I really enjoyed this story of redemption. Drea is a reserved, try to keep to herself person. She has a dream but does she really have what it takes to fulfill that dream? And does she even feel she deserves to. Laz had it all, and lost it all. Can he redeem himself in his father’s and the world’s eyes? Laz is laser focused on bringing a female group to life. He is structured and has no time for dalliances or he could lose everything. Drea has nothing left to lose and despite her self esteem issues, is willing to do whatever it takes for her sister and her dream. A great romance with some nice steam and a satisfying HEA after some pretty hairy moments. I cried during some of the last chapters because they were truly emotional.
Part A Star is Born, part Dirty Dancing, Love S*x Music brings together two talented people with a troubled past in a story of self-discovery and redemption. Laz Rawlings was born into a world of wealth and musical talent, but he lost it all to a life of addiction. He and his best friend, Cam, are about to reclaim their former fame by using their talents to put together and manage a new band, making them stars. This time, they’re scouring the city in search of the most outstanding female performers to sing and dance their way to the top. Aundrea Newton’s life has been a series of uphill battles and loss. She works to keep her father clean, but the proof of drugs and drink are all over his house and he long ago gave up hope for his musical future. She and her step-sister, Candace, are in the right place at the right time when Laz goes in search of the talent. He watches them sing for just a short while before he realizes they are exactly who he’s been searching for. Drea has the beautiful voice and Candace, the moves, but he’s positive that he can mentor Drea himself to bring out her natural dancing abilities. With hard work and trust, Laz begins to uncover her talent and show her just what a natural she is. Drea gives him her complete trust and allows herself to start feeling for him as they move together. Laz had been warned to keep his hands off the talent, but it’s a little too late. That line has been crossed but he doesn’t fall. In a nice twist, Laz redeems himself by re-gaining the respect of the man who means the most to him…his father. In the end, Laz and Drea become symbols of hope and success. It’s a magnificent story and the narration by Meghan Kelly brings each of the characters to life in a clearly-defined way.
5 Star review of Love S*x Music by Michelle A Valentine
Wow, this book was such a fantastic listen. Meghan Kelly the narrator did a fabulous job. Not only was I riveted to the story but her narration had me hooked from the first chapter.
Ms. Kelly has a voice for each character and you are able to distinguish clearly which does not always happen when you are listening to an audio book.
What an absolutely passionate and intense story Love S*x Music is and Ms. Valentine had me captivated from start to finish.
This is a rock story with heart. The main characters have been broken and put back together and it was fantastic to see how they grew as characters throughout the story.
