He thought his life was perfect, and then she walked into the office
Former TOPGUN pilot Clint Davenport is the newly-crowned prince of public radio now that he’s hosting America’s most popular drive-time show. The ladies can’t get enough of this Flying Ace, but he’s all out of runway for the fairer sex because of a tragedy that haunts him. But life is perfect, or at least that’s what he keeps … life is perfect, or at least that’s what he keeps saying. Until he finds himself on the ropes (literally) at a company retreat and the only person who can bring him in for a safe landing is his office frenemy, who seems as comfortable in a climbing harness as he used to be in an F-18.
Erin Hung was twenty-eight and still living with her parents in Honolulu, so when her favorite cousin invited her to move to glittering Los Angeles, she made the leap. After four years, this late bloomer has blossomed. She owns her own condo in gorgeous Pasadena, has the love of a good male—her Shiba Inu, Atticus—and is the badass marketing manager for America’s #1 radio show. But she still has a lot to prove and is gunning for a promotion. She doesn’t have time for distractions, especially romantic ones…and there’s no way she’s interested in that cocky ex-fighter pilot who just got tapped as host. Unfortunately, working with Mr. Cockpit Cockypants is the only way to get her raise.
When work forces them together, it seems like the beginning of a new Cold War, or maybe Clint’s high-flying charm is just what Erin needs to see there’s more to life than just work.

Love on the Ropes by Aviva Vaughn is great read. Romantic, hot, sweet, all the best things rolled into one fantastic read. Erin & Clint are amazing characters. She has become a strong empowered woman, knows what she wants and what she has to do to earn it and keep it. And that means no romantic entanglements. Clint is the strong yet tortured leading man. The kind that so many women are drawn to and yearn to help! They are thrown together during a work retreat and well, they do what comes naturally in this type of situation.
Erin, Clint and company are well developed characters. You get to glimpse into their thoughts and why they do what they do. I found myself rooting for them.
It’s a fast paced novel, and I did not want to put it down. Steamy, funny, a bit of drama, kept me rooting for them the entire time.
Ms Vaughn is an excellent author and knows how to pull you into a story from the very beginning. I was sorry when I finished the book. I truly did not want it to end.
If you love romance, sexual tension, fully fleshed (no pun intended) characters then you will thoroughly enjoy this book!
Love on the Ropes is a super cute slow burn co-worker frenemy rom-com. This was as enjoyable as Aviva Vaughn’s last series. Clint Davenport and Erin Hung work for the same morning drive-time radio show Wake Up America “Woo-Ah”. Clint and Erin’s relationship was a little rocky in the beginning with her friendship with Fern and Clint with his awkward nervous talk.
But the laughs are what made their story lovable from the bantering to the random names instead of curse words. But it Avia’s attention to details that makes me feel like I’m right there in the book with her characters. I can’t wait for more of Clint and Erin and to see other co-workers (Fern Haddad)from this series find their HEA.
5/5 Stars
Love on the Ropes : diverse, slow burn, frenemies to lovers, office rom com (Love in Action #1) by Aviva Vaughn
This is the first read by Vaughn and I’ve got to say wowzers. This was a fantastic read and I really can’t wait for more. Vaughn has a certain way of transporting you into the book.
Erin, originally from Hawaii, is now living in Cali. Working at a radio station is the best she has had. She loves her job and she’s also crushing on her boss. The quote I chose for Erin is: “Thank you for the dance.”
Clint, a former TopGun fighter, is now the host for a radio show. He loves what he does and loves the fact that Erin works there as well. He finds himself falling and isn’t sure what to do. The quote I chose for Clint is: “Do I get to keep my arm around you if we try that?”
Highly recommended for romance lovers. Especially ones where frenemies turn lovers.
Love in the Ropes by Aviva Vaughn is the first book in the Love in Action series. This is a fun and lighthearted book that is entertaining and from start to finish.
