This story was so cute!
These two were honestly so driven in so many different ways. They were from way different backgrounds, but honestly they were just trying to back it on their own.
This story, is one of my favorite kind I love texting romance books. And it was honestly pulled of in an incredible way. Things were not rushed, the texting and phone calls were wonderful. I loved that it was a wrong phone call.
All around the story was fun, and enjoyable. There was some things I wish would have gone a bit further in on, but it didn’t take away from the story so it all worked and flowed well together.
What an enjoyable read! It was fun, light-hearted, and sexy!
I really enjoyed getting to know Joel and Leonie ! They are both so sweet and over all a happy couple. From that first phone call you know it’s going to be great! I wish I could have more.
It was a slow simmer then bam it hit you will all the feels and I really liked that. It was full of all the warm, cuddly feelings I love!
There was a scene that I could have done without that made me confused. Or maybe if it would have been a bigger issue it would have made more sense but everything else was great! Totally worth reading! I can’t wait for Mia Miller’s next read!

I stumbled upon Love, On Hold thanks to an author (who I stalk) who posted the sign up and the blurb hooked me right away. The whole wrong number bringing two people together and it turning into something more is one of those tropes that, when done right, can be a lot of fun, and this one was a lot of fun. It’s sweet, adorkable, funny with a good dose of smexy and just enough angst to keep things interesting without it being OTT.
I loved Leonie and Joel, Joel a little more, but only because there were quite a few moments where I wanted to reach out and shake some sense into her. But outside of that, they are both good people with good hearts who haven’t had the easiest lives, but they are determined to make their dreams a reality.
From their first ‘meeting’, it was hard not to smile at how fun and adorkable (most on Leonie’s end of things) they were together and how through texting and talking they started to fall for each other when neither had expected it and when they finally meet? Well, it was definitely an experience. From there things get even more interesting and while there were some of those moments, I loved them together ~ the smexy, their bantering and just how well they fit together. And where they were at in the end was perfect!
This was a wonderful read and a great debut novel for the author. The writing was engaging, the pacing was good, I really enjoyed the dual first person POV’s and here was a good balance of humor, heart, drama and smexyness. There were a few twists that I didn’t see coming, but they definitely worked for me. And as for the supporting caste of characters, I would have a problem at all if Amaya or Levi got their own books someday in the future. So, if you like the whole oops wrong number turning into more, than you’ll definitely need to pick this baby up!

Holy warm fuzzy cuteness batman! This book is adorable! Chock full of sweet, feel good, make you want to hug it goodness. I was hooked from that first wrong number phone call and head over heels in love. I haven’t read a book that made me this genuinely happy in so long. I flew through the pages of this one!
Leonie and Joel are flat out adorable. Right from the beginning of their phone only interactions you can’t help but love them. Their texts and calls quickly grow from having me giggling to swooning as their relationship grows into something much more than strangers. Love, On Hold is the ultimate feel good sweep you off your feet romance.
This story is “sweetness” personified. Joel and Leonie are so freaking cute together. Their relationship started with an accidental text to a wrong number that brought together two people with similar struggles. Joel is one of the best book boyfriends a reader could ask for. He is sweet, considerate, forgiving, and of course hot! This story is a sweet but sexy read with a HEA.
I love stories where mess-ups bring great rewards. This story was fun and and an easy read.
This story is one of the best I’ve read in a long time; hard to believe it is a debut novel. It was well-written with relateable main characters and great secondary ones, too. The way that Joel and Leonie “meet” is so unique and completely perfect for them. It’s so easy to fall in love with both of these characters and their story. This was a great, easy read that left me feeling really good and wanting more from Mia Miller.
Can a wrong number turn into a great love story? In the case of Joel and Leonie the answer is yes. This was an adorable read about two strangers getting to know each other and falling in love way before their first date. I loved the tempo of the story and the back and forth between the two at some points made me laugh out loud and at other times made me sigh in happiness. This was truly a heart warming tale of finding true love.
What a sweet story it started out with a wrong phone call than they had nick names for each other but what happens when Leonie & Joel really fall for each other?
Can a person fall in love with a voice?
Joel and Leonie are the cutest thing ever! I loved this book. Every last detail was great. I fell in love with Joel and his sweet nature towards Leonie that he doesn’t display with anyone else, and i love how she makes him a better person and yet, they’ve never even met!! It starts out so sweet and innocent and you are rooting for them the whole time. I was definitely hooked on this book from the beginning. I couldn’t get enough! I was on the edge of my seat every time you thought they would finally meet.
