My demons always follow me … hundreds, injuring more.
Including Hendrix.
He lingers in a coma for weeks before finally waking up.
When he does, nothing is the same.
When my father gets off on a technicality,
he comes after me in retaliation.
I can’t leave my past behind
no matter how far I try to run.
Nowhere is safe.
I’m a target at home and a target at school.
Will there ever be a time when I can just be safe and happy?
Or am I not allowed to have a happily ever after?

This was the perfect ending to this story . I saw the heroine do a lot of growth from the first 2 books until now. I look forward to reading the rest of the books.
Love & Redemption – J. A. Owenby – Book 3 of the Love & Ruin Series
Love & Redemption is the last book in the Love & Ruin series. If you have read books 1 and 2, you know how book 2 ended. Book 3 picks up with a bang! Which seems to be J.A. Owenby’s style, especially with this series. I expected nothing less.
Hendrix and Gemma are together again, Gemma testifies against her father and she and Hendrix are off to Baton Rouge where she will sing with Hendrix on stage. Yes, the crowd goes crazy before and after the song but maybe spending a hot day in Baton Rouge isn’t all it should be.
This time when tragedy strikes it hits Hendrix. Leaving Gemma, Mac and Franklin to deal with the outcome and give Hendrix all the help he needs to move forward.
Over time, with the help of family and time to recover Hendrix is back to his normal self and all seems to be going well. A new concert schedule is set and yet again, Gemma is thrown into turmoil with a sudden death. On top of that, we learn there are connections between Gemma’s family and Hendrix’s family and when that comes to light they must rally together to bring a positive outcome.
J. A. Owenby through this series has taken 8 people from no knowledge of each other to finally becoming one smaller close knit family. Yes, there are losses and lies revealed along the way but there is also regret lifted of the shoulders of several of her characters. The biggest thing that this story shows us is that love can guide the way through any kind of event, be it happy or sad. I was also really impressed through this series in the way Mac’s character was treated. People suffering from ADHD deal with a huge issues every single day. Mac’s family and close friends (even her boyfriends) learned what can set Mac off and how to redirect her when she needs redirecting. Although we know she was on medication at one time we know that she is not now and to have ADHD is not an easy kind of learning and life issue to deal with yet for the most part everyone pitches in to help support Mac and guide her when needed.
Although the series has come to an end with book 3, we are lucky in that 2 standalone books have followed this series. One about Mac and one about Pierce (aka Charles in book 3.
I can’t recommend J. A. Owenby enough!
If you expect a slow start to this book you are in for a surprise. This book starts with a twist of events and keeps going from there. Just when you think everything is going well another event brings destruction or dispair. There are plenty of romantic parts, true love, and redemption among all the twists and turns. As the last book in the trilogy there is a happy ever after in the best possible unexpected way.
Another great book by J.A. Owenby.
The final book in this riveting trilogy does not disappoint! Just when you think Gemma and Hendrix are on the road to a drama-free HEA … think again. Surprises abound and the angst is high, and I loved every unpredictable minute of this exciting story. Gemma kicks a$$ as we see her continue to grow and own her new life. Hendrix is still the swooniest hero ever. And Mac … I love her to pieces.
If you haven’t read this wild ride of a trilogy, carve out some time this weekend and binge read! Make sure to have tissues and chocolate handy.
