You never get over your first love. It’s something I’ve heard countless times. Like someone has to point out that your pain will never go away. That your shattered heart will never mend.Because that’s exactly what my heart did the day I watched Asher Evans board that train- it shattered, splintering into a million tiny fragments that I didn’t think I’d ever be able to piece back together. He was … together. He was the boy I had loved since I understood what loving someone meant. The one who knew me inside and out. The one who swore he’d never let me go. It’s been six years since that day and even now the memory haunts me like it was yesterday.
I’ve done my best to move on, to rebuild, and for the most part I’ve done pretty well. But all of that comes crashing down when Asher strolls back into town like he never left.
I don’t want to want him. I certainly don’t want to need him. But that doesn’t stop me from doing it anyway. Only things are different now. I’m different. I’m not the girl he left behind all those years ago. I may have been foolish enough to give him my heart once but I won’t make that mistake a second time. Or at least that’s what I tell myself until I’m standing face to face with the one man who has the power to break me all over again.
Love Me Like You Won’t Let Go is a complete standalone.

As with every other book by this author I was definitely left an emotional mess with this story but loved it. Asher and Blakely had been best friends and in love with each other forever. When he decided it was time to go home he decided Blakely was still his and would not let go. My heart went out for these two and I was rooting for them the entire time.
Second chance romance books are either a hit or a miss! Let Me tell You holy Melissa has done it again and hit this one out of the park!
When the love of your life disappears then reappears 6 years later do you give them the time of day or continue to move on with your life?
This is the heartbreaking story of Blakely and Asher.
This book took me on a roller coaster of emotions! My heart broke for Blakey & Asher then rejoiced for their second chance.
Asher is determined to remind Blakely how good they were in the past and how much better they could be in the future.
We have up and downs and more love then you could imagine.
I love a good second chance romance and this one tugged at my heart. I got lost int he writing absorbing the emotions along the way. This book was definitely a roller coaster of emotions. I loved the depth the characters had and how we were able to see them grow from their struggles. I enjoyed the plot of the book and finished it in one sitting. I look forward to reading more from this talented author in the future.
I absolutely adore Melissa Toppen and her writing!! She knows how to pull you in in just a couple pages till you are lost in a world until the next thing you know you have finished the book without eating or hardly doing anything else for the entire book. And I love books and authors like that!! She also will touch you heart in every single story she writes. Somehow it’s like shes found a small piece of you in one of her characters whether it’s the main one or one of the supporting ones. And you usually want to know more about those supporting characters too. I loved how we got both Blakely and Asher’s POV in this book. I like how we got to see some of the past as we were learning their present. This book will definitely pull on your heartstrings but it will also make you want to slap some people upside the head. But I so enjoyed this book and am looking forward to my reread!! I highly highly recommend this book!!! – By Tina
Childhood sweethearts and he goes away. This story is great love story about a tried and true love that people dream of and life happens and then will they be able to get their story back. Asher is a perfectly written character describing the loss he feels internally after losing both his mother and father and his struggles to find himself again. Blakely is his love who is left behind while he is trying to find his place again. The emotions in this book were perfectly written and very accurate with the ups and downs and confusion of life.
I enjoyed reading about these characters, their family and their friends. This book felt like a mostly accurate way of life and I loved how easy it was to relate to. I would love to know about the supporting friends Mary and Allison.
This book was hard to read. Well, it was easy to read but the stuff that happened was hard for me. It is really well written. I loved all the characters. That’s what made it hard, I liked Tyler and Asher. I am not sure what I would have done in Blakely’s situation. I totally understood everything she did. And may have even done exactly the same thing. But being on the outside you now what she’s doing is wrong. Ugh. If you enjoy angsty, second chance love stories you should totally read this. I did enjoy it, just on the fence on what I wanted to happen the entire book.
When her first love, the man who broke her heart into a thousand pieces, comes back home after 6 years, will Blakely give him a second chance like he’s come back for? Or has she moved on?
