Love,Laughter and Lots of Dogs
When Ellen asked me if i would be interested in a bit of love, combined with laughter,i said YES….please! And what i got was sweet, curvacious Kelly. She’s returned home after losing her job to take care of her parents, who both were injured after a car hit them. And not one to leave an opportunity go by,she starts her own business,Pawsome. I also got Cory,a man after my own heart. He is a banker and, very modestly, carries the title of Lord Winthrop. Once he sees Kelly, all grownup, her curves and sunny character draw him in. That, and Hamish….her german shepherd. He is the first of many enthousiastic pets i came across in this story, and they all love Kelly. And Cory. But who wouldn’t love them…I absolutely did,so thank you Ellen, for introducing them to me!
This was a sweet romance. Set in England Kelly is a dog trainer and is starting her own business after losing her job. Cory is a Lord. He is ready to settle down and runs into his childhood friend. Sparks fly from the start. Can Kelly be what the Lord needs? Can two people that run in different circles be able to blend their two worlds?
Kelly is a stronger person that I would be, letting things said by others roll off her back. Cory is smitten by Kelly and can see himself with her. He takes the high road when a new friend invites and ex to a party. Shows great character to put up with what transpires.
This is a sweet romance set in jolly old England and deals with multiple aspects of falling in love and the barriers perceived between classes. We in America don’t see this often unless you say falling for someone on the wrong side of the tracks to describe a lower income person to someone in the upper-class society. Though this did have that aspect throughout the whole book, the author handled it beautifully.
Kelly’s grade school crush comes back to their village and though she thinks she isn’t worthy of being attractive to someone of his caliber due to ad decrease in self worth after losing her job and believes he would be better fitted to her best friend- the perfect Julia. Perfectly poised, dressed and put together, Julia. Who doesn’t even know how great she is. But Cory has different ideas. He develops an instant attraction to the curvaceous witty Kelly, and he is willing to pursue her and help her see that they are meant to be.worth.
Kelly and Cory’s relationship grows quickly and intensely after their initial reintroduction. It is obvious they both like each other and it doesn’t take long for them to admit it to each other. Cory is kind, caring and sometimes overly protective of those around him, especially his mother who has a heart defect. Kelly is perfect for Cory. When Cory’s ex-girlfriend, who about destroyed his reputation after a nasty break up, unexpectedly arrives at a dinner party held by Cory, Kelly handles herself and the ex-girlfriend like a pro. She uses her empathy for the fallen from grace actress/model with just enough of a bite to make her feel chastised and lets her know through her actions that her behavior is unacceptable, yet make her feel welcome as a guest at the same time.
The title is a little inaccurate as it does display Hammish periodically and it does have glimpses into Kelly’s dog treat business but not enough to view it as a prominent piece in the title.
I will be keeping my eye out for the rest of the upcoming books in this series.
Sophie had me from the pink suitcase and polka dots right on through to the end. She is a curvaceous cook who is able to prepare anything and has chosen to cater rather than work in one place. She flirts without compunction and is well received, especially by the men she encounters. I loved her and this story and could not put it down. Sure, there was a hunky billionaire nerd who was smitten – but then – how could he not be? And, perhaps a snarky female lettuce eater or two to deal with but Sophie was rarely if ever at a loss and always smiling, if not laughing and a delight in all ways always!
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
