How do you ignore the fact that your ex is now a famous Rock Star when you hear him on the radio all the time? Oh, and the songs he’s written are all about you and how horrible you are?!?! YIKES! Well that’s only one of the problems Jill has with Adam. Now Adam is a different story, for him Jill is the one that got away and writing is a way for him to get his feelings out, whether or not they put her in a bad light.
I am thrilled we have gotten Adam’s story. If you have read some of the other Stage Dive books you have probably met Adam Dillon before, he is the up and coming Rock Star that the band has taken under their wing. Well now Adam is doing well for himself and may just have a second chance with the woman that stole his heart before she threw him to the curb a year ago.
This novella is a great addition for those of us that have read the STAGE DIVE SERIES and for those of you that haven’t this is a great time to jump in because it can be read as a standalone. 1,001 Dark Nights Novella’s are a great way to test out a new author or a new series to see if it’s something you would like to dive into (pun intended lol) and for lovers of the author and/or series it gives us a story we may not have gotten otherwise.
Happy Reading!!!
Swooning here It was a fun, quick and easy read.
Jill and Adam…. An ex couple who comes face to face again after a bad breakup. .. What if your soulmate is there in front of you but it’s not the right time?! Sometimes, you have to leave and grow and learn and become a better you. If it’s meant to be, you’ll get a second chance. Too love, understand and appreciate that person better.
There’s nothing wrong with being scared but taking a leap of faith anyway… Well written/ enjoyable read for sure. I adore the Stage Dive world.
I always love traveling back to Portland and the world of Stage Dive. Love Song by Kylie Scott is about Adam Dillon, a rock star who has been supported by the Stage Dive crew reconnecting with his ex girlfriend who he wrote a hate fueled album about. I loved this story, Jill is every girl who has dated a musician. I deeply related to her as I have that affliction too. Being second choice over music wares on you after a while and the way that was described was perfect.
Our favorite Mad Drummer, Mal has a couple hysterical interactions and I love that he still speaks to Kylie Scott and we get snips to know that Mal has not changed. It’s not just him, the whole Stage Dive crew makes an appearance and it feels like hanging out with old friends.
My biggest complaint is that I just wanted more. That is true of all of Kylie’s books though. She is a one click author for me, I just want all her books all the time. Knowing it was a novella I was expecting something short, but this felt a little rushed. I would have liked a few extra chapters, or a longer time lapse. That said the story was completely enjoyable and satisfying.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily give my review.
Second chance, swoony romance at its best! Falling in love when you’re young and stupid is easy. Growing and changing together is the hard part. Jill and Adam find out how to take that young love and make it forever.
4.5 Stars!
Adam Dillon and Jill Schwartz broke up about a year ago and went their separate ways. Both still carried resentment and hard feelings, so when their paths cross again things turn heated between them. A lot has changed since they last saw one another. Jill’s ex-boyfriend is now a rich and famous rock star. His face was everywhere, but seeing him in person was something else entirely. He’d once been the love of her life. She’d been trying to put him in the past, and thought she was over him, but she couldn’t deny her heart still raced when he was near.
Jill Schwartz was the one that got away. Adam had come a long way following his dreams, but soon figured out success wasn’t everything. He’d been so fixated on his music he knew he wasn’t the best boyfriend. Now he’s prepared to show Jill just how good they were together.
Love Story (A Stage Dive Novella) by Kylie Scott is a 1001 Dark Nights standalone rock star romance about a talented, swoony musician and his beautiful muse. We get to return to the Stage Dive world with an all new second chance story that is absolutely fabulous! I fell hard for this sexy rocker and loved getting more of all the Stage Dive men, especially Mal. He’s still as hilarious as ever!
To love or to hate the rock star that uses you as inspiration for his most successful album?
Jill Schwartz seems to be in doubt.
After receiving a very high check from her ex-boyfriend, Adam Dillon, who used her as an inspiring muse for songs that keep playing everywhere she goes, she decides to confront him.
The problem was that if, on the one hand, in the lyrics she is painted as the true witch who broke his heart in all possible ways, deep down, the love expressed by him was present in each line.
But why did he never say he loved her that way before?
And how can she deal with this new rock star who lives in the same building as the band Stage Dive?
Have fun with this romantic short story.
4 stars
Short and sweet, angsty and hot! This novella has it all. Adam Dillon is the newest rock star and Jill is his disgruntled ex-girlfriend. She is haunted by his songs, which are all about her. And it really doesn’t help that his perspective of their relationship is entirely untrue. She receives a chance to talk to him face to face about their relationship, the check he sent her and all the things in between. I love the banter and heat between these two. It all takes place in the span of 24 hours, and what a 24 hours it is! I love the guest appearances of all the Stage Dive characters, making this novella even more fun. Seeing what everyone is up to is just the cherry on top of the very fun sundae.
