Rand Slick started out as Joshua Smith with his sister Sarah and they lost their father. He ran away because he did not want to have to go to an orphanage. The book jumps and we start to see Rand in the current day and the effects that his past had on him. He had a heart of stone except for where his sister was concerned. Or so he thought.
Rachel Tinsdale is a private investigator in Las Vegas. She is not new to the game she is following in her father’s footsteps and she just got her license to practice. Rand asks her to do something risky and possible life threatening to get his sister back, Get herself sold into a white slave trade. She despite herself is attracted to him and chooses to agree to work for him. They have a plan and almost don’t stick to it. The book is full of adventures and a few mishaps that will make you try to guess what happens.
I kept thinking as a PI how did she not know that Rand Slick was not his real name. It sounded made up. Sometimes the people did not seem realistic but it is a book and maybe others will think it is. I really liked the ending. As for the characters I liked Jayna she seemed to have spunk despite what life had dealt her. I will be reading the next book in the series.

Story of an international sex trafficking operation. Rand Slick, a Wall Street mogul, is trying to rescue his sister who was abducted. He hires Rachel Tinsdale, a newly licensed P.I., to go undercover. His background story is sketchy, mostly because he isn’t who he appears to be. Their relationship is complicated but very HOT! Enjoyed it thoroughly and can’t wait to see what’s next in this series. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
In a bid to rescue his sister, Rand Slick approaches PI Rachel to assist him by going undercover as his love slave. In this Beauty and the Beast type love story, the jaded Rand finds his façade crumbling as Rachel breaks through his barriers to the broken boy who had to leave his sister behind. I was disappointed in this book as it had tremendous potential as a suspenseful drama, but instead focused on the building relationship between Rand and Rachel. The subject of the story revolved around human trafficking, but very little was said on the topic. The object of the story was the rescue of Sarah, however she barely features. The romance was strong if bordering on obsessive. I was drawn in by Rand’s brokenness and Rachel’s ability to bring him healing but felt that the rescue of Sarah and the conclusion of the story fell flat.
