Being a Winter Olympics skiing fanatic, I was super excited to read Love on the Slopes! This sweet romance brings together former womanizer and bad-boy on the sloped, Ryland and up and coming medal hopeful Brynn, who definitely isn’t a fan of his. After all, he mislead their fellow teammates about their “encounter” years before…that’s going to make any girl a bit miffed!
But the head coach thinks Ray, who’s getting over a potentially career-ending injury, can help Brynn find her confidence on skis again and shake the mental block she’s dealing with. Brynn’s issues are a little more complex than anyone knows; she’s dealing with a family issue that could rip her world apart.
As they get to really know one another, their relationship grows first into a friendship that helps bring them both a sense of peace. Deeper feelings, though, may not be something either can handle.
Easy to read, this sports romance is set apart not not by the sport itself (not many skiing romances out there), but also by the beautiful story woven by Melissa McClone. While part of the One Night to Forever series, each book is a stand-alone. But definitely read each one!
Professional skier Ry wasn’t a very likeable character at the beginning of the book. He only thought of himself and used women as he tried to do with Brynn. He also ruined her reputation when he lied about sleeping with her. Getting injured and almost dying from overdosing caused him to change his life. But he’s still focused on going back to the Olympics and winning a medal. He feels like he can’t afford to have any distractions including women in his life. Brynn is distracted when she is told that the man she thought was her father is not after he insults her and throws her out of his house. She’s been distracted for months about this and her skiing has been affected by it. Ry is asked to help her get her focus back. She can’t stand him after what he did six years ago and she wants to refuse his help, but she knows he’s her only chance at staying on the team. There was plenty of humor, ups and downs with injuries and relationships, and romance in this story. I loved Brynn’s brothers Jax and Ace and hope they get romances in future books. I could see the possibilities with Sam and Lia despite the age differences.
I was completely immersed in all that was happening in this sweet and heartwarming sports romance with unforgettable characters, family drama, secrets revealed, forgiveness, second chances and so much more. I really liked the chemistry and emotional romance between competitive skiers Brynn Windham. a strong, beautiful and sexy woman, and Ryland Guyer, heir to his family’s sportswear company and injured skier. Ms. McClone has given us another winner with book four of her must-read One Night to Forever series and I can hardly wait to read book five. I received an advance reader copy of Love on the Slopes and this is my voluntary and unbiased review. I liked it so much, I purchased a copy to read again later.
Love on the Slopes by Melissa McClone.
Brynn Windham and Ryland Guyer are the main characters. They are both competitive skiers for the us ski team. They help each other to get better at skiing and in the process they fall in love and fight it because they are afraid that it will keep them from achieving their goals of gold medals. There are definitely up and downs in this book but it is a very well written book. This was a very good book totally recommend to anyone looking for a good book.
I totally enjoyed reading Brynn and Ryland’s emotional story in Love on the Slope, a heartwarming, sweet romance by Melissa McClone, book four in her One Night to Forever series. Brynn has loss focus and could lose her spot of the US Ski Team after learning a family secret. While recovering from an injury, sportswear heir Ryland agrees to his coach’s request to help Brynn save her season and regain her competitive edge. The problem, Brynn refuses to talk to him after he accidently ruined her reputation five years ago; which means Brynn has no one to confide in. Spending time together, Brynn realizes that Ryland is a changed man, no longer the partier, and that he actually gives her some ideas to re-focus while she competes. Old feelings of her crush on Ryland return and bring about additional ones, stronger than just a crush as Brynn focuses on her future.
Brynn was dealt a difficult hand. As the youngest and only girl she was never able to meet her father’s expectations. When a family secret is revealed, things begin to make sense; but keeping it a secret was really too much a burden for Brynn to bear alone. I’m glad Brynn finally trusted and felt safe enough to share the truth with Ryland. I also loved the fact that Ryland cared enough about Brynn to give her options in case she loses her spot on the team. The future is a difficult and challenging path for both Brynn and Ryland, but before they can start they need to find forgiveness for those who hurt them and for themselves.
Ms. McClone wrote a wonderfully sweet and moving story that is not to be missed. This story contains fun dialogue, endearing and likeable characters and the magic of love. I highly recommend Love on the Slopes to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Olympic hopefuls with a second chance for romance–will they be overcome obstacles to find love while skiing for dreams? Great sports romance!
Brynn has such heartache from her parents and Ryland. Her parents and especially her mom believe it or not, made me so aggravated. I didn’t really care for Ryland at first but the author did a great job of showing us how much he had truly changed before he ran into Brynn again. Don’t like when a person changes for another person. The story was about family, going for the gold, forgiveness, reconciliation, and new relationships. I was experiencing all kinds of emotions but the ending left me with a smile on my face.
GOLD MEDAL!! I love this series because each story is different. This is my favorite so far!! Two skiers on the USA national ski team who realize that winning the gold is not their most important goal when love shows up. Ryland and Brynn are perfect together! Exciting, heartfelt, romantic and sweet. My favorite part what the skiing competition and the friendships within the ski team. It was awesome and engaging!
Wonderful story of second chances, redeeming love and forgiveness. It takes guts and gumption to put past hurts behind and look to a future of love, and that is what Brynn and Ryland were able to do. A heartwarming and, at times, heart wrenching, story that kept me guessing.
Love On The Slopes is a sweet
& charming book. I really enjoyed
reading it. It’s a touching & emotional
story. After a hugh misunderstanding,
Brynn has avoided “Ry-Guy”.
Now Ry has been asked to help her.
The past year, Brynn’s been unfocused.
She has been carrying a big secret,
that can effect a lot of people.
As they spend time together, Brynn,
see’s that Ry, isn’t the same jerk
he was six years ago. And he see’s
how truly special she really is.
It will pull at all your heartstrings.
What a beautiful story that shows the strength of two characters who overcome heartache and injuries to become stronger and find love and hope in each other. This story touched my emotions. I felt happy, sad, and anger towards Brynn’s parents and what they put her through. Then I felt the same for what Ryland had put her through too. The depth of the characters made them seem so realistic. I loved the epilogue. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Letting go of the past means taking control of the future. How is that possible when the past you’re trying to forget refuses to allow you to move on? To err is human. To forgive is hard. Love on the Slopes is about learning to forgive. McClone speeds full – throttle into the pain of heartache and the power of forgiveness. Brynn and Ryland have history. Each thought they had moved on, but their heart’s had other plans. Their path is a journey that blends sweet and sour. Can they turn bitterness into a forever kind of love?
Love on the Slopes is a well-written, contemporary, sweet, sports romance. Ryder and Brynn were interesting characters. To start with, Ryder was a fairly despicable person with drunk hook-ups being his norm. After a serious accident, he turned his life around. I have a hard time liking a character who lived like he did; and he changed because of his desire to ski competitively again, not because it was the right way to live. With that said, he did become a caring, thoughtful partner for Brynn. The book moved at a good pace with the majority of the setting being a ski slope area. There is a very emotionally satisfying HEA. I would recommend this to sweet romance readers. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion.
