This is the 4th book in the Lilah Love series and it just gets better and better. As Lilah and her team hunt a killer, the killer is hunting her and Kane. While the killer likes to play games, Lilah hates games and she will not stop until she catches those responsible for the murders of innocent people.
As this story unfolds, we learn more about Lilah, Kane, and those around them. And more about what happened in her past. As they take the clues left by the Umbrella Man and try to figure out who he or she is, they will learn who they can really trust.
This story is filled with mystery, intrigue, and will have your mind reeling wondering who the killer is. Can Lilah and Kane figure out whom it is before they are the next targets? Will her past come back to haunt her before she can solve this case?
I am loving this series and can’t wait to start book 5 as soon as I finish this review. So if you love mystery, murder stories that will leave you wondering who done it, then this series is for you.
I LOVE LILAH & KANE!
LOVE KILLS is the fourth book in the Lilah Love series. This series must be read in the order of release. LOVE ME DEAD and LOVE KILLS are the Umbrella Man duet – these two could be read as a duet without reading the rest of the series, but I don’t recommend doing that. There is a lot of reference to actions in the previous books.
I love Lilah and Kane. I love Kane’s man, , who is willing to protect Lilah.
Lilah is a rare heroine. She doesn’t NEED a man. She is not soft. She is not sweet. Instead she is blunt. She is stronger and more powerful than most men. Kane is the perfect compliment to her strengths, despite his family background. Plus, he’s protective even when she doesn’t admit to a need for protection. She can protect herself, but isn’t it nice to know someone cares?
The Umbrella Man is a worthy opponent for Lilah’s intelligence. All roads lead to her “friends” who want to rule the country. The ones who are backing her father’s political campaign.
Great twists in the story line. This kept me on the edge of my seat and constantly turning the pages. I am grabbing the next book immediately! I absolutely recommend this book and the whole series.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Why is Ghost in the picture and who is Sgt. Morris? What does Lilah say to Houston about Morris? Why does Houston tell Lilah she cannot be objective? My jaw dropped as Lilah started linking the crimes based on something Morris says. All I can say about this book of the duet is “Well, hell, I did NOT see that coming!” There are so many possibilities for whom the Umbrella Man is. Just WOAH!!!! I am looking forward to continuing on with Bloody Vows, the next duet of the series!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin’ With M. Brennan.
Jones Kills…me with these books. She wrenches every bit of emotion out of me and I’m drained. I can’t say I love Lilah but I admire her talents and her don’t give a crap attitude (I can’t use the word I want there or I’ll get snagged by censors!) She’s so good at her job and understanding the deranged minds of the killers she hunts.
Kane…sigh.. Now, Kane I do love. He’s so tough, capable of doing what it takes in his family’s business or his legit companies. You’d expect a man like that to be very self-centered and want everyone to wait on him hand and foot. And likely he does everywhere else in his life but when Lilah’s around he’s so focused on her. What woman wouldn’t want a sexy, alpha male to bring her strawberries and coffee when she’s brought her work home and is holed up in her office? Sign me up!
The Umbrella man is as clever a killer as Lilah has ever tracked. His murders are incredibly complicated (and cleverly written on Jones’s part!) The Society can’t be discounted in any of Lilah’s cases now since she’s aware of just how involved they are in her, Kane and her family’s lives. Is all this death just another elaborate set up by the super secret group?
As is Jones’s way, we’re left with a nasty cliffhanger. I need some hair of the dog to treat this book hangover.
Started this morning and fished this evening. I could not put this book down. This book starts after Love Me Dead. This is the fourth book in the series. You will need to read these all in order. I’m so ready for book five, Bloody Vows. I don’t think my heart ever slowed down while reading this. There is so much going on. So many clues. So many suspects. And let’s not forget the romance between Lilah and Kane. Yum! Lisa does such an amazing job with her series. She keeps you interested from the first page to the last. This one definitely does not disappoint, grab your copy today!
I knew it & I love how this ended! Such a great way to reveal the Umbrella Man. As expected this book is full of twists, turns and loops! The same great writing with great characters and an amazing plot. Lilah is a hoot and Kane is such her opposite I just love them together. This is another can’t put it down until you reach the end book. This series gets better with each book. I cannot wait until the next.
Lisa Renee Jones did another awesome job writing this book!!
The Umbrella Man is on his way to try to destroy Lilah and Kane but we all know that when Lilah sets her mind to it she will eventually figure who the killer is or will the killer come to her?
i swear, I thought my heart would beat out of my chest at times while reading Love Kills. This book is so fast paced you rarely have a moment to catch a breath before it gallops off to another intense scene. Lilah really has her mettle tested with all the different directions Umbrella Man keep pulling her in as he grows ever closer. Her saving grace? Kane, always Kane. He works the dark side while she tries to stay in the light.
Love Kills will keep you on your toes the entire read. All the twist and turns keep you glued to the pages. Lilah and Kane are an amazing couple in this one. I love Lilah’s strength as she continues to go after the killer. You will not see the who is behind it all coming. I could not get enough of this one. I just want more Lilah and Kane. This series keeps getting better and better.
Stunning, epic conclusion to Lilah fucking Love’s quest to capture Umbrella Mam. Full of mystery, craziness and lots of love.
4.5 stars– LOVE KILLS is the fourth instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult LILAH LOVE romantic, suspense series, and the conclusion to the second duet that started in LOVE ME DEAD focusing on FBI agent Lilah Love.
NOTE: LOVE KILLS should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliffhanger of book three LOVE ME DEAD.
