A blend of the class warfare and playboy romance tropes, Lover over Lattes is a cute, sexy contemporary romance.
I’ve been in a bit of a book slump lately but reading Love Over Lattes has kicked my slump into the kerb! I devoured every word in less than a day. What a fabulous, twisting, turning, swoony, nail-biting story this is!
The beginning had my attention when Valentina (what a beautiful name!) sees Cole every day in the coffee shop. Never speaking bu oh, the wishes she had. Once these two speak… MONTHS later! The sparks just fly off the pages and whizz around the room. Neither can stop what happens but boy does Valentina try to be strong a resist. I love their characters and could feel all of their emotions as if they were my feelings; the hurt, the love and joy; as well as the confusion when things start to get mixed up. People are out to mess up their lives and this is where the plot gets really interesting. I was totally there with them.
I can’t wait to read more about these two in the next book.
I loved this story!
It pulled me in from the start and wouldn’t let me go! It was full of mystery, suspense, intrigue, emotions, and smoking hot chemistry! I loved the interactions between Derek and Valentina! They were great together!
Love Over Lattes was a fantastic first book in the Desert Monsoon series! I can’t wait for book 2!
While I liked this book I admit I had complex feelings about it. In my opinion there was some good and some bad things here. I did basically like the story, the characters and the chemistry of the featured couple. However, I also felt that the author dropped the ball many times along the way. Certain big issues of Cole’s are never addressed and there are some big red flags that considering Valentina’s history are totally ignored. This greatly lessened not only my enjoyment of this book but my belief in this couple going the long haul. Still the bare bones were good. This is my candid review that I am posting of my own accord.
I loved Love Over Lattes so much. This is the beginning of Derek Cole’s and Valentina’s story. You can catch them in their sequel Unravel You and find out what happens between the two of them. Trust me you are going to want to read that one. I love Derek and Valentina so much. They are each others other half. The chemistry is just so strong between them you can’t help but to drawn to the two of them. I love how caring Derek is with Valentina’s son Max from the very beginning. That alone will make you swoon for Derek. They may have a few up and downs in this one but you understand why when you read this one. It is such an amazing read that you will want to pick up that sequel to get more Valentina and Derek.
Wow, I haven’t laughed so much in one book. I really enjoyed this book.
I loved Valentina and Derek together, they may of been strangers in beginning but they learnt about each other and grew.
Who knew a cafe shop and breaking down helps find your true love.
I can’t wait for more.
3.5 stars
Love Over Lattes was an alright story. Cole is a bad place in his life, and the highlight of his day is going to the coffee house and seeing that dark haired beauty. Valentina is a single mom, who’s just finished college, she receives bad news when the good lucking guy she’s seen at the coffee house offers to help her. Weary but desperate she takes him up on the offer. They both have trust issues, but they have this connection towards eachother. Her son Max is a funny little one. This was a new author to me, and I’m glad I took the chance to read her story.
Valentina is almost ready to graduate from college and making a home for her son and herself. For the past several months she has come to the same coffee shop to watch the hot “Quad Americano” who comes in after his workout. Colt has secretly been watching Valentina when he comes to the coffee shop but has sworn not to bring her into his life until he finds her crying over her lost apartment. Without thinking he offers her his cottage to rent. Will they find love or will their pasts destroy their chance?
This was my first Diana A Hicks read and I have to say I am hooked. Valentina is a strong, determined woman who wants to make her own way. Colt is mired in his own misery but is trying to find his way back to happiness. Loved all the characters and think Annie and Dom were great too. The author did a great job of letting us into Valentina and Colt’s minds. Looking forward to reading more.
3.5, but not enough to bump to 4. Diana Hicks is a new author to me. Her writing style is good, there were more than the average dropped words within sentences, but I blame that more on editing. It wasn’t enough to interfere with the story and was only slightly annoying. That being said, the storyline was interesting and entertaining. There were no real surprises and everything was laid out a bit too neatly for me, but it was still entertaining. Cole and Valentina are two extremely distrustful people, with good reason. However, they are not over-the-top distrustful. I guess I’d describe them as optimistically pessimistic. All in all, I enjoyed Love Over Lattes but it won’t go on my Favorites or Recommend shelves. I would say it was a good read for anyone who asked me specifically about the book though.
I knew I had to read this when I read the blurb. Single parent, the elixir of life better known as coffee, and the potential of sweep me off my feet romance. Yes please! I was hooked just from the blurb, and still I was surprised by how much I truly enjoyed Love and Lattes! It’s just that good. It’s sweet, it’s deliciously steamy, and it’s packed with that make your heart melt bring a tear to your eye romance that I crave but still has just the right amount of drama to keep the story extra interesting.
Cole is the kind of hero I always love. He’s been burned, yet he can’t help the pull he has towards Valentina and goes out of his way to show her the man he really is. It was adorable watching them both fall hard and fast for each other. Valentina was fiercely independent but still kept a softness and innocence that made her real and relatable. When these two finally do come together be ready to break out then fan because they’re quickly putting out enough heat to start a fire!
I absolutely loved Love Over Lattes! It was such a great story that had me swooning over Cole. Valentina and Cole were an amazingly sweet couple, add in her son Max and they all three clicked together. Love Over Lattes was incredibly sweet and had me rooting for Valentina. She’s such a strong character. Single mom, working hard to finish college and get a place for her and her son. She’s super independent and smart. Valentina works hard for her son and plays even harder. Their relationship was such a sweet one and Max is a doll. Cole is hot. He knows what he wants and goes after it with a single minded focus. He’s been burned bad, and we see how bad it gets, but he persevered through it and came out a winner with Valentina and Max.
This is a perfect pick me up read for when you are feeling a little down. This could be a hit movie, it’s so good! The writing style was perfect. The banter between Valentina and Cole was sweet. The chemistry from the get go was hot. This is a perfect romance with a few curve balls thrown in!
Love is a many splendored thing, except when it leaves you battered and bruised. Love over Lattes is a look at a crazy little thing called love. Valentina and Cole have been sucker punched by love, yet still yearn for it. Diana Hicks let’s readers into the psyche of a broken heart and the wonder of a second chance, through the eyes of friendship. Hope is the beginning of faith and maybe a pathway to healing and moving on. With Love over Lattes, Ms. Hicks is on her way to cementing her mark in romantic fiction. Loved It!