Having only read the Beckoned series by this author it was great to read something that had an entirely different feel to it and showcased this authors talent in a new way. I thought the book was a great story with some highly entertaining characters. They had such a great chemistry between them even if they didn’t like each other to start off with.
The whole book is well written and I found it really easy to get into. This is another great book by this author and I am looking forward to what comes next.
Love on the ropes is a sweet romantic novel, with plenty of flirtatious banter and sexual tension as Erin and Clint learn to let their guards down and find the strength to truly be with one another. Erin was a sweet character to read, feeling realistic as she wrestled with her own feelings of self-worth and strove to be the confident and self-assured woman that she is. Clint got better as the story went on, at the beginning his character felt a little one dimensional but as the story progressed and we learnt more about him, I begrudgingly came to appreciate him. In fact, quite a lot of things got better as the story progressed, for instance, the pacing and the flow of the writing, just seemed to settle more and find its voice. This is my opinion though and others that read this may find that it was fine all the way through.
Vaughn writes both characters with a sort of light-hearted chattiness that is easy to read and at times quite amusing. My only issue with this is that both the characters mannerisms and little idiosyncrasies seem far too similar, while you can tell who you are reading, based on their descriptions etc… this similarity between them can take you out of the story a little. Perhaps this was intentional to show how the characters are on the same wavelength even when they feel they can’t be together, but I just found it a little strange.
In terms of romance, Vaughn knows her craft well, orchestrating steamy scenarios that sizzle on the page, the reader doesn’t have wait too long for sexually charged shenanigans and flirtatious fights that are so fiery they quite literally singe off your eyebrows. Vaughn always allows each character to voice their thoughts extensively, leaving the reader in no doubt of their thoughts, feelings and intentions. Their inner dialogues and thought processes can be quite amusing and I did find myself having the odd chuckle or two. I did find that some of the jokes were repeated a little too frequently, but I’m being nit-picky here and it’s just my personal opinion.
Still, for anyone who is after a nice sweet romance full of sexual tension to take to bed, bath or beyond then this is for you. The characters are amusing and likeable and their interactions are enjoyable to read. There are echoes of fifty shades to this in the way it is written, only a much tamer version that focuses more on the fluffy elements of a relationship, however, fans of E.L James’ writing style will definitely like this. I would recommend this to anyone who is after a good sexually charged read that doesn’t skimp on the feels, in both Vaughn delivers in spades.
Clint is a Rhodes scholar, former Top Gun pilot and a radio host now, Erin is a marketing manager for the same radio.
They are attracted to each other but their work takes all their time, keeping them away from each other, they have only one goal: to succeed in their daily job.
They can’t be distracted by romantic feelings and hot sexy thoughts.
During a team building retreat they keep getting closer and closer, they can’t deny each other the pleasure to know each other better.
Will they find the right balance between work and private life? Or will they condemn themselves to a workaholic lonely life?
Speaking of a slow burn and a couple of cautious and indecisive characters you’ll instantly think of this book.
Love On The Ropes still was a nice and enjoyable read, with a lot of funny scenes that put a smile on my face.
I kept reading it and chapter after chapter I understood that Erin and Clint have their reasons for acting that way, I couldn’t stop smiling and be happy for them in the end.
This is my first book by this author. Its a romance comedy that had me hooked from the start I didn’t put it down until I read the final page. Its a very enjoyable book I love both characters and how they connected with each other. Well worth a read.
So I have not read the Beckoned series before this and just like it says it is a standalone you don’t feel like you miss anything from not reading the original series which I love because there’s a few times where I’ve read standalone and been completely clueless because of what happened in the previous book/serious.
I love the frenemies to lovers trope it is one of my favourites mainly because I always love the banter between the two characters, Erin and Clint did not disappoint they gave me some banter worthy scenes and I loved it!
I really like Clint he is hilarious especially with his internal monologue for himself, the fact he knows he teases and annoys Erin and recognises that he still wants her, like the kind of get in that bedroom wanting you and I like that he doesn’t hide it all that way. He’s very charming and charismatic, although not all that great about expressing those feelings he has.
