Loved You Once
Blair and Hayes
They met in college, soon falling in love and making plans for the future. Then he was accepted into a secondary college, and left her behind. When they meet again, can she move past the pain and give them another chance?
Received this ARC and am leaving an honest review.
Roll up your sleeves and get ready to dive in to an awesome new series about six billionaire brothers. They share the same father but have different mothers. Yeah, William Aldridge was a dog, as well as a crummy human being. Aside from a few weeks here and there, the brothers didn’t grow up together, so it’s no surprise that William’s death is the thing that reunites them.
This family dynamic is the most messed up I’ve ever seen, and it doesn’t bode well for peace and harmony that these alpha men are forced to live and work together for the next eighteen months in order for any of them to inherit their father’s estate. They’re required to vacate their homes around the country, live in their father’s old house in the small town of Baker’s Creek, and oversee William’s businesses there.
Hayes Aldridge had his chance with Blaire Wilson years ago, but he made an epic mess of things. As the widow of the one brother Hayes grew up with, Blaire is included in the stipulations of William’s will. (And Blaire’s marriage to Carter is a very interesting side story.) Hayes has two goals: make amends with his brothers and win back Blaire.
While this story includes Hayes and Blaire’s romance, it’s about so much more. Foremost, it’s about family. Shared blood does not a family make, but sometimes family is willing to give you a second chance. It’s also about taking responsibility for past actions, becoming a better person, and caring for others.
This first book in the Baker’s Creek Billionaire Brothers series has been just enough to whet my appetite. I loved seeing Hayes and Blaire get their second chance, and I’m already enchanted by each of these brothers, all with their own distinctive personalities and back stories. I can’t wait to read each of their stories and see how this eighteen months plays out.
Come to Baker’s Creek, the charming shall town with gossipy neighbors and an out-of-control social media feed. Meet the charming, somewhat grumpy, Aldridge brothers, but be prepared. They’ll steal your heart before you know it and make you eager for more. This series has “can’t miss” written all over it, so jump in at the beginning with this phenomenal, funny, complex, heartwarming read!
Loved You Once is the first in the brand new(The Baker’s Creek Billionaire Brothers #1) series by Claudia Burgoa. Set in the small town of Baker’s Creek, Oregon, it’s about a family of half-brothers, all fathered by billionaire William Aldridge, an egocentric and arrogant man who abandoned the mothers of his children and was absent for most of their young lives. When he dies, he leaves his estate, including the town of Baker’s Creek to his estranged sons, but with stipulations.
The main one being they have to live and work together to save the town.
Hayes Aldridge has the task as William’s only surviving legitimate heir of making sure his half-brother’s plus his full brother’s widow stay on track.
Blaire Wilson doesn’t need the headache of working with Hayes. These two were once sweethearts until Hayes left her behind and she then married his younger brother. It’s been twelve years but the hurt is still a deep and burning wound.
Hayes never stopped loving Blaire and now all he wants is to make things right between them. Can he win the girl’s heart that he broke and gather his brothers too?? It’s a big job, but Hayes is a man on a mission. He’ll do whatever it takes.
I enjoyed the slightly convoluted story. It’s going to be a long series as there are six brothers and all of them have interesting backgrounds. I hope Henry’s is next, and that Sophia is his leading lady.
Oh Hayes!!! He is such a glutton for punishment. This love story was everything I needed at the moment and so much more. Second Chance love stories are just that. A second chance to redeem the love you once lost for whatever reason you used at the time to throw them away or disregard them. Blaire was his everything. Until she was nothing. And that nothing eats away and claws at you until your so scarred with thousands of holes that makes you determined to find Absolution.
Poor Blaire never stood a chance. Once she had the chance to embrace and explore life, Hayes was in her view. Always there to remind her about her moments and the value of science and what their chemistry represents.
Now 12 years after heartbreak, tears and grieving, Blair, Hayes and the rest of the Aldridge men have to come together for a common cause. Lets just hope this cause is what helps mends more than one relationship.
I absolutely loved this book. The banter between the brothers was out of the box funny. I swear I could relate to everyone when they were giving Henry the glare. And his best words are. “I forget that you’re a F****ing Nerd, Sometimes.”
5 STARS
Claudia Burgoa
Loved You Once was essentially a story with two major plot points.
First, we have this strange family dynamic. It almost feels oddly biblical in a sense – the father begets sons upon many. Hayes (our Hero) is the second oldest of this ragtag of brothers from multiple different mothers, and they all come together after the father’s death for the will reading. Oh and the father was a bazillionaire, so that makes it even more complicated. So the brothers have been mostly estranged from each other for years, so learning to become a family is a HUGE part of Loved You Once.
