“Whenever love is on the line, we’ll always choose us.” It was an easy promise for Matt and Mikaela Grayken to make. After all, Matt fell in love with Mikaela the first time he saw her across a room, serving her cancer patients. Mikaela crossed an ocean to find Matt’s birth sister Kate, whose stem cells could save his life. That’s the kind of love they share. In their quest to defy the limits of … defy the limits of Matt’s health and return a bit of the good they’ve known, they embrace grand, miraculous opportunities. But these opportunities bring new stress that threatens Matt’s health while also entwining the Graykens in the lives of complicated people who will challenge their bond, putting to test the promise they made, to choose each other when love is on the line.
Love on the Line, Great Expectations Love Stories: The Graykens, Book Two, is the highly anticipated sequel to Love on a Limb.

I loved this book! There were tender moments that actually brought tears to my eyes and many humorous ones that brought a smile to my face. Matt and Mikaela are very human characters with great strengths, but also with some failings. There are so very many scenes that I’d love to share, but I don’t want to give out spoilers. I can add that I adored the close family ties on Mikaela’s side and the staunch friendships on Matt’s side. Both provided some of those humorous moments. There’s a great deal of wisdom shown in this story about how to live life to its fullest. Favorite quote, “When love is on the line, I’ll always choose us.” I strongly recommend Love on the Line. I hope to read many more of Laurie Lewis’s stories. I got my copy through KU.

“Don’t let your happiness depend on the amount of time you have but on the quality of the love you give.”
Love on the Line is the brilliant sequel to Love on a Limb by Laurie L.C. Lewis. It is a continuation of Matt and Mikaela’s story, so you really should read the first book before starting on this one, as there is a LOT of important information and plot elements contained in that story that will help you better understand and appreciate this story.
The first book made such an impression on me that there was no question about one-clicking this book and diving right in. As with the first book, this dealing with a major health crisis, regrets, coming to terms with one’s mortality, love, hope, faith, emotion, humour, and so much more. This story brought me to tears more than once- and I’m talking the sobbing, can’t-see-the-words-because-the-tears-won’t-stop, kind of crying. I was/am so invested in these characters, their story touched me, and I was rooting for them the whole way through- praying for a miracle. That’s how ‘real’ these characters became to me. And that’s a sure sign of a gifted author.
This story seemed to be a little ‘grittier, and more emotionally ‘raw’ (for me) than the first book- and I didn’t think that would be possible, because that first book really tugged at my heartstrings. As with the first book, the subject matter is devastating- cancer isn’t a light and fluffy subject- and there is no sugar-coating it here. Ms. Lewis gives us a brutally honest account of what our character/s go through. But, the harsh reality of their journey is shown with respect and plenty of compassion.
As with the first book, this story slayed me! I was so invested in it, I have a bit of a book hang-over now it’s finished, but I would turn around and do it all over again because this story is quite special, and touched me in quite unexpected ways.
I really recommend this story to anyone who loves a wonderful story that will stay with you long after you read the final words.
I look forward to Ms. Lewis’ next book!
Thank you, Ms. Lewis!
Love on the Line; Great Expectations Love Stories: (The Graykens, Book Two) by Laurie L.C. Lewis is an exquisitely amazing romance story. It is filled with lots of emotion that will not only break your heart but will also make you smile. Laurie’s storytelling is wonderful and instills you with so many emotions. I feel like I was right there with the characters as they struggle with having to deal with life and death and the effects on them and their relationships. As with the first book, this beautiful story reached into my heart and won’t be leaving me any time soon. These wonderful characters made my heart bleed for them as they fought side by side with the harrowing effects of AML. The love they had for each other, the love of their family and especially their friends was inspirational and I loved each and every one of them. The strength, hope and faith these characters have will see you crying and laughing along in this battle of life. I am glad Laure wrote this sequel as I felt there was so much more left in the story and I was right. Well done Laurie!
I highly recommend this raw and amazing story to anyone and everyone and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed and you will not be left untouched.
Love on the Line (Great Expectations Love Stories: The Graykens Book 2) by Laurie Lewis was a sweet, emotional read, that complimented the first book quite well.
The second book in this original heart punching series, and I will tell you that the hard feels has carried over, and man oh man, I didn’t think I would be raked over the coles again. Laurie Lewis sure has a way with words and making me want to cry every three seconds. I will say that this book pretty much picks up wheres the last left off, though it reads well, and could be read as a standalone, I do highly suggest reading the first book, or you won’t get the full impact of their complex relationship.
As this is the second book, I’m not going to tell you anything, but I will tell you that, I fell easy into this read. I was hooked and could not put this book down. My only quirm, was that, the ending felt rushed a little bit. I don’t know if it was done to keep the word count down, or if it was done like that, to keep us readers guessing and wanting more. But I need book three, so those loss ends can be tidied up.
Overall this book is a sweet, raw emotional read, that will rip your hearts strings to pieces. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will need tissues close by.
Happy Reading