Erin I’m on the fence of how I feel about her, I like her character but she’s also kind of annoying at the same time, strangely. Although once Clint starts opening up to her I like her a little bit more she doesn’t seem so judgy. So other than the judgyness of her I really like her character.
Although we stan Fern! I love him! He’s super supportive!
I like how much we go into the climbing scene this book teaching me things I didn’t even know, although that scene kind of gave me chills between CLint and Erin. The sexual tension between these characters, honestly the tension comes pouring off the page. The fact they both want each other but really don’t say it at the beginning makes me really frustrated I just want them to talk to each other and be honest how they feel. Damn the drama that happened in this book the cabin and the woods (I have to admit reminds me of a certain horror movie that did the cabin in the woods, not the actual thing that happened but the name).
I really enjoyed this story and the plot of the story, I will definitely be interested in reading some more of this author’s work, it was a really cute enjoyable read! I liked the characters and the story kept me reading!
Love On The ropes is a fab book. It gets you hooked from the start and keeps you wanting to read. I found myself picking my kindle up at every opportunity. The main characters really engage you and keep you enthralled in the storyline. The storyline is a slow burner but don’t let that put you off, this is in no way a slow paced book.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book and I will look out for more by Aviva Vaughn.
It’s always fun to try out new authors. To stumble onto gems that make reading enjoyable. Love On The Ropes was definitely one of those. The first book in her Love In Action series, this book starts the series off right. So sit back, strap in, and hang on for a great ride.
Both Clint Davenport and Erin Hung are living their dream jobs. But with success comes sacrifice. And for these two career-driven individuals, this means no distractions. So when at a company retreat, Erin saves Clint from a messy situation they both realize that distractions aren’t avoidable. Combining angst, humor, and great chemistry between the two lead characters, the story hits a believable note that leaves you thoroughly entertained. This book isn’t instantaneous love. It’s a slow build that allows the reader to get to know and fall in love with the characters. If you’re looking for a fun, easy read, Ms. Vaughn provides that and more.
Love on the Ropes by Aviva Vaughn is book 1 in the Love in Action Series. I found it to be a very easy fast paced read. Emily is a knowledgeable and sexy marketing manager for a top of the charts radio station. New-ish to Pasadena, after leaving the security of her parents’ home at a later age than usual; in her twenties, Emily isn’t looking for love. She’s too busy working towards a promotion. Clint Davenport is one of the radio stations jockeys who is happy in his life, with a past full of his own demons. When Clint and Emily are forced to work closer together, they learn things about each other and themselves they didn’t already know and find themselves having to battle an attraction neither of them wants to feel. This was a fun romantic read I give 4 stars and highly recommend! This story has very minimal offensive language and steamy scenes, however there is a bit!
Love On The Ropes is the first book in the Love In Action series by Aviva Vaughn. I’ve read a few books by this author before and have thoroughly enjoyed them so I had high hopes for this one. Thankfully, this is a great book and I thoroughly enjoyed this one too.
28 year old Erin Hung moved to LA from Hawaii 4 years previously and is loving her job doing marketing for a major radio station’s breakfast show. Her life changes when the show gets a new host. Clint Davenport is a former Topgun pilot and is now the host of the show. On an activity week organised by the radio station the two are pushed close together and both realise that there could be something between them.
I totally loved both of these characters. Erin has no fears when it comes to the activities but has many when it comes to her heart and her personal life. Clint comes across as the perfect man with no fears but actually has a lot going on that he keeps to himself.
The story is very easy to read and flows well, it has great characters and the plot is good which keeps the reader engaged and want to keep reading to see what that author has planned for Clint and Erin.
Definitely recommend.
