Love on Beach Avenue is a three-layer wedding cake of best-friend’s-brother, enemies-to-lovers, and just plain fun. Another yummy confection by Jennifer Probst!
Love on Beach Avenue is book 1 in the Sunshine Sisters series by Jennifer Probst and a great start.
Avery Sunshine, wedding planner at the Sunshine Bridal Salon, makes dreams happen for her clients but she hasn’t found her special someone to make her dreams happen. That is until her best friend Ally, announces her engagement and she has to deal with her friend’s brother and the demanding man of honor, Carter Ross.
Lots of banter, sexual tensions, friendships, family and taking a chance that this might be her forever love…
Great start to a new series by Jennifer Probst! Introducing the Sunshine sisters! The three sisters run the Sunshine Bridal wedding planning service. At the helm and the heroine of our story is Avery Sunshine. Workaholic and organizer extraordinaire! She is a successful businesswoman with a heart of gold and a dream of someday finding love herself. When her best friend from college, Allie, asks her to plan her wedding Avery can’t say no. And better still, Ally will be spending the few months prior to the wedding in Avery’s hometown of Cape May. Enter our hero, Carter Ross who is Ally’s older bother and Man of Honor. Avery and Carter have a bit of a past. Just enough to seed a mutual dislike based on character impressions made years ago. Previous conceptions are disproven then blown away as the couple get to know each other through forced circumstances. This is a slow burn enemies to lovers romance. One of the things I liked best was the absence of excessive angst and over-the-top drama. Our characters were adults and acted accordingly. But while Avery dreamed of her eventual HEA with marriage and children, Carter did not. Experiences in his past prevented him from envisioning a committed future with any woman. Even Avery. I loved how they worked these issues out and Carter truly became a swoon-worthy hero. Can’t wait to see the other Sunshine sisters find love in future installments!

Avery Sunshine dreams of one day finding her HEA. Until then, she’s satisfied making other people’s dreams come true. Avery and her sisters run Sunshine Bridal and are rated one of the best bridal companies around. Avery will do whatever it takes to make dreams come true. When her best friend from college announces her impending wedding and asks Avery to be her wedding planner, she can’t turn her down—even though they are already booked! Angry, her sisters leave it all up to her…
Carter, a successful computer hacker, is owed time off and can’t think of a better way to spend it than helping his sister plan the perfect wedding. When his sister is called back home to help care for her fiancé’s mom, it’s left up to Carter and Avery to plan the entire wedding together. Carter and Avery have NEVER seen eye to eye. Carter thought Avery was a bad influence on his sister during college and doesn’t believe she can run a successful business. It’s up to Avery to prove him wrong. Every time Avery makes a suggestion, Carter undercuts her and gets his sister to side with him. Avery is offended and hurt, but is willing to do anything to make her friend happy—even work with Carter….
I think some of my favorite scenes were between Avery and Cater’s dog and the “guys”. That dog did NOT like her! I could just picture her prissy little nose up in the air, snubbing Avery. Too funny! Carter was extremely loyal and devoted, but close minded—at first. Avery continued to impress Carter with her knowledge and work ethic, so unlike her college days. The chemistry was off the charts. I loved how the “guys” became fast friends and helped Carter win his woman in the end. I can’t wait to read Avery’s sisters stories! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
I loved the Sunshine girls! What a wonderful setting with the beach locale and the wedding business. The sisters, Avery, Bella and Taylor are all different but share the sisterly love along with Bella’s daughter, Zoe. All are fabulous as they run their legacy, Sunshine Bridal along with hottie, Gabe. First up is oldest sis, Avery. The former college hellion is now the boss of the business handed down from the girls’ parents. Always calm, cool and collected as Avery handles the crazy world of weddings and all that comes with it. She is a workaholic and as in-charge as it gets. Until her college bestie, Ally calls for a tight schedule beach wedding and she’s forced to deal with the Man of Honor, the bride’s brother, Carter. As Ally’s guardian after their parents deaths, the older Carter is less than impressed with Avery’s influence on Ally during their college days. Avery and Carter were always at odds and nothing seems to have changed over the years. Other than Avery grew into a beautiful, sexy woman. Avery still sees Carter as the uptight “robot man” of the past. It doesn’t take long for the sparks to fly as Carter inserts himself into every facet of his sister’s wedding planning and infuriating Avery to no end. A competition begins and soon their relationship morphs into a sizzling chemistry that surprises both. But the two are polar opposites when it comes to love and marriage. Avery is a believer as she plans the most romantic day in the life of a couple over and over. She wants the dream…love, marriage and kids. Carter is tortured by a cruel event in his past and he wants nothing to do with a happily ever after. Is Avery strong enough to withstand the insanity and change his mind? Can Carter really leave his dream woman behind? This is a funny, sexy enemies to lovers romance with fantastic characters. Avery and Carter are a sizzling couple that deserves a happy ending. So do the sisters, single mom, Bella and rebel artist, Taylor. I can’t wait for their stories in this fantastic new series from this terrific author.
Avery is a wedding planner. Squeezing in her best friend’s wedding into her schedule will create more stress for her, but this is one wedding she really wants be involved in. This will be a once in a lifetime experience!
