This book couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. While the world is facing so much uncertainty at the moment it was nice to be able to escape into this romance and watch Evan and Sadie fall in love, while six feet apart. I loved how relatable both characters were, a lot of their emotions that they are feeling due to the quarantine, I was really able to resonate with. This quarantine and virus has changed the world and it is a really scary thing. I loved how Sadie and Evan found each other and became a solace for one another. They obviously had instant chemistry and attraction for one another but were unable to act upon it because of restrictions put in place but I loved how they worked around those restrictions. They went to get groceries while maintaining a safe distance from one another, had cute and romantic balcony dates and had hot and steamy video and phone chats. They got to know each other without the physical intimacy aspect and I really believe that this brought them both closer together and allowed them to focus on getting to know one another and growing their relationship at a faster pace. I really enjoyed this book and hope that the authors decide to co-write again together.
I would read Eamon and Katie’s story too!
Am I the only person who finished this and was itchy to get Eamon and Katie’s story too? Call me greedy but the romance lover in me was crying out for it. Oh well!
Sadie and Evan are more than a matter of circumstances. They are the fairytale we all love to read.
Kylie Scott and Audrey Carlan clearly had fun writing Love Under Quarantine. The fun looks into their world as authors was fun for a fan like me but I definitely had a good giggle over Sadie’s candy consumption. Guess the rumors about authors and junk food are true! Or is it just fiction?!?!
Regardless, Love Under Quarantine is cute and feel good fun in a time where everyone is on edge. Enjoy it. Also, any feedback on everything bought at the pharmacy is welcome. I’m totally curious. Lol.
Love Under Quarantine was a sweet, sexy fun and relatable romance. It showcases how even in the most trying times you can find something amazing waiting for you.
It follows along with what our world is going thru today with the pandemic. It was good story
So I know some people are against the idea of a book coming out about everything that’s been happening across the world but I will say this was really well done. There were many realistic events and feelings. I think the authors did a wonderful job with trying to lift people’s mood with a romantic storyline among this crazy backdrop that’s has become reality. I enjoyed it.
Let’s put any controversy aside at the beginning of my review and concentrate on the story. I’ll get to the controversy later. I’m not going to sugarcoat the fact that I was dead set against reading any type of pandemic book for anywhere in the near future. Then a favorite author of mine (Kylie Scott) introduced this story and I actually wanted to read the book after reading the blurb.
There is a brief moment, when this story first starts, that I’m not so sure about Evan. Thankfully, he quickly won me over and I was rooting for him and Sadie to make a connection. Which, of course, they did. And it was very sweet and even got to be sexy, the whole time them never getting within 6 feet of each other. Their dialogue, their emotions, their little acts of kindness for one another, that’s what drove this story. Yet I still could feel their heat and their yearning. At the same time, I wasn’t focused on my own quarantine situation, which had been one of my main fears in reading a quarantine story.
Now, I can see how there are many people who would possibly need a trigger warning with this story. I’ve been lucky and nobody very close to me has gotten sick. While the authors don’t gloss over the seriousness of these trying times, they also don’t delve deep into the illness because neither of the main characters get sick. But they do talk on the phone to loved ones who are sick…and worse. So, although the title is almost a trigger warning in itself, it’s best to know these things going in.
As for Sadie and Evan, they are responsible and really follow the rules. Yet they are still able to find passion and friendship. They help one another to find an escape from the terror outside by creating their own little bubble of fun and love.
All of my doubts as to whether a pandemic love story could be something I would want to read while in middle of pandemic went out the window. I wrapped myself in the Sadie/Evan bubble and was able to let the stress of the times melt away while I was reading.
Now, I need to address the controversy. Oh, the controversy. A few weeks before it was released, I saw a post on Kylie Scott’s Instagram about this story. I don’t usually comment, but I commented on her IG to say I was leery of pandemic stories but hers sounded like an escape, which we all need right now. There was a bit of hullabaloo after this book was released so I tried to avoid that until I could read the book for myself. I will stay firmly on the side of the reviewers since a review is for the readers, not for the authors. I’m just letting you know that I am aware, to a certain extent, of what went down. I’m happy to find that Kylie Scott isn’t the one that caused the issue and has been very tactful and gracious (from what I can tell) during the uproar. I’ve never read an Audrey Carlan book before and probably never will again unless it’s another joint venture with another author I love. When this book came out and these authors, whether justly or not, felt attacked, one responded with grace and maturity and one did not. There is even a part in this story, her very own written work, about reviews and how they are for the reader and authors should stay away from them. Yes, I was a bit reticent to read a quarantine book right now. But I can make an informed decision and not read said book if I don’t like the subject matter. I’m not going to tell anyone they have no right to write such a story. I’m sure it was a very personal decision to do so. That’s my little rant and it’s now over.

