This book took me on such an emotional rollercoaster, made the tension between both characters so tangible I felt their love and their pain, and I loved every second of it. Viola and Jasper have both loved each other since they were little but for some reason Jasper took a step back to allow his brother Gus to pursue Viola, so he has always kept his feelings close to the vest while secretly longing for Viola. Once Viola and Gus split due to Gus’ infidelity and the Rockstar lifestyle she tries to move on from her life and doesn’t see or have much to do with her ex or friends, especially after Jasper dropped a bomb on her by letting her know that all his songs were written for her. Years later these two find themselves in a weird situation that can’t be helped, and Viola oversees taking care and helping Jasper’s autistic, who is beautiful and brilliant, while Gus is out to win her back not knowing Viola is truly done and over with him. At times I would get mad at Viola for allowing Gus to get so handsy with her in front Jasper because she had to know it upset him, but I would also get aggravated with Jasper because he couldn’t handle their situation and lashes out at Viola. It is beyond obvious these two are meant to be together, but can Jasper let go of his insecurities and go after the girl of his dreams or will he let the past and current issues dictate what he wants again? I have so many questions about what will happen from here and what is up with Viola’s mother and friend because Jules started behaving awfully there towards the end and what will happen to Jasper and Viola. This is a duet and does end on a cliffhanger, but the second book isn’t too far behind this one and it is going to be so worth the wait.
I had a great time with this storyline it is well written and flow smoothly. The characters are well developed and kept me entertained.

If you like good rock star romance ,this one shouldn’t be missed. It is a great, complicated, emotional romance.
The writing is excellent and the storyline is intriguing.
Viola and Jasper, both amazing characters. And talk about sexual tension…
Their relationship is complicated, their feelings are not
I don’t know how they will get HEA.

“…and I’m about to come face-to-face with a man who somehow managed to break my heart when I never knew he possessed it in the first place.”
“Is it possible to fall in love with a man’s secret? With his private poetry? Even when he spent years ignoring, avoiding, and generally acting as if he hated you?”
It’s been such a long time that I have read a slow burn romance this GOOD, I’m in love!!! I’m digging the love triangle-ish aspect- the angst and drama that comes out of it. Add the rockstar trope and I’m sold. This book had me- mind, heart and soul.
This is my first read from the author and I can’t express how badly I want to read the last installment. I loved how the author combined the above elements I’ve said that had me slowly dying and rooting for the main characters. I simply adore the hell out of this story!
Jasper & Viola
After an unexpected breakup. Viola tries to restart her life after her breakup from her best friend and the one person she thought she would have forever with.
She’s left thinking was it really meant to be? How can someone love you and be dishonest and break your heart?
After years of ups and downs Viola has been giving a break something that can change her life and finally put her back on track, until she realizes who has given her the offer.
This book is written in DPV and you get to fully see what Jasper is going through and what he went through in the past. How deep he feels for Viola and how he always shy’s from situations with her.
Mixed in a triangle between two brothers, Is Viola ready to get back into the scene of her ex-boyfriend and the one other person who gave her, her first kiss?
Now I know I have a new author to love! I loved this book, even with the cliffhanger at the end. It has a brooding, talented, poetically inclined rock star, a precious little girl and a fantastic love triangle, what’s not to love?
Violet was best friends with fraternal twins Gus and Jasper since they were eight years old. When they were fourteen, two things happened: she had her first kiss with Jasper and then he started to ignore her. So she started dating Gus. When they hit stardom and Gus started screwing all and any groupie who threw herself at him, she realized it was time to cut loose before she started hating him. There’s a fantastic scene, full of love, longing and repentance where they break up, still loving each other.
Fast forward eight years, Gus and Jasper are infamously wealthy rock stars and Jasper, a single father, has a three year old baby girl with the autism spectrum. He needs to go on tour and needs someone to help him with his daughter. And it turns that Violet is destitute, thanks to a thieving druggie mother, and happens to be an extremely prepared in special education, specialized in autistic children. Against his better judgement, Jasper hires her for the five-month tour and this is when things start to happen.
