Love Me Like You Do by Aimee Brown a five-star read that kicks off with a bag. This was a sweet and romantic story that will whisk you away and make you want to run away from it all, hopefully not to get into an accident. I am a huge fan of serendipitous encounters and this one does them so well. We all know the heart wants what the heart wants, but just because you know something doesn’t mean its easy to understand. Liam is just the most adorable character, they all have a part to play in the story and each one will bring something different, but Liam just brings something special. Do not miss this sublime story, I do plan on going back to check out the Lucky Dress as I adored the writing style.
I asked Netgalley for the ARC because i needed a romcom, something that would put a smile on my face and this story seemed perfect. I am not disappointed, i laughed a lot and totally melted for Liam our hero.
In the first chapter, Parker, just dumped at the altar by her douche fiancé, runs away and has an accident. She thinks she’s dead, on the asphalt, with her wedding dress and God is talking to her… Of course she’s alive and God is Liam, a stranger who saves her from this nightmare. He takes her to the hospital and after that… destiny plays its role… and they become friends… with attraction.
This first chapter hooked me, it was funny and fastpaced. Parker made me laugh a lot and Liam was already a sweetheart.
The first half of the book was a bit complicated for me… I loved seeing our heroes with their family and friends but maybe i would have liked to see Parker and Liam together more. I almost lost interest in their relationship.
The second half is better, they spend time together, we see their feelings grow, they face their personal issues, they help each other…
I didn’t really understand the “come back” of the h’s ex near the end, it was not really necessary, and the last chapter was a bit rushed but the ending and the epilogue were great, fairytales worthy.
Other issues : Parker’s injury is forgotten too easily, same for Liam near the end. Are they superhuman? And … maybe some comic elements were too much (cakes…). And their world is too small (Char’s story for example or one of Harper’s friend). And Liam is too kind for my liking with his father (and it didn’t get enough development) but… That’s Liam he’s adorable and amazing.
Good things: Parker is the perfect auntie, i loved her relationship with her cute and funny nieces. She also has good taste in movies lol. Every second characters bring something to the story and made me laugh. That’s not just a love story but a family story, friendship story. Our heroes’ lives are not easy, that gives them some depth. No sex scene (yep no need). Liam, Liam, Liam… perfect Liam is perfect. A TRUE gentleman, the perfect boyfriend we all dream of! Yes i love Liam!
Overall i spent a real good time with this novel. It’s a sweet romcom, a slow burn, friends to lovers funny story. It would make a good movie.
3.5 *
This is truly a clean rom-com, which isn’t easy to find!
While I felt like there was a lot going on in this book, my overall thoughts were this was a quick read, with laugh out loud moments and characters that I genuinely wanted good things to happen to.
“Love Me Like You Do” has family drama, quirky friendships and fun friends to lovers setting. This was my first time reading anything by author Aimee Brow, but I would totally read more of her work.
Favorite Quotes:
I let out a heaving frustrated sigh. One that feels like it’s come from the depths of my soul where I store all my secrets.
The goofy grin now on his face sends a wave of mortification through me. I can feel the heat start at my feet and quickly make its way to my head. I probably look like a thermometer with both a bright red face of humiliation and bright red hair.
The next pose is anything but easy as we lean forward, butts in the air, hands on the ground, and sweat dripping onto our increasingly slippery mats. Jason doesn’t hold back and rips a fart right next to me. ‘Sorry,’ he says out loud as the room pretends it never happened. ‘Perfectly normal,’ Stella says. ‘Perfectly normal is far too correct,’ I mumble to Jason who laughs under his breath.
Yep. They say you gotta kiss a lot of frogs and, well, I don’t want to anymore… The right frog is supposed to turn into your prince according to fairytale law. But I think mine got run over by a truck or something.
‘I pinkie swear.’ She holds her pinkie in the air in front of me… Don’t tell me you’re never pinkie sworn before?’ ‘I’m a thirty-two-year-old dude. Of course, I’ve never pinkie sworn before. Is it like crossing my heart and hoping to die?’ I do the cross my heart motion and point to the sky. ‘What the hell was that?’ she asks with a laugh. ‘There is no dying involved in pinkie swearing. Just link your pinkie through mine. It’s binding. If we were Japanese and I broke the pinkie swear, I’d have to cut off my pinkie or let you cut it off or something morbid like that. It’s the real deal of promises…’
My Review:
This was good fun and wicked funny, I giggle-snorted most of the way through and laughed aloud several times. I adored these quirky characters, even the obnoxious ones, well, maybe not the exes, but I was totally enamored with the endearing main characters who gave good banter and clever inner musings. Written in a dual POV, the writing was original, irreverently witty, keenly insightful, delightfully amusing, and sparked sharp visuals across my cranium that kept me smirking with glee.
The storylines pulled from several genres including my favorite, women’s fiction, as well as romantic comedy and considerable family drama. I relished every clever word of this engaging tale and am now stalking, coveting, and scheming to amass all her books, past and future. I have a new author to fangirl as she just shot to the top of my favorites list.
Love Me Like You Do is a fun, LOL filled romcom with a touch of those ‘life complications’ that so often trip us up. Parker and Liam are definitely MFEO (like in Sleepless in Seattle, which is one of my favorite romcom movies and I found this just as loveable). In a nutshell: It’s a super sweet book of friends to lovers with both their families having issues behind the scenes, which enriches the plot. Highly recommend!
Likable characters and enjoyable “Cinderella” and even “Sleepless in Seattle”-like moments. A perfect read for these strange days we are living. Sweet, chaste romance. (Read advanced copy via NetGalley.)
Love Me Like You Do is a charming romantic comedy about a man and woman who meet by chance. It begins as Parker flees her wedding after her fiancee calls it off. Liam saves Parker, helps her to the hospital, and an instant connection forms. However, Parker and Liam are both romantically damaged and must put their past failures behind them before they can fully commit to each other. Can Parker trust again after her humiliating rejection at the alter? Will Liam admit that he wants to be more than friends?
Liam is a great character. A bit of a knight-in-shining-armor, he enters Parker’s life at just the right moment. His irresistible charm and deep feelings contrast with the shallow and selfish man Parker almost married. Parker is a dedicated sister, daughter, and nurse who has an inner strength that I find admirable. She’s smart and fiesty, and I love how involved she is with her nieces. Parker’s dedication to her family is both sweet and heart-warming.
The romance between Parker and Liam is fantastic. Though they have an instant connection, neither is looking for romantic entanglements. Parker is still dealing with the end of her relationship, and Liam still hasn’t recovered from the hurt of being rejected by the woman he loved. I enjoyed watching this pair heal and grow together.
A funny and fast-paced romance, the heart of Love Me Like You Do focuses on relationships – the strength of family, the importance of friends, the pain of rejection, the excitement of new love, and more. The novel also addresses issues like mental illness, abandonment, and the long-term effects of alcoholism, which adds depth and realism to the story. Thanks so much to Netgalley and Aria for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

I think I fell for the pretty cover. Everything about this is cheesy and not in a good way. The dialogue was a bit weird and was written in such a way that made it difficult to keep track of who was speaking at times. The plot was lacking. The characters felt very one-dimensional. This read like a draft and not a finished product.
