From Sarah M. Eden, the USA Today Bestselling author of the Longing for Home series, LOVE REMAINS is a new romance novel set in the beloved world of Hope Springs. For nearly a year, Tavish O’Connor has carried the crushing weight of his family’s future on his shoulders. He has taken on the care of his youngest brother, Finbarr, who lost his eyesight in a terrible accident. But the lad needs more … needs more than Tavish can provide. Finbarr needs hope.
Cecily Attwater specializes in hope. As a tutor to the newly blind, she has dedicated her life to helping others overcome the obstacles she herself has conquered. Her new assignment in a remote corner of Wyoming proves trickier than usual: Finbarr refuses to learn. To make matters worse, his family—and the other Irish townspeople—are less than thrilled to discover an Englishwoman in their haven.
Cecily’s only hope lies in securing the cooperation of her pupil’s brother Tavish, who happens to be her harshest critic and quite possibly the most frustrating man she’s ever known.
For Finbarr’s sake, Tavish and Cecily forge an uneasy alliance that, as the weeks pass, tiptoes toward something deeper than either dares admit or face, and toward a future they know to be impossible. There can be no hope of a happy outcome for an Irish man and an English woman amongst a people reeling from violence and centuries of hatred between their two homelands.

I had no idea Sarah Eden had continued the Hope Springs story with a third (and fourth!) book until my sister-in-law mentioned this one to me a few months ago. I was so glad to hear that Tavish got a book! I was a little sad for him after the second book. Tavish was just as delightful a character as I remembered from the first two books, but he had a lot more development in this book. He gained a lot of depth here. Cecily is a fantastic character. Though I didn’t connect with her personality the way I did Katie’s (from the first two books), I liked her very much. I loved the way she approached her work, her wit and dry humor, and the way she could read people and see things in them no one else seemed able to do. Finbarr is a good, kind of connecting character, and I like his development and the way he kind of becomes the peacemaker and reason so many in his family finally start their healing. I kept getting so frustrated [read: angry] with the O’Connor family and their behavior toward Englishwoman Cecily. It was such a hypocritical way to treat her that every time one of the O’Connors had any encounter with her, my blood was boiling. Sure, I’m a naíve American, who doesn’t personally understand the centuries of hate shared by these two countries. But I can’t condone poor treatment of another person just because of the country from which they hail. I’m so glad Granny Claire finally gave them all the talking to they deserved. (Speaking of Granny: I cried. That is all.) Man, I was starting to loose faith in the entire O’Connor clan, which made me sad because I liked them so much before. Thankfully they finally start to see some sense and, phew!, I didn’t end the book disliking them.
Note: Very clean. Nothing beyond very chaste (albeit passionate) kissing.
Tavish O’Connor has been carrying as much of the worries of his family as he can and is hopeful that the new tutor will help, at least where Finbarr is concerned. However, Cecily Attwater, an Englishwoman with her own worries, is not what he expects.
I loved Tavish in the previous books (even if I didn’t think he suited Katie at all). It was a delight to follow him through this book. His struggles and how much he tried to help his family was relatable. His teasing front hid a great deal of pain, and it was sweet to watch him finally heal.
Cecily was an interesting addition to Hope Springs. While at first, she seemed to be a straight-forward and no-nonsense character (and there can be no doubt she is all of that), she has a light-hearted side that comes out the more she spars with Tavish.
Together, they are a marvelous couple. The rest of the O’Connor family made an excellent supporting cast, and it was lovely to see them all again. The plot moves at a good pace and pulled me in from the first chapter.
I would absolutely recommend this to any reader looking for a sweet historical romance.
I’ve read this book twice and recently listened to the Audible version – and it’s just amazing. This books gets me every time. I giggle, I cry, I hate for it to come to an end. If you haven’t read it yet, what are you waiting for? It’s wonderful!
This was a very heartfelt book. I have no idea how many times I cried. The tragedy this family has faced and still more then get thrown at them is a lot. Cecily has a lot on her plate also then top on bad/horrible welcomes tops the cake. Tavish is part of the problem but is one of the first to change his tone as he get to know Cecily.
Oh I love this series. I am so glad Tavish and the rest of the family are doing better. It is silly to think of them as real people but that is what a good author does. This is the 3rd book in the Hope Springs series. I wouldn’t recommend reading this one till you have read the others. Sarah has a way of writing that pulls you in and make you care! I can’t believe I actually found myself crying over these characters. It was well done. This is a historical romance that has the story line that carries a great story and adds the sweetness and tension of a building romance around the story. It is PG with a couple of kisses.
LOVED it! Sarah M. Eden has a way of writing so beautifully that you feel for the character, happy when they are happy and sad when they are sad. I think I cried 5 times throughout this book. I will be honest, after book 2 I wasn’t happy that Katie picked Joseph. Now I’m finally ok with it because I love Tavish so much and he has been given all the love and happiness he deserves!
