“Love is the Answer, God is the Cure” is the story of Aimee Cabo, who was in the Miami news for almost five years from 1989 to 1994 in a case the media named “The Case from Hell.” This sexual abuse case pitted her and her sister against her parents who denied all culpability. As she fought court battles, poverty, abuse, and addiction, Aimee always turned to love and to God. Another near tragedy … tragedy struck when her daughter was almost murdered by a tenant she found in Craig’s list. This is the story of a woman who had all the odds against her and how she persevered to find true love and form a family that could withstand anything.

Love is the Answer, God is the Cure: A True Story of Abuse, Betrayal and Unconditional Love by Aimee Cabo Nikolov
I received a copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the gut-wrenching memoir of Aimee Cabo Nikolov, narrating her lifestory growing up as a survivor of sexual, emotional and physical abuse. Not having any contact with her biological father, the man her mother married and the father of her younger siblings, was the only father she knew and from a young age also became her abuser. On the outside they appeared to be ideal, her mother a successful neurologist and her step-father, also a doctor, were the parents of a large family but it was a living hell for Aimee behind doors.
I have only awe and deep respect for the author who painstakingly bares her life, the good and the shockingly bad, in this novel. Even though she was a victim of unmentionable things, amazingly her schooling didn’t suffer and she continued to study throughout her pain and strife despite being a single mother with hardly any income at times. I am at a loss for words as to how a mother can not act upon the cry for help from a child. Instead of receiving help and understanding, she was ignored, insulted and beaten with a belt on several occasions…by her own mother.
Love is the Answer is a very honest and open account of the authors uphill struggle. Her feelings of doubt were ever present, did she tempt her step-father? Was it all her fault? It is so tragic to read how she never felt safe, wrought with guilt, losing all faith and trust in adult figures but yet also assuming that men expected sexual favours from her. Yet in spite of so many devastating experiences Aimee Cabo Nikolov is herself a devoted mother and loving wife, finally meeting the man of her dreams. Even though there should be a “ tissues needed “ warning on the cover, Love is the Answer is also an outstanding life example of the authors love and a brilliant literary illustration that can help others overcome their suffering.
“ we can do more than that
we can be beacons of light “
I rate Love is the Answer 5 out of 5 stars.
“I did not know that a young girl who has no sense of self and is pretty, just evokes a kind of predatory sexuality in men who are as weak themselves.”
I’m not much of a memoir person, but this testimony needed to be told and I’m glad I had the opportunity to read it. Fair warning: this book is very intense, especially for readers who may have experienced the same traumas as the author. The blunt, straightforward writing is what makes it so compelling, and the author’s strength is simply unparalleled.
“Love Is the Answer” is a book that will definitely make you reflect on many things as you read it. Despite the positive and hopeful title, this book is nothing short of shocking, and sometimes even terrifying. The author, Aimee Nikolov, tells readers all about the hell she went through in her childhood and youth, and that tale is full of sad moments.
Aimee suffered mental, physical, and sexual abuse for years, but she didn’t give up on the world or, most importantly, herself. She kept hoping and believing in love and God. These two notions helped her get through everything life threw at her, even when her own mother preferred to turn her back as her boyfriend abused Aimee.
“Love Is The Answer” is by no means an easy read, but I’d still recommend it to anyone who wants to gain a little bit of perspective on their own struggles.
This book is heartbreaking and awe-inspiring. Love is the Answer, God is the cure is a memoir by Aimee Cabo Nikolov detailing her life and struggles as she and her sister went through a horrible sexual assault case. Reading her story is often difficult, but it is such an important story. Aimee fully opens herself up to the reader and writes in a way that both brings light to her trauma as well as gives her own life story an inspiring and uplifting. I found the book to be an incredible read and sheds light on an important issue that is often ignored. I would highly recommend reading this book.
The book is a very emotionally charged book outlining constant sexual abused and trauma that will open the eyes of readers to the way the real world behaves more times than not. The reader is left with disbelief that people can treat others in such a manner. You see that Aimee strong faith and trust in God, despite going through horrific trauma, helped her do deal and overcome the sexual abuse, addiction, trauma, and family betrayal that she went through. I admire this author for being so open in giving us her life story. This story is an inspirational book, showing how a person can overcome horrific trauma and survive. The author show people that strength and belief in good vs evil can overcome situation that would destroy many and leave other broken for life. The book is about faith and survival written in a honest forthright manner that leaves the reader with many emotion. I recommend this book as an example of how people cope and overcome traumas they have faced.
Personally, I tend to stick to the fiction and nonreligious books, but I was glad that I got the opportunity to read this one. Love is the Answer, God is the Cure is the story of the author’s life, from the Case From Hell to her daughter’s secrets revealed.
While reading the book I was astonished that through all of the things that Aimee went through, she continued living to the best ability that she could. She continually turned to religion and praying for help, and working for the best for her children.
