Anna has plans for her life. This fall, she will be heading off to medical school, well on her way to becoming a doctor. But first, she and her besties head to Ireland to celebrate. Nowhere did her future plans even include serious dating, let alone becoming mated to a man who can turn into a freaking beast with wings. Nor did she reckon with being sucked through a portal onto another planet … planet while on her way home from a great night out.
Yet from the very first time her new mate touches her, Anna wonders if this could be the real deal – as in: the big L. The only problem is, her mate says his kind do not love; they protect, they pleasure, and they provide.
Can Anna really kiss goodbye to all her plans for the future, and agree to spend the rest of her existence without love?
Publisher’s Note: This steamy paranormal romance, while the third in the Alcyran Chronicles series, can be read and enjoyed as a standalone.

Anna has plans. She’s going to medical school in the fall to be a doctor. In the meantime, she and her two besties are on vacation before settling down to work. After a night of partying, the three girls are headed home when they are chased by a huge beast through a portal and into another world. D’Vorak has chased them back to his world but knows that one will be his mate. When they reach the other side, they don’t land where they are supposed to and D’Vorak can only take one at a time, so of course he takes Anna. He’s a gargoyle shifter and the king of his realm.
Anna feels the connection with him but isn’t sure she can stay and be happy without finding out about her friends. Of course nothing is ever easy….
I started reading this book and thinking, I’ve read this before, I’ve read this before until I realized it is the third book in the series. While this works as a standalone (the reason the beginning felt like I’d read it before) you’ll really enjoy it more if you read them in order. Each story is a different (standalone) about the three girls that end up in a strange new world.
There’s no doubt about the connection Anna feels with D’Vorak and he is certain she is his mate but if it was that easy, there wouldn’t be a book. She’s not sure she should stay and he doesn’t make it easy. While he does want to make it work, he’s totally oblivious to the wants and needs of a human woman. She’ll have to do a lot of training. Fun, fast read with two people that grow together and find their HEA. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
I loved all three books in tis series, but I think this was my favorite. Even if you haven’t read the other 2 books, Anya Summers does a great job of filling you in on the storyline. Anna and D’Vorak are destined mates, whether she likes it or not, she loves what he does to her, button so sure about the whole “mate” thing. The characters are well developed and interesting. The world is really well written, you feel apart of the place. The book is a fast, fast paced read. I hope to see all 3 clans fighting their common foe…please!!
****I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Booksprout and this is my honest review****
Book three in the Alcyran Chronicles series. Anna, Moira, and Gemma three best friends go to Ireland to celebrate and they are sucked through a portal onto another planet and each of them do not know where the other is. The story has suspense, drama, danger, a battle, twists, turns, and romance. This is Anna and D’Vorak is the King of the Gula’s story. Somehow I did not read the first book so I will be reading this series again. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the third book in the “Alcyran Chronicles” and yet reads perfectly as a standalone. If you want the backstory of Anna’s two friends, please by all means, read books one and two for the full effect. This is not your normal paranormal book. Magical beings, vampires, witches, shapeshifting wolves and gargoyles all on a new planet. Anya Summers has given us a magically induced storyline with characters that are so filled with quirks, insecurities and personality it’s hard not to fall in love with them. Anna and D’Vorak are not the fall in love instantly romance couple. There’s a lot of learning and growing to be done between these two; male and female, interspecies, King and peasant. I hope this doesn’t end the series since I’m not quite ready to let go, but we’ll see what Anya has planned.
Three women go out for a drink while on vacation, when suddenly on the way to their hotel they are attacked by a monster. To get away from it they jump into a wormhole/portal. This is the beginning of all three books in the series, only in this third one we see things happening from the view of the monster, who is actually an alien looking for them to bring them to his planet. He is shocked to recognise one as his mate and follows quickly into the wormhole, and takes his mate to his castle and expects her to be happy, as she is his mate.
Learning there is more to a relationship than bedding one’s mate, and fighting off an enemy keeps the reader entertained and mostly happy. Personally I was fairly fed up with the “hero” for his bad attitude and disrespect – even though he learnt his lesson towards the end.

Adventure to another world, attraction to a beast and finding place in a new home where your heart is still planted with family. The characters are amazing, the back and forth banter wonderful and I love that this mystical story takes you on a trip of a lifetime.