Of course my favorite character has his own shining moment in this story, and that is what I love about Kylie Scott going back to this series so much. Mal Ericson, is there anyone that can compare?
Fortunately Adam does his best and holds his own in this story. This is of course just a novella, so not very long, but I like the way everything plays out in perfect timing. Because Adam and Jill had such a past, one that is really what has rocketed Adam to stardom with the songs he wrote over their breakup, it is easy to get them together realistically quickly. And being able to use the characters we know and love from the Stage Dive series to help not only Jill work through her thoughts and feelings, but also for us to get to know her and Adam’s relationship, is the perfect way to write this little extra story for the series. Another winner from Kylie Scott!
And in case I forgot to mention it before, there’s definitely enough Mal to feed my cravings for him!
A great quick read in the Stage Dive series. I really enjoyed this second chance storyline with snippets from past characters.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by author)…
This is Adam and Jill’s quick story.
I love a good second chance romance especially if the hero is trying to woo his woman back. I absolutely adored Jill and her awesomeness and Adam for sweet determination to get one true love back.
As always I love seeing the Stage Dive family and I would totally love novellas on them, but most especially Mal, Anne and Tommy.
This is great addition to the Stage Dive series!
Nice intro for new readers, a quick, enjoyable read for series fans
The Stage Dive books are long time favorites of my mine, being my go-to rereads when I’m having trouble getting into anything else, so I’m always excited to get an extension to the series. While I thought this book worked particularly well as a stand alone, the other ladies of Stage Dive do get some appearances here, along with the irrepressible Mal, who seemed almost, *gasp*, adult, lol. So, having read the earlier books helps give some context to their advice, with Lick and Strong being particularly relevant but again, not really necessary.
A second chance story centering around Adam, the up-and-coming rock star we first met in Strong (the story is told from the POV of his ex, Jill), I thought it was a nice touch that Adam was NOT the standard debauched rock god here. He’s already, been there, done that, and with the help of his Stage Dive mentors and an unlikely fairy godmother in the form of his manager, Martha, he’s ready to try to make up for previous failings. The strong and independent female lead I expect to get from this author, Jill has been doing just fine, thank you, and doesn’t need anything from Adam, even if she hasn’t gotten over him as much as she’d like to pretend.
I enjoyed watching these two work out their issues; it always amazes me how quickly this author pulls me into caring about her characters, while catching up with the ones who feel like old friends is a welcome benefit. The only criticism I have is the story felt a little too short, with the path a little too smooth—but that just may be me being greedy, lol—and in spite of that, this is still probably going to be one of my favorite reads for the year.
At the end of the day, this is a nice intro into the Stage Dive world for newbies, with enough from earlier characters to please long time fans, and just the quick, enjoyable read I was looking for. 4.5 to 5 stars
Ahh…more Stage Dive. This little Novella is about Adam. A guy that showed potential to Stage Dive, so they brought him on. Adam made mistakes. The worst would be how he treated Jill. Jill had enough of him and gave him the boot. After some time, Adam sent something to Jill. This made Jill seek out Adam. Adam has grown up a lot and is now living his dream. What Jill thought would only be a quick meet, ended up lasting so much longer. This is a second chance romance with some sizzle. Even the Stage Dive crew makes an appearance. I love this series and this one doesn’t disappoint either.
4.5 stars!
A spin-off novella from the Stage Dive series that easily stands alone, this is a fun, sweet and sexy love story featuring rockstar Adam Dillon in a second-chance-romance that stole my heart.
Adam has achieved phenomenal success with the release of his first album. Unfortunately for his ex-girlfriend, Jill, that album is full of hate songs about how she callously broke his heart. Jill has been able to deal with the constant reminders of her own heartbreak, but his latest move pushes her too far, and she tracks him down to resolve things once and for all.
It’s a great set-up, and I was so excited to see how it was all going to play out. It’s funny, feisty and dramatic as these two ex-lovers reunite and hash out their issues, and it doesn’t take too long for raw feelings to explode.
“How fucking dare you? You wrote a whole damn album telling the world how you felt when you couldn’t even tell me. Not once. Not even once did you tell me how you felt about me.”
“You kicked me out.”
“You took me for granted.”
“You blocked my number.”
“You behaved like an emotionally repressed immature asshole, and I didn’t want to talk to you.” I slammed my hands against his chest. “So there,” I yelled like a reasonable adult.
