Definitely a feel good cozy. Very quick read, no one dies, but a crime has been committed that changes three young adults lives. Margot is a wonderful mentor and it was nice to see people from conflicting religions coming together.

At the Interfaith Worship Center Margot witnesses some complicated interactions between members of different faiths. When one of them is struck ill, Margot suspects more is going on and seeks to find the truth. I like that Margot is a strong, compassionate person who works to help others, no matter who they are.

Margot works hard as a reverend to bring people of different faiths together. and successfully brought 3 young people together to become the leaders of h er interfaith youth group. But when Amira’s futher suddenly gets sick out of the blue, her cousin Sam is suspicious. When a second case shows with similar symptoms Margot has to find out who is behind it and why the people had been targeted.
A very typical story for the series, well-written and balanced. A mix of mystery and human interest.

Love Thy Neighbor is a short but sweet cozy mystery with no swearing. Our protagonist, Reverend Margot Quade, who is also former military, returned home some months ago to take over as the local pastor. When someone becomes ill at her homecoming celebration, she finds herself in the middle of the investigation. She is extremely likable and the local characters are fantastic. While this is the first book in the series that I’ve read, I truly didn’t feel as though I missed out by not reading the previous ones and I’m looking forward to seeing where the series takes the Reverend and her friends. I will, however, go back and start from the beginning because I’m curious to see how it all started. I really enjoyed this book and I think you will, too!

Reverend Margot finally makes the move to the parsonage . Cousin Sam and some of the youth group kids helped to prepare the spaces in it, and decorated the basement as a meditation and gathering space.
An interfaith worship center faces some challenges, and feuding neighbors make for additional challenges
As the youth group kids begin to plan for their futures, mostly beyond the town, serious situations develop and threaten the safety and well being of the neighbors and the town
Sam and Margot face their own growing pains. Once close as sisters, their years apart, and time together since Margot returned from her seminary and military careers leave them feeling thrir way to their new roles in each other’s lives
Touching and inspiring examples of friendships even in the face of hard things
Reverend Margot Quade had been home in Port Marie for 18 months now, and things were beginning to settle down. The young people were involved in their interfaith activities, learning respect even for differences and seeing the common ground of their various faiths. It also helped that they grew up together as neighbors. Several of the young people had stopped her on the sidewalk to chat about college plans and such. When she finally had the chance, she entered the dark parsonage, but her honed military senses told her she wasn’t alone! She threw on a light switch and Sam, Patrick, Amira, Cam, and Moses shouted “Surprise!” With Margot deciding to move into the parsonage provided for her, they had made the empty space a welcoming home for her with some additional furniture, an office space, and a family picture of Sam and Margot taken last Summer. Apparently her meeting with Amira and Moses on the sidewalk had been a diversionary tactic to stall her until they were ready for the surprise! Even the basement had been made into a cozy, carpeted space for prayer or just relaxing.
Everyone started eating the snacks when a scream erupted. Amira stood in the doorway covering her mouth in shock as her father lay sprawled on the grass in front of the parsonage, clutching his chest as his entire body shook with spasms! Even though it looked like a heart attack, Sam had noticed a rash on his arm and felt that his symptoms were “off”. And Amira had mentioned that her father had refused to come to the party, yet he collapsed in Margot’s front yard! Margot took Amira to the hospital to meet up with her mom, and Sam reminded her to stick around there. Amira may be a Muslim, but she saw Margot as a friend and mentor she could rely on. Sam still sensed something was wrong about the “heart attack”.
The doctors had to put Mr. Fayet in a medically-induced coma when his stroke was accompanied by breathing issues and a seizure. They were not sure he would survive. Margot and Sam started the search for answers and they find a longstanding feud between Mr. Fayet, a Muslim, and his neighboring Jewish family. But when the neighbor displays the same “stroke” symptoms, it raises the question of whether someone else is using the feud to cover their own evil deeds? Will Margot and Sam discover who is behind this and why?
This was a very well-written cozy mystery. It did get a tiny bit “preachy” (LOL), but the nature of the characters makes that a reasonable expectation. The characters were interesting and the situation they were thrown into was suspenseful. Grab your copy and see if Margot and Sam can solve this one!
The story line was good, the character work was good, the book had a smooth flow to it. This was another great addition to the series and kept me entertained from beginning to end.