During their teens, Violet was always with the band while they were practicing. When she joined them again eight years later, they all felt like their group was complete and she was their missing piece.
“You’re not the same, and yet you are. We rocked that show tonight because of you. Because our fifth member is back, and now it all just feels complete.”
Especially Gus, he felt like he was getting his second chance back. But all Violet felt was friendship toward Gus and lust towards Jasper. It didn’t hurt that she fell in love with precious Adalyn, who was an happy, mischievous, intelligent child, in spite of her deficits. To Jasper’s surprise, Adalyn immediately took to Violet and started to improve, making Violet more important each day.
I loved their back and forth, between hot attraction and cold shoulders. Jasper is following the bro code, since Gus was Violet’s boyfriend before and he still placed a claim on Violet. There’s lots of foreplay, lots of longing, lots of misunderstanding. Where there was friendly banter with Gus, Jasper mistook it for lovers flirting. I noticed when Violet tried to tell Jasper she was into him, but he totally missed the cues. He spent the whole book hurting, feeling jealous, trying to ignore Violet and failing. Some times he let her see his vulnerability and it was at those times that I felt Violet falling hard for him. I can’t wait to see what the next book brings!
4.5 Stars!!
I haven’t been able to contain my excitement for this duet since it was announced! I was absolutely ecstatic when Love To Hate Her landed on my kindle and even more so when I got to dive into this story. Holy cow! This first book made me feel ALL the feels! I loved it so much!
Jasper and Viola’s journey is quite the unique one! I couldn’t get enough of these two! From their history to their chemistry that had me blushing so many times, I adored them! I loved getting to dig deeper with Jasper and Viola. The moments with Adalyn warmed my heart so much. I also really enjoyed the music aspect and what it brought to the story as well.
I’ve been wanting to pick up Ms.Saman’s work for the longest time and I’m so stinking happy that I finally got the chance to! I’m kicking myself for not having done so sooner.
With Love To Hate Her, Ms.Saman has created a read that will touch your heart, keep you glued to your kindle, and make you feel everything! I already want more! I’ll definitely be counting down the days until book two Hate To Love Him releases!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from InkSlinger PR / the author*
Superbly written! An extremely entertaining, well thought out, emotionally deep, captivating and interesting read. Strong characters you will love and root for; the chemistry between them is off the charts! This book is guaranteed to leave you wanting more; and there is more to come in book 2. Definitely recommended!

Absolutely awesome read! This is my first book by this author and most definitely won’t be my last. From the first page I was completely engrossed and couldn’t put it down. Viola grew up around and has been friends with Gus and Jasper since they were kids. Eventually Viola and Gus became a couple, until he began loving his rockstar lifestyle more than her. Jasper has always loved Viola, but he never interfered with their relationship. No spoilers, you need to read this book!!! This story riveting, and I loved every single page of it, and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

I was bouncing back and forth with emotions throughout this. I felt for Jasper and his undying love for Viola, even when she was dating his brother. There are hurts and secrets, and regrets that will have you on the edge and at one point, I felt like I was going to explode from the anticipation. The characters are well written and so intriguing that I have a hard time having to wait for the conclusion to this. I am rooting for Viola and Jasper.
Viola and Jasper’s story is such a complicated one! Viola had fallen in love with Jasper’s brother, Gus. Jasper, who never told her how he felt, ended up confessing a secret to her. When Viola and Gus broke up because of his cheating, she left and took the secret she kept with her.
When Jasper needs a nanny for his autistic daughter, it is at a time when Viola is looking for a job and accepts the nanny role. Will Jasper speak up and tell her how he feels now? Is there a chance for them to build a family of their own? Or will Gus’ attempts to get her back ruin everything? Can they deal with the conflicts still awaiting them, or will it tear apart any chance they have?
