You never get over your first love. It’s something I’ve heard countless times. Like someone has to point out that your pain will never go away. That your shattered heart will never mend.Because that’s exactly what my heart did the day I watched Asher Evans board that train- it shattered, splintering into a million tiny fragments that I didn’t think I’d ever be able to piece back together. He was … together. He was the boy I had loved since I understood what loving someone meant. The one who knew me inside and out. The one who swore he’d never let me go. It’s been six years since that day and even now the memory haunts me like it was yesterday.
I’ve done my best to move on, to rebuild, and for the most part I’ve done pretty well. But all of that comes crashing down when Asher strolls back into town like he never left.
I don’t want to want him. I certainly don’t want to need him. But that doesn’t stop me from doing it anyway. Only things are different now. I’m different. I’m not the girl he left behind all those years ago. I may have been foolish enough to give him my heart once but I won’t make that mistake a second time. Or at least that’s what I tell myself until I’m standing face to face with the one man who has the power to break me all over again.
Love Me Like You Won’t Let Go is a complete standalone.

Awesome read. I couldn’t put it down. It had me from beginning to the end.
It’s difficult to read a book where you just know there might be so much angsty but for some reason this story was so well writing that I just fell in love with this characters with their difficult journey they had to take and what they all went through. It was just at the same time heartbreaking and sweet as well. Asher and Blakely they had to go through so much so they can have that love the kind of the of love that you never take for granted and you never let go.
“When I close my eyes I see him. When I breathe in deep through my nose, I smell him. When I lick my lips, I taste him. It’s like he’s everywhere and I can’t shake him.”
Every once in awhile, you come across a book that reminds you why you love reading romance so much! I felt it down to my bones, the love between Archer and “B” as he so fondly calls her, even with a 6 year absence and a world of hurt between them. Childhood friends, turned to a deep and lasting love that just warmed me through and through. She thought she moved on, but as soon as he stepped foot back in town, it unleashed so many angsty, feel-inducing whirlwind heart-crunching events, I was glued completely to the pages and didn’t want to leave this couple’s bubble. The romance is completely off the charts and the chemistry, magnetism, and hold these two have on each other just blew me away.
“Love me. Love me like you won’t let go, B.”
Making a decision between two completely different paths seemed impossible, but in the end, my heart swelled, my tears fell, and I cheered for how it turned out…I won’t soon forget the beautiful magnificence of this couple’s trek back to each other anytime soon!! The idea that fate intertwines with the strength of a once in a lifetime love oozed from the pages and swept me away. I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!
“He holds every single one of my firsts. My first friend. My first crush. My first kiss. My first love. He’s etched into my very core. He’s as much a part of me as I am myself.”