I enjoyed this book very much! If I could give more than 5 stars I would! If you are wanting a sweet love story with some steamy romance this is the book for you.
What a sweet, smart, and witty New Adult Romance that Mia Miller has written. So many New Adult romances have so much angst and drama that sometimes overshadow the rest of the book…not so with Love, On Hold.
I was intrigued from the very beginning. Joel thinks himself very lucky when he scored a hot chick’s number earlier in a bar. The joke is on him when he realizes she has given him the wrong number, but the female voice on the other end grabs his attention and gives him some sort of calmness. Instead of hanging up, he keeps talking to her.
Leonie is awakened at 3:45 AM by a wrong number. However, the guy’s voice intrigues her and gives her butterflies. This surprises her as she has had no time to even think about romance lately. So, the two continue talking, and before long, a pattern emerges in which they are talking and texting every day, getting to know one another. Keeping their identities secret is working for both of them NOW. What develops is a sweet, slow-burning love story.
Both characters are extremely intelligent and mature for being in their very early 20’s. Each of them have their own goals, and they are very motivated in reaching them. He wants to be an investigative reporter, working for a news agency that deals with facts and not opinions. She has a dream to be on the UN Council for Human Rights. This girl knows five foreign languages!!!! As smart as they are, each have suffered when it comes to their families but for very DIFFERENT reasons. It does play into the book and their romance.
The two draw out meeting each other, but Joel keeps pushing to meet Leonie. You may think this would slow the plot down, but the anticipation only makes it better. When they do finally meet face-to-face, it’s absolute SWEETNESS, which happens to be one of his nicknames for her.
The synopsis caught my attention, but Miller kept it throughout the book. It’s difficult for me to believe this is her debut novel. I would have thought it was written by a seasoned writer. I’m looking forward to reading her next book, Truly Yours.
****READ AND REVIEWED FOR DEVILISHLY DELICIOUS BOOK REVIEWS***
When I read the blurb to this book, I just knew I had to read it.
I have to say that I was drawn in immediately with this book and I love a book that hooks me from the start. It wasn’t boring and it didn’t drag for me. I actually found myself so caught up in the book that I didn’t even mind that it took the characters a while to actually finally meet and have sex.
As long as the story draws me in, it doesn’t bother me when the actual consummating begins.
The way Joel and Leonie met was cute, I could see myself striking up a conversation with a person I’ve never met out of coincidence. You never know what life can bring you with unexpected love!
Leonie and Joel were definitely a perfect match. He was sweet, sexy, HOT and definitely into Leonie when they were just texting buddies. Leonie found herself intrigued and hooked on Joel when they started the whole texting friendship. I adored these characters.
This was definitely a fun, flirty and sexy read.
Ms. Miller did not disappoint me. She definitely delivered a great plot and a book that I can say I absolutely loved!
4.5 stars!
So in love with this story! This is the story of Leonie & Joel. They find each other due to a wrong number phone call. From the first time they speak they are connected. It starts out as a fun phone only friendship but blossoms into more. But they are both so hesitant. Neither one of them does love. They have their own personal issues going back to their childhood. But they have to decide if overcoming them is worth the chance.
I loved every moment of this story. I couldn’t put it down! Joel is such a dreamy character. He is sexy and tough but also kind and compassionate. He is a great example of following your dreams no matter who tries to stop you. And Leonie is the perfect strong woman character. I want to be her friend! Life hasn’t been easy on her but that never stopped her from achieving her dreams. Even when an exboyfriend with a family of power tries to tell her who she is supposed to be. Watching her stand up for herself and who she is was so awesome. And yes this book has many swoon worthy scenes. And talk about steamy! GET ME SOME WATER!
I highly recommend this book to romance lovers. This will be a new favorite. It is for me. I can’t wait for more from this author!