Told from first person perspective (Lilah Love) LOVE KILLS follows FBI Agent Lilah Love as she is pulled into the game of a serial killer who is targeting people she knows, she works with, and she loves but Lilah suspects the killer maybe someone she knows, and in this, the members of the group known as the Society, are high on her list of suspects, many of whom have connections to her father, and his run for President. As the number of victims of the ‘umbrella man’ mount, Lilah realizes that everyone is suspect, and the people she thought she could trust, may be the very people hoping to take her down.
LOVE KILLS is a story of obsession, betrayal, murder and revenge; a suspense-filled story of one woman’s impassioned and almost manic need to take down a killer, all by herself. Lisa Renee Jones pulls the reader into another dark, gritty, detailed and graphic story with a foul-mouthed, unfiltered heroine who has the ability to terrify the strongest of men, except the man for whom she is willing to die.
4.5 stars
This series is getting better and better with each new book. And it’s definitely one of my favourite series ever.
Shades of the past are growing bigger and darker than before, the conclusion is starting to take shape and so it’s Lilah and Kane’s love story.
Nothing is as it seems and there are still so many hidden secrets and twists to discover.
Something reminds me of The Mentalist tv series and I might just binge watch it.
Love Kills is the conclusion to Love Me Dead and starts immediately where the previous book left off. Lilah is in a dark alleyway surrounded by bodies about to come face to face with her prey – a psychotic killer nicknamed the Umbrella Man, so-called because he makes it rain blood. Once again Lilah is up to her eyes in murder. The plot moves so fast that at times I almost felt dizzy reading it. I eventually decided to stop overthinking the motives of every character and just enjoy the story leaving the crime solving to Lilah. Characters from the previous books make appearances but are they friend or foe? All the threads are being woven together so everything is connected not only to this current case but also to events of the past as well. I can honestly say the ending is one I never saw coming.
I do have one question that has been at the back of my mind since the first book and one which I’m surprised Lilah hasn’t already found the answer to – what happened to their old housekeeper who had been with their family for years? She might know more about certain events than anyone realises. Maybe my question will be answered in the next book.
I fell more in love with Kane as he is intent on protecting Lilah even if she is determined she will protect him. Their chemistry is all kinds of delicious as it extends into a driving need to be there for each other. Despite the narration, this is a fast and furious conclusion to Love Me Dead, Lilah Love book 3 and the mystery of the Umbrella Man. While I had guessed some of the “mystery”, there were still a few surprises as this story has twists and turns that will have you wildly guessing what will happen next.
Can’t wait for more!
This couple just gets better and better. Kane is that delicious mix of dark and light. He’s a man who won’t hesitate to do what he feel needs to be done, legal or not. He’s also that man who can love Lilah with an intensity that has him protecting her above all others and treats her like a man should. It’s a heady mix in a man that makes him very appealing to many.
Lilah is a heroine that I find so rarely. I love how she just doesn’t care what others think of her. She doesn’t care if she makes enemies of very powerful men who stand in her way. She will bulldoze over anyone that will keep her from doing her job. A lot of times, that labels a woman as a wicked witch of the west but I think it makes her admirable. She fascinates me just as much as Kane does.
The books in the series has been so intriguing to me. I feel like I’m right there with Lilah trying to solve these crimes. The writing is fantastic and I hope that the author keeps bringing us more in this series.
This is an Audible review for Love Kills the finale to Lilah Love Series.
I have been looking forward to this book, but know that I have the answers, I’m disappointed, I want more. I’m seriously going to miss the feisty, aggressive, no nonsense Lilah who is determined to find the umbrella killer as she has personally dubbed him. I was surprised with killer didn’t see that coming, and still feel there is something missing?
Madeleine did a wonderful job narrating and bringing these characters to life.
Love Kills by Lisa Renee Jones is the 4th book in the Lilah Love Series. FBI Profiler Lilah Love has a serial killer that has set his/her site on her and Kane but first he/she has plans for her. He is sending clues by killing people and expecting her to figure out the clues. Can she figure out who the psychopath is before it hits close to home? The closer she gets the realization that it could be someone she knows that works in law enforcement. With less people to trust her relationship with Kane intensifies and he once again is there when she needs his support most. Together they are a force to reckoned with.
“One falls—” “And another rises, but we’ll win, Lilah. Because we have you and your badge to keep us in the middle, where we belong.”
This is an action packed, mystery, suspense filled, nail biter till the end. Once I started it I couldn’t put it down.
Five
OMG! I freaking loved it! LRJ killed it with this book! An absolute mind f*ck! Lilah Love and Kane Mendez at their absolute finest.
I keep replaying things in my head and I’m still stunned. Twist and twist and twist. Trusting your gut. But even when things get crazy there is always more crazy to discover.
This is the 4th book in the Lila Love series and it picks up right where three left off. Umbrella Man has Lila questioning everyone around her and sending her all over the city wondering who will be next. This series is page turning and I could not put it down. Her relationship with Kane is progressing and you get the sense that she’s ready to really try with him in her own Lila Love way. I loved everything about this book and truly hope that Lisa keeps writing this series. Lila’ s mouth just keeps you wondering what is going to come out next and the ending totally caught me off guard! Exceptional story Lisa Renee Jones.
I absolutely love this story. Lilah Love and Kaine’s story so different from other books I have read from Lisa Renee Jones. There is drama, spence, and murder. Oh and Love. I hope she writes more about Lilah. Lilah walks the line between right and wrong so well is scares her and with Kaine by her side with his illegal doings the badge in between them to keep them human.