Good book.
This story grabbed me at the first page and didn’t let go until the end. Blakely and Asher’s story is full of drama, angst, heart break, mixed emotions, and sweet memories as they get their second chance at love. It’s a long and bumpy road that had me holding my breath several times waiting to see what happened. Loved their story and the ending.
A second chance romance that will take you on an emotional ride. Told using dual points of views and flashbacks, Blakely’s and Asher’s story certainly is definitely a page turner and will pull at your heart strings. Very well written with totally believable characters. Highly recommend
Super emotional! Whenever I read one of Melissa’s books I bring tissues. This one was no different. The story was beautifully heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time. Blakey and Asher will give you all the feels. Definite must read.
I was hooked from the start, second chance romances always get me. Asher and Blakely’s story is a must read. After Asher leaves due to sad circumstances, Blakely is left heartbroken. She never forgot about him and 6 years later she didn’t expect for him to come back in her life. This was an emotional rollercoaster. Grab your copy now, you will not be disappointed.
Love Me like You Won’t Let Go was an emotional intense story that will tug at your heart-strings. What do you do when your first love reappears in you life after being gone for six years? This is the dilemma Blakely faces six weeks before her weeding day. This love triangle will grab your interest and take you on an emotional roller-coaster ride.
These characters will evoke different feeling from you. I loved Tyler. He was such a good guy who truly loved Blakely. And while I felt for Blakely but there were some things she did, I did not agree with. I really did not understand Asher staying away so long and never contacting Blakely. A random post-card once in awhile would have been better than nothing at all.
The story was told in both the present day and through flashbacks and gives us a bit of Blakely and Asher’s history.
Although I was not fully on the fence about this story I would recommend it to lovers of love triangles and second chance romance.
Love Me Like You Won’t Let Go is a great childhood best friends to lovers read. I liked the way the story was told, dual pov’s, and it tells the past story. This book will make you feel it all. It was so full of emotion. What would you do if the love of your life left? Years later after no contact he’s just walked back into your small town. Yep that’s the nightmare Blakely is dealing with. She has let go of the past and moved forward to find her happiness. Will Tyler keep her heart? Asher has come home for her, is he too late? Could this be their second chance at love? Read the story to find out!
You never forget your first.
And how could you when they are in every memory you have? Good or bad. The loss of a love like that can be crippling and hard to let go. They say time heals all wounds, but what happens when that love shows up, out of the blue, and tells you exactly the words you longed to hear?
Blakely and Asher were each others first everything. Best friends, loves, lovers. They were the perfect couple. Until he left. All the secrets and promises shared were broken.
Blakely moved on. Perfect boyfriend(fiancé), perfect job, great friends…Its only when Asher shows back up that she finally questions herself. Just his presence reminds her of all the hurt and anger she has felt. It also reminds her of the love and loss they shared together and the life they once had.
I love that Blakely’s character is so independent and strong willed. She doesn’t buckle just because her past comes back to haunt her, even if it is wrapped with the perfect smile and backwards cap. Asher is the epidemy of the all american boy. Its those same boyish charms that almost make you forget the devastation he caused with his absence.
LMLYWLG is perfection in giving us all the feelings that come in the different stages of denial and acceptance with this reconnection. This is definitely a second chance romance you won’t want to miss.
Oh my heart…… Blakely and Asher put each other through the wringer! Asher broke poor Blakely’s heart 6 years ago and then pops back in her life when she’s weeks from her wedding day. Blakely is engaged to a good man who helped heal her broken heart but she’s never fully moved on from Asher, that love is still strong. Asher did what he had to do after his father died but in doing that he broke Blakely’s heart, now he wants a chance to make things right with the only woman who’s ever owned him heart and soul. What will Blakely do? Stay with the man who put his ring on her finger or choose the man who broke her but still has her heart? A very emotional and angsty story! I hope that Tyler will pop up in a future book!
Hmmm. I am not sure how to review this one. Overall I liked the story. What I did not like… Asher was gone for six years. Six years and no contact with Blakely. No contact with any of his friends. Nothing. I find it hard to believe that he spent his life traveling the world, thinking about her every day, and not wanting her to join him or keep in touch and really thinking that after six years had passed she would be there ready to have him back in her life. I also wanted to know if he had other relationships while he was gone, other girl friends, what did he do that entire time. Six years is a long time and people can change a lot in that time. I also did not like the way that Blakley hung on to Tyler and did things behind his back, not really cheating per say, but secretly with Asher… thinking that they could be friends and it would all be okay and not being true to her feelings right away or honest with Tyler right away. I wanted so much out of the book. It had so much potential to be so angsty and emotional, but it left me lacking at times. I did not feel enough invested in the characters – well, at least most of the time. Definitely not with Tyler – he was a take it or leave it kind of guy. Not enough development surrounding their relationship to make me care whether or not he stayed. Overall, was this a good book. Yes. Was it a great book? No. It could have been, but it fell flat for me unfortunately.
** spoiler alert ** Are ready to feel? Love Me Like You Won’t Let Go will do exactly that, make you feel all emotions. This book may or may not be your cup of tea. I like the reality of this book. It happens in real life, heck it could have happened to you or someone you know.
I enjoyed the characters and the story line. Am I happy how it ending. Ugh, I have mix emotions. I fell for Tyler, I hope he gets a book and gets an HEA. Then again I really liked Asher too. So hard! But Melissa pulled me in with her words and it wasn’t hard to get lost in this story.
Man this author really knows how to tear you to pieces and put you back together. From the first page, I could feel all the angst and heartbreak headed my way but nothing could make me stop reading.
This is a story about young love, losing that love and having that love returned when you least expect it. And the choices one will have to make to have shot at their HEA. But is there to much hurt to get through?
Both these characters are amazingly strong and easy to fall for. I was rooting for them the entire time even though sometimes it felt wrong and impossible. The way the author wrote their story was perfect, I felt that they really needed to face and deal with the hard truths and I’m glad that it wasn’t glossed over (even though it broke me a bit)
I absolutely loved this book and I think you will too! This should definitely be on your must read list!

If you need a story that will make you cry, then smile, then laugh, and do it all over again. This is the book for you. There is first loves and second chances in this love story. Melissa Toppen writes the best (this could happen in real life) love stories. Love Me Like You Won’t Let Go is one of them books that once you pick it up you won’t want to stop read till the end. It Is Amazing!!!
I’m all about long lasting, never-ending love. I wasn’t much of a fan of Asher’s at first. He disappeared and there was no word from him for years. Chalk it up to bring young, grieving, and stupid? Maybe. I think Blakely tried so hard to do the right thing, and that is what makes it hard to understand. I couldn’t imagine having my heart taken by two different men. Love comes in so many forms that sometimes it’s hard to decipher between. I really enjoyed the storytelling and I loved Mary and Allison. They were great friends to Blakely and Asher.
Second chance romances are one of my favorite types of stories. This book is a great example of that. This story grabbed my attention right from the start. I really enjoyed learning about Asher & Blakely. I loved the fact that they were childhood friends first. I also enjoyed learning about their long history. My heart broke for Asher & all that he went through. It also broke for Blakely, who was left to navigate in a world without him. She had to make sense of his departure & placed her hopes in his return. I really loved all the support she had/received during this time. Her parents, two best friends and Tyler. That support system is equally as important when Asher returns. I loved how confident Asher was about his feelings for Blakely & how important she is in his life. I also loved how he respected her new life & tried his best to carefully make a way into that life. Blakely tried her best too, to make sense of his return & all of her unanswered questions she still had. I loved seeing them both navigate their way back to each other. Their chemistry was off the charts & difficult to ignore. I loved how Melissa combined the right amount of flashbacks of important moments between these two. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of second chance romances. I would also say it is A Must Read for any fans of Melissa’s writing.
Love Me Like You Won’t Let Go is a second chance romance mixed with a love triangle. This book sucked me, like always with a Melissa Toppen book. I’m usually not a big fan of love triangles, and a small part of me didn’t like the triangle here, but I do feel the story ended the right way.
Asher and Blakely were high school loves and then Asher disappeared for six years. During that time Asher met Tyler and they had a wonderful life and were set to be married….then Asher came back just weeks before Blakely’s big day. Blakely and Asher spend those weeks reconnecting and rekindling.
Who will Blakley choose…Asher or Tyler???
The feelings poured off the page with this book. My heart ached and soared. I laughed and cried. I loved every moment of this book.
I would recommend this book to anyone.