And then we have Blaire, whose heart was brutally broken by Hayes twelve years ago. Blaire gets invited to this will reading because she also happens to be the widow of Hayes’s brother. I know you just went “noooooo,” but believe me, I was worried about the weird triangle too but all is well. After their long separation, Hayes has his work cut out for him to win her back.
Loved You Once was angsty and emotional, and yet parts of it felt like almost a parody or caricature of romance novels today. Each brother was a different trope: doctor, billionaire boss, hockey player, musician, special ops military. And they are all billionaires. It just took it a little too far in the believability and enjoyment for me.
This book introduces us to the Aldrich brothers; Henry, Hayes, Pierce, Mills, Carter, Vance, and Beacon. They all have William Aldrich as their father, but different mothers, except for Hayes and Carter. The boys grew up seeing each other a few times a year, usually at their father’s house in Bakers Creek. They are all grown men now with distinguished careers, arrogant, and filthy rich
When William dies, all the brothers must come and live at the house in Bakers Creek for 18 months together with some other rigid stipulations. Blaire Wilson is also required to stay at the house. Hayes and Blaire have a lot of history and this book is their story. Theirs is an Enemies to Lovers – Second Chance Romance.
Hayes and Blaire have gone through a lot; terrible tragedy and loss, and have handled things in very different ways. One ran and the other faced them head on. Now, 12 years later, Hayes is a sexy orthopedic surgeon and Blaire is a devoted PA who travels around the world taking care of underprivileged children. But even after all this time, they still have that connection, that spark. As Hayes put it so eloquently, they were made out of the same star. Blair is his Stardust.
This is a fantastic start to The Bakers Creek Billionaire Brothers Series! These diverse brothers are so different and yet so similar it is uncanny. You need to buckle up and get ready for a fun and wild ride! If this book is any indication, there will be 5 more exciting books to come!! Bring them on!!
From the moment I started reading this book I knew it was one I wouldn’t be able to put down. I also knew this was a series that I wouldn’t be able to pass up. Just getting to know these brothers intrigued me and made me want more. They are all beautifully broken and damaged. They need that special someone to help them see their good and I can’t wait to enjoy this ride.
Hayes and Blaire had my heart throughout this whole book. Hayes broke both of their hearts years ago. Then Blaire broke Hayes’ even more. But she had her reasons, reasons that I understood. Their relationship may have been fast the second time around, but when you are meant to be time doesn’t matter. I love how much of a science nerd Hayes is. I love how he said that the two of them are part of the same star. He made science sound so romantic! Blaire is amazing! Her past story is so sad but it made me love her more, especially with how she is helping the world.
This family has me so intrigued and I can’t wait to get more. I want to know if there is more of a reason for William’s will. My only gripe is that it’s not the complete story. Each of these brothers will bring more into this craziness and I’m looking forward to it! *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
This is the first I’ve read from this author, and I have to say, I really enjoyed the story. The characters have a depth to them that makes them real. The familial conflict sheds light on the intricacies of the relationships between the brothers.
Being thrown together by circumstance, Hayes and Blaire have a past that was never really put to rest. There’s a lot of hurt between them, and Hayes knows he screwed up royally. Will Blaire give him a chance to explain, and open up the possibility of a future for them, or is 12 years of hurt too much to overcome?
I’m interested to see which of the brothers we get to read about next!
This book is an amazing start to what I think is going to a fantastic series. So many brothers to get their HEA and I really can’t wait.
Hayes and Blaire’s story is twelve years in the making. It’s so angsty but out of all that angst a family is being built.
I feel like this family is going to take us on a wild ride in the quest for each of them getting their own HEA and I am so looking forward to it.
What a disfunction family. It will take some time to straighten everything.
Six step-brothers . Different mothers and one father. The broken hearts, a lot of blame and unresolved issues.
This is first book in the series and I guess is standalone, for now.
Hayes, the legitimate son and second older. Blaire, love of his life.
When senior Aldridge passed away without family by his side his will shocked everybody . He will pass his billions dollar fortune to his sons if they fulfil his wishes. If they don’t all money will go to charities, factories will be close and people will loose their jobs.
The animosity has to be put aside, resentments resolved and brothers may have each other, as the brothers do.
This book is also relationship between Hayes and Blaire. This is their second chance . Will they forgive each other?
Great storyline, characters with a lot of chemistry. Looks like everyone is hot headed. Will they buried the hatches?
Enjoy reading, I definitely recommended this book.
Loved You Once (The Baker’s Creek Billionaire Brothers #1) was a deliciously swoon worthy, refreshing, sweet and heartwarming second chance romance that I absolutely needed in my life right now. This charming and delightful book will pull you in deep and keep you blissfully entertained until the beautiful end.