Sigh…I am of two minds about this story. On one hand, the writing itself is good (nice pacing, well-detailed, etc.), on the other hand, I absolutely could not stand either Blakely or Asher. She because she basically cheated on her fiancé, who was really the only likable character in the entire story, and left him on their wedding day!!! He because he was a selfish douchenozzle who left for 6 years and never, not once, contacted her, then strolled back into town and expected her to be just dying to get back together with him. Um no, just freakin NO! So, good writing but awful lead characters means 3 stars is all I can honestly give this one.
This is a well written, second chance true love romance with a twist.
This is also a story about love that has withheld during all the highs, lows, and distance.
Interesting story with an eventual happy ever after for some.
I good read.
(I don’t like spoilers and to say anymore would do this. Reading some reviews out there you don’t need to read the story. Any pleasure you would have received is gone!).
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ah!! I knew I was going to love this book, but this love triangle was so freaking good that I am just in awe over the whole book. Love Me Like You Won’t let Go is a second chance love triangle that made me fall head over heels in love with every single character. Asher, Blakely, and Tyler’s story had me just as torn as Blakely was on who her heart belonged to. I went back in forth over who I wanted her to pick. I felt every emotion that they felt. These characters came alive on these beautifully written pages. I enjoyed every minute of this angst filled roller coaster ride. Melissa Toppen delivered another must read book.
Happy Reading Everyone!!

I’ve read emotional love stories but omg this one is now in the top 5. It was sad, it was happy with a little bit of anger, heartbreaks all wrapped in one. My heart was about to explode reading about Asher and Blakely. I didn’t know what to think at times and oh my heart.
Asher and Blakely childhood sweethearts until poor Asher loss his dad and set out to fulfill his dad dream of exploring the world. Of course this meant leaving heartbroken Blakely behind. Fast forward 6 years and he returns thinking that they can pick up from where they left off. How wrong was he. It wasn’t easy and Blakely was not about sweeping 6 years under the rugs like nothing had happened. It was so much and I didn’t know what to expect and who corner to be in. One thing I did realize was how much Asher loved Blakely and how he never stopped thinking about her in all those 6 years. Blakely was confused and didn’t know what to do. She was torn for lots of reasons.
Asher was about to accept defeat but fought for her and she eventually came around. These two had such a beautiful relationship and went thru so much that this couldn’t be read with dry eyes especially towards the end. Really beautiful.
This second chance romance was a real emotional roller coaster ride.
This well paced read was overall written well but I felt that the circumstances between the main characters was a bit rushed and underdeveloped.
However, the characters were complex and complicated, so as their struggles developed and unfolded I really felt their emotional pain and turmoil.
Full of angst and an interesting twist, this book, (for me) really begged the question are second chances worthwhile?
Love Me Like You Won’t Let Go by Melissa Toppen is an emotionally charged, second chance romance. Asher and Blakely have so much history but when a tragic event happens in Ashers’s life turning him inside out he makes the decision to leave and find himself. Leaving Blakley behind to put the pieces of her broken heart back together. Six long years later Asher returns. Here is where I have a few issues with the storyline. Blakely has moved on with Tyler and he is a great guy even if Blakley is still drawn to Asher. I didn’t love Blakely and I felt she handle the entire situation wrong. I wanted to know more about Asher while he was gone for those six years. The story fell a bit flat for me as I didn’t feel like there was enough information that allowed me to get closer to Asher and understand Blakely more. I felt that the story was okay but could have been so much more, was it a good book yes, great book no, but the potential was there.

Love Me Like You Won’t Let Go is about a second chance romance but not the the second chance romance story as expected.
The story is about a couple who have been child hood friends which turned into a relationship. Blakely watches her boyfriend Asher leave to travel after he loses his father with the promise “this is goodbye for now – Not forever. But after six years and no contact, Blakely puts her life back together without him and begins her life with Tyler. But eventually Asher returns to his hometown to “get his girl”
He soon finds out she’s moved on and will be getting married soon.
So he has new plan: Win his Girl Back.
This story is emotional and has the feels with some surprising reveals too.
Another great book by Melissa. 5 Star Read!!
I loved this book!! The characters were flawed and heartfelt. Blakely and Asher really kept me glued to the pages!! Asher makes a great member of my harem!!
