Perfect introduction to the series!
I read the first book before discovering that this prequel existed so I read them out of order, but I’m still glad I read this one. It clarified a few misconceptions I had that were sort of glazed over in the other book and it shows how the two main characters got estranged in the first place. The story is about Annie Jamieson who is the daughter to Rock superstar Jax Jamieson.
She was raised by her Aunt and Uncle in a modest house in Philadelphia and she thought they were her parents and called Jax her uncle. When she was ten and her Aunt and Uncle we’re having problems, Annie overheard Jax and her Aunt Grace talking and found out he was her Father. She remained with her Aunt and Uncle while her father was touring and only moved with him full time when he retired a few years ago.
Jax surprises Annie one day when he has her friend Tyler move in with them. Jax runs a music foundation for underprivileged kids and he saw that Tyler has a gift with the guitar and wanted to help him. He also will be paying for Tyler to attend the same private school Annie attends. Annie and Tyler were best friends in Philly but they had lost touch over the past eight months when he had stopped answering her calls and texts. She felt like he had let her down during a time when she had things going on and really needed him.
Annie is not liked by the school’s elite and the Queen Bee at the school, Carly has it out for her. Annie thinks the same will happen to Tyler especially when everyone finds out he is a poor kid from Philadelphia living in their pool house and her Dad is paying his tuition. However, Tyler shows them all that he could care less what they think and they all love him for it.
This is a quick little novella at 100 pages and a great introduction to all the players in this series and it gives all the background as well as some of the struggles they have gone through and are going through. It sets up the next book perfectly and is certainly worth the read.
This is a perfect introduction to the up and coming The Rivals series by Piper Lawson.
In this Fantastic prequel we get a sneaky little insight into Tyler and Annie’s relationship…and alls I can say is…GIVE ME MORE !!
I am hooked and sold to the series that will come after this short story.
Piper’s writing is perfect and has you reeling with anticipation , I am practically drooling with excitement of what is to come .
There are so many questions in my mind right now,I am freaking out ,
I have never wanted to read a series more than I do now after reading Love Notes.
It is brilliant,
I Love Annie and Tyler already and I cannot wait to know more of thier story, this is a Must read ,you have to read it.
The Rivals series is going to be EPIC.!!!
Did you LOVE the Wicked series?! Or are you brand new to Piper & just love YA, angsty romance?! Either way, this prequel is LIFE ya’ll!!! I can’t even put into words how much I freaking LOVE that Annie & Tyler are finally getting their story told. And this prequel will have you wanting, no NEEDING, to read A Love Song for Liars (Rivals book 1)!!! Get ready for an amazing ride for these two. It’s going to be EPIC!!
This prequel left me with all the feels and I can’t wait to start the series. I want and need more of Tyler and Annie.
My heart won’t stop pounding. Annie and Tyler met in New York and were best friends. They lost touch when Annie moved to Texas with her rock star father but Tyler is back to work on his music. Annie is frustrated because Tyler never returned any of her communications to him. School is also a challenge with the mean girls targeting her. Tyler comes to Annie’s rescue at a party so just maybe they can be friends again. Oh boy, does Annie get a shock. This duo is awesome and I can’t wait to find out how their journey unfolds.
This prequel was everything and more. Getting this little glimpse into their relationship wasn’t enough for me. I need more. After reading this, I know that Annie and Tyler’s story is going to be so good and I can’t wait.
What a special little novella! We meet Annie and Tyler in the Wicked series, but you can read this as a standalone to get you ready for their whole story.
They were best friends until Tyler ghosted her. Now he’s back in her life, school and home. This story is full of chemistry, family, friends and all the emotion and drama of high school and young love. I can’t wait to see what Piper has in store for them both in A Love Song for Liars!!!
So you know when you go to the movies and you see an AMAZING movie trailer? Just a snippet or a preview of what’s to come? That is EXACTLY what Love Notes is! This quick read is your setup to allllll the things to come with Annie and Tyler! If you aren’t already familiar with A&T from Piper’s Wicked series, that’s okay! That’s exactly what this book is for! Love Notes is the perfect set up and tease! And it’s free, so what do you have to lose? Download it. Love it. And patiently wait for A Love Song For Liars
What a great start to this new series by Piper Lawson. Annie and Tyler are going to be quite the couple. Looking forward to their journey to finding love
4*
Annie is surprised to find that Tyler is staying with them after not been able to contact him for months.