This was a good story with lots of feeling. The reader immediately wants Viola and Jasper to get their long-awaited chance, especially since Viola and his daughter are so good together. But he lost Viola the first time by not speaking up – will he make the same mistake twice?
I’m speechless, breathless, heartbroken.
So I’ll just say this is the perfect story. It’s intense.
I was captivated by the writing of J. Saman. The whole story is so poetic that smoothly takes you forward. It doesn’t let you stop for a second, not even to catch your breath or assess your emotions.
You need more and more.
J. Saman writes fantastic characters. Now, I have to read the second book in the duet to find out what happens!
5 Stars is not nearly enough to describe how much I loved this book! Once again, J. Saman created a world with characters I loved, some I can’t help but angry at, and some I’m still trying to figure out all while luring me in with a brilliant tale of love and heartbreak!
This first book in this chapter is basically the end of a relation, an era even. But with it comes a revelation that turns Viola’s world upside down. Seven years later, her life is about to change again, and she’ll come face to face with Jasper.
Everything about Vi and Jasper was perfection! The longing, the hidden desire, the anger, and the heartbreak all left me overwhelmed! There were so many incredible quotes that I think about 1/4 of the book is highlighted! This truly is an epic love story but it kills me that it ended on a cliffhanger! I’m salivating for the next book!!!
I was very fortunate to receive an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Viola and Gus were a couple but being a rock star meant that Gus was living the rock star “life”. A life that Viola just couldn’t, wouldn’t be a part of so she walked away. Before she left, Gus’s twin brother, Jasper, told Viola that she was the star of every song he wrote on Wild Minds’ debut album. Seven years later, Gus manipulates a situation so that Viola is now the nanny for Jasper’s autistic daughter and back in their lives. Things are even more complicated now than ever before.
I devoured this book. I was hooked from the first chapter when Jasper reveals his feelings to Viola to the last page where J. Saman decides to leave readers with a massive GASP before closing. This love triangle/second chance (maybe?) romance is made up of amazing characters, alternately heartbreaking and sweet scenes and a touch of heat promising toward scorching scenes to come. Viola is a young woman who knows her worth when she breaks off her romance with wild rocker Gus. Despite strong feelings, she has the integrity to walk away than be the long-suffering girlfriend. The years in between were not great for Viola but she has made her way, and in a bit of kismet, becomes a teacher for special students. Jasper, a rock god, is the broody, artistic lead singer who gave up the girl to his brother but has been haunted ever since. The bright spot in his world is his daughter, who he will move heaven and earth to protect. Gus is the epitome of all things Rock ‘n Roll. Hard partying, living the music life for all it’s worth, Gus is either brilliant or completely clueless ~ I’m not sure which yet.
J. Saman has offered up an emotionally charged, passionate story set to the backdrop of the rock world. Love to Hate Her has light moments, heavy moments, sexy scenes, what the heck scenes, characters that you can easily fall in love with and a couple of plot twists that hint at some epically explosive times to come.
J. Saman has written a 5-star book that has the characters dealing with old feelings for each other. Viola was best friends with Jasper and his brother Gus when they were younger. The brothers along with 2 friends started a band and became rock stars. Gus at the time was Viola’s boyfriend and while out on tour he cheated on her. She went to where they were one night and she caught him with another girl and broke up with him. After the breakup, she didn’t have anything to do with the band. Now 7 years later, she is a teacher who has been laid off. Jasper has a 3-year-old little girl Adalyn who has Autism Spectrum Disorder and needs someone to care for her while the band is on a 5-month tour. Gus has given Jasper’s manager Violas name as someone who would be perfect as a nanny for Adalyn. Viola is called but not told if she accepts the job, whom she would be working for at first. When Jasper hears that it is Viola that was hired he is not happy. He doesn’t know how he will put up with her for 5 months with the feelings he still has for her. His brother Gus said that he may try to get her back. Viola still loves Gus but not the way she did. The more time Viola and Jasper spend together the more her feelings for him change. Jasper invites some friends to one of the shows and Jules who is a friend of Viole tells Jasper that Viola is still in love with Gus and that they are going to get back together, Keith a band member tells Jules to be quite and that Viola has not spent any time with Gus. Viola and Gus have a talk and she goes back to her room. Jasper is there be himself, Adalyn is sleeping and when Viola walks in, she asks him if he wanted to go out with the band? He asks her the same question and she tells him no. They start talking and Jasper tells her that he would give her anything that she wanted if only he know what it was. She tells him that what she wants, she doesn’t think he is ready to give it to her yet.
