Women are dying. The killer wants to play a game with Lilah Love. Lilah doesn’t play games, she doesn’t submit to demands. The love of her life, her ex-lover, that isn’t so ex at all, Kane Mendez, knows that all too well, but like the hero, or perhaps criminal that he is, he’ll try to play the game for her. But this killer isn’t playing with Kane, demanding Lilah step up or more blood will be … step up or more blood will be shed. Lilah claims her role on the game board, and she’ll do it to save lives, but she isn’t happy. And when Lilah isn’t happy, someone is going to die alright, and it won’t be her fault. It will, however, be her duty.

KANE & LILAH UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER
LOVE ME DEAD is the third book in the Lilah Love series. This series must be read in the order of release. LOVE ME DEAD and LOVE KILLS are the Umbrella Man duet – these two could be read as a duet without reading the rest of the series, but I don’t recommend doing that. There is a lot of reference to actions in the previous books.
Loving Kane Menendez is the ultimate in loving the bad boy. Lilah isn’t really the good girl, though she looks great in pink, her father was the police chief, and her mother was a Hollywood darling. Lilah and Kane are good for each other. They keep each other from the darkest parts of what life could bring them into.
Then there is the Umbrella Man. This serial killer has decided to play a game of wits with Lilah and he seems to know too much, be everywhere, and is determined to show that he has all of the control. Control is not something that either Lilah or Kane cede to anyone.
The end – this is the first book in a duet within the series. There is a cliff-hanger. Lisa Renee Jones blames Lilah Love. I blame Lisa Renee Jones. After all, she has the track record for being the cliffie queen.. I only thank the good Lord that I already have the next book and don’t have to wait at all to continue the fight against the Umbrella Man.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

This story totally sucked me in at page one and didn’t let go! Lilah is tough, hard, a total bitch and I love her! This book is suspenseful, full of mystery, fast paced and oh so good! The ending……OMG! I need the next book now!
Lilah and Kane get back together and start back to where they were. As they both start trusting more, another killer is coming for Lilah. She is trying to figure out who it is and how she’s involve. This goes beyond just a killer but she needs proof. The cliffhanger is stunning and can’t wait for read the continuation.
In the third instalment of the Lilah Love series, Lilah is now based in New York and despite her misgivings, in a relationship with Kane Mendez, the love of her life. Before she can settle down to domestic bliss a new killer calls her out to play. In Love Me Dead an official request has been made, supposedly by her former mentor, for Lilah to do a profile on an NYPD case but as in the previous books nothing is what it seems and she’s soon up to her neck in another case where the body count is rising and the killer’s end game is Lilah Love herself.
I absolutely love this character. She steals every scene she’s in. She’s a complete bitch and doesn’t care who knows it – if anything she considers it a badge of honour. She doesn’t suffer fools and expects the people around her especially those in law enforcement to do their jobs by the book even though she threw that book away herself a long time ago. The plot which would probably be best described as dark romantic suspense is fast paced and doesn’t let up for second. It’s full of twists and turns and like Lilah I was second guessing everyone’s motives. The romance element with Kane adds some relief from the tension. They are the perfect match for each other. Each preventing the other from letting the darkness overwhelm them.
This book does end on a cliffhanger but after reading the first duet I was expecting this and have already downloaded the next book.
I love Jones’s writing. I hate her cliffhangers. They’re just cruel to the reader :-). I read the first two books in this series when they were published but never got to this one until now. I was left wondering what came next for Lilah and Kane. I love them both. Lilah’s edginess seems like such a refreshing way to live. She doesn’t sit around wondering what people think of her or worrying that she’s too aggressive. And Kane loves her for it not despite it. He’s his own kind of edgy, the depths of which we don’t know and may never.
Though I love Lilah’s character at times I got a bit overwhelmed and tired of her crankiness. Just because I admire her, doesn’t mean she can’t get on my nerves. Man I love Kane. I love his love for Lilah and his ability to take care of her when she’s not one to let anyone take care of her.
As always though, Jones left us hanging and it’s torture to wait for the next story.
Third in this series. I have a love/dislike relationship with Agent Lilah Love and this book slides more to the “dislike” end of the spectrum. And it ends on a stinking cliffhanger. The story and I mean the good guy/bad guy, mystery, is excellent. I find the constant tough girl complex gets old. I have not decided whether to continue the series. Know this ends on a complete non ending.
Damn, this author really knows how to suck you into a story. I’m so fascinated by Lilah and her life. I’m also completely jealous she has a man like Kane Mendez. Even his name sounds awesome. If you love an anti-hero who will literally kill for his woman….you’ll love Kane Mendez.
Lilah is kind of a bitch and I love her for it. She is so blunt with her dealings with others. I’m pretty sure she hates people. She’s just so badass that I think everyone that hates her discreetly loves her too.
This is a series that tackles different cases per book but I would still recommend starting at book one. You learn so much about each character that reappear in each book. Plus this one ended on a huge cliffhanger. I don’t believe the first two does, so this threw me when it ended and of course it’s a cliffhanger that I have to know what happens next.
Did I mention that I love Kane Mendez?
Love Me Dead by Lisa Renee Jones is the 3 book in the Lilah Love Series and whoa talk about one explosive cliffhanger!
FBI Profiler Lilah Love is now assigned to a new task force that will keep her in Manhattan. Hardly in her new apartment she gets a message from Junior and then a call by the NYPD requesting her expertise with a serial killer. As she arrives to the scene she feels like she’s being watched. Once inside realizes that this crime is a message to her. She realizes fast that she doesn’t trust anyone at the NYPD when she discovers missing evidence along with incorrect statements. As the story unfolds Lilah and Kane’s relationship intensifies and she finally gives in and admits she wants to be with him. She fights it hard at first and one of the times she was livid at him and pulled her gun on him.
I love this quote from Kane’s
“I know you and what you will and won’t do. I know you like no one else knows you and that pisses you off. You’re a killer, Lilah, of course you’ll do it, but to be clear, it’s the only way you’ll get rid of me.”
The killer is taunting her expecting her to play his game little does he know that she doesn’t like games. This is a riveting, suspensefilled, edge of your seat, mystery with so many twist and turns that you won’t be able to put it down.
Thank goodness book 4 Love Kills is already out!
5 thrilling
I waited for this one to be released in audio form and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Lilah F**king Love is back and staying in New York and she has been called in on a case and it appears from all indication to be about her. The Umbrella Man is all about games but Lilah does not play games. She sees past the games and she is going to solve this one. In typical Lilah fashion she pulls it together and along with Kane (oh, they are so good together!) they can take on not only the Society but also the cartel and Lilah’s family if needed. Beware, there is a cliffhanger but that is always expected…
4.25 stars–LOVE ME DEAD is the third instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult LILAH LOVE romantic suspense series focusing on FBI profiler Lilah Love.