I am not religious myself, and I never really understood why people were so faithful in something that cannot be necessarily proven, but while reading I saw how this woman was able to rely on her trust in God to get her out of the worst times.
Through the way that Aimee recounted the events that happened in her past, it was as if I was there watching, and hoping for the best.
This memoir truly opened my eyes to how people put their faith religion and how things happen for a reason, no matter how terrible the thing.
Aimie Cabo Nikolov has been through a lot in her life, more than many of us could ever cope with. Not only did she find the strength to deal with the horrible cards life dealt her, she also found strength to share her story with the world, in the hope of helping others. ‘Love is the Answer, God is the Cure’ is an emotional story of a life that starts in the worst possible way, and of a woman who battles through pain and setbacks to find love. It is dark, and at times it is difficult to read, but once you get through the darkness, there is so much light and happiness. Aimie is a remarkable woman, and she has such a positive outlook on life, we could all learn a lot from her.
Aimee Cabo Nikolov grew up abused and battered while living with her biological mother and stepfather. She knows the face and touch of evil and she has battled this all her life starting from as a young elementary-age girl to a full-grown woman in her mid-twenties. Aimee describes the sexual abuse she suffers in great detail and one has to stomach the cruelty and obscene actions that her stepfather does to her while her terribly stoic and husband-defensive mother turns a blind eye and calls her a liar and a no-good little kid just looking for attention. Aimee’s life, when you read this book, is one of true survival and struggle and triumph! While a kid and a teenager, she goes to court to keep her mother and stepfather away from her but when she grows up to become a mother, the father of her first-born also gives her a tumultuous time by bringing up false claims about her while they go to court to determine who gets full custody of their daughter. This story will disgust you (because of the ongoing sexual abuse she undergoes) as well as make you teary-eyed (because of her lion-heart and her way of fighting for what is right and just in this cruel world of predators and haters).
I think you should read this book to witness what goes on behind the doors of some families in the world. That there are people who may look like they have it together in public but behind all that, they are suffering from sexual, physical, emotional, etc. abuse from those who are their very own family members. It was painful to read about Aimee and all that she goes through because from an early age she was exposed to sex, drugs, violence, and so and so. All of the adults that should have been there for her somehow just sweep her under the rug and give her the horrible treatment. I did find some of her doings to be questionable but then again this was a person who was abused at an early age and all I had to do was read on with a more understanding stance. What I truly admire about Aimee is her devotion to the Virgin Mary and God above all and how she always turns to prayer and those two for comfort and solace. It reminds me of myself as I too am always thinking of my Lord and my heavenly mother during times of personal pain and struggle. Aimee is Catholic and that’s why I could relate to her and her faith.
I would recommend this interesting book of endurance and endless struggle to all those who are in the same vein, who have been or are being sexually, physically, emotionally, etc. abused right now. That we can only turn to the Lord, a true and effective source of strength and victory to ease our burdens and our wounds and our sadness. Aimee found happiness towards the end of the book and she gives us the notion that in God we must always trust because eventually things will turn in our favor all because of Him if we constantly go to Him for guidance and salvation. Now as a closing word, I do pray that Aimee will continue with this devotion and to keep us posted on her journey in life as she is so young yet a lot has happened to her it’s a blessing she’s a survivor (and hero)! God bless you Aimee and God bless us all!
Love is the Answer, God is the Cure by Aimee Cabo Nicolov is an emotional and heart rending story. The author has certainly had to endure a lot, yet created a new life for herself. You can never predict when certain events in life change everything forever, and this holds true for the author. Aimee tells her story in a heartfelt way, from enduring terrible sexual abuse as a child, to being homeless, to substance abuse. Custody battles also took their toll over time while she was fighting for her first daughter. This book reads as a tragedy that turns into the consummate love story. She overcame terrible odds and created a wonderful life. Aimee writes with clarity, faith, and an openness that is hard to find. You will enjoy this true story with all of its beauty and positive spirit. Strong recommendation.
I’m not sure how to describe ‘Love is the Answer, God is the Cure’. It is a memoir that will break your heart and sob uncontrollably, whilst also filling you will with hope and marvel at the strength of the human spirit. Aimie Cabo recounts the harrowing story of her life from nightmarish sexual abuse at the hands of her parents, addiction, and poverty. When there was no other comfort for her, she found God – her love for him helped her to find love for others and receive love in return. However, there was more tragedy to come, when her daughter was brutally attacked by a Craig’s List tenant.
This is the remarkable story of a remarkable family. Whereas tragedy often has the ability to drive families apart, this family has such an extraordinary bond, that they have weathered storms that would destroy so many others. You don’t need to be a believer in God to relate to Aimie and her family’s strength. They drew their power and inspiration from their faith in God, but it shows that you don’t need to get pulled down by past tragedies, you can find a way out of it, with the help of God or in other ways.