I fell in love with Matt and Mikaela’s story in Love on a Limb. I was a little apprehensive when I heard there would be a part two. This book surpassed my expectations. Matt originally married Mikaela for convenience. She was to be his voice while he died of cancer. Unexpectedly falling in love with each other, Mikaela gave him something to fight for. This book is about his fight to stay alive and that you must believe in miracles, especially during the darkest days.
“Don’t let your happiness depend on the amount of time you have but on the quality of the love you give.”
This was a hard lesson for Matt to learn. He kept reliving his past mistakes and regretting a future that he would never see. He was missing everything in his present. Once he accepted his present, his fight became easier mentally. Everything is mind over matter. You need to have a good outlook if you want to survive.
“I can’t explain it, but I am content …… I just want to live in this moment. To be fully present every second I have.”
“I’d say the ability to love life in the present is true happiness, Mr.Grayken”
The author didn’t sugarcoat anything in this book. She showed the reality of what someone goes through from the treatments to infections and setbacks, the feelings of guilt, despair and hopelessness to the victory of walking across the room unaided. For someone like me, who has luckily never experienced this, it showed me the harsh reality. My heart breaks for anyone going through this. There were several times that I had to stop reading because I couldn’t stop crying.
I truly believe that if you stand by each other, especially in bad times, and when love is on the line that you choose each other; then everything will work out fine. Thank you Ms. Lewis for sharing Matt and Mikaela’s ups and downs. It is truly an exceptional story which shows what love and faith can get you through.
Love on the Line (Great Expectations Love Stories: The Graykens Book Two) By Laurie Lewis is the sequel to Love on a Limb. I adored the first book and without question had to read this one. Matt and Mikaela made me feel such emotion in the first book and continues when I started reading this book.
Matt and Mikaela had a love right from the start and love blossomed even after marriage. Matt is so over cancer and trying to find his siblings. Mikaela finds the sister that so needs. Through the ups and the downs, these two characters will make you feel an array of emotion an so simply drag you into the world they live.
Laurie Lewis again gives us readers a roller-coaster so worth the ride and the emotional hangover, I simply love everything the about the characters, the writing style, and hope to read more from the author.
Love on the Line, by Laurie Lewis, is the sequel to Love on a Limb. This contemporary Christian romance continues Matt and Mikaela’s story. The author has a way with words in which they were so real along with the main characters. This beautiful story (and series) holds a strong message within it – so rich with faith, devotion, challenges, etc. Nothing in life ever bodes easily, there will always be trials and tribulations – how we respond to those and handle the situations determines whether a relationship can flourish or fail despite the best of intentions. Continuing with the emotional journey in this story, Laurie Lewis has showcased a remarkable couple who were captivating throughout the story – while the emotions ran high. Beautifully written, even during the story lows.