Love Under Quarantine is, as the authors say, an escape. I thoroughly enjoyed Evan and Sadie’s story about falling in love in trying times. Kylie Scott and Audrey Carlan did a good job of putting an uplifting spin on the current situation.
The book was well written and I enjoyed the characters, but I think I didn’t like it, therefore not even finishing it, because I’m sick of hearing about the coronavirus and the quarantine. Those that have no issues with that would probably love the book.
2.5
This book… I’m just not sure if it’s my mood, the times we are in, or just the book in general. I’m not sold on it. I just could not connect with the characters. I felt they were shallow and lacked any real growth throughout the story.
Evan especially seemed at first like he was this tough pro baller and he suddenly goes from player to white picket fence love. Instantly. He used pet names over the top. While I think they’re amazingly cute when some guys use them in books, there is a line of how often to use them. Sadie didn’t seem to swoon at the words he gave to her either for being a romance author. Although, Her humor was fun and witty.
While there was a bit of a mystery, I felt that there could’ve been more depth and growth of the entire book. It felt totally rushed with the content with words just being put to paper, not substance.
With comparing this book to the world right now, I felt it was so closely related that I couldn’t escape the reality that I seek out in books. It was more nonfiction to me than fiction. I felt the authors views were also heavily displayed throughout the book, which made it hard to keep that unbiased opinion out of the entire storyline.
For me, it wasn’t a hard win. But to others it may be.
The pandemic could not have come at a worse time for footballer Evan Sparks. In the middle of a drug investigation his playing status is on the line, but with the stay at home measures being taken he needs to find the inner strength to get through the scandal. Sadie is an author who is in the middle of the worst case of writers block she has ever had. Will the sexy neighbor who spends a lot of time on his balcony be the spark that she needs? One conversation leads to more and the two become closer and closer every day. They rely on each other to get through the 14 day quarantine until they can be together. Can you fall for someone you never kissed? Or will the reality of who they both are come crashing down around them? This book was just what every reader who has found solace in books needed during this troubling time. Some of the worlds fears and apprehensions are put out there in black and white. Putting a heart warming story that was filled with laughter is just what we needed.
Wow! Holy hell! Kylie Scott and Audrey Carlan can certainly paint a picture! Love Under Quarantine is just what the world needs right now! Sure, it’s about our current Pandemic – BUT it’s a different take, it’s a romance, it’s an insta-love story that’s instantly loveable and takes you away!
//
I’m determined to get one of my favorite lines from this story somehow on a plaque or sticker, something to that effect – “If I’m awake, then the coffee should be flowing. It’s the law.”
//
This is my first read by Kylie Scott, and I can already tell that it won’t be my last! Kylie and Audrey’s writing flow together flawlessly! I love that each time I read one of Audrey’s books, there is an actual story; it’s not all sex even though, let’s face it, that would make the read worth it alone the way she writes it! Audrey Carlan has always managed to pull me in with her characters, connecting me emotionally and humorously; the hot steam is ever the added bonus, well that and the cover! In all seriousness, though, I laughed, and I cried right along with the oooooh’s and ahhhhh’s! I was sucked into this storyline; I raced through it as I rooted for their love, their careers, their families, and their loved ones! It would be fun to read more about Sadie and Evan in the future, perhaps post-quarantine?!
//
Aside from loving every moment of Sadie and Evan’s love story – let’s not forget the SISTERHOOD! The relationship between Sadie and Zahra was priceless and goes to show just a bit of how deep the bond of sisterhood extends. Every time a text conversation came up, I felt a strong sense of pride for just how much these two supported each other! Pride in ‘witnessing’ women supporting one another, even if it was through a work of literature. Similarily were mentions of the brotherhood amongst the football team. Support not just during the COVID-19 Pandemic but in everyday life! That’s what it’s all about.
//
Finally – there needs to be a ginormous shoutout to that last page (no spoilers!) – I was laughing for quite some time! What a way to end a story brought to life in the face of an outbreak.
Sadie has had the worse case of writers block until Evan appears next door. His hot body wakes up her muse and she is writing up a storm. Evan finds a friend in Sadie as they hang out on their balconies and watch movies together. I adored how he want to feed her healthy food and she wanted her M&Ms. I liked that they really spent time together really getting to know each before touching.
The characters had emotional depth and a good way to make our social distancing seem not as bad. I hope that Scott and Carlan write a book together again.
