“I’ve always been a fan of Skye Warren ever since I read Wanderlust. Her writing is flawless and tales captivating. Love The Way You Lie is no exception. 5 Stars.” ~ Pepper Winters, New York Times bestselling author of Tears of TessA dark romance about the lies that lead us down…I’ll do anything to stay hidden, even if that means working at the scariest club in town. Then he shows up, … shows up, mysterious and yet strangely familiar. And so damn sexy.
When he looks at me, I forget why I can’t have him. He’s beautiful and scarred. His body fits mine, filling the places where I’m hollow, rough where I am soft.
He’s the only man who wants to help, but he has secrets of his own.
He has questions I can’t answer.
I’m running from my past, but his might catch me first.

So what would you do to protect someone you love? Someone you who young and innocent? Honor knows the price it is to be the daughter of a Mafia Don’s daughter and the horrors of that world includes. Having experiencing first hand there isn’t any length she won’t go to make sure her younger sister, Clara, is far away when her future is being planned. On the run, they end up in Tanglewood, WV where Honor is looking for answers from the past to help keep them safe. Taking a job as a stripper, as Honey, she does anything and everything to ensure that future.
After months of being Honey, someone shows up, Kip. The strange familiarity of him and the way he tries to know who she has her ready to run again. But with answers so close she knows she needs to stay just a little while longer. But by the staying, will the danger is get closer to get and her sister come from her past or from the man who keeps coming back, whose eyes look like that they know the real her?
This book, true to Ms. Warren ‘s style, has it all in a world where you are rooting for the guy that is far from innocent. A strong woman who does anything to protect her sister even if it means doing things she never thought she would do will leave you feeling her pain. There isn’t one thing you won’t feel in this book.
Amazing story! What Honor does trying to keep her and her sister safe. What they give up. And Kip. You don’t know if he’ll be good for Honor or not. The lies that bind. The truth that cleanses. The emotions I felt while reading/listening. Sooo good and can’t wait to dive in to the rest of the series.
The time has come for me to make my way back to erotic/contemporary romance. I’ve always been an avid fan Skye’s work and I wanted to start making my way back through her backlist. I first read Hold me Against you and that happens to be my favorite work of Skye’s. Although this book was a breeze to get through, there is no comparison in which couple I like more.
Honor and Kip have a fantastic introduction. There was so much mystery in the new client that held so much of my interest throughout the book. Everything from the abusive fiancé to shady bosses and drug addicted coworkers set a perfect scene to envision.
Even though Honor shows bravery in running away with her younger sister, she didn’t seem to hold that boldness throughout the story. That being said, I still enjoyed the hell out of this book and can’t wait to continue on to the next book in the series.
The plot is gritty and dark at times.
Was I started read this book I was hooked
and couldn’t put it down.
The characters are interesting some times likable and sometimes not.

I loved the premise of this book. Honor is a heavily guarded mafia princess who is destined for an arranged marriage to an abusive man. She accepts her future until she overhears the plans for her younger sister, Clara. To save her sister, Honor plans a daring escape. She and Clara are forced into hiding and Honor takes a job at a strip club. There she meets a mysterious man, Kipling. Honor can’t fight her attraction to him and she’s not sure if he’s her protector or the man who will be her undoing.
I really enjoyed the first 75% of the book. Honor and Kipling are both fascinating characters and there is a lot of chemistry between them. The plot is well developed through most of the book but, unfortunately, falls apart in the end. The conclusion seemed very hasty to me. Everything was wrapped up too quickly and too neatly. I thought that was a disservice to how intricate and complex the plot had been until that point.
The prequel, Tough Love, definitely needs to be read before this book. I was nervous because of a MC change (Tough Love mainly featured Clara and Love the Way You Lie was entirely from her sister Honor’s POV), and lackluster reviews. I almost skipped this book, but I’m so glad I gave it chance! I was really into it. I think it helped that I read a couple books between the prequel and this book. I was really emotionally involved with Clara’s story, and taking a breather helped me be more open to Honor’s story. This book filled in some of the blanks that occurred between Byron and Honor in Tough Love.
*I’ve noticed on goodreads some of the low reviews are because readers really wanted to follow Gio and Clara’s story after Tough Love. This book follows Honor’s story. If you’ve read Tough Love and want to follow Gio and Clara’s story you can jump straight to Hold You Against Me. It’s a standalone, doesn’t really spoil this book, and picks up on the cliffhanger from Tough Love.
Ok, back to this book review.
I appreciated that the mafia element was very low-key. I don’t read a ton of mafia books, and I appreciated that the mafia plot came no where near being OTT. Readers wanting major mafia action will be let down. I loved the angsty relationship between the H/h and how it developed. The story and suspense really drew me in.
The setting, a strip club, was…unsavory. All the characters were rather sordid and flawed. I like morally ambiguous, flawed characters so this was right up my alley.
This one kept me on the edge of my seat!! Absolutely loved it!

This is a wonderful, steamy Mafia romance with plenty of action! Honor/Honey has runaway from an abusive relationship that her Mafia father had put her in. She took her younger sister Clara with her to prevent the same fate happening to her. Working at a dilapidated strip club, she is trying to find out more about the disappearance of her mother and the family jewels years ago. Kip appears in the club and sets off all kinds of triggers, most importantly one of desire and attraction which she has felt for no man. There is plenty of intrigue that will leave you trying to figure out who Kip really is and make it hard to put your Kindle down to do anything else. It is a real page turner! But thank goodness everything seems to work out in the end. This is a magnificent book by Skye Warren and if you haven’t read her books before, you better check her out, because everything she writes is golden.
