Hunter and Taylor have been best friends since high school and nurturing secret feelings for one another the whole time. Now Taylor is back in town to flip a house for a reality show contest and Hunter is the contractor helping her make it happen. Both main characters have personal issues they need to work through and their friends make an enjoyable and amusing supporting cast. They thought that fixing a house would be easy. The process is similar to life. Build the proper foundation first and everything else falls in place. They weren’t ready for each other when they were younger. As adults going through the process, they learned more about each other and was open to more. Wonderful book.

To be honest the book bounced around a little too much for me. I prefer a smoother story line. Personal Preference. There is a lot of great quirky banter between the characters which will encourage you to finish the book and make it a quicker read. The story follows Taylor and Hunter, who have been friends since Hunter moved to town in youth. Hunter has had a rough life with his parents dying in childhood and can relate when Taylor loses her mom; which blossoms their friendship. Taylor thinks she is a designer based on how much television she has watched and buys a fix me up. She can’t do it without Hunter’s help. This story takes you on their adventure as best friends and will anything spark, or will something turn them away. The best friends of Kristen and Damien help along the story line.

Great story Best Friend’s since childhood neither one will admit to themselves that their feelings go way beyond ‘friendship’. Hunter is very protective of Taylor Jane & she is also jealous of his girlfriends but won’t admit this to him, all their other friends can see how much they love each other & keep trying to get them to tell each other. Whilst doing up an old relic house Taylor Jane has bought there is plenty of drama & emotions.
Loved this story so much read it in one go.
This was a totally fun and entertaining read about everybody’s favorite topic (or nightmare) home improvement. It has everything, the brooding hot guy and a totally believable storyline. If you need some laughs or some OMG moments, this is a book to read. I don’t want to tell much about the story, but, what would you do when your best friend asks you to flip a house. The writing style, the time jump in the chapters, truly explained the psyche of the main characters. Major plus — NO CLIFFHANGER!
I absolutely fell in love with the story! The way they were attracted to one another and it just built from there as they bonded and fought with each other to accomplish toward a goal. The feelings that Hunter has for Taylor Jane are heartwarming. He’s scared to actually go after her to be with her because he doesn’t want to ruin their friendship. He helps her with her project because she asked for the help and since they were best friends and he has experience on engineering. The way they finally get together melted my heart!

A funny, realistic, and loveable set of characters
Taylor Jane, an interior design graduate, and Hunter, a construction company owner, have been dancing around each other since they met her freshman year in high school. As the story progresses they focus on fulfilling her dream of winning a contest by flipping a home all while dealing with the pains of everyday life. M.C. Cerny gives the reader a funny, realistic, and loveable set of characters to start off her Love By Design series. I really want to see the rest of the group get their HEAs.
I received a free copy of the book from the author via Booksprout. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Wow, this is an awesome story. I loved the characters in this story and the way that the author wrote it in both of their view points. She also gave history of both of them as the story began giving the reader full insight into their thoughts and what made them the people that they were and are. There was only one problem that I had while reading it is that I would sometimes get confused as to who was talking. Or it could have just been me. Other than that there were times I was laughing so hard I had to stop reading because I just couldn’t see the words anymore.
This is a fantastic story of two people that have been best friends since high school. Hunter came to live across the street with his aunt and uncle after his parents were killed in an auto accident that he was involved in himself. Hunter was scared emotionally by the things his father had done and that scaring made him afraid to push himself to do what he felt for years.
Taylor Jane was in love with Hunter since the day he arrived to the school where his cousin Damien was introducing him at lunch time. Though she would never tell him so. They became close and best friends when her mother suddenly past away. Hunter was the only one that knew what she was going through, the only one that she would talk to about what as going on deep inside of her. He didn’t want to lose that. It took her buying a dilapidated old house to flip for them to finally find each other. Then something happens that could destroy what they finally found in each other. Will the be able to heal the hurts of the past and move forward. This is such a great story, it also brings to light some of the things that people who have lived through abusive situations growing up as children deal with as adults. This is one book that is too good to pass up.
Taylor Jane was to enter a contest by flipping a house. She cannot do it without the help of her friend Hunter. The characters are a little too stubborn but the story pulls it off.