~Alex
This is a story that tells us that no matter what the circumstances, we can find love.
This is the story of Evan & Sadie. Evan is a running back on a football team. Sadie writes romance novels. Evan is stuck at his best friend’s house watching his cat while he is away because of a corona virus that’s very contagious. The State is on lock down. He is also laying low because something that has happened to him. He is a football player, and the tabloids are having a field day with him. He sees his friend’s neighbor on the her balcony and is immediately intrigued. They keep their distance of six feet as suggested. Through the fourteen days they are quarantined, they get to know each other and fall in love. There is a mystery around him that has to be solved. His reputation and his career is on the line. They end up working together, and with the help of a friend, they solve it. This is story is very true to life about the virus and what it entails to live under quarantine, and the way other things were intertwined into the story was great.
Finding a way to fall in love without physical proximity. Oh yeah, Sadie and Evan! Sexy hot and getting creative during the quarantine. Evan as the pro athlete under scrutiny for a crime he didn’t commit is a panty melting hunk. He’s enthralled by his temporary next door neighbor and beautiful blonde bombshell, Sadie. She’s the romance author that takes inspiration from the hot hunk that shows up at her neighbor’s. Her muse goes into overtime as Evan bears his beautiful bod while working out. These two take slow build to a new level as they find ways to get sexy while waiting fourteen days to be in the same room. I love their sweetness as they find ways to get sexy and help each other. His scandal is wearing as he waits to be cleared of any wrongdoing. Sadie takes inspiration from his life as she pounds out a new book. The virus rages as they hunker down, wait out the time period to be together and worry about loved ones. The beginning was fabulous, the middle brings home the real tragedy of what we’re all going through but it was a little depressing for me, and the ending cleared a path for these two lovers to be together. I didn’t like the resolution to Evan’s problems and the culprit didn’t ring true for me. There was some drama between Evan and Sadie at the end but it was cleared up thanks to Sadie’s ethics and growing love for Evan. I really loved these characters and the way they found their way to love while being apart at the beginning of their relationship. Terrific writing, a sexy romance, some sadness and lots to think about during these trying times. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
OMG! This book was exactly what I need to be reading right now! It’s so sweet and funny, with lots of juicy stuff thrown in – I had so much fun with it!
Love Under Quarantine is the first book I’ve read that takes place in our weird current reality where the world is under quarantine. I really liked reading about stuff that has happened so recently. Just an aside – I marvel at this world of technology we live in – a book can go from an idea in the author’s head to my kindle and I can devour it within a matter of just a couple of months!! Technology really is so cool.
It’s the story of Evan and Sadie, a pro football player and a romance writer who end up quarantined as neighbors in a San Francisco highrise apartment where they have adjoining balconies.
Sadie is a hilarious, incredibly likeable character. She’s funny and down to earth, but not overly insecure. While she’s a bit surprised that Evan, this gorgeous, rich, pro football player is interested in her, and she wrestles a bit with jealousy when hearing about his past exploits, she’s also a grown-up and she is able to work past it. Sadie is a character I’d LOVE to be friends with. I could totally see myself chilling with her over a couple of bottles of wine!
Evan is a total sweetheart. He’s going through a scandal that’s threatening his career, so he’s incredibly stressed out, but he’s also level-headed enough to understand that even though he has problems – they pale in comparison to what’s going on with the world. His best friend is a doctor, heading to Europe to treat Coronavirus victims, his dad is older and not in great health, and he is constantly worried about them. His head seems to be screwed on straight. As his relationship with Sadie grows, he realizes she is more important to him than just about anything else – including his football career. As long as he has her by his side, that’s really all that matters in the end.
I think both characters are surprised, delighted that their relationship blossoms and grows even though they have never been able to even touch each other.
It’s a lovely light story in a very dark time.
I enjoyed it so much I might read it again!!
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
What a fun story about two strangers that meet during the Quarantine. Evan Sparks is a pro football player that is hiding out from media after being accused of doing drugs and steroids. Sadie Walsh is used to being cooped up while writing romance novels. Evan is not taking things well nor being locked down in an apartment by himself but when he sees his neighbor on the balcony and things start to look up.
I enjoyed the banter between Evan and Sadie. Talk about two total opposites. Evan is in the public eye and watches what he eats. Sadie is used to being locked up in her apartment trying to get every word down on the pages while eating snacks all day. I loved getting to know each one of them. The chemistry between these two was great to see how they navigate this quarantine and get to know one another better.