I feel like it has been way too long since I read a Melissa Toppen book and really, it has, I don’t think I have read her since Crazy Stupid Love (which I loved BTW). I also need to mention that I love her super unique covers! The writing is just what I loved and e Percy from Melissa Toppen. She never fails to add so much emotion to her stories. Love Me Like You Won’t Let Go (LMLYWLG) is definitely packed in with the feelings… they characters will pull at your heart and have you rooting for them.
Asher and Blakey have a past and it’s a tough one. I struggled with Asher. I went back and forth in liking him and wanting to catch him on fire. Blakey is also an interesting character. She’s not exactly strong-willed and I felt like the people in her life almost told her how to live. However, as time goes by they both start to grow and evolve. I never really loved Asher but in the end I really felt that him and Blakey made a great couple. I do wish we had more of them as couple. There was so much of them separate or thinking about the other… I just would have loved a bit more of them. Toppen created a unique storyline out of something that has been so overdone. I liked it and really felt she gave this duo their deserved happily ever after.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
Asher and Blakely’s story completely consumed me. This second chance romance is the first book in a long time that made me want to jump to the end to see if they find their way back to each other. This was a well crafted love triangle and you could feel the pain and heartbreak that the characters were living through. Ms. Toppen has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I know that I will always love the story and the characters and that it will make me feel. It has been really hard to find a book that can make me do that lately. Great read!
This book is so full of angst, I had to step away from it a few times because I couldn’t breathe. This book is a lot different than Melissa’s other books. But it shows how versatile she is. I love her work and the writing was very good, but I just didn’t connect to either the Hero or the heroine. It also had a hard limit for me. Great writing, just not my favorite of hers.
Oh my heart. Going int0 Love Me Like You Won’t Let Go I refused to read the Blurb….Insane I know. I did this because after countless books I’ve read by Melissa Toppen I know one thing..Can you guess what that is? Well I’ll tell you….My heart will ache, break, be filled to the brim and I will become a mess. It is what Melissa Toppen is gifted at doing. Love Me Like You Won’t Let Go does all that. You want childhood love, you get it. You want amazing best friends, you get that too. You want a triangle and confusion…well you might just get that. How about second chances? I’m not going to answer that one you will just have to read to find out. But I’m telling you that you will love Blakely, Tyler, Asher, Mary and Allie. But mainly Blakely, Tyler and Asher the most. You will cry right along with them. You will feel the heartache and you will feel the love. God this book is so amazing. I don’t have enough words to describe everything I went through while reading this one. I’m not going to say anything else except GO ONE CLICK THIS ONE!!!!! DO IT NOW!!!!!
4 Cranky Stars
Blakely and Asher had been friends for ever, they did everything together. They live in a small town in West Virginia. Asher had lost his mother in a car accident when he was two years old and his father had brought him up which made them very close. Blakely and Asher’s relationship turned to love, the sort of love you think will last forever. He was everything to Blakely her first friend, crush, kiss and love.
At eighteen Asher lost his father to an eighteen month fight with cancer, he was devastated and while going through paperwork he found a list that his father had done when he wasn’t much younger than Asher. It was all the places that he wanted to visit in the world, obviously he met Asher’s mother and had Asher so the list had been forgotten. Asher was so lost without his father, but soon realised what he had to do and that was to complete some of his father’s dream. This ends up with Blakely and Asher standing on a railway station platform saying goodbye!!!
He believed and told her it would only be for a couple of months. He told her he would ring when he could and keep in touch. That was the last she saw and heard from him in six years. For four years Blakley had suffered with a bad case of broken heart, until Tyler came into her life. He was a good man and they fell in love. The big town event was coming up soon where she had to arrange a float for the parade. It was all going well, with her mother and her sitting on the float throwing sweets out to the children lined up in the street. Then she saw him, the colour drained form her face, there as bold as brass stood Asher!!!! From here on in poor Blakely’s life gets confused, muddled and emotional.
She loved Tyler but Asher was always there to remind her of what she had. The author goes into great detail the emotions that run through Blakely and the decisions she makes. What will Blakely do in the end, that you will have to read the book and see!!!!