Love on the Line( Great Expectations Love Stories : The Graykens Book 2)By Laurie Lewis is the sequel to Love on a Limb and the continuation of Matt and Mikaela’s story. I would recommend if you haven’t already read the first Book in this series that you grab it.You will have a better understanding of what is going on as there is a lot of information in the first book. This book not only pulled at my heartstrings but had my emotions all over the place. I found myself relating to both of them and understanding how hard it is to stay positive all the time. I could go on and on for days about how wonderful this Author is and how she knows how to write stories that make the characters come to life, and make you feel like you are apart of the story. From the bottom of my heart not only this book but the first one as will be read again and again. I highly recommend reading this book as well as the first. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

5 out of 5 stars
Love on the Line is the sequel to the heart tugging, Love on a Limb. Without question I NEEDED to read this book, Love on a Limb left such a lasting impression, I smiled, I cried, truly one of the best books I’ve ever read. That being said, I was a bit fearful that Love on the Line would not live up to my expectations. Fortunately, Laurie Lewis’ writing shines bright once again in another unforgettable read about Mikaela and Matthew. The characters are heartwarming and the type that you find yourself completely rooting for. The storyline is rich and emotional, I can’t write a review that would give this story justice. Wonderful!
LOVE on the LINE by Laurie Lewis Is the sequel to Love on a Limb. When I first picked up the first book to read it was completely by chance. I fell in love with the characters and the story line. Much like the first book, this book had me from page one. It was as beautifully written, heart wrenching and just enough ups and downs to keep you wanting more. Mikaela and Matt have been on my mind since finshing the first book, and I love that she continued their story. I can’t wait to see what this author does next. I’m a huge fan after reading these two books. I easily Give this book a solid 5 stars.
LOVE on the LINE is the second book in Laurie Lewis’ The Great Expectations Love Stories: The Graykens series. It follows the Graykens, an unlikely couple who we watched fall in love in the first book in the series. Now, Mikaela is by Matt’s side as he faces further treatment that just might give him more time with Mikaela. Both fighting for the future they hope for, they also must prepare for the worst.
The characters are very loveable. Matt and Mikaela are great, but it’s also lovely to get to know Matt’s long-lost sister Kate, as well as seeing more of Matt’s friends as they come together to support him. Although there’s a focus on romantic love, other forms of love are very much celebrated.
The sadness in this book, surrounding Matt’s illness and Kate’s grief amongst other things, is balanced with warmth and humour. The ways that the characters cope with their pain also help the reader to cope with the sadness.
Having read Love On A Limb, I was eager to get more of Matt and Mikaela’s story and this book did not disappoint! It’s definitely worth starting at the beginning of the series to get more of the background of the characters.
For me, this is a five-star book. An emotional, captivating read that I would recommend to readers who want to feel all the feels.

Love on the Line is the second book in the Great Expectations Love Stories: The Graykens by Laurie L.C. Lewis. This books begins where the first book left off, so if you haven’t read Love on a Limb, you should definitely read that book first. Both books were really emotional reads for me. Love on the Line brings back Matt and Mikaela, learning to deal with Matt continued health issues and feelings of guilt as a survivor. This book had me bawling as the issues hit close to home for me. I really enjoyed the storyline and even my emotional upheaval. This book had me hooked from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until I read the last. This is such a great series and I’m kind of hoping it continues.
Love on The Line (Great Expectations Love Stories: The Greykens Book 2)
By Laurie Lewis
Love on The Line by Laurie Lewis is somewhat the conclusion of Matt and Mikaela’s story, I say somewhat because I feel there could be more written about these two wonderful characters. Now if you read Love on a Limb and cried your way through the book, then you need to go grab the tissues again, as you are going to go on another roller coaster of emotions. Love on the Line continues just wonderful from Love on a Limb, although I did go read the last chapter of Love on a Limb just to give me a memory boost before I started this wonderful story. You will also remember from book one that Matt saw no need to marry for love. Did he change his mind on love? If want a new author, check out Laurie and then you might as well get Love on a Limb and Love on the Line and read two of the most beautiful books, that will make you laugh, cry and maybe a little mad at times.