Hayes is the first Aldridge brother to start off this series and what a perfect way to do so as Claudia Burgoa made it very easy to fall in love with him and Blaire. I couldn’t get enough of Hayes, the oh so sexy doctor and I envied Blaire with her down to earth persona, selfless, realistic and admirable character. Their story focuses on finding hope and dealing with the past in order to move on. Loved You Once’s plot was meaningful, the storyline flowed smoothly and was filled with a lot depth which was greatly appreciated considering the book also included all of the Aldridge brothers. And all that Aldridge hotness coupled with their alpha personalities was definitely a force to be reckoned with. I’m intrigued by the brothers and highly anticipating reading their books.
I love it when a book makes me smile big and makes me feel good inside and Loved You Once exceeded my expectations. The Baker’s Creek Billionaire Brothers is my new favorite series and I can’t wait to read the next book, A Moment Like You.
I enjoyed this read and thought it was a good start for this series. Hayes and Blair’s story is full of intense emotions, regrets, twists, mistakes, drama, tension, turmoil and lots of baggage that needs to be addressed. Part second chance romance and part family drama, prepare for your own emotions to get quite the workout as the story unfolds. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more books in this series. I am freely posting a frank review.
Wow, what a great start to what is going to be a phenomenal series!
This is the story of Hayes and Blaire, but it also a fantastic introduction to all the brothers.
Hayes’ father was just awful. William Aldridge was a philandering, deceitful man. He was spreading his seed all over North America and then failing his offspring with neglect. The repercussions of Willams’s actions have been felt by the brothers since then.
Blaire and Hayes’ had a real love story back in their younger days. But youthful decisions and fear of the future drove them apart.
When William Aldrige passes away, he leaves a convoluted last will and forces the brothers to come back to Baker’s Creek to save the town.
There is so much to this story, it kept me so engaged to keep up with all the introductions and then the reunion of Blaire and Hayes. Hayes has never forgotten Blaire and he wants her back. He wants a future with her and will stop at nothing to make that happen.
Blaire becomes the glue to hold the brothers together and we see them start to mend relationships that have been wrecked by time, distance and a death of one of the brothers.
I cannot wait to see the next in this series! It’s going to be epic!
Hayes and Blaire hadn’t seen each other in 12 years. It took his dad passing away for them to see each other again only it wasn’t a coincidence. Blaire still held resentment towards Hayes but deep down they still loved each other. Not only did Blaire have to deal with Hayes but also his 5 brothers and they all had animosity towards each other. But 3 of the Aldridge brothers were very fond of Blaire and always liked her. The road to their second chance was slow and it wasn’t rushed. They had other things to worry about too. This story had done emotions, lots of banter and some very funny moments and exchanges amongst all of them. Throw in one of the brothers assistant and you’re in for a good time. It’s a great start to a series and you get a background on each brother and why the animosity. I enjoyed seeing them coming to some understanding but they still have a long road ahead of them. Hayes and Blaire were amazing and I enjoyed their epilogue but I know there’s more to them.
4 Star Review of Loved You Once (The Baker’s Creek Billionaire Brothers #1) by Claudia Y Burgoa
Book one in an exciting new series from Claudia Burgoa and she is off to a solid start. Loved You Once is a second change at love story that was was an emotional roller coaster of a read that held my attention from the first to the last chapter. This is Doctor Hayes Benjamin Aldridge and Blaire Wilson.
Both Hayes and Blaire are haunted by the past, the big question is will they have the courage to take a chance on love and in doing so get the happily ever after they deserve?
We all have regrets, it’s how we learn from them and move forward with life and what it deals you that can change the course of a person’s life. Hayes knows he is going to have to work to prove that he has changed and in doing that change his future.
This is a story of self discovery, of facing ones past and moving forward into the future, if you dare to take a leap of faith. The characters were entertaining and the story was well written. Angsty at times and heart warming it made me laugh and made me cry.
There was romance, some humour and the camaraderie and banter between the Aldridge brothers added to my enjoyment.
The Aldridge brothers are handsome. Alpha. Also passionate and absolutely chaotic together. We are introduced to them in Love You Once an engaging story about larger than life siblings.
Sometimes unforeseen circumstances can change the path of your life. For detached doctor Hayes Aldridge, it brings a chance for redemption, an opportunity to right the wrongs of choices long ago made. Hayes is open about past failures and his hurtful behavior toward his brothers and ex Blaire. He is also very clear with his intentions to atone for it . If he could face his past, could it also be his future? I loved seeing him discover his self worth and his determination to rebuild relationships and also win back Blaire. This book has it all – romance, a little humor, sexy banter and force of nature brothers. Highly recommend.