Love. Love. Love. Yes, I loved this one. Man, it had me bawling at times. I think what I really loved most about this book is that it had a lot of emotional depth to it. There’s a lot of characters in pain, and I really felt it. Their character arcs made sense and pulled me through the entire story.
It must be a good book if I’m desperate to get back to it when I put it down, and that’s how I felt reading this one. This may be among my favorite of Sarah M. Eden’s books.
I had never read a Sarah M. Eden book before this one, but now I’m hooked. I will be adding all her books to my already ridiculously long TBR list. Love Remains was amazing. The story and the characters were so well developed. I loved seeing the slow and subtle changes in their relationship. Tavish’s tenderness and teasing with Cecily made him an absolutely swoon worthy hero. The whole book was filled with depth and emotion and I loved it! Can’t wait to read more of her books.
I have been waiting for this book for three years. It was all that I had hoped and so much more! The book is full of emotion, and I felt the whole gamut along with the characters. Grief, sorrow, pain, anger, joy, happiness, laughter, and of course, love. It touched my heart in so many ways.
I love Tavish! He has endured so much and I was so excited to read his story and see him find love. He more than deserved it! He is so giving and selfless. He takes everyone’s struggles as his own and does everything he can and more to help. I love his ability to always find a smile and bring joy to others.
Cecily is incredible! She is strong and independent. I admired her passion to help others, and her joy when others succeeded was inspiring. I loved watching her open up to Tavish as she let him see her vulnerability. She and Tavish both needed someone who would see them completely, support them and love them. They did that for each other in such a complete way, and it was beautiful to watch!
I love the O’Connor family! They are so close and have a desire to support one another. They don’t always know how to do that or go about it the right way, but they try. They aren’t perfect, and that makes them real, but their love for each other is unquestionable.
It was wonderful to see that the progress the town made at the end of book two lasted. The Americans and Irish have set their differences aside. Unfortunately, they haven’t learned the complete lesson of acceptance, and Cecily pays the price. The Irish are so cruel to her. It was heart breaking to see them treat her in a manner they had complained about when it was directed towards them. Thankfully, they begin to learn.
I loved this book! I couldn’t put it down. Sarah Eden is one of my favorite authors, and this book just provides more evidence of why. I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series!
In the Hope Springs series, this is her very best book. Although, you really can’t go wrong with Sarah Eden.
A sweet romance by one of my favorite authors. The story opens with Tavish swearing off women… so it’s pretty obvious he needs a happily ever after.
Plenty of likeable characters with real problems to overcome.
Recommend for tween and up.
I love clean romance novels! This was a continuation of two other stories with a love triangle. Two good man in love with the same woman. This book tells what happened to the man who lost in the end. I enjoy this author and look forward to reading many more of her stories. I am wishing for more stories from Hope Springs. They have been delightful!
Beautiful story!
Love this author and she just keeps coming with original characters, great stories that could be real, funny, just all around perfect for me to enjoy and get to know! Look forward to each new one!
I loved this wonderful book!
Love Remains is easily my favorite of the series. No question. I read well into the night to finish it in one go. It was somewhat heart wrenching to watch the characters in their various trials but I still felt hope. I felt sad for Finbarr, that his life will never be the same after his heroic efforts in the previous book leaves him blinded with no hope of recovering his sight and yet there is hope for him to find joy in life. I felt sad for Cecily, that she can no longer see green or snow or the mountains or ocean. And yet, she can find happiness too. Tavish struggles to hold his family together and just about pulls himself apart doing it but there is the promise of joy for him as well. There is hope that people can overcome their long held prejudices. You’d think the O’Conner family would be less likely to hold prejudices based on their own experiences just shortly before this book begins but these lessons are hard learned.
I love all of Sarah Eden’s books but this series is far more difficult to read because it deals with much more serious matters. Even though it still ends in a happily ever after, there is so much more angst and in some cases even horror, getting to that HEA. And the HEA isn’t a fairy tale everything is great HEA. Each book still shows a hard life for its characters with no sense for an immediate fix to make life perfect. A fairy tale ending would have Finbarr regain his eyesight and find a way to stop Cecily’s eye disease from progressing. But that isn’t the case here. Their HEAs will still deal with being blind. But as I said before, we still get to feel hope that all will be well.
I enjoyed Tavish’s story and I’m so glad I got to see his charming self find love again. Still waiting for Finbarr to get his…
Another fantastic Sarah M Eden book! A clean romance with memorable characters and visual settings.
I absolutely loved this story! I loved the characters. There was heartache and healing. Learning to cope, learning to forgive and learning to love. A very sweet romance.