One problem. Ally wants her brother to help her make the final choices. Avery and Carter never got along when she and Ally were college buddies getting into trouble. Have you ever hated someone from the moment you set eyes on them? Well, that is exactly what I mean!
From the wedding dress, the cake, the flowers… and more, Carter and Avery are like oil and vinegar. Not even shaking them up could bring them together. He is the most exasperating brother on earth. Only problem is that as they spend more time together that little thing called chemistry keeps growing and won’t go away!
Amusing as all these couples are Avery and Carter are the definition of a hate to love story. Getting there makes for some unforgettable scenes.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
A new series by Jennifer Probst always gets my heart pumping. She’s one of my favorite authors and I look forward to everything she publishes. Love on Beach Avenue promised a new family of sisters that are wedding planners looking for love.
Avery Sunshine has known Carter since she was young being best friends with his younger sister Ally meant they were never on the best of terms. Now Ally’s getting married and she’s asked Avery to plan her wedding on short notice with Carter’s help. Immediately sparks flew between Avery and Carter and the tension was super high. Their chemistry was off the charts from the beginning and tensions only rose as Carter was an a-hole from the start. Carter’s character was more complex than I thought, as his past was revealed throughout the story and explained why he felt the way he did. His gruff exterior and gooey interior made for some confusing interactions with Avery. Eventually, they both realized their connection and mutual tension was meant to be more.
Jennifer Probst always delivers all the feels with her feel good romances. Her characters and storylines are easily relatable and keep me cheering until the end. As we were introduced to Avery’s sisters, I’m really excited for the next two books in the series.
Love on Beach Avenue is book one in this enemies to lovers romance. Avery Sunshine is a wedding planner looking for the one. While Carter Ross is her best friend Ally’s older brother, who avoids love at all costs. This was such a cute, quick read that I really enjoyed. I loved this story but still wanted to slap Carter at times. Such a great read that had me laughing out loud at times at their antics and swooning at other parts at their sweetness. I really loved that it was based in Cape May, which isn’t far from where I live. I am really looking forward to the next book in this series.
Somehow Love on Beach Avenue is the first book I’ve read written by Jennifer Probst, but it definitely won’t be the last. I love a good enemies-to-lovers story, and Carter and Avery’s story hit all my happy spots.
Avery Sunshine, along with her sisters Taylor and Bella, run their family business Sunshine Bridal. Sunshine Bridal is a thriving wedding business and they are booked solid when Avery agrees to take on her BFF Ally’s wedding with only a few months until the wedding. As Ally is moving to Cape May for the summer to be with Avery every step of the way, Avery is ready and willing to take on the wedding on her own. However, when Ally gets called away early, Avery must work with Ally’s older brother Carter to make all of Ally’s dreams come true for her wedding day.
Carter Ross still remembers Avery as the friend who got Ally in trouble when they were in college and really doesn’t seem to want to let her forget it when they first see each other again. I didn’t love Carter when we first met him. Rather than come in with an open mind after not seeing Avery for years, he kept giving her a hard time at first, and made her life harder for too long. He also seemed to not believe in love when we first met him. However, when he was around his sister, Avery’s niece Zoe and his dog Lucy, he was completely different. I started changing my mind about Carter the more time he spent with Avery. He seemed to become softer and a bit more open with each passing day.
I really enjoyed seeing Carter change as the story progressed. I really felt like their early bickering was almost their form or courting. They really did have pretty amazing chemistry even when they weren’t getting along at first. I liked they had more of a slow burn before getting together, especially since there was so much animosity between them in the beginning. I had all the happy feels the more time spent with Carter and Avery as a couple. I totally fell for them as a couple, even knowing they had some challenges ahead based upon their different thoughts on relationships. I had all the happy sighs by the time I finished reading Love on Beach Avenue.
Love on Beach Avenue was a wonderful start to this new series from Jennifer Probst. I can’t wait to read both Bella’s and Taylor’s stories in the future. I really enjoyed this first book and can’t wait to read more books by Ms. Probst.

5 Can They Find Love With Each Other Stars!!
I’m a huge fan of Ms. Probst and if it has her name on it, I’m going to read it. So when I read the blurb for this first book in her new series, it struck a chord with me. It’s enemies to lovers, sisters, on the Jersey Shore and it’s about wedding planning…one of my secret job wishes!
Avery and Carter have known each other for years with his little sister Ally is her BFF. The only problem when Carter is determined to give his sister the best wedding ever is that these two do not get a long…and that’s putting it mildly so imagine a hell of their own making being forced together for days and hours at a time.
And even as much as Carter may not trust Avery to give Ally the wedding of her dreams, as they work through the plans, there are very heated exchanges, but I could see little changes within Carter the closer they got to the big day. Carter went into this planning with the memories of who Avery was when she was younger…what he didn’t count on his how she’s changed both internally and externally! They’re both strong headed too so there’s some definite moments that I was sure someone was going to hit somebody!
Leave it to Ms. Probst to fill this book moments of banter that had me chuckling, moments that made me want to go to the Shore and just swooning when Carter and Avery got out of their own way! I loved the way Avery and her sisters, along with Gabe, ran a business that made dreams come true…even if some of the couples included a true “bridezilla!”