What a beautiful sequel to Love on a Limb! I was so emotionally invested in Matt and Mikaela, and was so happy to see this book.
I couldn’t get enough of this book, and everyone involved in this story. Despite the subject matter, which hits close to home, it was such a great story. You feel every emotion, every situation, and that shows what a great gift this author has. After I finished this book, I had to take a break before writing this review as I just had to get my thoughts together to do this story justice, but that’s impossible.
Must read, highly recommend.
Love On The Line by Laurie Lewis is book two in the Great Expectations Love Story : The Graykens. This book is a continuation of Mikaela and Matt’s love story. I really enjoyed book one so I was excited to get to read book two. I really enjoy Laurie’s writing style and I really enjoy the characters she creates. This was a sweet book of love. Although it wasn’t all butterflies it was beautiful written. I definitely recommend if you have read book one. I look forward to maybe a book with Kate’s story? And more of Matt and Michaela. Overall great story and 5 star rating.
LOVE on the LINE (Great Expectations Love Stories: The Graykens Book 2)
By Laurie Lewis
Let me start off by saying thank you Ms. Lewis for writing the sequel to Love on a Limb. I became completely invested in Matt and Mikaela’s story. The first book touched my heart in a way that left me with a lasting impression, with that being said this book is just as amazing. There is so much heartache, sadness, hope, and love in this story I wasn’t sure that my heart would take it but at the same time I could not stop reading. This book was written so well that it felt so real and touched my soul. There are some parts that were hard to get through because the fight felt so draining and difficult, then you feel the love, hope, possibility, friendship, and family and it makes everything worth the fight. I cannot say enough wonderful things about how well this story was written and how it touched my heart. I was definitely put through the emotional ringer and would and will do it over again because this is the kind of book you can’t just read once. I can’t wait to read what this author has in store for me next.
LOVE on the LINE is book two in the Great Expectations Love Stories: The Graykens by Laurie Lewis. This is the continuation of Matthew and Mikaela’s story. Mikaela, on a mission to save Matt’s life, will go to any lengths for him. Their love only grew stronger through many challenges. They face many hurdles and struggle to overcome the odds. But their love always remains the one, constant and unbreakable.
Laurie Lewis is an author that tears at your heart, breaks it, mends it, amd fills it with bliss for these couples. Gripping and emotional, LOVE on the LINE was an unputdownable story, and one that I will never forget. 5 stars.
“Don’t let your happiness depend on the amount of time you have but on the quality of the love you give.”
A clean “Christian” romance, Love on the Line is book TWO in the series and Love in a Limb really needs to be read first in order to understand the power that book 2 is.
Matt and Mikaela’s story picks right back up where it left off and is, once again, a realistic depiction of the trials and tribulations of the events that take place (at times almost too real) . It shows what people go through “in sickness and in health” and how love and prayer helps this family through hard times.
This story was not as emotionally exhausting as book 1 and had a few twists and turns along the way.
I would recommend this duet.
A great read about hope. Matt and Mikeala have found happiness in each other but it is always followed by a shadow of illness. Matt continues his battle with cancer, hoping that a potential bone marrow transplant from a sister he only just discovered can save the day. Together, Matt and Mikeala battle through it all, balancing moments of sorrow with ones of joy. But can they hope for a bright future when so much is at stake?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Matt struggling to stay hopeful or Mikeala trying to be strong for Matt and still follow her passions. Great cast of supporting characters like Daniel as a fun friend or Kate stubborn and brave. I loved the sense of a large family in the novel full of love and support for one another. However, at times all the drama with his sister got confusing and perhaps could be simplified for the reader.
I loved the use of contrasts in the novel with the whites of the hospital and the colourful decorations later on. Also with the moments of sadness and joy making the characters and their struggles more relatable and emotive. Or the bright hopes and dreams contrasting with the reality of illness perfectly written. I also liked the use of dates in the novel to give an indication of time progressing quickly for Matt which was a great addition. The mix of the science of hospitals and cancer with the romance of love and marriage combined perfectly to make a captivating read. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars
Exactly 15 months ago I finished the first book in this series. As I said in that review, I really love a book that makes me think. So I was extremely excited to get my hands on the long awaited sequel! This book is full of love, sadness, and a bit of frustration (cough, cough Matt). Everything has been going pretty well for the Graykens and even though there are some hiccups with Matt’s health and Mikaela’s desperate longing to bear his children, the couple choose to fill their life with helping others. Their charity work warms my heart and Laurie Lewis continues to make me think, especially since a dear friend of mine has been going through radiation treatments. LOVE on the LINE explores the ugliness of cancer in a way that gets the reader a bit closer to what it is like to suffer through, whether first or second hand. Matt and Mikaela’s love for each other seeps out of the pages, and though they both second guess themselves and their own agenda, neither one will deny the other anything possible just to see a smile.