This is a cute little insta-love book. Even though they are quarantined in separate apartments only seeing each other on the balcony they have some hot and steamy scenes and there are some sweet scenes too. I have to say I also liked the interactions with some of the side characters too. Kylie and Audrey did a good job of making feel what Evan and Sadie were feeling. I found myself falling for these two, even getting mad, sad and happy at the same time they were going through those emotions.

Love Under Quarantine by Kylie Scott
I received this book for free from the author for an honest review.
I loved this funny insta-love between Sadie, the romance writer and Evan, the football player hiding out from the press.
The story begins and we totally get how both characters feel…cool we get to stay home for a few days and then WHAT We can’t go anywhere?? I mean I think we all felt both when the shelter in places happened in the USA. I know I was down for it until I realized I as stuck at home…LOL Evan and Sadie begin a sweet balcony banter then grows to a bit more because when you are alone in a house you will talk to anyone after a few days!! Evan giving Sadie some beer and chips in the beginning to try and sweet talk his neighbor into chatting to help his long days not be so long made me smile.
I loved the banter and the chemistry between the two characters. I loved seeing them start with just chats on the balcony to texting to MORE *Wiggles eye brows* But what I liked was the secondary story of COVID-19 running through the town. It was real. It was what we have been dealing with daily and so I liked that Kylie and Audrey brought the realize of the virus to the story.
There was some drama besides the virus like who set up Evan and the book Drama of Sadie but I liked how it is all touched on in the story and we can see that you can fall in love with someone in the worst circumstances.
The title alone drew me in. Not to mention the realization this synopsis could be a real-life situation, made me intrigued. Firstly, Kylie Scott and Audrey Carlan’s writing are so in sync , you forget two author’s wrote it. The flow is dang near impeccable—thrilling and heart-warming, at best. LUQ starts with Evan Sparks, hotshot NFL running back caught in a vicious scandal he can do nothing about, due to the pandemic. Evan hides himself away in his best friends San-Fran apartment, that is completely empty.
That is until he stumbles upon Sadie Walsh, a writer who’s struggling to finish her novel. The pair are complete opposites, that soon find a general liking to one another. This quarantined ‘meet-cute’ gets intense as sparks fly and they try to be flirtatious without touching. This book is a laugh out loud, flirty, sexy, entertaining read I couldn’t get enough of.
These two, must write again. Great chemistry with the characters and the author’s writing.
*Thank you Kylie and Audrey for providing this fantastic book in exchange for an honest review*
I really liked the idea and start of Love Under Quarantine, but it didn’t quite end up being what I expected. I’m a big fan of Miss Scott, but had never read Miss Carlan’s work, so I didn’t know what tone or voice to expect from this book. There were definitely moments which clearly felt like Scott’s voice coming through, but overall I think their styles meshed and the book flowed well.
Love Under Quarantine had a strong start with a professional football player finding himself implicated in a scandal before winding up quarantined in his friend’s apartment. Lucky for him, his new neighbor is a sassy, single romance novelist. I liked Sadie’s spunk immediately, and found her personality to reflect the strong, self-aware heroines I’ve come to expect from Miss Scott. Initially, Evan fit the typical alpha male role but his sweet side exposed itself as the story progressed, and I definitely saw how these two fit by the end. I especially liked seeing Evan’s concern and care for Sadie develop over the course of the book. Unfortunately, with their relationship moving along pretty fast, I never really warmed up completely to them as a couple. They were cute, sure, and there was an obvious connection that was fostered by them sharing their fears, joys, and concerns as they navigated quarantine, but truthfully it fell flat after a bit and I found my interest waning. I did think the book and dialogue flowed well and there was definitely some good heat to Evan and Sadie’s romance that I’m sure many will appreciate.
While my high hopes for Love Under Quarantine weren’t quite realized, I did like how the authors managed to balance a sweet romance and good story with some of that light, fun banter many of us are in need of right now, without trivializing the fears and experiences of many. I know this book may touch on raw nerves with some readers but I think many will find sharing similar thoughts and responses to the strange time we currently find ourselves in cathartic. There were multiple moments and feelings the authors captured and put words to that resonated with me. I’d recommend this title to fans of sweet romances that have strong alpha leads, especially to those looking for a story relevant to our current situation.
Oh wow, I loved Sadie and Evan.
Two strangers who meet on their balcony following quarantine..
Nearly every day they meet and flirt .
You’d never in your wildest days think that these two could become more..
But they do .
There chemistry is off the charts and they haven’t even touched.
For 14 days they get to know one another…
They laugh.
They flirt.
And they fall in love .
When the 14 days are up and these two finally touch, their chemistry explodes.
Loved this book so hard
