If only we’d met at a different time, under different circumstances. A time when we could’ve jumped in his car and taken off without a care in the world other than what crappy motel we’d stop at next. But we didn’t.No matter how fast he drove, we hadn’t been able to outrun our pasts. And ever since our last night together, I dreamed about him. About Talon. The man with the dark, haunting eyes, the … haunting eyes, the gravelly voice. The man I gave my heart to.
Our love may have been rerouted…but it wasn’t over.
Fate gave us a second chance.

The Getaway Car by Leddy Harper was a really unique story. I was pulled in by the bright and pretty cover and intrigued by the blurb. I knew I’d have to read this. I enjoy Leddy Harper’s storytelling immensely. I feel like I started the book right into the action… just BAM, here it all is! I seriously loved it! There’s was no slow lead in, it was just unfolding as you walk in. I feel like I should mention that this book surprised me. I’m ok with flashbacks and memories but I don’t normally enjoy time jumps. I feel a bit too frazzled jumping all about. But Harper excels at her storytelling methods and this didn’t seem to faze me… yeah, I was surprised too!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
Omg this book was so ah-max-ing it’s my first book by a new arthur for me and I absolutely loved it. This book pulled me in from start to finish and I fell in love with the main characters Talon & Maggie. Was it fate that drew these 2 people together when they needed something to help with the predicament they found themselves in. I’d definitely recommend getting this if you haven’t already. I can’t wait to read what this arthur writes next.

When I first bought THE GETAWAY CAR by Leddy Harper, I did not start reading right away. When I decided to start reading, I was surprised to find the book LOVE REROUTED. At first I thought I had bought the wrong book, but came to find out Leddy Harper had changed the title. Same book just with a different title. What ever title the book is under, after finishing, I really enjoyed the story.
Talon McNeil and Maggie Abrams were meant to meet on one fateful night. When Talon took one look at Maggie’s bloodied face, he just knew he needed to save her. He was drowning in hopelessness and suffocating on isolation, because picking a girl up at a gas station and offering to drive her over a thousand miles away was downright reckless. They were strangers yet when Maggie’s anxiety had begun to build. The only time it didn’t affect her was when Talon was around. Could she really believe and depend he could save her.
They only really had two days together. But in that short amount of time, they connected on some level. It seemed to be on an intimate, personal level, except circumstances did not give them enough time to explore it. So they had something but not really sure what that something was. Since they first met, the first time he laid eyes on her, he had wanted to protect her and keep her safe. But then the unthinkable happened. She was gone. She’d stolen his car, his phone, and left him with nothing but a motel room and a nearly empty wallet. Her departure felt like a shotgun had gone off and obliterated his heart.
There are turns and twists in the story. Mystery and intrigue, and second chances. Surprises and more adventures in the getaway car. There must be some cosmic purpose for the two of them. They didn’t have a clue what that might be, but they would see it through till the end.
Leddy Harper has a wonderful and unique way in telling her stories that I love and The Getaway Car is a wonderful example of her craft.
This book pulls you right in to the midst of Maggie and Talon’s story and holds you captive on the edge of your seat while you ride out this emotional rollercoaster read. They are two lost souls that recognise something in each other, Maggie needs someone to protect her and Talon is more than ready to help. They have an unconventional meeting that typifies their story from the outset. Talon had me melting at their first encounter, he is firmly on my book botfriend list.
I loved the way this story was constructed and delivered in three parts that took us back to learn how this couple reached the point in their lives that put them on the journey together. The story keeps you in suspense as you turn the pages right till the end.
So as Maggie and Talon jump in his car to escape their lives we the readers are taken on a journey I didn’t expect of twist and turns, angst and emotion, trust and betrayal and a love story like no other. You will fall in love with these characters so much.
Well done Leddy on another fantastic read.
Holy Smokes! What an awesome book! Leddy Harper has done it again.
This is the story of Maggie and Talon. They meet in a gas station. Maggie is running from someone and Talon wants to help her. He offers to take her wherever she needs to go. His reason is he doesn’t have anything else to do. Their adventure begins. Right away there is sexual tension between them. But they both have their secrets. As the story goes on we learn more and more about them and what is really the reason they both are “getting away.”
I am not going to give any more details. From the first line the author gets the reader involved. So many questions will pop up and the reader will need the answers.
I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. Just when I thought I could take a break something happened and I had to keep reading. I highly recommend this book to anyone. This book has it all: drama, humor, romance, action, suspense, emotion… I loved these characters. And I hope we hear more from them.
Another fabulous book by Leddy Harper!! I loved Talon and Maggie’s story and the twists and turns that this book takes. This book was a roller coaster of emotions, I was happy and sad, wanted to choke Talon and Maggie at different times and maybe even cursed at the author once or twice. I can’t wait to see what this author has next for us. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.
“Maggie was like a shot of heroin – offering the promise of better things, yet full of lies.”
The Getway Car was my second book by Leddy Harper. Not only is the blurb pretty intriguing but I also fell in love with the cover. So I got curious what this is about. I got a ride I couldn’t have been prepared for, even if I tried.
“He truly was trying to save me, and as much as I wished he could, it would only ruin him in the end.”
Leddy has a great way of telling a story. You start the book and find yourself right in the middle of it all. No warnings or head-ups. You are just there and need to go with what is given. This way you live in a constant state of wondering as neither character gives away much about what really happened.
“If smiles had a sound, his would be my favorite song.”
As the story unfolds itself, you find that this book has different parts within the timeline. Usually I don’t like the timeline jumping, but here it is well dosed and gives the book the perfect pace. It keeps the suspense up until the very end and hands you just the right amount of information without revealing too much.
“From the first glimpse into her eyes, I knew she’d be my salvation.”
Maggie is somehow a lost soul obliviously looking for protection. She was broken by people who should have done nothing more than love her unconditionally. Her trust in Talon is kind of beautiful. Their connection is instantly on a trust level only souls who recognized each other can have.
“… he was hell-bent on making me suffer. While I needed the cure, he gave me the plague. And just when I didn’t think I’d survive, he offered me a vaccine.”
Talon is just great. I love his protector heart and it’s pretty obvious that as much as he wants to hate Maggie, he just can’t, because he loved her all along. Four years, after their first encounter he’d gone from the need to punish her, back to the hope to rescue her – from hating her to loving her – all in three days. Talon is simply a guy every girl could fall for – I certainly have.
“I was pissed that we’d wasted so much time apart. That the universe had f***ed with us, as if we’d been its personal entertainment.”
Maggie and Talon take us on two different road-trips, yet so similar. They take us on a road of self-discovery, on a journey to their hearts and their love. Their love story is unique and thrilling. A emotional roller-coaster, keeping your heart racing, wanting more. Thank you Leddy for this fantastic story!
“The universe wasn’t laughing at us. It had done this on purpose to remove the barriers that had kept us from having more.”

OMG! I loved this book. Never ending action, twists and turns and just enough sexy times. I absolutely loved Talon, who could ask for a better guy? Maggie, confused me for a bit, but I loved her just the same and came through in the end. I highly recommend this book.
