He’s a ladies man. A charmer and a flirt. The chaser, not the chased. But the arrival of anonymous love notes upsets the status quo.Who’s sending them, and why?Hitting on women is one thing, but being hit on by a woman, is something else. It’s not a position Rourke Halloran likes, especially when he has no idea who the mysterious sender could be. The problem is, it could be one of many.Because … problem is, it could be one of many.
Because Rourke is that kind of guy.
As the love notes continue to arrive, and with no end to the mystery, his mild amusement gives way to irritation.
For all he knows, the sender could be a past girlfriend, seeking revenge, or a total stranger.
Secret admirers are one thing.
Love notes are another.

Something out of the norm but not outlandishly so. Good book to unwind with after a long day.
Sorry simply couldn’t get into this book. The receiver of the letters/notes seemed rather silly to me. . . . DO something don’t procrastinate. . deleted it after 2-3 chapters. Sorry
So boring and illogical with a man over-concerned with receiving anonymous love letters. Lasted for 50 pages of repeat, repeat, repeat that I finally gave up the ghost.
If you have read prior books in the series you’ve met Rourke as the playboy … hmmmm… but a playboy who hasn’t had a date in months? Something is changing about him. Ah, love notes. A bit of a mystery as to who they are from … then a bit of drama with the jerk former boyfriend of the love note writer. Then the high drama of it all working out … some twists.
This is a nice if improbable story. An enjoyable Saturday read. It is a clean story (aka only kissing). But, I enjoyed it and I enjoy the town it is set in. I like this author.
I really enjoyed Rourke’s story and I was glad that he turned out to be more than just a player. I recommend this sweet story in the Starling Bay series and loved catching up with the previous characters. I’m looking forward to reading Shay’s story next.
A little of why this read was just okay.
When I read the synopsis of Love Letters, I couldn’t wait to read it. Sadly, it just didn’t live up to my expectations. To begin with, the leading man started out by being pretty shallow and unlikable. His character did improve by the end of the book. Sadly, his friends were still annoying even by the end of the book. The leading lady was sweet, but very insecure. Her insecurities were understandable, but the angst just went on and on. The story had potential, but the author, Sienna Carr, just didn’t take the direction that would have made this book so much better. Lastly, the ending was abrupt and not at all satisfying.
Content alert: This book is free of any swearing or sex. However, there is some verbal domestic abuse.
This is Book 3 of the Starling Bay Sweet Romance series. Rourke has a secret admirer and almost every woman he looks at is viewed as the possible admirer. Rourke has recently “celebrated” his 30th birthday, and after seeing his two best friends, finally find love, he is wondering if his admirer could be his salvation.
Even though this is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone. I have loved this series since the beginning.
Great story! Awesome characters. Engaging dialogue. Easy to visualize description to detail.

Rourke has watched his 2 best friends find love when they were not looking for it. Now that he has just celebrated his 30th birthday, will he be as lucky? They they start coming, the Love poems/letters begin arriving on Valentine’s Day and every 2 weeks after. Who are they from, Roxy, who owns the diner, Daisy from work, Shay from the employment agency, Mackenzie, the new business owner in town? He tells his sister’s best friend, Leigh, about them and his theories. This is a beautifully written clean love story about finding love when it is right in front of you, it is about overcoming a destructive relationship and learning to stand up for yourself, and it is about LOVE.
Sienna Carr has a beautiful series.
Love notes with some lines of poetry, that was all they were supposed to be.
Only a simple amusement to take her mind off of her loneliness and to test out Rourke’s depth. However, these notes were driving him crazy.
Valentines Day can have that effect, right?!
Even if Rourke can figure out the sender, is she a stalker; or will she be someone that Rourke will finally step up for, to show a whole new depth as a man?
Dylan and Reed seem like the only ones who can help him solve this mystery.
If they can find the time.
This is just a short note to say I enjoyed it!
Rourke is getting romantic love poems from a secret admirer. He spends a lot of his time trying to solve the mystery of who it is to point of where it is distracting him at work. I figured it out early on in the book due to some of things she said in the chapters with the secret admirer, but I won’t give that away. It was a sweet romance and although Rourke had been a playboy, but he was looking for a serious relationship like his friends had.
Different but I like it
This book was a bit different than your typical romance novel, in that it is mostly from the male protagonist’s point of view. Rourke spends most of the book re-evaluating himself and how he has always treated women. There are chapters from the secret admirer’s point of view too, but that is not the focus.
Sometimes serious, sometimes silly, but for sure different.

Who could be sending Rourke Harrison secret love notes? Being a player they could be from anyone and it’s a bit unsettling to him. A nicely written book that’s easy to engage in.

Rourke is a bit of a ladies’ man, definitely more the pursuer than the pursued. So he is a bit surprised to receive a series of love poems from an anonymous woman. At first, he’s amused and a little flattered, but as the notes continue to come every couple weeks, he starts to feel mildly threatened and even has bad dreams about a stalker. Rourke has just turned thirty, so he’s starting to feel a little insecure about himself; he sees that his gut is not as tight as it used to be, and he is no longer the young hotshot at work. As he goes around town, scrutinizing all the women who could have sent this note, he also realizes he’s become predictable. So on several levels, he’s feeling the impact of the turn of a decade.
I love this creative tale. Rourke is a man who is definitely at a crossroads, looking at where he is, where he’s been, and where he wants to be both personally and professionally. As he tries to figure out who his secret admirer is, he questions his own past actions towards women as well as examines other areas of his life. This book is in no way super serious, as my description may suggest. Rourke has a self-awareness that is sometimes serious and sometimes a little silly, so it balances out. The author doesn’t let on who the secret admirer is for quite a bit, although she does interleave short chapters of that woman’s thoughts about what she is doing. These little snippets heighten the tension and make us wonder who the mystery woman will turn out to be.
There were some issues with grammar, punctuation, spelling, and even formatting. An extra space has thrown in an occasion, and at least one paragraph wasn’t correctly indented.
However, this book was such an introspective yet fun look at an unusual circumstance that I could easily overlook the issues described above. If you like contemporary romance that’s a little different and offers a unique view into the mind of the hero, you might enjoy this book.
This 3rd installment of the Starling Bay series is genuine romance story. Rourke is the typical good looking charming guy that every woman takes notice. That’s why, when the tables are turned on him and he has a secret admirer does he realize it could be any number of women either from his past or the small little town he lives in. Good thing that Rourke is more than just a charmer, but someone who will really look at a person and see who they are and what type of person. Now all he has to do is convince his secret admirer, he sees her for who she really is as a person.

This was sweet romance written a little different but so well done that I engaged with it quickly. Characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flowed smoothly. Leigh and Rourke chemistry was sweet and hot..