“I loved you!” he roared back at me. “I loved you, Jill. And maybe I was shit at showing it, but I would have figured it out. I would have gotten there. Why the hell did you give up on me so soon?”
OMG, the chemistry is electric! Even in such a short read, Scott creates such a wonderful dynamic between these two, and all of that passion and intensity delivers seriously steamy sexy time as they figure out where they are at and what they want.
“Break my heart again, Jill.” His sweet sexy smile made my heart hurt. Damn the man. “C’mon. I dare you.”
The rest of the Stage Dive crew appear, and we get to spend a little bit of time with them. I loved seeing them all together and catching up on developments in their stories. It makes me keen for a series reread, I love them all so much!!
This is a really fun novella with a great story, a lot of heart, and a super satisfying HEA.
I loved it – 4.5 stars!
This definitely made me want to read more. This is a short novella and not having read any of the other books in this series before, it left me wanting more! I was sucked in to this second chance romance! It’s sexy, funny, and perfect for unwinding after a long day.
3.75 stars. This was a good read! Love Song is a fun addition to the Stage Dive series. It is Adam and Jill’s story. Adam is an up and coming rock star in the band that opens for Stage Dive. Jill is his ex-girlfriend. She broke up with Adam because he seemed to only focus on his music, instead of getting a job or letting her know how he felt about her. Soon after their breakup, Adam made it big in the music business and wrote an album of angry songs about her. When Jill receives a huge check in the mail from him and no explanation, she shows up to demand answers from him. The couple hashes out their problems and figures out why they didn’t work out the first time. Along the way, they find they really still love each other and are meant to be together.
This was a quick, enjoyable read. I really liked Jill and Adam. I was glad they were able to get back together and find happiness even better than before with more communication. They were romantic and sweet. I did wonder how long the couple had been broken up. I also wanted a bit more remembering of the good times between them before they broke up to see why they would want to get back together. If this was a bit longer of a novella, those questions might could have been answered. Still, I did enjoy this book. I also enjoyed catching back up with the Stage Dive band member couples.
Overall, this was an entertaining book. I still really enjoy this series and look forward to more from Ms. Scott in the future!
The lyric finds it’s melody with breathtaking results. Love Song is a story of regret and second chances that engulfs the heart rather quickly. Jill and Adam are a captivating duo that will drown you in temptation. Scott teases the senses with soulful romance.
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a really fun story with the Stage Dive group. Its about a rock star, Adam Dillon that sings about his one lost love and his lost love, Jill who comes back into his life to return a check he sent her.
I absolutely adored this story. Jill is an absolute laugh riot and she gives Adam all her anger about his anger filled songs. Meanwhile Adam is just a lonely rock star and he tries to win her heart. He lives in the same building as Mal and Anne and some of the gang also make appearances.
Its a pretty short novella but I absolutely loved seeing the gang again and I loved the humor that Jill brings to this story.
Good and cute
The story is about being won back after a new pre-fame rockstar Adam’s abrupt split from the one who kicked him out and on whom he wrote a murderous album, Jill. The romance itself is pretty straightforward and sweet, but I really enjoyed seeing the characters from Stage Dive again, with Mal still so quirky and facetious 🙂
If you love rockstar romance, you will absolutely adore Love Song by Kylie Scott. Even if you don’t love rockstar romance, you will still fall in love with this second chance romance. It captured the emotions, the passion and the special magic of rockstar romance beautifully in a novella form.
This story is set in Stage Dive universe .Adam Dillon has raised to fame by writing an album about his breakup and raging out about his ex through the music. Jill could tolerate the uncomfortable situation barely but then Adam sent her a seven figure check compensating for everything he failed at. And she has to confront him. But that meeting rekindled all kinds of feelings between them. The question is : can Jill risk her heart again?
Reading this story was like reading half of a love story. Only the redemption and resolution part of a second chance romance. That could have been disastrous but to the author’s credit she made it work. In few words we got a glimpse of their early relationship when Jill was doing everything to support him and Adam was wasting away time and his life. I love Jill’s sassy and fiery attitude. This woman sure knows how to get a rockstar down on his knees. Adam is a rockstar. Just like that. Means he is moody, talented, charismatic and gorgeous. I really appreciate that he realized how much Jill means to him and did his best to turn his life and relationship around. It was a transformation. They have an amazing chemistry. But their connection got stronger with time and trial. Both of them learnt to compromise. I only want the full novel…from beginning to the end!
Love Song by Kylie Scott was a swoonworthy and sexy rockstar romance. It packed strong punches in a small package. And I am craving to know more about this sweet couple!
I reviewed an early copy voluntarily