Love on the Ropes: diverse, slow burn, frenemies to lovers, office rom com (Love in Action Book 1) by Aviva Vaughn is a delightful story. Aviva has done a great job with the characters. They will keep you entertained with their shenanigans and frenemies attitude towards one another. The characters feel real and blemished and Aviva could not have done a better job at bringing them to life. Watching them fight every step of the way is fun and enjoyable. Love on the Ropes is a wonderful start to the series, and I can’t wait to see what Aviva gives us next.
4 out of 5 stars
Love on the Ropes is the first book I have read by this author and I was not left disappointed.
I loved how Erin and Clint had sexual tension straight away and with their banter and frenemie style loathing for each other it made it a very humerous and addictive read, I could not put it down I read it in one night.
Clint thinks his life could not get anymore perfect until Erin, (who is still trying to discover who she is as a women) walks into the office and changes everything and all that they thought they knew and wanted comes to a hault. With some serious sexual chemistry and witty banter between the two you will be left wanting more and more.
The started out slow and we are introduced to many characters. I loved the action at the camp between these two. It showed how sexy they could be together if they went that way. Clint seems VERY into her. I liked that. Once the story gets back to civilization it seemed to focus a lot on the jobs they both have and the romance seems to take a back seat.
Overall I enjoyed the story and read it fairly quickly. I really didn’t see any of the frenemies action or the cockiness from Clint that I was expecting. Clint seems very down to earth and kind. No showboating from him at all. I see the next in the series is about Patrick(who we haven’t met…only heard about). We will see where that takes us.
This book was so good! Erin and Clint are coworkers who dislike each other. Erin doesn’t like him because he’s overly pompous and way too cocky for her liking. And Clint finds her ridiculously attractive but because she doesn’t like him, he doesn’t like her. As they’re put into different work situations, they become closer and realise maybe there’s a misunderstanding between the two.
I absolutely loved this! I love the two separate and together! I just felt like I related to the main character so much because she was trying to prove herself and struggled with a lot internally and it didn’t seem like a plot device unlike some other books. I really liked Clint from the start although he was very self involved, he got better as time went on and I found his radio persona intriguing!
I really want to read more works by this author now! Work romances + hate to love = a very happy me! And especially when the authors writing is so witty and the character’s have such a great banterous relationship!
This story follows Clint, and ex fighter pilot turned radio host, and Erin, a marketing manager. This was the best book! Seriously, a fighter pilot from Top Gun? Yes please!! Clint has had his eyes on Erin ever since she started, but Erin is more focused on getting a promotion. The sparks fly every time they are near each other, so why fight it? This book pulls out all the feels and then some. Great romance story with some laughs too.

Love on the Ropes was a really nice and enjoyable romantic read by an author I absolutely adore. I’m not sure it’s my favourite book from Ms Vaughn but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved Erin and Clint, they had a great banter between them (albeit they hated each other) and a nice amount of chemistry. I liked Erin from the very start, she was such a relatable character and I really enjoyed getting to know her from the start. Clint made me work a bit harder to get to know him but I liked that, his character developed nicely over the story.
Overall I really enjoyed the story and as always I look forward to reading more from Ms Vaughn in the future!
This was such an entertaining book! Erin & Clint had me laughing the entire time. I loved how both Erin & Clint were so strong! Watching these two figure out how to handle their feelings & trying to figure out how the other was feeling kept me glued to my chair. The chemistry throughout the book was so crazy & the secondary characters were amazing! LOVED THE BOOK!!

Love On the Ropes is the first book in the new Love in Action series by Aviva Vaughn. This book is a slow-burn, contemporary office romcom that’s set within the unpredictable world of radio.
I love Ms. Vaughn’s previous work, so there was no question that I would be reading this book. So, I happily one-clicked and jumped right in.
I loved meeting Clint and Erin and enjoyed the ‘frenemies’ dynamic between the two. Clint being a former Top Gun pilot, turned popular radio host really gave this story an extra element of intrigue. Then add Erin to the mix- and the story ignited.
This is a fantastic start to a new series- and I can’t wait to see where we go from here!
Thank you, Aviva Vaughn!