He’s here to work with her musician dad, shes unsure how they stand.
I’m looking forward to reading more about Annie and Tyler.
A great start
‘Love notes’ is the prequel to the Rivals trilogy and it should be read before ‘A love song for liars’.
For the readers who have read the ‘Wicked’ trilogy by this writer, they will remember Annie and Tyler from those stories. For the readers who are new to that series or even to this writer Piper Lawson, this (free and) short story is a good way to get a taste of her writing style. But I do recommend that you read the ‘Wicked’ trilogy first before reading the Rivals trilogy, it will give you more understanding of Annie and Tyler’s background.
The main characters may be young (high school), the story did feel more new adult than young adult to me. And I’m very curious to see these characters grow and mature in the following books.
So…this little story takes place 8 months after Jax and Haley’s wedding. The story is told from Annie’s POV and I was very happy about that. Because that way I got to know her better, although Annie was a secondary character in the ‘Wicked’ books, it’s only when you get to read someone thoughts and emotions that you really get to know the character better and after reading this story I really have the feeling that I have a better insight into Annie’s heart. It was interesting to see how she really thought and felt about Tyler. And although the story is short, it’s still emotional. It’s about a young girl searching for her own role or place in her family, in school and how her friendship with Tyler is changing.
‘Love notes’ is a great beginning of a new series. I can’t wait to read more about Annie and Tyler.
That hurt!
I’m not sure if it hurt more having reas it after A Love Song for Liars or if would have hurt that much before too. All I know is that the feels are there. The hope is alive. The hurt is throbbing.
I need all things Rivals!
I feel like this was a wonderful tease of what’s to come, I’m sensing a bumpy ride with loads of angst. My heart strings tightened, I had a small pain that is only going to turn into a crack the size of the Grand Canyon. I need all the answers today so I’m diving into A Love Song for Liars now, to see how Tyler and Annie’s story plays out.
With Love notes, Piper introduces us to a new series Rival. We meet Tyler and Annie and we see a quick preview of their relationship, their friendship, and this special shimmering that they have. The story just introduces them and because of it, you will want to read more.
I received this e-book from the Author and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is the prequel to the Rivals series, and the story of Tyler, and Annie. This is just a quick intro to Annie, and I can’t wait to read more in their story.
Tempting teaser
I am now officially dying for the end of April to come as quickly as possible now that I’ve gotten a taste of what could be next for Annie and Tyler. After spending the last hour or so, whipping through these pages, ignoring reality and devouring Love Notes, I’m all in for what comes next.
Piper Lawson builds the curiosity, excitement, drama, and sexiness that lurks behind every door in this yummy prequel that will lead into the 1st book in her new rockstar romance series, the Rivals trilogy. Glimpses of Jax Jamieson..BIG bonus for this fan and seeing that off the charts, smoldering chemistry between his strong, sassy daughter and the talented protege he’s taken under his wing and into his home is just the perfect tempting teaser to insure that I’ll be waiting to set aside a day, night, whatever, for A Love Song for Liars the minute its released! My heart was left in my throat and I want it back, Piper Lawson! Hats off to you for this fantastically enticing novella.
Love Notes: A Prequel (Rivals Series) – Piper Lawson
A short 76 pages that takes us back to the Jameison family and reintroduces us to Tyler Adams who has moved in with the family to work further with Jax on his music. The perfect size novella that takes us to the next phase for our favourite Rock family.
This prequel is a great introduction to this series. I love the way it highlights Tyler and Annie’s relationship. I liked all of the backstory that leads up to Tyler coming to stay with Annie and her family. There is a lot of emotion and loads of teenage angst in this. If I am being honest, this could have just been added to the start of the first book. If you are going to read this series then I would definitely include this prequel into the mix. It definitely adds something to the series.
It’s been a minute since I was in this world so this is the perfect easy read to get back into it. I have a feeling this series is going to wreck me more than the Wicked one did!
Tyler is already tugging on my heartstrings with stuff like this:
“You have no idea how many times I’ve fucking wished you meant nothing.”
Bring on the angsty goodness!
This is a prequel to the Rival Trilogy Series. This short story will grab you emotionally and addict you to the budding attraction of Tyler and Annie. They are interesting and likable characters that quickly draw you into their emotional roller coaster. He’s a protege of Annie’s Rock Star father and she is taboo. Rock Star romance at it’s best. Plenty of angst and drama. I read an arc via the author and voluntarily chose to write a review.