D’Vorak, the King of the Gūla (gargoyles), was on a mission to locate three women, kidnap them, and get them to Rhiannon. This was to end the pact his people had foolishly agreed to with the Clovis and their mad Queen Mona, and they needed to end it before their secret was uncovered of the weapons they had forged, powerful enough to bring down an enemy Dráo (dragon). Therefore, this mission needed to be completed as quickly as possible so the spell would be removed. D’Vorak hated being on Earth – the smell alone disgusted him. The polluted atmosphere and crowded conditions made him want to get off this dying planet right now. Rhiannon’s magic would keep the vortex open for a short time for him, but he had to hurry. She told him he would know the women by their scent.
The three friends are on a vacation in Dublin, Ireland. Anna, Gemma, and Moira suddenly find themselves being chased outside a club by some sort of flying monster, actually a gargoyle. As Rhiannon predicted, they were drawn by the magic of the vortex and ran to the alley then fell into the wormhole that suddenly opened and took them to another planet. In Anna’s case, the creature had identified her as his mate. Anna, once she landed on firm ground, got up and ran to lead the beast away from her friends. Her plan worked, but the beast snatched her up and flew her to his castle in the mountains because he would not turn her over to Rhiannon. Anna, now separated from her friends, is equally and stubbornly determined to get back home, ignoring the fact that he mates with her and will not allow her to leave. Somehow Anna may be the key to breaking the curse. Can he convince her to stay? Will she help him free his people from the pact with the Clovis? Or will she somehow escape and find a way back to Earth?
This story was unlike other paranormal stories I have read, so it easily held my interest. It mixes paranormal creatures, witches, humans, and aliens in a way to keep up the suspense and intrigue the reader. The characters are well-described and very interesting as the reader gets to know them. Grab your copy and see if Anna can help her mate and the two of them find a HEA to suit them both.
Anna’s story…
This is the third book in the “Alcyran Chronicles” and is Anna’s story. While they can be read as standalones, each story weaves into the others. I suggest reading them all. Even though this genre is something I’m not used to from Ms. Summers, I think she found her “groove” with this story. I definitely enjoyed this one the most of the three.

Summers returns to the initial mystery of her Alcyran Chronicles in Loved by the Beast: what happened to Gemma and Moira’s friend Anna, taken by a winged monster at the start of their arrival in the world of Destruna? Loved by the Beast is Anna’s story, and it’s one I really enjoyed.
Anna is a great character—she’s feisty and brave, but she also deals with her new and evolving reality when she has to. I had trouble with another book in this series when I felt the heroine was too naively ignoring the reality of her situation. Anna doesn’t do that. While she perhaps has too many hopes of what she can achieve, she adjusts her plans when she must to adapt to facts that differ from those hopes.
Her hero D’Vorak is a wonderful character as well. Because D’Vorak was the reason these women were brought to Destruna, we discover more about why that happened and what changes their arrival has started to bring about. I also loved that D’Vorak takes responsibility for the effects his actions have on Anna, Moira, and Gemma. His realization that he completely ignored the consequences to them in his desperate need to address the problems of his people made him a well-rounded character instead of just an uber-alpha.
I wish we had a bit more detail on D’Vorak’s kingdom: the relations between the humans there as well as Gula, and what made up the land of the Gula other than D’Vorak’s castle. I’ve really enjoyed the worldbuilding to date in the Alcyran Chronicles, so I was hoping for a similar level in Loved by the Beast and didn’t quite get that.
While this book finishes the saga of Anna, Gemma, and Moira’s arrival in Destruna, there’s still so much more to find out about Destruna and the changes that are possible there now. I hope Summers will continue to tell us more of the witches Rhiannon and Vera, the dragon-shifting Dráo, and the malevolent mad queen Mona in future Alcyran Chronicles.
This is such a immersive read, the world building makes the story come alive. The sexy scenes were just that, they have great description. Anna and D’Vorak have sizzling chemistry and great interactions. This is a great addition to the series that can be read as standalone or subsequently.

Moira, Gemma and Anna never could of expected their trip would lead to them falling through a vortex into a world none of them understand. Anna is captured by a beast that she’s terrified and curious about. So exciting you don’t want to miss as Anna and D’Vorak learn what’s in store for his world. Can they figure out what’s happening between and around them?

