyon erotic romance series. This is security specialist Pierce Blackwell, and PA Jezebel Stuart’s story line. There is a slight cross-over with the author’s best selling Stark, and Man of the Month series.
NOTE: LOVELY LITLE LIAR was first published as Bitch Slap in June 2017. Lovely Little Liar contains expanded content not found in the original release.
Told from first person point of view (Pierce Blackwell) LOVELY LITTLE LIAR follows the building relationship between security specialist Pierce Blackwell, and Jezebel Stuart. Thinking he was meeting his one-night stand, Pierce Blackwell, comes face to face with a woman who believes he is someone else. Enter Jezebel Stuart, the sister and manager of up and coming young but vilified actress Delilah Stuart, and the woman with whom Pierce will fall in love.
We are introduced to Jezebel’s sister, Delilah Stuart; Pierce’s sister Kerrie Blackwell, as well as Pierce’s business partners Cayden and Connor. There may be something developing between Kerrie and Connor. Cayden and Connor’s stories are next in Pretty Little Player, and Sexy Little Sinner.
BITCH SLAP is a predictable and familiar story line; an erotic, quick building romance between two people who have been hurt by previous relationships. Pierce doesn’t do relationships or love, and the introductory chapters reveal exactly what and who Pierce is looking for. Jezebel Stuart is a woman betrayed by a former lover but a woman who is determined to protect her younger sister from the rabid fans who are currently vilifying the up and coming star. The plotline is a little more fleshed out than the original release. The premise is entertaining; the romance is passionate; the characters are colorful and energetic.
“Don’t Date. Just Fuck.”
Of course I couldn’t resist reading Lovely Little Liar, it’s written by one of my favorite authors. J. Kenner is an auto-click for me, I don’t even need to read a synopsis. She’s proven her word wizardry again and again. She never fails to deliver. And, I love running into some of my favorite characters that I met in other series in her stories.
This little novella is a jewel. Sexy man meets a sexy woman in need of security and their lust gets in the way of their business arrangement. Who doesn’t love a forbidden romance, right? Sex with clients is not how he does business, so she’s off-limits. But tell that to his cock who has other ideas. He doesn’t want her forever, just for a night. Or so he tells himself…
She’s learned her lesson, don’t get involved and keep your personal business to yourself. But when life gets in the way of her best intentions she finds it hard not to give in to her desire. Their chemistry is undeniable and it takes everything she has to fight her attraction, especially when she can see her lust reflected in his eyes. She can’t deny it when he tells her, “Aren’t you a lovely, little liar.”
As you can imagine, I was doing some serious mental matchmaking. The story is told from his POV, so it was his ear I was whispering into as I encouraged him to go for it. I’m thrilled to report that I will be seeing some of the amazing support characters again in future books. The author shamelessly teased me and I’m beside myself with excitement to read them. The line forms here…
This review is for an ARC and is my unbiased, honest opinion.
This was my first book by this author and I’m still not sure whether or not I enjoy her writing. It’s really hard to tell much about an author’s style when you start with a novella. Novellas tend to rush things because there’s such a limited time frame to work with. With lovely little liar, we basically got love at first sight and insta-love. I’m usually not a fan of those two things if I’m being honest. I’m not sure whether or not I believe in love at first sight. It’s usually lust at first sight as opposed to love.
In this story we have Pierce Blackwell, former military man who now runs his own security business with friends. Pierce has major trust issues. His fiance, Margie, left him before their wedding and it really messed with Pierce. He wants nothing to do with love and only hooks up with women for one night only.
Jezebel Stuart is the manager for her younger sister Delilah whose an actress. Due to some drama surrounding her sister, Jez wants to hire Pierce and his team to protect her. Pierce and Jez have instant connections but don’t want that to get in the way of protecting Delilah. They have this banter where you aren’t sure if they hate each other or want to rip each other’s clothes off lol.
Overall, this is a shorter read at around 150 pages give or take. We’re thrown quickly into this duo and everything is at a much faster pace than we would get in a larger book. I felt the story was just okay. I wasn’t really rooting for these two because I didn’t have time to connect to them. I did enjoy the characters but I just wasn’t invested in them if that makes sense. I’m eager to try out a full length book by this author and see how that one goes.