Love is the Answer God is the Cure is the real life story of the author’s trials and tribulations who suffered the most horrific abuse as a child. This is a riveting memoir, whilst the story itself was very sad it is also a story of triumph against all the odds! showing that with faith and hope you can survive anything. This was quite an intense and compelling read for me, one that had me crying at times as it was frank and detailed. I have to congratulate the author Aimee Nikolov for this extremely moving and inspirational memoir. highly recommended.
An autobiography of one woman’s fight to survive and overcome the most horrendous abuse as a child. Aimee Cabo Nikolov is a total inspiration and I urge anyone who has or is suffering in a similar way and is struggling to find their way to read this book as I’m sure you too will find the strength you need to not only survive but triumph. This story is testament that with God, love, faith and hope in your heart you can triumph against the odds. A heartwarming and emotional book. Highly recommended.
When I first started reading this book I almost stopped reading it. I thought Amy came up as someone who is painting her life to be perfect, but as I continued reading by the endMy heart broke and saying for Amy. There is so much say it in this book but Bobby in with Amy’s tenacity and strength you really are glad you read it at least I am. I highly recommend this to those who either want to understand or understand to well The perils of abuse. Highly recommend this book just know there is more to this book then just abuse they have the great story of how she met the love of her life the love she has for her daughter and other things that make the sad part worth getting through.
Love is the Answer God is the Cure – Aimee Nikolov
Book starts out with dedication page and table of contents. About the cover is included.
Note about the story and how it all started.
Prologue with prayers. Love that the sisters get to spend time in Dominican Republic because the sister that got married wasn’t able to use the trip.
Each chapter also starts with a verse or psalm scripture.
They both meet men they want to get to know better.
Story goes back in time to when Aimee was only 7 and the abuse starts. Hard for me
So much pain, torture, suffering but there are good times also.
Like that Aimee stays in touch with newspapers so she can notify others of what the animal did to her and her family.
Like how religion plays a huge part in this story. Always reliable.
Received this review copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.
Having to deal with such abuse and emotional damage is something I couldn’t even comprehend, and reading Aimee’s story was at times heart-breaking, and other times utterly inspiring as well. The concept of faith to pull us through any event in life no matter how turbulent is the profound message in the book, and as much as it isn’t something I’m convinced I could do myself I was compelled to read this book after coming across the synopsis while clicking around for new books. Nikolov is a talented writer with a tragic past. I hope she is able to further use her craft for future works.
Love is the Answer had an impact on me from the great honesty and emotion contained within. The author, having gone through such an abusive past, has a real insight into what is required for the human spirit to endure. Well at least that seems to be the case, although I guess when we struggle that doesn’t just go away.
There is a lot contained in this book that a simple review can’t do justice to, so I would recommend reading for yourself. Some of the revealed content of Nikolov’s backstory can be difficult to hear, but that just adds to the relevance of her journey.
Awesome book! I was pleasantly impressed by the book “Love is the Answer God is the Cure” by Aimee Nikolov. Thanks to the author for such a sentimental story that can not leave the reader indifferent.
I am a person who believes in God and for me it was doubly interesting and exciting, because you won’t find there that it’s good or bad to believe in God, just after reading your point of view may change because of such a plot. The author described the characters so well that I could imagine them, I could understand them and sympathize with them. I believe that only a truly talented author can evoke so many sincere feelings in a reader. Sometimes I just wanted to close the book and think about what I read. I really recommend everyone to read this well written and excellent book!
This is a monument to the cruelty that exists in the world, and the ability of individuals to rise from the ashes. Aimee Nikolov has undergone some outlandish cruelty and suffering in her lifetime, and this book is her memoir chronicling those events.
The depth of feeling transmitted in her writing is shockingly involving and certain parts are difficult to read, however this is an important book so we can all understand, not just the initial suffering, but how important it is for everyone who faced childhood abuse to get the help they desperately need to allow them even a chance at growing up to be well-adjusted adults able to cope in everyday life.
A very powerful read, and one that still sits with me days after I finished reading.
This is a true story of an horrific event that nobody should ever have to suffer. Author Aimee Nikolov has achieved a tremendous feat to even be able to recover from such an event, and now she is sharing it so others can take inspiration and perhaps motivation for our own lives no matter what we are going through. Nikolov’s writing is skilled and accomplished without going overboard and allowing the event to tell the story rather than using unnecessarily graphic language. I have recommended this book to my friends and am writing this review to recommend on here too. A tragedy turned into inspiration.
I’m not a big fan of memoirs, but this was recommended as an incredibly powerful read so I decided to give it a go. It is truly remarkable what the human spirit is capable of tolerating and being able to come out the other side. To be tested at this type of level is something no one should ever have to endure, and it’s clear from this book that the author has had more than a dozen lifetimes of misery in her short journey thus far.
However rather than revelling in this the way many misery-memoirs tend to this is a story of hope and endurance, an inspirational story of refusing to be beaten. I’m not a particularly religious person myself, but whichever peaceful means a person finds to help them cope has to always be a positive thing.