Will Viola finally get to be with Jasper or will she go back to being alone?
Will Jasper figure out that Viola has feelings for him and let her know he feels the same way or will he lose her for good?
This book will have you from the first page to the last.
I would recommend it to anyone.

J. Saman where have you been all my life? How is this my first book by this author? I knew once I’d read the synopsis that this book was one I was going to like but I never expected to love it as much as I did.
I was hooked from the first word and I didn’t put this down once while reading. I fell head over heels for Viola, Jasper and Adalyn.
Viola, Jasper and Gus grew up together. Viola and Jasper grow apart when her and Gus get together and even though they’re always around each other, things between them are never quite the same. Fast forward a few years later and Viola and Gus have split up and Jasper drops a bombshell on Viola when she’s already reeling from the break up. I really liked Viola. There’s something about her that I loved. She’s had a bad childhood and her life hasn’t improved since her break up with Gus but you’d never be able to tell from her attitude. She’s got this calming vibe, she’s chilled out, thoughtful, mature, not one to argue over the small stuff. Her attitude and instant connection with Adalyn made me love her that little bit more than I already did.
Jaspers life couldn’t be any more different to Violas. A single dad with a successful band, it seems like he’s got his life in order. The only thing that could derail his plans is if he can’t find a nanny for his daughter. Going on tour with his band is going to be hard enough but with a little girl to look after, he knows he’ll need a nanny to help. Of course the one woman he’s never been able to forget would be the one woman who would be the perfect nanny for his daughter. He knows hiring her is a bad idea but he doesn’t really have a choice. As a parent of a child with autism I instantly connected with Jaspers character. I found him really easy to relate to. I understood his concerns and apprehension when it comes to his daughter. His little girl Adalyn is an absolute sweetheart. The similarities between Adalyn and my child was something I wasn’t expecting (every child is different) so I found it extremely easy to fall in love with her. She’s such an adorable little girl. This author has to have some experience with the spectrum (and if she doesn’t then I’m even more impressed) because she’s got everything to do with it absolutely spot on perfect.
I loved Viola and Jasper. I loved their history, I adored them as people and I couldn’t get enough of the push and pull between them. The chemistry between them is hot, the banter was perfect and the angst was exactly how I like it. I loved everything about them together. This is a brilliant book and one that I can’t recommend enough. I can’t wait for the next book to find out what happens next.
There is nothing I like better than a good rock star romance and this one is great. I was glued to my couch while reading this complicated, emotional romance. There is something just so genuine and real about it. The writing is excellent and the story so compelling that I couldn’t put it down. I love Viola and Jasper who are both amazing characters. And talk about sexual tension…no two people have ever needed to get it on so much as Viola and Jasper! Although, even if they can get their heads on straight and actually come clean about their feelings, they are still in an impossible position because of Gus, who is Viola’s ex and Jasper’s brother. If they get together the fallout could be disastrous for the band and his family. I don’t know how the author is going to work this out to get an HEA but I am dying to find out. I loved this story and can’t wait for book two.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
Wow. First, the word craft in this book is wonderful. Jasper, the poet, the writer comes to life in 3d all because of the way his words are crafted. Viola, with her hurt and vulnerability, but also her feistyness, is equally brought to life by words that convey her voice, her story. We are truly immersed into their rocky world.
I received an advance copy, this is my honest and voluntary opinion.
I can’t do anything other than root for a beautiful HEA for those two. They are perfect for eachother, they just can’t see it, yet.
Can hardly wait for the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
