This is the first Alexis Goring book I have read and I am sure I’ll be reading more from this author soon. Set in current day Maryland, this book is a sweet contemporary inspirational romance but addresses so much more than just boy-meets-girl and happily-ever-after. The author addresses the impact of stuttering on a child’s social and emotional growth and people out there who can help, bullying and how to combat it, difficulties in inter-racial relationships, and blind hatred and racism that need to be stopped by love, grace, and mercy. With easy-to-read writing style, fun and lovable characters, plot brimming with angst and misunderstandings, and faith seamlessly incorporated into the characters lives, the book is a good read and the author offers hope, forgiveness, and reconciliation that can only be found through God. Michelle’s journey as a wedding photographer is fun and exciting as is Logan’s journey as a reporter and later as a TV anchor.
Anyone who love contemporary romance will enjoy this book. I received a copy of the book via Singing Librarian Books Tour and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
What I think you should know:
Love In Pictures in a Contemporary Romance by Alexis G. Goring. I would classify it as Christian fiction. Alexis and Logan hit it off right away and quickly fall in love, but many obstacles stand in the way of their relationship including lack of communication.
What you might need to know:
Suicide of a preteen who was bullied due to his stuttering is mentioned a couple of times in the book. The book shows a glimpse of the struggle with prejudice from both whites and blacks.
What I think about this book:
Even though this story dealt with some heavy topics I found it to be a fun light hearted read. There were times that I wanted to yell at both characters, but I enjoyed the interaction between Michelle and Logan as well as the supporting characters in the book. Goring was able to captivate my imagination with Michelle’s photography. This is the first book I have read by Goring, but it will not be the last!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
Love in Pictures is a wonderful Christian novel that captures all the essences of being a Christian. From consistently mentioning prayers to focusing on their faith, Michelle and Logan truly display what Christian love should look like, especially for a bi-racial couple.
Michelle owns her own photography studio and photographs weddings. While Logan has excelled at writing, but he wants to do more by becoming an on-air journalist. Having struggled with stuttering his own life, he finally meets someone willing to give him a chance at his dream.
Both Michelle and Logan have families that love them deeply as well as friends. In fact, Michelle’s best friend constantly prays for her to meet the right man to marry. The family bonds, friendships, and relationships in this book make it one that is hard to put down. The other thing that makes it hard to put down is the description of the scenery and locations in this book.
This book is definitely worth reading. I plan on reading more books by this author. So check it out for yourself.
I received a copy of this book for my fair and honest review.
My Thoughts on Love in Pictures:
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. When I first read the description I thought it was going to be a cutesy romance book. But there are actually a lot of hard topics covered in this book. While it has those hard topics, it hasn’t become a heavy book and still manages to be light-hearted and have a good romance within it.
Some of the topics within this book are how stuttering as a child affects both the child and the adult, bullying (and how to combat it), blind hatred, racism, and inter-racial relationships.
Personally, I’m impressed by how well the author could take so many almost taboo topics and combine them in one book while still making a book that people would want to read! Kudos to her!
I enjoyed this book. While I can’t say that it’s a die-hard favorite, I can say that I enjoyed this book and I would be interested in reading more by this author.
Faith is incorporated throughout the whole book. It’s an easy to read book that I can recommend. The author did a wonderful job weaving this book together and the characters are very relatable and real-life feeling.

I am a huge fan of romance and the cover of this book drew me into wanting to read it even more. This is my first book by Alexis A. Goring. We are taken into the lives of Michelle and Logan. Michelle Hadley a beautiful photographer who dreams of having a beautiful wedding of her own when a handsome man named Logan Emerson runs into her. The story is about their developing relationship with each other. We see their family tension, prejudices of race and how they dealt with it. There are many sensitive issues throughout the book. Alexis A. Goring does a great job of putting faith elements throughout the story. One of the strongest topics in the book is racial discrimination and how they dealt with it. There are many twists and turns to keep you in the story. There is a healthy dose of humor throughout the book. Topics discussed in the book include misunderstanding, friendship, loyalty, faith, love, and self-esteem. Goring did a wonderful job of creating realistic situations. Even though it has faith messages throughout the book it isn’t preachy.
I highly recommend “Love in Pictures.” It was a tender story. I could see this made into a Hallmark movie.

I received this book from Celebrit Lit book review. The opinions expressed in my review are my own honest thoughts and reaction to this book.
Michelle seems to be content with her job as a photographer and keeps herself pretty busy. I think it would be a lot of fun to be a wedding photographer. You get to share in the happiness with the couple and see beautiful dresses and destinations. I really liked Michelle and how easy going she is. I don’t think there is anything in her heart but love for God and compassion for others.
Logan is a little bit unsure of himself and at times a childhood problem of stuttering shows up at the most unpleasant times. It was nice to read how Michelle and Logan caught each other’s attention. They didn’t see the color of skin only a kind face and an attraction that could become something more. The story explores racism in a way that was easy to understand. Michelle’s brother has a big problem with Logan dating his sister simply because he is white. It made me upset to realize that prejudice still goes on today.
The author writes a beautiful story of love and forgiveness. The readers get a glimpse of what it is like for someone of color. God wants us to love each other for who we are on the inside. The color of our skin shouldn’t cause others to treat us differently. This story is a great example of how some people judge others for their appearance . Someday I hope we can all see each other the way God does.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
As a creative person, if not a photographer, I appreciate Michelle’s eye for beauty and her exacting selection process—the mark of a true professional.
Logan hides his heart and guards his secret with steel determination.
Ms. Goring has brought a mélange of elements together in a charming story—attraction that won’t let go, family tension and interference, a past that resurfaces, a promising future that beckons.
I found it hard to keep up with the time frame; several times I was lost or confused by sudden / unannounced time or location changes. The dialogue was also lacking for me; it felt artificial and contrived.
But the way Ms. Goring handled [SPOILER] issue was beautifully and skillfully done. Her resolution was gripping but simple in its application. Well done!