I read the ARC for this book, so I am assuming that it hadn’t yet been through editing when I read it. That being said, even with the need for editing, I couldn’t put it down. The writing was witty and hilarious, and I can’t wait to read more from this author – perhaps Damien and Kristen’s story?

Hunter Hart knows construction. He knows relationships hurt after watching his parents self destruct. But he forgot all the warnings when Taylor Jane Bryant blasted into his life knocking down the carefully constructed walls around his heart one brick at a time.
Taylor Jane Bryant knows home design. Or at least she thinks she does based on all the marathon sessions of her favourite television show that she’s watched. She’s returned to her home town to try her hand at property development and enlists the help of her best friend that she’s secretly loved forever. Will they finally admit their feelings or will it drive them apart forever?
This is a sweet book that reminds you to not let your past dictate your future. I enjoyed the way the story was constructed (no pun intended), with the interchange between the past and current time. The ending seemed to switch gears quite quickly, it felt almost rushed and I think it would have been nice to get closure on Taylor’s dad, what happened to him in the end?

Taylor and Hunter were best friends growing up and secretly loved each other. Taylor bought a house to flip and Hunter agreed to help her after not seeing each other for several years.
This is a very well written story. The back and forth scenes tied in how close they were. Would the flip house help them come together or keep them as best friends?
Can they add love to their relationship and gets past all the ghost that haunt Hunter? You will have to read to find out.
It was so fun watching Hunter and Taylor consistently avoid their feelings for each other through the different stages of their life while still being completely supportive of each other. Their friendship alone made a great story but the romance made it a feel good winner.

I enjoyed the story. It had complex characters that tied together and gave you background and details to draw you win. Hunter is conflicted and feels he’s undeserving . Taylor Jane is the girl that he meets in high school and is basically the love of his life but he never pursues it. She on the other hand has always loved him and the story is about what happens when they get together after 10 years of being a part. This is a very sweet Story and I highly recommend it for an entertaining read.

Despite some sad events, this was a fun story to read. The banter between characters was very entertaining and listening in on their thoughts just added to the fun. I enjoyed the jumps back and forth in time. Sometimes that style of writing is difficult to follow but Chapter titles solved that issue. I hope the series continues with the other character’s stories!

Really enjoyed!
After waiting 10 years friends Hunter & Taylor Jane get heir friendship back & they found out that what they were feeling throughout high school only gets stronger. True love always wins in the end. Really enjoyable book. Can’t wait for the next ones.

I thought this book was good. It had some very funny parts. Taylor Jane and Hunter’s characters were great. Her’s being sweet and his rough, which is expected coming from his upbringing. I love that he was a Marine and it’s in a small town. Nothing like a money pit to bring out the best and worst in people.
Taylor and Hunter were middle school sweethearts who went their separate ways to college and into the military. Taylor binge watches Property Brothers and is sure she has the skills to flip a house. Not so fast! Since Hunter is a contractor, she needs his help, even if it means working closely every day. Hunter’s upbringing didn’t provide him with much of a basis for a relationship and, even though he wants her, he’s not a natural with love. I enjoyed watching them grow and share and the story was really well-written. I am bothered by another woman of any sort and I found this to be a major character flaw in Hunter. All in all, it’s a cute and sweet book.
Flaws, yes, but I still loved it…
My issue is generally typos, wrong words, grammatical errors etc & there were more than a few but one hopes the released version was improved upon. Won’t go into the story itself but it kept my attention despite there not being any hot & heavy scenes that I confess I like, but there was always this undercurrent of more than friendship that I hoped could be developed & I just couldn’t contain myself at the seriously laugh out loud situations that kept drawing me in. I might also have freaked out a few close neighbours. Thankfully the main characters gave in to their needs & desires so they could heal their past traumas & I could get my feel good swoons in, sigh! Highly recommended by this new to me author, kudos! I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
If you love any remodel, restore, or revamp shows, you’ll love this story. This is book one in the new series. Love By Design but can be read as a stand alone book. This is a fun, romantic read and I can’t wait for more from this series. Reading and getting to know Hunter and Taylor throughout the story was interesting as Hunter may know construction but he doesn’t know love and isn’t interested in finding love and taking the chance of being hurt. Taylor knows design and what she wants in her house flip. She also knows what she wants for love but can she break down the wall around Hunter’s heart and make that flip happen?