I really enjoyed Love on Hold, which is a young adult romance novel by Mia Miller. The story has two main characters, Leonie and Joel, who are both 21 year old college seniors in California, and the story is told from their alternating points of view. The story begins when Leonie answers her phone in the middle of the night, because the ringing wakes her up at 3:45 am. Leonie doesn’t recognize the voice on the phone, but keeps talking to him anyway because she’s intrigued by the guy’s voice, Joel’s voice, that kind of turns her on. Joel thinks that he is calling a flirty blond who he has just met at a bar, so after Joel explains this to Leonie, she tells him that he has the wrong number because she has been asleep in her bed for hours, and then Joel apologizes for waking Leonie up. Leonie is then ready to hang up until Joel yells, “Wait!”, then he asks Leonie if she will talk to him while he runs home, and they end up having a flirty conversation until he gets there. Joel saves Leonie’s number, and since she isn’t ready to give him her name, he calls her, “Scissors”, since Leonie tells him that she works at a hair salon/barbershop. Leonie calls Joel, “TDL”, for Tall, Dark and Lonely.
Leonie and Joel end up texting, calling, and flirting with each other for two months. Joel wants to meet Leonie in person, and so does Leonie, but she’s still too nervous that he won’t find her physically attractive. They’ve both developed a crush on each other after all their flirty communication. Will Leonie and Joel ever meet? What will happen next? I recommend that you read this first novel by Mia Miller. The story is well developed and the characters are wonderful, and if you love a good romantic story with lots of flirty banter, you will love this book! I can’t wait to read Mia Miller’s next novel!
Love on Hold is a great read. Leonie gets a wrong number call from Joel. At first Joel come off as a little cocky but he’s not. They strike up a friendship based on phone calls and texts. They don’t know each others names so Joel calls her Sweetness and she has him saved in her phone as TDL (Tall, Dark, and Lonely). These two are great. They have great chemistry and are fun characters to read about. They spend a lot off time talking and texting and I was like let them meet each other already. When they do meet each other the over the phone chemistry is still there. It’s not all just a fluffy romance. Both Joel and Leonie have some issues. Leonie has an ex that has plans of his own and is a little pesty and Joel has issues with his dad. You should definitely check this one out.
Have you read Teagan Hunter’s Let’s Get Textual? Because this book reminded me of that. It was still different, Joel is SO not like Zach and Leonie definitely not like Delilah- just similar concept: wrong number leading to the love of your life. I love when books include texting banter, but when a book is centered around it? You have me at hello!
Leonie Marsh wakes up at 3am to an unknown caller looking for a booty call (why else do you call at 3am?). Leonie isn’t looking for love. Love is for after. After school, after she gets settled into her career, when she’s ready. But who’s ever ready for love? Leonie is looking to work at the UN, so while she’s studying her butt off with all those languages, she’s also volunteering at the hospital (playing games with the kids), and working as a hairdresser for the campus barber shop.
Joel Thomas moved away from his alcoholic father, who also happens to have a lot of power in the world. While he’s trying to make it in the world of journalism, he has to deal with his father demanding he come home, and blocking any chances of him actually getting a job in the field he wants. For reasons completely unlike Leonie, Joel doesn’t believe in love; He doesn’t believe in relationships. But something about Leonie calls to him, and he can feel the pull with just the sound of her voice.
What starts out as a simple wrong number turns into an everyday interaction, it turns into a relationship, calling each other when they have a bad day, texting each other constantly, even though they don’t even know what the other looks like. They talk about their hopes and dreams, their goals, what they want from the future, they talk about their past. They open up to each other in ways they never imagined they would to a total stranger. What starts out virtual leads to them meeting in person, and the connection they had on the phone only grows.
I loved many things about this book, but one of my absolute favorites was that they were both busy trying to carve out their own futures and they both tried to think of what they could do to help the other. When Leonie gets super busy with all she’s doing, Joel tries to do more with her, like volunteering at the hospital. When Joel gets frustrated with not being able to find work, Leonie tries to help him still follow his dreams while going around his father’s blocks. The way they try to support each other and it. Is. AWESOME.
Also, there’s not much drama between the two. There’s no cheating (thank God!), there’s some other woman/other man drama, but not much. There’s some push and pull between Leonie and Joel, but nothing that makes you go crazy (well nothing that made me want to punch anyone, anyway). They have their own hangups, but they give each other the time and space to work through them. They’re both 21, so they have some immature moments (don’t we all), but they try to work through them the best way possible. Basically, this novel was gold, and it’s only a debut. I cannot wait to see what Mia Miller has in store!! I will definitely commence stalking- eh, following, Mia!
I liked the characters and even the storyline but something was missing for me. I felt disconnected and put the book down too much. The concept was cute and I do think the author has the potential for sure. This story just felt like it didn’t really get going and then it was over
