From USA Today bestselling Texas romance author, Ann Major, comes Nell’s story, Book 2 in her exciting Lone Star Dynasty Series.Praise for Ann Major:“Want it all? Rule number one for an ugly duckling with a perfect twin sister: don’t fall in love with her man.
Don’t.
I messed that up bad the first day Hannah brought Colt home to introduce him to our family—and I looked into his eyes.
Don’t seek his comfort on the day he marries her just because you learn the shattering secret behind your birth.
Don’t kiss him. Don’t. But, if you do, don’t let your sister catch you.
Now Hannah’s run away, my parents are devastated, and Colt’s lost his job at the family firm. Did I mention, I hate me, he hates me, and he’s vowing revenge?
What can I do to make this right? I love him and want him to forgive me. I love my sister…and my parents… I really do.

Love with an Imperfect Maid was the first book I’ve read from this author. I like that rather than stay away from tough topics, she dives right into it. In this story, the engaged couple has issues in their relationship but neither want to admit it or dig into the reasons for them. Instead, Colt and Nell are caught in a compromising situation & Hannah, the fiancée runs away. She spends the time away thinking about their relationship & finding a new man while Colt tries to punish Nell for her part in the breakup. He doesn’t want to admit his own guilt.
This story was a study in family dynamics & how they affect all interactions. Nell & Hannah’s mother is a cold, rich witch that believes Hannah can do no wrong & Nell can’t do anything right. Her husband, their dad, doesn’t speak up or protect them from her. When a bomb is dropped on Nell explaining the reason behind this, Colt has to realize that all families have hidden depths & money just hides them better. This is a interesting story & I’d recommend it for everyone.
A truly emotional romance.
I can’t believe how quickly this story reached out and grabbed me by the heartstrings and wouldn’t let go. You will need tissues for this one.
Nell tried her darnedest to stay away from Colt, her twin sisters, Hannah, fiancé… and she couldn’t help it when she fell in love with him. He just thought of her as a sister until the night of his bachelor party. When Nell tries to do the right thing and avoid the wedding her whole world falls apart.
This book just about broke my heart but it does have a happily ever after by the time it’s over. But it will take you on an emotional ride.

Love with an Imperfect Maid is the first Ann Major story I’ve read that perplexed me. Going in I didn’t like either Nell or Colt very much. They were the poster children for bad choices, yet I found it hard to write them off. Both were shaped by the disappointments in their pasts and my heart refused to let go. Their journey haunted me, their heartache gutted me and their story has stuck with me. An uphill battle as unpredictable as it is unforgettable.
A dysfunctional family…That is putting it mildly! Caught in a compromising situation with her twin sister’s husband…at the wedding reception! Things are not as they appear to be, but Nell’s sister (the bride), Hannah, doesn’t wait for an explanation. She rushes out of the reception and wrecks her new husband’s expensive sports car on the way to the airport. This is just the beginning of a wild and strange story.
If you like unpredictable romances (and I use the term “romance” loosely) you will enjoy this book. Be prepared for some strange twists and turns.
As I was reading this book, I thought about how I would rate it. My feelings changed a couple of times. The plot of this book was intense. I’m not sure how the author came up with the title, but based solely on that, I thought it would be more lighthearted.
Colt and Nell were damaged individuals. I really disliked Colt at the beginning of the book. I wasn’t overly find of Nell because she was such a doormat. I can’t say I ever grew to like either character. I felt sorry for Nell and tolerated Colt.
I thought I was going to dislike Nell’s sister, Hannah, but she came closest to normal out of anyone in the book. Their mother was hateful and their father was a wuss.
Nell was just a sad character. Sad, fragile, apologetic, and pitiful. at least Colt finally came to terms with who he was and who he wanted to be in life. There were so many secrets, lies, and miscommunications, or no communication in this book it was crazy.
Then I feel like the book went off on a completely different tangent when it took us from Manhattan to Texas. It references things that occurred in book 1, “Love With An Imperfect Cowboy”. That was Hannah and Liam’s story. Maybe that subplot will be the basis for an additional book about Liam’s cousin Gabe.
The one thing I can say about this book is that it was intriguing enough to keep me engaged. I still am not sure that I would say I enjoyed it. A little too much angst for me, among other things.
I have a pretty good idea who is the other person in East’s secret. I will have to check out book 3 to see if I’m right. Nell and Colt did get what I will call their HFN.
I would recommend you read this book and judge for yourself. I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy received from the author.
There’s so much going on in this story right from the start. The author brings a cast of characters and weaves an interesting love story with tons of emotions and turmoil within the family dynamics. She does a great job developing the story and pulls you in with all the drama and her detailed scenes. She pulls at your heartstrings with all Nell and Colt deal with along the way. Some questions were answered while others still linger. I enjoyed reading their story and would recommend this book.

