Old Scars Are No Match For a Second Chance at Love
Widow Hilary Larkin must fulfill her late husband’s dream of opening a bed-and-breakfast adjacent to an old orchard. The small farms conference in the Minnesota Northwoods is supposed to be the boost to make it possible. But her fear of change turns to high anxiety when her sister-in-law misses the plane for their trip together after a family … together after a family crisis.
Along comes Dane Porter, lavender farmer and guest speaker at the conference, and talk soon turns to more than just farming. Even though he locked up his heart after his ex-wife betrayed him, he’s drawn to the beautiful and complicated Hilary. But the ring on her finger sets a boundary he would never cross.
Falling head over boots for Hilary, Dane still worries putting his trust in another woman could lead to heartbreak. And Hilary has her own shadows from the past, ones her meddling sister-in-law might use to ruin Hilary’s chance of finding love again.

This was a cute and fun book to read.
Hilary does not want to be at the conference. Her heart isn’t into fulfilling her late husband’s dream and her sister-in-law has bailed on her. She is alone in a different part of the world and doesn’t want to socialize.
Dane is a great romantic interest. He is fun and easy-going. He doesn’t agree to present at the conference thinking he would fall in love, but sometimes love isn’t something you can plan for. It was a sweet romance with friends finding love. It didn’t feel rushed even though the conference lasted one week.
This is a book that makes the perfect summer book. It is easy to read and is a sweet romance.

Love, Lies, and Lavender is the first book I’ve read by D.E. Malone and I really enjoyed it! It was an enchanting story of opening up to love after loss and pain. I think the characters were interesting, well-written, and showed depth of character. I really enjoyed the progression of their story and their understanding of themselves and each other. Great sweet, clean love story with a perfect ending!
I feel like I could just jump right into this cover and walk these lavender fields–gorgeous! There’s something so comforting about a deserving couple finding a second chance at love and what better place to find it than at a farming convention in Minnesota.
Hilary is a widow and Dane is a broken-hearted man, yet their easy, casual, and gradual relationship brings as much solace to the soul as a bowl of bubbling tomato soup with a hot and melty grilled cheese sandwich to dip in it. This is the type of small town, heartwarming, Hallmarky romance that speaks to the heart and makes me feel like there’s not a care in the world.
This story is a great new start to a series that has me interested in returning to. Even old scars can heal and I can’t wait to see what’s in store in Book 2.

Good clean romance/woman’s fiction about second chances for a widow and a cheated-on groom, who meet at a farming convention to find instant attraction. This story is nicely written with well-developed characters and return characters from the authors previous books which makes it nice. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it.
Loved being back in Hendricks. I didn’t realize Darcy and Sean would be a part of this series too. It was a fun surprise. I loved Hilary and Dane. They were so cute and just had this natural gravitational pull to each other. It was fun reading their story and how they faced their challenges. I was frustrated with Hilary and Jorie a lot, but glad they finally figured things out.
Well done characters, descriptions are enough to visualize the scene without bogging down the story.
The emotions and moods came through in the actions and interactions even when the emotions themselves were not described.