This was a nice, quick read. The writing flowed well, and I liked Pierce and Jez together for the most part. When they first met, it was a case of mistaken identity. While I know that Jez was trying to protect her sister, she was still pretty rude to Pierce. That conversation wasn’t going normally for her not to notice. After they meet up again they go from zero to sixty pretty quickly. The whole restaurant scene was over the top for me. I’m not sure how she felt she had the right to storm into a restaurant yelling at Pierce, from something she THOUGHT she saw on his phone. And after 2-3 days. They make up quickly, and the ending was very sweet.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
Better the second time around
PB & J
Pierce Blackwell doesn’t do relationships. And that’s why he’s at Thyme to meet his hookup for the night he found through a dating app. When he spies a leggy, curvaceous woman, he thinks it’s his date. But after a few rounds of frustrating banter, he’s thinking the evening a total bust. He is stupefied to learn she’s there, instead, for business. He can’t seem to get her out of his mind and pieces the puzzle together that she may be a potential client. A case of mistaken identity leads Pierce Blackwell to find the woman who instantly intrigues him. What a coincidence that he is part owner of Blackwell-Lyon Security.
Jezebel Stuart thinks Pierce is the man appointed by the hollywood studio as part of her sister’s security detail. As an up and coming actress, Delilah is in need of protection because of disgruntled fans harassing her over a scandal involving a beloved rock star. Disappointed how cavalier Pierce is over the situation, Jez abruptly leaves the bar, but the last thing she expected was to be rescued later by him. Pierce pieces the puzzle together and quickly diffuses a potential security mess when he saves Jez and Delilah from paparazzi and enraged fans at their hotel.
In less than a week, Jez and Pierce learn more about each other. Their attraction is undeniable, each knowing their hearts and feelings are vulnerable in this newly found relationship.
The story was previously titled Bitch Slap. I love this version much better as the initial interaction with Jez and Pierce is softer and less antagonistic. It is well expanded, tweaked, and utterly irresistible. This novella-length story includes a slow burn of sexual tension, witty dialogue and likeable characters.
I received and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, that this whole book was written from his point of view and not hers!
I had fun reading Bitch Slap, and while J. Kenner books are almost always amazing, fun isn’t a word I would usually use. Bitch Slap was a breath of fresh air compared to what she usually writes. Pierce and Jaz were entertaining, and well written.
This was my first read from J. Kenner and I really enjoyed it. Pierce is a little alpha and a little broken. Jez is a little stressed and a little betrayed. Their meeting is a little unusual, but I liked that through each other they found a way to heal old wounds, in many ways.
Cayden got a new client. A man thinks that his fiance Gracie is having an affair. But when Cayden meets her he is instantly attracted to her. She is a model and has no problem with flirting. Soon they can’t keep their hands of each other. He knows it is wrong but something isn’t right. Can he trust her or will he end up with a broken heart ? Another fantastic book from a fantastic author. I loved that this book had a catch that I didn’t see coming. I really enjoyed it
I really enjoyed this quick, forbidden love story. Pierce and Jez have a chance meeting thinking each was someone else. Pierce thought it was a blind date from a dating app, and Jez was looking to hire a bodyguard for her sister. You can imagine how their first conversation went with them both on totally different pages. Of course it doesn’t go well, and they part ways, irritated, even though they were both wildly attracted to each other. Pierce is an ex military, security specialist who trusts his instincts that were telling him that Jez and her sister are in danger. He was able to save the day, setting up a working relationship that stopping any chance they could ever act on the fiery chemistry ready to explode. Both Pierce and Jez have their past heartbreaks that helped to build the walls they have to guard their hearts. But as they spend more time together, the more the walls and their reasons to stay apart come crashing down. This was an easy, quick read with fun banter, and steamy passion. This is the first book I’ve read by J. Kenner and I will definitely check out more of her work.
5 Stars
Huge fan of J Kenner – Lovely Little Liar
ARC received from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review- opinions expressed are my own …
Another great read – Pierce & Jezabel are amazing characters !! Quick read – allowing me an awesome escape for a few hours !! Here are some things I liked about this book :
Hook up that leads eventually to a great HEA
Hot chemistry
Snarky & at time laugh out loud dialog
Great storyline
Awesome read – it !!!!