Nell is not having a great weekend. Her sister, Hannah, is marrying the man that Nell has loved forever. She falls out of the cake onto Colt’s lap during the bachelor’s party. She flubs the toast, and now her mother tells her she is not her daughter. Wow! Talk about emotional overload!
Finding a room where she can be alone in her misery, Colt, nevertheless, finds her. One thing leads to another, they kiss, and Hannah walks in to see them. Adios marriage … goodbye Colt’s job in the prestigious law firm with his father-in-law. And Colt is mad!
But he will have his vengeance ……
This is contemporary romance at its best. Full of sizzle and characters that are memorable. Nell’s guilt balances out against the sparks of humor.
Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this sexy romp. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Love with an Imperfect Maid, is Ann Major’s second book in the “Lone Star Dynasty” series. Nell is a woman with what she thought was the perfect family. Colt, a man about to have the perfect life. Then it all falls apart, for different reasons, and they both have to figure out what they really want. What “perfect” is. Many twists and turns, secrets revealed, and you are left on the edge of your seat, wanting to know how it all ends. Does Hannah find love? Does Nell get her HEA? Will Colt see the truth? And what happens to Audrey and Dr East? This book keeps you guessing, and there is an HEA or two with some hot, sexy times but not all is resolved. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Nell is in big trouble. She’s been caught in a compromising situation with her sister’s new bridegroom. What a disaster! Nell has always been considered difficult. She never felt that her mother loved her. However her sister was always perfect. I struggled to understand her mother’s coldness. Until the secret was revealed. Colt is furious. His bride is gone. He blames Nell. I didn’t like how he treated her. Considering that he’s also to blame. Nell loves him and I could see that he cares. What a rough start to a romance! Can they pick up the pieces and start over? This story was an emotional journey. It was difficult seeing them struggled to make amends and start over. Ann Major shook me up with Love With An Imperfect Maid. The characters are intense and the situation is heartbreaking. I kept thinking the course of true love doesn’t run smooth. Here’s proof. I’m looking forward to learning how it all began.

This was a nice read. I have to go and read the first story of this series as I became intrigued to follow through with Hannah’s story after reading this one. I really fell in love with Nell. She was looking for love from her mother for all of her life and never really feeling like she belonged. Colt took some time for me to warm up to him. I really didn’t like him at first. After getting to know the character, him did redeem himself in my eyes.
Nell grew up on the Upper East Side of NYC. She was given everything except for her mother’s love. Her mother, Audrey, only seemed to love her twin Hannah. Hannah was the perfect one, polished, sophisticated and she became a doctor. Nell trying to get some attention had always acted out. She didn’t do well in school, was considered the “wild child”, learned how to fix cars and now runs her own garage. When Hannah brought Colt home, Nell took one look at him and fell in love. Colt on the other hand grew up with in a blue collar type of family. He longed for the finer things. He wants the perfect wife to go with the perfect life that he envisions. He becomes a lawyer and works hard to achieve his success. The road to Colt and Nell’s HEA is filled with strife, heart-ache and lost dreams. Especially when Colt and Hannah marry. Is Nell’s dream of marrying Colt herself over? Well you will have to read the story for yourself.
I adorned having the dual POV here. Getting into both of the characters’ mindset really helped me to fully identify with them. Especially Colt, without seeing things from his perspective, I don’t think I could have come to like him at all.
There are some scenes that may offend some but the sexual scenes were really light on details. I know some readers only prefer sweet, clean and this comes really close but not quite completely.
