As always, Leslie Wolf is very entertaining. Every story in this book of short stories is gripping in its own way.
Another great book by this excellent author. I can’t wait to read another book of this author
A group of short stories that I could not stop reading. Every story was captivating and held my interest.
This book contains 19 short stories that tug at the heart strings. There is far to many stories to tell you about individually but all the stories have twist and turns and a few I needed a tissue in order to continue reading. The book covers everything from a soldier being discharged from the arm and his love for his partner, to a doctor convincing a patient he does have a reason to live, to a mother protecting her family and the lengths she will go to, to police detectives out smarting criminals and getting a confession. This book covers it all but the main theme is good triumphs over evil, even if a few tears are needed to do it.
Leslie Wolfe is an excellent and talented writer in order to get the reader to feel so much emotion in ten or twelve pages. A must read.
LOVE LIES AND MURDER Leslie.Wolfe
THE BANJO
The author pulls you in from the beginning, if you have ever seen someone trying to hop onto a train. Your heart stops, he can’t miss, he can’t., is your mantra. She continues with Jack finding the coil banjo strings, and the blood is his missing brother, Conrad. Taking a leave of absence from his job, he haunts the corners, the homeless. They mention a guy playing the banjo, and riding the UP trains. She has given us a tense, straightfordward , personal look at a brother missing and the brother looking for him.
Another a woman who enjoying the sun. and talking with Elmo though the
son questions who is Elmo, nobody around he knew, or was there.
Another a postman and putting money in a jar as a gesture of kindness
for someone at Christmas.
The stories are short, all are a great selection that will touch one‘s heart with.the emotion of the story.
The first one was a favorite, though enjoyed all,
Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
I am usually not a fan of short story collection but this one hooked me right from the first story until the very last. Each story spoke of times that could happen to any one of us. Each story, however, ramped up the tension just a little more which kept me reading the next one and the next one until the end. Each one has a satisfying ending.
Love, Lies and Murder is a collection of short stories written by Leslie Wolfe. It consists of 19 stories which all show what a talented story teller Ms. Wolfe is. I have had the privilege of reading some of them previously and while they are each a complete story, I have never finished one without thinking “wow while this is a terrific short story, this could be expanded and make a terrific book!”
My original intention was to give a brief synopsis of each story but soon found that difficult to do without giving away too much of the story. Suffice it to say the stories are divided into 3 thematic sections being of course love, lies, and murder. The stories in each section represent different degrees of each theme. For example, the stories representing love are about the love between spouses, between man and his dog, between parent and child, between siblings, etc. Lies are the lies told for various reasons. Murder are different types and reasons for murder. Each story is an emotional experience.
If you enjoy audible books, I highly recommend it as well. Gwendolyn Druyor once again lends her narration to another of Ms. Wolfe’s books. Her voice gracing these stories help make it a pleasurable listening experience. She puts the proper emotions into her narration as well as changing her voice so that it is easy to keep track of which character is speaking in conversations.
I do love Leslie Wolfe’s stories and novels and very much look forward to each of them. I always preorder her books and when I am not fortunate enough to be gifted a copy of the audible, I purchase it as well.
This is a book of little stories with a big story feel. They are perfect with a cup of coffee.