Pierce is a security expert and Jezebel is the manager for her sister, Delilah’s, acting career! Pierce and Jezebel met at a restaurant and mistake each other for someone else. There is an instant attraction there and when they finally meet again, they clear up the mistaken identities. Jez hires Pierce and his security company to watch over her sister. They both act on their attraction to each other thinking it’s just a causal thing since Jez and Delilah will only be in Austin, TX for a few days and will then be heading home to Los Angeles.
Of course, things usually never work out when they are both attract to each other more than sexually. This is such a great and short read with characters that are so perfect for each other. And the other characters in the story makes you wanting more books on them.
Lovely Little Liar by J. Kenner (previously published as Bitch Slap) is a fun story which starts off with a blind date gone terribly wrong.
Pierce Blackwell is a former special forces soldier and current private security expert who has no time or interest in a relationship, particularly after getting burned by his ex-fiancé. Jezebel (Jez) Stuart is her is her actress sister’s (Delilah) manager and she’s had her own issues, with security agencies, men, social media fans, and enemies, of her sister. Their first meeting is full of misunderstandings, incorrect assumptions and a whole lot more attitude than Pierce was looking for in a hookup. But Jez is exactly what he needs, even if she’s not what he had been searching for and she lights off all of his protective instincts, especially when he finds out her sister is in trouble.
I liked how the initial meeting was handled with all the misunderstandings, but how the issue was not drawn out and they were able to move past it. Both Pierce and Jez care about their families and they find that they have more in common than they could initially have imagined. Both feel a professional relationship is best, but they don’t let that get in their way for long. I like how comfortable they are with each other once their initial guard is down and how passionate their relationship is once it ignites.
Overall, Lovely Little Liar by J. Kenner is a quick and fun where Ms. Kenner does a great job of making two characters who are absolutely made for each other and make each other better. I eagerly recommend.
(I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book I received for free in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)
This book is the first in a new series. It is lighter compared to the books in the Stark universe. Julie Kenner’s writing is flawless and I loved the great cast of new and secondary characters. This new series definitely has potential, I can’t wait for more. If you are looking for a fun, sweet and sexy story, then Bitch Slap is a good choice!

Love has a way of making believers out of the most surprising individuals. Jez and Pierce are clueless when it comes to love. Lust is another matter. Lovely Little Liar is battle of hearts that will make sure that frown turns into a smile and even the most jaded of hearts believes in the happily ever after. J. Kenner keep the senses of full alert while putting a move on the heart. Loved it.
After being burned by love Pierce wants nothing more to do with it, that is until he meets Jez. She is a woman used to being in charge and isn’t afraid to let Pierce know it. When Jez hires Pierce and his company to care for her sister the two can’t fight the attraction to each other. Can she learn to let go of control and can he learn to love again? This book was a good quick read. I do wish there was a bit more to the book, there were some parts that were a little choppy and a bit more may have leveled that out a bit.
I read this when it was Bitch Slap and loved it, now new with added story to it it’s even better than it was before if that’s possible!! Grab this and enjoy!
What a great story about a guy Pierce, who was burned by his love and swore he would never love again, he was know a one night only kind of guy.
Enter Jezebel, they meet by accident and she turns his world upside down, makes him want things he never thought he ever would again!
Follow their story in this great book by J.Kenner, another hit for her as far as I’m concerned! 5+++ stars and you must pick this up and enjoy the ride!

J. Kenner delivers all you need in this bite sized read.
Sexy rugged former military man working security…check
A no nonsense woman with a backbone…check

So like I said, everything you could want…oh and with the rest of the Blackwell-Lyons team, a promise of more!
Lovely Little Liar by J. Kenner is the First book in the Blackwell-Lyon Series. This is the story of Pierce and Jez.
Pierce is a one night stand guy after his engagement fell apart and has been happy that way for a long time. Pierce even joked that he could write a book about why one night stands are better than dating and a relationship. Jez is all business and is trying to oversea her sister career and now the fall out of her sister choices in relationships.
Pierce is trying a new hookup App when he enters a restaurant to meet a women who he only knows as ‘J’. Pierce gathers that Jez is the women he is to meet and they go to the bar to talk. Jez thinks she is interviewing Pierce for a possible security job for her sister. When he goes on about this being one night she gets up and walks away since she needs at list three weeks. It doesn’t take Pierce long to find out he had the wrong women. But he is curious about Jez so he goes forward to find out information about her which leads them to meet again.
This book is a redone version of ‘Bitch Slap’ by J. Kenner. Enjoyed this updated version.