This was my first book by Anya Summers and she did not disappoint, it’s an amazing book. Her story building and word usage made me feel like I could be a part of her story. It’s a story with drama, suspense, mystery, and hot and steamy of the charts romance. D’Vorak and Anna are so hot and steamy together they catch the pages of fire. D’Vorak’s the dominant alpha male wanting to claim Anna, and Anna’s the strong forgiving female. Together they are the other’s half of their soul. He has waited for her for 300 years and when he finds her he quickly bonds with her taking away all oh family and choices. She’s very angry with him but he apologizes for being self-centered and ignorant. They both made concessions, willing to bend and meet the other half way so there is hope for them. Will they get their HEA I won’t give away the ending you’ll have to grab a book yourself to find out! I hope to see more from this author and this series, I will definitely be going back to read the other books from this series!
D’Vorak comes to Earth, thru a portal, to locate three women who are to be returned to his planet and turned over to the Queen of the Clovis in exchange for the breaking of a pact that they had foolishly agreed to. One of the women, Anna is his mate and he has no intention of turning her over to the Queen. I enjoyed the story, the sexual interactions between D’Voark and Anna are very erotic in description and detail. The book can be read as a standalone but it is also part of a series that is continuing. I greatly enjoyed the story and would highly recommend the book.
It was entertaining and sweet. The culture difference between the characters gave the story an edge. I couldn’t put the book down until the very end. It was an excellent read you won’t be disappointed.

Loved this story it was the 3rd in a series. I have not read the 1st 2 but it did not stop this from being a complete story.
Anna is taken along with her 2 friends from Earth to another world by a Gargoyle. He claims her as his mate. This is their story.
The characters are great, lots of action, hot hot love. I could not stop once I started. I have read other books by Ana Summers and b enjoyed them, that is what lead me to read this and I am so glad I did.

D’Vorak hated earth but he was told to kidnap 3 women from earth to take them to Rihannon. D’Vorak felt the pull of his mate and Annahad no idea but the Beast that took her was her mate. She had only seen his warrior appearance. He couldn’t go back for her two friends he didn’t want to fail his mate. Anna was taken to his room he knew he had to have her. Anna thought she had been having a very erotic dream about her beast. It had been the best sex she ever had so she knew it must have been a dream. In the morning she realizes she was not dreaming especially when he tells her she is his mate and they mated last night.
Anna tried to run away but as she ran even though she was naked she saw that they were in a castle very high up. Finally told D she wanted to try to find her friends and he told her he would help her. He finally told her things she wanted to know especially when the seamstress he took her to looked longing at her mate. Anna asked him if he slept with her and he had to tell her the truth and then he tells her about his harem. She completely lost it and in no uncertain terms she told if he wants to still wanted to sleep with them she would not sleep with him and would want her own room. The men on his planet never fell in love strange concept. But, D was starting having feelings that maybe was love. Anna still wanted to find her friends and see her family they would be worried about her. Anna was wondering if she would ever see her friends again.
Loved by the Beast is the third book in the Alcyran Chronicles, but reads well as a stand alone. Anna is on a vacation with her two best friends when they’re suddenly chased by a demon into a portal to the unknown. Too soon, she finds herself separated from her besties and mated to D’Vorak, thrust into a new world with passion, danger, and heartache. Will Anna find her friends and comfort in her new life, or will she always try to find a way back home?
Make sure you bring a tall glass of water because whew, this book is hot and intense! Anna and D’Vorak are not a love at first sight couple, and while things work perfectly with their passion and physical needs, they both have a lot of learning and growing to do. Anna was kind of amazing to me because she was so full of forgiveness, understanding, and the ability to roll with the punches that life throws at her. There were several times reading this book that I thought “that’s it, relationship over,” but Anna refused to settle, but also knew when to compromise. D’Vorak was a king of his people, full of duty and trying to better his people, definitely did not understand the complexities of a human woman, haha, but was honest, willing to try, and willing to apologize. It was an intriguing dichotomy between being pure dominant alpha to trying anything to please his mate. There is a lot of passionate scenes in this book, a surprising amount of drama, and I liked reading how they both reluctantly fell in love with the other. I do think there were a few things that weren’t fully answered in this book, so I’m curious if there will be more in this series, which would be awesome! Being the third book in the series, it does read well as a stand alone, and I love that each book has a different couple, a different mythological/alien creature (what a fascinating world!), and each book takes you on an emotional and passionate rollercoaster!
Wow this book was amazing from beginning to end. Plenty of hot male dominance with strong female roles. The world building and character background was well written and made you feel with the characters.