This is a perfect start to a new series and I cannot wait for the next book!
4.6 stars
There is a reason that this author is a bestselling one. It is because of her ability to create characters that feel real amidst a story that tugs at one’s heartstrings. I know that with every new story that I read by her that I can be guaranteed to have my emotions react in a myriad of ways.
This story is no different as it takes a wedding planner, Avery, that believes in love and wants it for herself, and a man, Carter, that doesn’t. It is a case of opposites attract. It should be cliche but it is anything but. This is because of this author’s ability to weave a tale that sucks her audience in. I felt like I was along on the ride and was in Avery’s shoes. I wouldn’t have warmed up to Carter very fast either. In fact, I didn’t. I struggled with liking him for her. However, my feelings changed as the story progressed. Fantastic secondary characters and definitely some future stories could come from this book.
If you are on the fence about reading this, or any of the author’s previous work, don’t be. She truly is special.
A lighthearted fun enemies to reluctant friends to lovers romance that was funny, sad and feel-good with a happily-ever-after full of promise and love. Planing her bestfriends wedding should not have to include pandering to her brother that hates her and seems to want to do her job for her, better even than she does it. Rolling over though is not part of her make up and she will plan the perfect wedding despite his interference. Falling for him was not on the agenda! Hoping he can open up to love and giving her his heart is going to be an uphill battle and she may not come out on top. Five star read for me
While Carter & Avery aren’t off to a great start, this romance quickly heats up as Avery’s wedding planning business is tasked with the wedding of Carter’s sister.
Carter doesn’t trust in Avery’s ability to pull the event off but Avery is determined to deliver in spades. She may not get the HEA, but her brides should have their day to remember.
The pull between the two is back and forth, but when they finally get out of their own way, it’s well worth it.
I love this beginning to The Sunshine Sisters and am looking forward to Book 2!
I received an ARC via NetGalley and am delighted to leave this review.

I loved this book. I can’t wait for the next one in this series. This author never disappoints and she definitely didn’t with this book. I recommend this book, this series, and this author.
You would think with the last name Sunshine everything would be well sunshine. Jennifer Probst, however has a devious, clever and oh so funny way of showing us three sisters managing a wedding planning business showing their true colors. We have first Avery, the eldest of the sisters who in some ways is the mama bear among this trio. On the outside she is perky, funny, serious but is lacking that feel of happiness she see’s in her clients. Planning weddings are her thing but when it comes to her best friend’s brother she is starting to doubt herself in everything she does. Now Carter as MOH is a wonderful concept and boy the way Jennifer Probst creates him is funny. One minute he is serious, an expert at all wedding things and then the next he is well flustered when it comes to feelings towards Avery. These two when they are together is comedy all the way but man once they let go of all the planning and just learn to have fun is where they are awesome. All in all being the first book in this wonderfull series have to say it was great. Cannot wait to see what Jennifer Probst does with Taylor and Bella adding little Zoe was a great spoonful of fun. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
Love, man do we need lots of that now! This book brought me the beach and a huge dose of Happily Ever After’s. Wedding planning is stressful but the end results in a day of beautiful memories for the future, so yeah a book filled with the planning of HEA’s.
Now the characters that Jennifer has given us are both head strong and passionate. Both Avery and Carter demand to be heard and take no short cuts to get what they want, which gives us a thoroughly entertaining and romantic book. Their banter their passion for being right and fighting what is a steamy connection, will shine a light in your heart. They bring the beach to you!
Love on Beach Avenue is book and leaves you with and inkling of what is to come next in the series, hooking you instantly. The Sunshine sisters and Beach Avenue are going to rule our hearts for a while to come. A hit for 2020!
Avery and her sisters have a wedding planner business that she is mainly in charge of. Ally, her best friend, gets engaged and Avery is more than happy to plan her wedding, even though she only has 3 months to do it, until she finds out her brother Carter is going to be helping. Carter never liked Avery when her and Ally were in college and doesn’t have faith that is is good with her job. This is a great enemies to lovers book. It is a fun read with many laugh out loud moments as they acknowledge their attraction to each other and decide to see what the insane chemistry is between them. Definitely a great read and looking forward to the books about the other sisters!
Amazing enemies to lover’s romance. Avery is driven to be the best wedding planner and keep the family business a success. When her best friend from college asks her to squeeze in another wedding during the summer season, she can’t say no to Ally. What she doesn’t expect is to deal with her uptight brother Carter to assist with planning the wedding. Carter grew up fast when their parents died and worked hard to ensure Ally had the best life possible. When Ally and Avery met in college, he was frustrated by Avery’s wild behavior which got Ally in trouble. He is doubtful that Avery can plan the perfect wedding for his sister. This clash of wills is so much fun as they goad each other into crazy bets to see who is the better planner. But through each appointment and encounter, something starts to shift and a passion is ignited. The problem is that Carter doesn’t do love and happily ever after’s but Avery craves this for herself. Will Avery be the person to help Carter face his fears? Or will love elude them both? This book had me laughing, cringing and crying while loving every wonderful moment.
